Ripe off
Paid for full version before and now being told I have to repurchase due to new version off the app total rip off
LOVE THIS APP!
A bit buggy but great
Awesome app but..
I like the with the seamless adding of some manga I have, my biggest gripe comes to light novels tho, I hate that I canāt even read them because they donāt really work with epub which I really love more than PDFs. Besides that the app is amazing would recommend it.
A okay appā¦
Panels is a great app, but its page turning is low quality and laggy. I do wish more files were compatible and the app took up less space. And it sometimes doesnāt even load in the bookā¦.
Love this app
With its support of OPDS and it's image filters it has made reading my digital manga collection so much better than before. Very happy with the App!
Reinstalled after a whileā¦wtf happened
Leave for a year. Come back and itās like a completely different app. A store?!! My old server no longer connected. Yay.
Hi
If you leave and come back, it brings you to a different page
Get rid of the store
There are enough markets. I just wanted a reader app, not another thing trying to sell me things. At least let us remove it from the main navigation. I promise you I will never spend a dollar there, and if it becomes unavailable Iāll have to switch to a new app.
Webtoon is buggy
Webtoon force rendering in the dynamic island area, which leaves an ugly black hole on my comics. Need to block the ugly dynamic island area in webtoon continuous mode. Or at least fix the paginated logic, when I scroll up to previous page, take me to the end of the previous page, not the beginning of it. IT IS THE END OF THE PREVIOUS PAGE THAT CONNECTS TO THE BEGINNING OF THE NEXT PAGE. This is comic common sense!!!
Great reader app.
Way better than expected. Great and easy to use
Garbage
This worked for a while and then suddenly the Downloads section just broke. It wonāt load anymore. I have 75GB of content downloaded. Now my options are to not have access to them or try to delete the app and redownload all of it. Spectacular. I have comic apps that havenāt been update in over 5 years that donāt screw up this bad. If you read locally avoid this app. Update: I ended up clearing the cache, rebooting multiple times, offloading snd reinstalling the app, and I even let it sit and load for an hour. It eventually loaded 4 comics and then when I clicked expand it went back to infinite loading. I decided to just delete it and start over. Surprise the OPDS connection doesnāt work anymore either. Itās stuck āLoadingā. But donāt worry the truly important part of this local comic book reader app worksā¦THE DIGITAL STORE! Canāt believe I got scammed out of $20 so these guys could bait and switch priorities. Iāll be moving back to Chunky as it still works despite being abandoned.
PanelsView
Simple and clean. The only thing Iād love to see is PanelsView being better. I know itās low priority but the marvel unlimited app really kills it with Smart Panels. Very cinematic while capturing the entire panel 98% of the time, and the full page before or after is amazing. Would really love to see this feature + more in the Panels app. Loving it so far though, thank you.
Only good for imports
No store search and itās probably because the content. Itās all LGBT, antifa, and anti-capitalism stuff. There is nothing Japanese, itās all westerner published things. You need to import manga if thatās what you want. Iām sure there are licensing issues but honestly, Iād rather just buy a physical manga instead. If other apps wonāt let you keep it forever, itās not worth using them either. If you have the files, Panels works well for that. No page search or structure but it can handle right-to-left reading and remembers where you left off.
Stopš
Please stop giving me pops ups to review it (even when you actually do review it I will give you a pop up to review it every time you leave a book)
Great app
I love how i can sync my reading progress across multiple devices. In general itās an amazing app, great ui , great settings option and the free mode doesnāt feel too restrictive.
get rid of the store
i remember when this app was cool
Left-hand panel bug.
The panel on the left side keeps re-adjusting itself when opening the app again. Itās very annoying unfortunately. I want it to be minimized as small as possible. Or can we completely hide it in a toggle menu completely?
Used to be five starsā¦
Incorporated buttons which canāt be used or disabled without subscription. Permanently on your screen as you read.
It got bad
Latest update broke the library, every single time I need to re-link the information
Best comic reader all around
Never have any issues reading my stuff, web upload works flawlessly, love panels!
Last Review Got Removed
I bought this for the panel by panel but there is a large pop up over each page loading but this will get removed again (because I updated this previously to mention another app that does panel by panel better for like 3 bucks) I will change this to 5 stars when they fix the panel by panel massive popup saying analyzing page on each page turn
Best App For Reading Comics By Far
Iāve been reading the whole entire invincible comics, demon slayer manga, spider man comics, moon knight comics, etc. And surprisingly I havenāt got any ads and itās also very easy to use, however my only flaw with it is that only takes a bit to load for the next page for me š«©
Too many issues
+2 stars for being able to display cbz images and connect to smb -3 stars for having too many usability issues and having b*lls to charge $25 CAD āservice feeā for it. Sent email about issues and none has been fixed 6 months later. Email not responded to either. So much about āwe respond to emailsā. Hope this helps others: - reading sessions been empty for months , have to get to the menu āall reading sessionsā to resume - no way to sort titles in many views, e.g. when Iām adding a new title to the library Iād like to see the last one added first , not alphabetical - restarting app sometimes goes to the library instead of the current comic being read - removing margins only works on the first open comic, fails with error when continuing on to the next one in the series - no way to preset removing margins option for all comics - zoomed pages are reset to no zoom when navigating pages back and forth - reopening smb share resets to the root, not the last one visited - no way to sort smb folder or title lists other than default alphabetical - if you tap outside of the import popup by accident you restart from the root of course - continuing to the next title in series page 1 then closing the app will reopen with previous title in series last page, you have to navigate to page 2 for it to work - removing margins algorithm is pretty poor This was just off the top of my head. Panels dev team seems to not understand the concept of app usability or testing thoroughly before asking for money. Good enough is what you get. For $25 CAD per year.
Overall a good reader
Great that comics can be organized and moved how you want to do so. A little glitchy here and there but mostly a good tool.
Good
Really Good for indie comics
Broken
They seem to have broken the basic functionality of their app trying to find a way to monetize it. I redownloaded after a few months, now on a new phone, I canāt get anything to actually import, and now it makes my phone hotter than it does when running a 3D game. Itās clunkier in every way. But hey, at least thereās a store now. I get they need to make a living but their priorities are way off
a would-be-5
if only there was an offsetting option for paginated reading. When the file doesn't line up, it's too tedious to have to flip pages on continuous mode! please introduce this feature!
Never Ending Glitch in a Loop
Support Info: Version: 3.7.4 Build: 793 Env: Production Support Identifier: DB3C0A0A-5CA6-4DA9-944F-C44BEE17C997 I lose my paid annual subscription settings every single time I get offline, forcing me to find wifi and having to restore purchases, every single time. Not sure i want to pay for another year, if this glitch continues. Tried to get help via Discord, no one ever got back to me.
Needs an offset button
This is a clean and very functional comic reader, but it desperately needs an āoffset double spreadsā button for when in two page horizontal view. If that got added to the free tier settings then it would be a 5/5.
Organization
Love the app! Please fix the āmanualā sort filter as iām not able to completely fulfill my reading orders.
No metadata support
Does not support any kind of comic metadata. When importing manga, users need to manually switch reading direction. Comic "titles" are just the filename, and there is no way to sort or filter by any other data field, because they are not read by this app. Devs say they will implement this in an upcoming major version, but it's been 3 versions already without this feature.
very cool
the payed stuff is kinda annoying and if you don't have a good way to download content storage is annoying otherwise great for reading (very legally acquired) manga. :D
Excellent!
Simple, fluid interface that integrates your comic library seamlessly. Would definitely recommend this app to my fellow comics readers. Edit: just wish there was a feature in Vertical Scroll mode where the pages fill the screen and stay locked (if that makes sense) Update: all of the simplest features that used to be free are now behind a paywall š they basically fixed what wasnāt broken and overcomplicated the simplest and best comic reading app. Will be uninstalling š
App is great
App is wonderful, love all the features and itās overall a cinch to use. Unfortunately, the app tends to crash at least once every 10 or so minutes while reading. I am unsure whether or not itās my device causing it to crash or the app is just buggy itselfā¦
Best Reader!
Best comics/books reader that Iāve used. The recently added store is a great resource for products to read! I read all of my .pdf files though Panels!
Pages taking forever to load
Ever since the last update, comic pages take forever to load, even after haven been downloaded. When I turn the page, the screen is black with only a gallery icon in the middle. The screen stays like this for like 5 seconds on every other page. Developers. Please fix this or I will be moving to another comics app.
Great but wish
Great and best one out there- but wish in landscape mode it could portray just a single page Not a two page spread!
Good but expensive
The app is good. It's clean, well organized, easy to use, and smooth. However, the fact that they try to get you into a subscription for what are pretty basic features is ridiculous. I won,d be open to a one time cost, but the price they want to charge (around $25 CAD) is way too expensive for an app that is Essen iaklt a glorified pdf reader. Worth a few bucks max.
Possibly good
Price doesnāt seem to reflect what I would use it for. Might be better then just using safari to access my own server but safari is free to access self hosted media.
The best comics reader, hands down
Iāve been using Panels for years and Iāll never need another reader app. Panels handles everything from reading to organizing, and does so with a straightforward, no-subscription-necessary interface. If given the chance, Iād happily buy Panels again just to support the sort of creators who make something genuinely worthwhile without nickel and diming their customers to death.
App will no longer open
After the latest apple updates on iPad app just keeps crashing every time I open it never gets off the panels opening screen, deleted and reinstalled same thing is happening.
Perfect Manga/Comic App if they fix a bug
This is an amazing comic/manga reader with all the functionality I could possibly want out of it, at least for me. Itās got that āit just worksā factor to it, and happily reverses the reading direction which I love as primarily a manga reader. Itās helped me fall back in love with reading, and with how great it is I was happy to support the developers by buying the full version, even though I probably didnāt need much of the added functionality. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is Iām experiencing a bug where the app will freeze then crash my iPad every few weeks due to a memory leak. So far offloading then factory resetting my app temporarily solves this problem but it is a bit annoying. Given the quality of service the developers have though Iād be surprised if they didnāt address it soon though.
Blurry manga
For some reason it makes my imported manga really blurry, but when I open it in the file manager itās crystal clear. No idea why it makes the pictures so blurry. The overlay and functionality seems nice, but itās unusable like this unfortunately.
How to use?
How do I search titles? Do you need a subscription to read series? Wanted to read invincible comics if possible
Fantastic for comics and manga
Using ODPS I can stream comics from my server easy, only change I would request is the ability to go to the next comic in the folder structure, like a next or back button. Thank you devs ā¤ļøš!
No cover art
Why have a comic app but not have cover art? I imported several comics from my own library, which was on another app that showed cover art, and not one single comic is showing cover art. Guess Iāll be using Chunky or YACReader instead. Zero stars.
Frustratingly still not what I need this to be
Panels 3 has iCloud sync excellent job works great for the most part. Able to connect to Komga server great job. Not able to sort library by release date. Unacceptable. I am able to do this when accessing komga from a web page. Should be able to do it here for both iCloud and OPDS servers. all Iām looking for, is for reader to be able to add a few comics to iCloud and be able to organize and read from oldest to newest. Being able to organize files by the metadata already in the comics would be ideal Edit; after further usage perhaps I was a little harsh with my previous review and thank you for letting me vent. The reader and iCloud sync is very slick and I have come up with an alternative way of determining reading order until the metadata functionality has been added.
I would give it higher, butā¦
ā¦ this app always seems to forget which comic I was reading every time I close it. If you only have one or two it would not be so bad but when you load a series of comics and have to scroll through the list every time to find the one you where in the middle of it is really stupid.
Slight issue but good overall.
Hoping there is a fix coming for the thumbnail not corresponding with the actual issue that opens, as well as having entire folders represented as blank outlines or white cover pages.
