Fantastic App
I was trying to find a means to play audiobooks and kept running into apps that did not keep your place unless you got to the end of a chapter. BookPlayer was the one app that did exactly what I needed. Great app.
Lost all my notes and bookmarks
The latest update made me lose all my bookmarks and notes from hundreds of books! I hate this app now. The note export format is terrible; the notes need to stay within the audio file. They really should have an iCloud backup for notes. I don't understand why they only allow this if you pay such a high monthly fee, especially since it uses my own iCloud. If they charge because they use third-party servers, they should at least provide an option to back up data to our own iCloud. I’m already looking for a more reliable alternative.
BookPlayer
I really appreciate that it is free, and the sleep timer is incredibly useful.
Too bad it doesn’t work on iOS 17
The subject says it: it is a great App; but for some reason it jumps with Apple’s updates, regardless of how sensible those are. My other greatly working devices on version 17 still and I cannot even download this App on those - what a shame!
Autoplay need work
Does what its name implies, plays books. Decent features like sleep settings and bookmarks. Biggest complaint is AutoPlay- have to go back to the app when track ends for the next one to start.
Amazed
Suprised there aren’t any ads, or limits on this app. Bless the creator for making this app free 5/5!
Used to be 99% fantastic
Used to be a great app. Now bugs me so frequently for reviews and stars it’s becoming unusable (despite having done this at least twice before). Looking for a replacement.
App is fantastic, one of the best audiobook players, but…
I use this app every single time I listen to audiobook files, and do believe it is one of the best out there, but do have one or two issues with it. The main issue I have is that there is no way to change the audio equalizer settings on this app. I normally have my phone set for utilizing different types of audio settings for different music types, but those settings do not work as well for spoken word. There is a somewhat easy fix for this, by going into my phone settings and changing it to spoken word whenever I am listening to an audiobook, but then I have to go back and change it again when I am done listening to the book. I would love for this app to be able to make those changes in the app, without having to change my phones audio settings, each and every time I use the app. If that were to change this app would get a 5+ stars but until then I am leaving it at four.
Free OK but Pro bad
It was a surprise and huge disappointment in Pro version. I paid my money for cloud sync only to discover it is still beta and not syncing files properly.
Still testing, but review has been updated
I can't find any way to access my audio books on my Google drive. I checked the GitHub site, but there's no help there. :( I’ve received a response from the developer and can now access my Google Drive. Trying to find time to test it further.
Best Audiobook Player
I have listened to hundreds of books on BookPlayer. It has never crashed or lost my place in the book. One of the most solid apps I have ever used. Just get it.
Worthless
If you own epubs trying to transfer from Dropbox to BookPlayer is one of the most frustrating experiences ever. Mostly thanks to iOS horrible file management issues.
Some apps just click.
I love this app. I have quite a few audiobooks and this player is so clean and intuitive. I use it daily
Might as well go back to audible
This is a great audiobook player but the problem is the pro subscription. The sync barely works and freezes more often than not at this point I might as well just subscribe back to audible
Bug

Love it
Absolutely love it! But would love a way to rate books and leave notes/ descriptions. Love that it has a filing system! Makes my OCD happy ☺️
2 Major Issues
I upgraded to the paid version, because I like to support good apps. However, I’m having 2 major issues with this app. I hope someone fixes these! 1. Barfs (silently) when importing a larger file (around 900MB) - it only copies the first 3 hours of the 22 hour M4B audio file. 2. Major issue when a file is deleted from a folder in BookPlayer and a new updated version is copied in (in my case, it’s from a local network storage server). For whatever reason, BookPlayer restores the DELETED version that was inside BookPlayer before. I double/triple checked thinking the problem was with the actual file, but it wasn’t. I played the updated audio file in another player and it was the expected new version. Please fix this caching issue.
Apple car play
The car play app is not presenting the last played chapter and the status of it
Wonderful
It's always working and you can listen offline
Great App gone bad
It was a wonderful app. They made it bad and now ask for a tip! Here’s my tip: put it back like it was!
Favorite audiobook player!!
Great app that I use daily. Only major gripe is that some settings seems to randomly reset even while playing a file. For some reason the chapter context setting for playback controls resets multiple times a day
Doesn’t seem to want to play now on IPhone Air on ios2
Just moved to IPhone Air - won’t play not sure if it needs a new update but can’t listen to anything.
Teilweise technische Probleme
Amazing app
I’ve been using this app for around a year now and I really love it. I don’t have anything to complain about. I really love how i can download books to my watch since I can’t have my phone out at work.
No chapter loop
I’m searching for an audiobook app that will let me loop a chapter. This one doesn’t. The watch app also seems pretty sub-par.
Suggestion
Allow for chapter bookmarking.
Files disappear
Some downloaded MP3 files simply disappear on their own or the system stops seeing them. Tired of downloading the same files to my phone several times.
Excellent App, but overpriced
5 star app. 1 star subscription price. Tried many of these apps. This one is very nice and possibly one of the best, but not at the price they ask for the “pro” features. $70 a year is insane, and no offer for lifetime purchase.
VERY Good Book Player
WOW. Just yesterday i found that the player’s sleep timer can be set to automatically restart when resuming the book. That’s a GODSEND to a person who falls asleep to a book and wants to fall asleep again to the book if awakened during the night, yet not have the book run all night. Holy mackerel, that’s superb.
Exactly what I need
This is the app you’re looking for if you want to play your own audiobooks or podcast series files. It has all the features I could want and they are well executed to say the least.
Great app with a catch!
I very rarely leave reviews for apps but this app is really very good even if you just use the free version. I use this daily, the only thing that would make it a 5 star review is making it a one time purchase and not a subscription for the paid app. I can just subscribe to Audible for the price it costs per month for this app, so until that happens it is a 4 star review from me. But I do highly highly recommend this app and thank the developer for it!
Far too naggy
This was a 4 or 5 star app but the repeated intrusive nagging for payments is making me look at alternatives
Best of all time.
How could you ask for anything more?
Annoying
Begs for money daily when I open the app now, very annoying
FanTASTIC
Works flawlessly
Good app, but pro is too expensive
I love the app, used to be my main audiobook app. Until I wanted an audiobook player with iCloud backup. I switched apps, but kept bookplayer as a backup, specially it does have more feature. But now when I thought maybe I should switch back, I find out the features I want the most are locked behind a subscription. Now I don’t mind a subscription for apps I use heavily, but here is the thing, 70CAD per year is too much!! There are services out there that give you full audiobook libraries for around this amount. A more reasonable pricing, and/or adding lifetime option, would make the app pro tier more appealing.
Great app, too expensive
I have recently been seeing pop ups encouraging me to subscribe for £4.99/month. While I appreciate the efforts put into this app I think this price is excessive as I can get a subscription to audible for £7.99 and get a book/month. I deleted and installed Bound, it seems to be fully featured and has a one off payment of £4.99.
amazing
this app is exactly what i was looking for. i like downloading audiobook files for free online but its too hard to listen to them from my files app so i was looking for an app that would let me save my place in the book. it also divided the audio file i was trying to listen to into chapters and im not even sure how it could do that but it did and im grateful for that. i also love that u get the option to pay for more features but u get to CHOOSE a price u think is fair. u get all the main stuff for free and the extra stuff for whatever price u can afford. definitely recommend choosing this app out of all the others🙏🏼
Great but too greedy
This app is great, it’s the only free app with airplay support and I’ve been recommending it everywhere to everyone. There’s the option for a subscription or to leave a tip but I have no use for the extra features. However, as of lately, there’s a full screen request for subscription every time I open the app and there’s no way of closing it without tapping on the tip jar page. This is unacceptable! I understand that they need money, but this is not the way. Harassing the users into subscribing to an expensive service that offers little to no extra value for this app won’t give you more subscribers but rather make you lose loyal users.
Love this
Really robust and easy to use. Only lacks integration with iOS’s audio system, so it doesn’t show up in the ‘recently listened to’ options on the lock screen. Otherwise, love it.
£4.99 a month is too expensive for something I only use occasionally
If I left an excellent tip, would the nagging stop for a few weeks? I don’t want to pay every month because I only use this occasionally. And I don’t want to support development costs as this seems to be focused on Apple watches at present. I can’t afford nor desire an Apple Watch. UPDATE: A tip does indeed get rid of the splash screen, according to posts on Reddit. HOWEVER, it wouldn’t have taken a lot of effort by the developer to reply to a few of these reviews that users have taken the time and trouble to leave. He used to frequently reply, but now just silence. A simple explanation (to my review or one of the others with similar concerns) would have been helpful but it just gives the impression that he cannot be bothered anymore and that the app will be wound down. SO, do I invest some money here and hope this app stays afloat, or jump to a competitor like Bound which seems more upfront with it’s pricing structure? I do still like Bookplayer but the seeming indifference by the developer to our concerns does leave a lot to be desired.

Awesome
Very easy. Works well. I highly recommend.
Ruined by Full Screen Ads
This used to be a great App when free. A full screen Ad has been added that requires an app restart to remove along with a demand for a “Tip” to remove ads, or to pay a ridiculous subscription. There are others on the store that are a fork of this that is still fully free and plenty of others.
It’s good
Please add support for PCloud so I can stream my files from there.
Started nagging for money
This is a really good free app for playing audio books but the 4.99 per month subscription to support the app is just too expensive realistically for what it is. Recently it’s started popping up asking for money each time I open the app with no easy way to skip. It’s just happening a bit too often to be reasonable, so I hope this gets adjusted, an occasional prompt wouldn’t be a problem but every time isn’t right.
One-time purchase, please
This could be the best audiobook app ever. But! I don’t believe there are crazy people who pay every month or year. Make a one-time purchase of $10-15 - this is not a service where you can pay constantly, because you do not create the audiobooks yourself.
