Crashes a lot
I can’t even get it to work on my iPad. It just crashes as soon as I open it. A reinstall doesn’t fix it. It’s a shame because I would love it otherwise.
Almost there
My favourite reader with the great page flip animations but wish I could add folders instead of having to drag files to the shared folder or sharing to the app. Glitches and crashes sometimes on different devices. Love it overall.

Sorry app designer, I was wrong! Pretty nice ebook app.
In my previous review my main issue wasn't with the app (Unbeknownst to me) but with Apple's implementation of the orientation API) After I accepted that and came to terms with having to keep the screen level while reading its more acceptable. I still think think it needs more touch zone options and features, but as I'm using it in its free format its acceptable.

Honest review
The voices can be a little bit better and it sometimes varies in which voice uses it for certain sentences at random and it struggles with a few words that are not common, but a pretty good
Jumps pages
I liked this app. Not so much anymore. It jumps pages without any sign that it has done so. It did it in one book. I forgave it as a temp glitch. Now it just did it, twice in another book. Be good if pocketbook is reading and acting on this. Posting a day later - and again. Same. When I changed from Scroll to flip view, completely skipped the chapter !!!
Freezes On Unlock
By far my favorite reader app but if I lock my ipad with a book open the app freezes and has to be restarted upon unlock. Very irritating when almost everything else is great.
So versatile and handy
I really appreciate that I don’t have to select all of the text I want my device to read aloud. This is a great feature!

Needs to be able to sync books across devices All are connected to the same account. But iPad shows different set while iPhone shows a different set. Should be able to help the user to understand if it’s the store account issue.

Gotten very slow
Loved this app for a long time but it has gotten very slow lately. Every time I turn the page it gets stuck loading. Re-opening my most recent book takes forever. I switched to scrolling mode hoping that it wouldn’t hang as often, and it does help but the formatting is wonky because the page breaks still appear as gaps in the text. Images appear as thumbnails, trying to zoom in takes so long I often force-close the app to get it to respond again and never actually get to see the image because everything actually reloads in an even smaller size. It has literally been loading for the entire time I’ve been writing this review and I’m still waiting for a single image. In fact, it has somehow mangled all books in this time, rendering it completely unusable.

Poor Rhythm
The TTS functionality is not good with this app. The app reads in a very staccato fashion. There is a noticeable lack of appropriate pauses. It lacks the sophisticated AI driven cadence found in other apps. Until the flow and expression of reading is addressed, it’s hard to recommend this for anyone.

Common bug that makes this virtually useless. Either add a free floating highlighter or fix this
text size slider inconvenient
good app, but text size slider is too sensitive, it is difficult to set desired text size, +/- buttons would be better

So close…
Since Apple Books started offloading all my books without asking I decided to find an alternative. I was impressed enough with the app to buy a Verse Pro and have enjoyed that as well. But since I have experienced quite a few bugs I’m looking at using KOReader and syncing with Readest instead. There are just too many random errors and crashes when using this app. The UI also could use some polish (the serif font is called sans-serif, how embarrassing…). It would be great to have more layout customization and the ability to add custom fonts. Also page turn using volume buttons. Support for different aspect ratio covers, reduced branding, responsiveness over superfluous animations, and native controls would all help this feel more professional.

I like the interface and functionality over FBReader but the constant crashes make it unusable.

Stock themes are terrible, black theme has gray text instead of white, so it strains eyes. There is no way to set your own colors.

Since I updated to ios26 on my iPad the pocketbook reader app keeps crashing. It will open then automatically close again. I cannot access my books. Any advice?

Crashing after downloading / loading a LCP protected EPUB
Great app with one major flaw
Overall experience is phenomenal, but there when using the default renderer on EPUB files (using iPhone 17pro on iOS 26), the last 1.5 lines of EVERY chapter are completely cut off. This makes for a very infuriating experience. A fix for this would be greatly appreciated.
Wait a minute... this doesn't support *color*?
I don't know if this is just a bug that wasn't fixed or intentional, but every PDF I tried appeared to be in black and white, which is fine for just text, but unacceptable for anything else. None of the settings seem to even reference this.

If you have advanced protection activated on your Google account (e.g. passkey), there's no way to sync with Google drive. I like the reader but this bug is very important for me and would be nice to see it fixed.

Depuis 3 jours, les pièces jointes de type “.docx” s’ouvrent dans Pocket Book, et non dans Word, sans que j’aie voulu ce changement. Comment se débarrasser de cette option? Je n’ai pas trouvé, dans les paramètres, où désctiver cette option.

First off, I just want to say that I love this app; it works great! Buuuuttt, there is a new bug. When using liquid glass with the widget all of the book covers turn a bright white. Im not sure what happened because they were fine not too long ago. I even tried to delete the app, and reinstall it, all to no avail. Devs, I appreciate you for putting your hard work and dedication into this app, but pretty please fix this bug‼️🐜 The liquid glass was so pretty, I miss it :,(

Great app with some issues
This has been my go-to app for all my reading on my device, it handles most of the file formats that one comes across (from djvu to mobi to epub to pdf, etc.) Recently I’ve doubled my local library in size and the app has just stopped reading the files, I can’t use the app at all. It’s not clear to me why or what caused this but that’s why me the rating 3 stars. Which is unfortunate because when this app was working, it was in my experience the best reader on the App Store. If this issue ever gets fixed I would certainly change my rating to 5 stars

I can upload as many ebooks as I want, no ads, auto-scroll option, and many other features that I loved.
Definitely don’t update
They messed up the last update big time. Books don’t work, just get stuck on the loading icon, and battery drains like crazy. It’s insane that the ebook developers doesn’t test their ebook reader to make sure it can still read ebooks.

This app is amazing. It has everything..except one thing. I have ADHD and I love reading. Sometimes it is SO difficult to read just the pages without the audiobook or an audiobook without the pages. I started listening to audiobooks while following along in the pages over a year ago. Reading this way helps me retain the information better without getting distracted with my own thoughts- it's called immersive reading. When I saw that this app has an ebook and audiobook feature I was excited! But I quickly found out that you can't do both- listen to the audiobook and read the ebook- at the same time in the app. I was devastated because I have yet to find an app that does this and I have to use two different apps to achieve this and have cloud syncing as well. I do love this app though, way better than ibooks. I just wish the audiobook would keep playing as I go to read the ebook!
Impossible to get my books
I have this App and after renew my books stayed in a Cloud and all the time I am trying to take them out app is fail and the only thing I can do is delete the app and after them all the information has disappeared and again and again, so now I can see 10 books instead of 93. Support told me to use my iCloud but I could download one book or couple of them, only all of them but the download is always failed and to get my 10 I should delete App again.

The app opens to product splashscreen and disappears within 2 seconds...used to work ok.

An excellent app for reading books! Tons of options, including text to speech. I will use this thing forever if it is not messed with or changed so please keep it this good. So many great settings for ease and productivity. I’ve read 11 books through this app and I won’t stop any time soon.
don’t download, won’t work
possibly the worst app to read books on, keeps crashing, doesn’t let you exit normally within the app, you have to close and re open the app every time, slow even on a new device.

Appearance keeps going back to dark theme
Every time I open a ebook, it goes back to dark theme even though I changed it to white. I want the app to remember the theme I selected for a given ebook.

Not at all intuitive for a first-time user, a lot of the settings are hidden in unexpected places, making it pretty frustrating to get started. I personally find the scroll mode far too touchey to be usable. However, once you get over the entry barrier, the app is decent.
