EasyReader does not remember reading position
The app has big problems keeping track of where I have listened to, numerous times I have to find where I am up to as the booking lock has not been remembered. This is especially prevalent when I've got more than one book on the go. This is fundamental to a book reading app. I would love to have the chance to use a different app but obviously I'm fixed to this one. Sometimes it opens and just reads loading…, This is when you know you've lost all your bookmarks and all your reading library selections. The other criminal problem is that the feedback button produces five smiley to less smiley faces when you slag one the app crashes, for God sake. There are another issues where the book won't stop playing when you press pause and when you can try and control using Siri shortcuts the book does the opposite to what it is commanded to do. I've also got auto start read selected even though the setting does not exist anymore, it did once so I can't turn it off now. a shambles.
Good, also could be a bit more accessible
Happy to have this app so I can access books through CELA. It would be more accessible if there was a playback speed option between 75 and 100. I’m sure i’m not the only user who has ADHD with an audio processing delay. Too fast and I can’t comprehend, too slow and I can’t pay attention. Increments of 5 would be ideal. Accent options would be great too for holding attention. Slowed Irish and South African are less monotone. It would also be awesome if there was an option to turn off reading page numbers as they can be really disruptive. Great that i can adjust the screen and text colours and the font tho.
Brilliant but flawed
I am partially blind and listen to books a lot, sadly they done allow 0.95 or .09 for slower reading or slightly faster . You can’t customise for longer the sleeper for longer than an hour . It does the basics but it’s a shame they don’t consider these options as standard for veterans
Useful but several issues for VI
No dark mode, can’t Bluetooth to Alexa, no ‘End of chapter’ option on sleep timer. RNIB book cover often disappears. I have my phone on high brightens as vision impaired, so when the book cover disappears and lack of a dark mode option it’s blinding. Still, saves money on Audible.

Well, it’s free so what do I expect?
For years now I’ve had issues with this app. First of alll, books it claims are downloaded are not. Then, you pick a book and guess what? ‘Download failed, please try again llater’. What, again? Then, when I close the app the book, if it opens at all once the app is reopened is a different book from the one I was reading. It used to be at the top of the page but now the book in progress could be just about anywhere in my reading list. Frankly, it’s pathetic but It’s free I suppose. Having said that, thank goodness I don’t have to pay for it, it wouldn’t be worth the money.
An Issue… PLEASE HELP!
So, I’ve been using the app for a few years now, and for some reason it doesn’t have that download button where it usually is… I find this strange, because it has never happened before. Nothing I do is working!!! I want to read my books, and I can’t. Please help! *I use Bookshare
Not Easy!
We encourage young people with a vision impairment and their schools to use RNIB Bookshare and the EasyReader app but there is always an issue with downloading a book, and/or using other features in the app. Please Dolphin and RNIB Bookshare make it easier for our SEN users to be able to access independently either on the app or on the website. It’s been too long for these ongoing issues to continue …. Thank you
Not working for me
I’m not able to get this app to work. When I tap the book icon it opens a list of libraries but each one I select says I have no internet connection. So not able to browse a library.

If the sound quality was adequate and there was an option to reduce or increase audio speed by less than 25%. It would probably be ok just dated and clunky.
Great River
This is a nice tool for the visually impaired. Its voice is clear and easily understood the price for Dolphin God connect should be a little cheaper than 600. It should have a subscription model white jars and sitting text
Disappointed was hoping for a cheaper alternative to openbook
I have spent long time struggling to access journal articles and text books for university. I am very much a visual learner but due to severe sight loss cannot keep up with the amount of reading required. This app allows for easy integration with one drive for all my files, RNIB bookshare and many other systems that I don’t currently use. It was able to quickly and easily download books and import them in to the software. The OCR recognition was poor and lost the formatting really easily. Journal articles are not that easy to deal with but it even more difficult to follow. It does allow for really easy bookmarking of position and automatically organises texts into chapters which was very accurate for the text books. Again the text view was often inaccurate though. This app has promise but at the moment isn’t the solution for me.
Can’t turn off background activity on IPad
Since updating, this app is devouring my iPad battery with hours of background activity. It doesn’t show up with other apps in settings or have its own in app settings so I can’t turn of notifications or anything else that may cause this.

I HATE the new blue update. it’s AWFUL and inaccessible. You’ve taken away the slider so the only way to wiz ahead and back is to click the little arrow fifty times
Serious bugs
App Version 2026.01, iOS version 26.5 Running on iPhone 16 Pro If you use incorrect login details when logging into the RNIB Reading Services library, then the app will not ever log into that service and you can’t change the login detail. The only resolution is to delete the app off the phone and reinstall it, which will then give you a new opportunity to enter incorrect login detail details. When away from Wi-Fi and using mobile data the app can get stuck, seemingly often, on the “losing…” page as the app launches. Opening the app once back at home and connected to Wi-Fi seems to resolve the issue. Even though the phone has access to fast mobile data. So the app is at times unusable when travelling or otherwise away from home, even though the Audiobooks are already downloaded. I have hidden all the other libraries apart from the RNIB Reading Services library if that is relevant.
This app is nice
I’m visually impaired and this app has allowed me to read when my eyes don't. I have finally been able to read the books i thought i’d have to give up on when my eyes when downhill but this app has changed that! I do have a small recommendation such as adding a dark mode for people who have bad light sensitivity and for this who have a better time with the contrast apart from that I haven’t experienced any faults with the app that other users have mentioned.
Still feels embryonic
I made the mistake of shutting down the app when I was halfway through a book, when I reopened the app it had totally lost my place and gone back to the very beginning… It's almost as if the developers of this app really don't know what they're doing…
Is there a way to prevent this becoming the default app for opening documents
I have a number of accessible apps installed to support a family member who is VI. Wherever I try to open a word document, it defaults to trying to open this app as opposed to Microsoft Word. For this reason I’ve had to uninstall this app.
Going backwards
I’ve been using this app for a number of years, and as you can understand from that it must be quite good. However, in the last few months it had become infuriating. It periodically tells me that my password is incorrect and just send me round in a loop. It’s happening again at the moment, which of course is why I’m on the App Store. Maddening!
Poor
There is no way to contact the owner of this app. You cannot try again to log into your account, you have to delete app, download it and then try again, you have to reduce text size to untoggle libraries ,which means struggling to see the screen, and every time the app updates you have to repeat this

Clunky
This is such a clunky app. I’m trying to help a visually impaired neighbour use it, but she has all sorts of bother with it, books not loading, chapters going back to the start of previous chapter, sometimes going back to the beginning of the book when opening the app. I’m no Luddite but how the heck blind people manage this app is difficult to comprehend. And why don’t you show ALL the book information such as how long the book is and who the reader is. Or maybe it’s on there and we can’t find it, either way it’s not a very user friendly experience.
No option to change readers voice
Hi, I am going to be using this app to support my studies with the open university, however, I am finding the robot monotone voice quite difficult to listen to and the website suggests that there is an option to change the speakers voice, however, when I click on the audio button as suggested on the website there is no voice drop down menu. It would be great if someone could explain how I can access the features advertised, thanks in advance.

An excellent app that delivers content, in a highly accessible way, from a wide range of libraries.
Lost Subscription
Subscription associated with my Apple account simply disappeared, taking all my settings with it. Logging back in with Apple did not restore. This was using the external Fastspring method of payment rather than Apple in-app purchase, so maybe that's what I should do in future; still, very poor show and I'm not really inclined to pay up again when I still had most of a year's subscription at the lower price left.
V useful but a few issues
Good range of voices for text to speech. Always goes back to the start of clipboard texts however and there doesn’t seem to be a way to bookmark my place. Downloading audiobooks can be glitchy - if I leave the app before it’s finished downloading the audiobook fails to load. Sometimes loses the place as well. Would be great to be able to adjust audio speed in increments of 10% or 5% RNIB reading services has a My Reading Lists tab but it’s empty and I can’t see a way to add titles to it or sync with my Read Later List on the RNIB website. Would be good to be able to filter search results by format type too
Not accessible
Th8s app is supposed to be accessible but it’s really not. Please make it accessible. I don’t reccommend it. Not until it’s actually accessible.
Mostly good
This app generally works well but I find playback stops randomly with increasing frequency and I can’t work out why. Am using on iPhone 13 with latest IOS but this was also an issue on my previous phone. Easy to restart if I have my phone unlocked and to hand but annoying if I have walked away from it or if I am listening on Bluetooth headphones (issue doesn’t only happen when on headphones, so not related to Bluetooth issues)

As an app it’s ok. BUT! I’m trying to download a book and it says it’s doing it only to find the download has failed! I access books via RNIB reading services. For obvious reasons I find it infuriating to have download issues! It’s not the best app for finding out how to solve issues
Easy reader
Still hasn't fixed the issue of books going back to the beginning rather than picking up from where I left off. Very annoying!
Helps my dyslexic daughter
This app has been a real help for my daughter who struggles to concentrate and read printed text. Since starting high school, she has a lot more reading to do and so She plays the audio version of the book and reads along with the text. She finds it easy to use and and has set it so the text that is being read is highlighted. She sometimes listens to the audio and reads along with the paper book too. It means she is able to get through books much quicker and keep up with her schoolwork. Her vocabulary is improving too as a result.
Couldn’t import book
Absolutely awful app, not at all intuitive. No option to import books, you’ve apparently got to share your file but no option came up to share it with this e-reader. I tried many things on both desktop and mobile and have come to the conclusion that it’s just useless software. How difficult could it be to read a file?
Good app but needs some improvement
This is a good app but it needs some improvement, it should autolock rather than you having to lock manually. Also it needs to rewind and forward by fifteen secs or thirty secs on the lock on screen rather than going back a whole chapter any time you try to rewind. Please resolve these two irritating features asap.
Shame this is so flawed
So there are lots of flaws to this app: 1. If someone phones while you are listening the book does not resume afterwards & when you open the app and hit play it re-sets to the start of your listening session. 2. Sleep timer is still broken. Set 30min (for example) it does stop after 30min but when you go back into the book it used to (pre-update) re-set you back to where you were at the start of the listening session- but since the update it just brings you into the book as if it was the first time you opened it. 3. Some books take 3/4 tries at downloading before they will work. 4. Even if you bookmark your spot now the app re-starts as if it’s not been read. Lots seen to have these issues so rather than asking users to give specifics - fix them. I have raised the sleep timer issue in a live chat on Facebook over a year ago and still nothing has been done. Really unsure why we moved away from overdrive which did a great job without these issues. EDIT - added 3/3/22 - app now won’t let me download books! I have sent emails and no reply.
Good but still forgetful
Despite the latest update, the app is still forgetting audiobook playback position on some titles. I hope this can be fixed soon. Otherwise, a very good and useful app.
Highly recommend!
This app is functional and fit for purpose. I can read the books I want to from my phone and tablet! The EasyReader Premium subscription works wonders by keeping my books saved and syncdfhidin the the same position when reading.
Nice idea but too many bugs on an iPhone at least!
Was quite excited about using this app for my mother’s RNIB and Calibre books, but have found that it doesn’t currently work well enough. 1. I only tried using it a few times, and three times it froze, and I ended up having to reinstall it. 2. I discovered that when this app was installed I could no longer access files on my phone via the cloud.

J’utilise cette application depuis 2 ans env et j’étais très satisfaite. Malheureusement depuis le passage à IOS 13.1.2 je n’arrive plus à intégrer les fichiers que je télécharge dans l’appli. Ils s’ouvrent dans FICHIERS et je n’arrive pas à les copier dans Easyreader. Pouvez vous regarder ce point ?
Unreliable app
The behaviour of the app is inconsistent at best. It still occasionally resets itself back to the beginning. It will also “rewind” amounts of time and doesn’t restart where it left off. The list of libraries randomly resets itself to enable most of the libraries and has now duplicated some of the libraries. It feels wrong to complain about a free app but I rely on the app to be able to listen to audiobooks
Excellent app!
I have only just discovered this app, and can only comment on its abilities to navigate RNIB overdrive, which is what I wanted it for, and all I can say is well done Dolphin, because at long last, somebody has recognised the need to produce a simpler way of navigating what is One of the most cluttered apps I have ever seen!! Using EasyReader, I can now find books on OverDrive in a matter of seconds, double tap borrow and download them, fabulous. I have however one suggestion for improvement: would it be possible on A future app update, to include A link to the Wish List, so that we can add books to it? this would put the icing on the cake for this app for me.

No books in your library
My mum is using this app with RNIB library and often find that when she returns to listen to more of her book she has the message ‘no books in your library’ and the books need to be downloaded again
Trouble Deleting Files
This is a really good app and I use it often. The only problem I have found is that I seem not to be able to delete some of my books, namely RNIB newspapers and RNIB Overdrive books that have expired. The Overdrive books aren't showing on my phone, but the app is taking up so much space that I am assuming this is the cause. I have tried logging out of Overdrive.
