Easy to plan my walks
I really like the Footpath app! I love being able to plan and map out my walks ahead of time, so I know exactly where Iâm going and how far I want to walk. I also really like that it keeps track of what Iâve already completed. It makes it easy to see my progress and keeps me motivated to keep walking. Definitely a great app for anyone who enjoys walking and wants to keep track of their routes and progress!
Major roads arenât footpaths as far as Iâm awareâŠrubbish
Iâve been using this app for a while, the free version I might add, if you map things little by little itâs ok but if you want to map from here to there it takes you on major roads đ€Ż Iâm a runner! I donât think running down a dual carriageway or motorway is a safe footpath, very disappointing
Great For Bike Ride Planning but Navigation Needs Work
I really like being able to plan and revise my cycling routes. The way points feature is great when plotting stops and special places. What needs improvement is the navigation and cues. Trail and street names on the route are often changed in the cues. It suggests too far in advance the next move without making it clear when Iâve reached that turn or directional change. I have repeatedly gotten lost on rides because of this so I do my best to memorize the route in advance of the ride. Despite this, I do recommend and will continue using the app for itâs planning, map downloading and sharing, plus itâs annual fee for the premium features is modest and worth it.
Not accurate for distance
At first I thought the app was great, allowing me easily to pre plan run routes while also have gps tell me which way to go while on my run but upon actually going on a run I realise the distance wasnât accurate. I had preplanned a 5km run then went on the run. I was also wearing my Apple Watch. I finish this loop in 23 minutes. It normally takes me 40 minutes to do a 5K I have not improved that quickly as much as I would like to say I have. And upon looking at my Apple Watch, I had only run 2.6 Km. Due to this I will no longer be using the app

Me and my son walked 2 miles every evening and I use this app to mark our route every day. We love it. He's just nine months old. He don't know about it but it but it helps me

Updated 2026/08/16- still a good value! Hiking - mostly great! But the available maps donât give all the information one might want. I suspect it is the map repository and not necessarily the app. Boating - it is fine, but clearly one wouldnât use it by itself. A proper boating app like orca is needed. Driving seems to work properly đ€·ââïž Biking- mostly works great. I had an incident where it took me up onto an active gravel pit. Check your route. From original: So I havenât used it a ton yet, but it looks promising and hereâs why: 1- use what ever mode you want - boat, walking bike and car- perhaps moređ 2- it finds a route by drawing it or selecting a end point - and/or a start point! What I havenât quite used or figured out: - navigation part - the âgoâ button - how well the path for hiking works - if it is the best route for driving/walking/biking. By best I mean the one that would make sense and be best for what ever mode you choose. Anyway, it will be interesting to test it out. Finally, I would add, If it does most of what it offers, then the price point makes it a good value!

Best routing app
This app rocks so hard. As a very insane person who trail runs 50-80 miles a week, I use this app on an almost daily basis. One thing I LOVE about it is how easy it is for o use, export and share routes. One thing I think it has over other apps is you can route a path over terrain that may or may not have trail which is really key if u know there is a trail right on the other side, also great use while traveling when I didnât download maps when traveling in London. 10/10 HAVE recommended this app to all my runner friends
Doesn't work
Really cool app until it completely quit working. Tried multiple devices but it just freezes up and quits
Great except for drawing the route
The application works beautifully, as advertised. I especially like the turn-by-turn instructions (this can be silenced), and the live tracking on the map. The ability to save routes, and reverse them, is a big plus. This app is made bicycling a lot more interesting. My only beef is the difficulty drawing a route: connecting a previous segment to the new one that you are drawing â it can take multiple tries to get it to âtake.â It would also be nice to have the route begin recording immediately â I always forgot to start it. Maybe itâs a preference you could set.

The map doesnât follow a natural curved path. It snaps in a straight line so itâs hard to get an accurate distance
Running app that makes sense
I love this app and its features. It is easy to tell the routes and where they go and find it clean and easy to understand.

Emailed for help no response
My app keeps freezing on os maps. Loses things etc. Iâve deleted reinstalled. I have fast fibre stable still getting periodic issues and not always snapping.
Really wanted this to work
Switched to this app after another platform was taken over and bricked by a competitor. Really wanted this to work but the planning tools are so clunky and a unreliable that it is often unusual - it sticks on footpaths that should run on and sends you off down crazy loops and u-turns when the linkage between two paths is obvious. The lack of any facility to share routes / search others routes is a real gap too - itâs what other similar platforms thrive on and is sadly missed here. That aside, if you can get it to recognize the path you want to take, saving and export to Gamrin etc is very well implemented.

No longer opens
No longer opens app after the latest update. It just stays on the splash screen.
Couple of points to consider
First, if you are on a hike and decide to turn back for any reason you need to stop the hike you are currently on, and program a new hike beginning at your current location and ending at your starting location. To me, this is a huge safety flaw as returning to start point is likely to be your first choice when something goes wrong during your hike (injury, unexpected conditions on the trail, unexpected weather changes, etc.). This should be an easy to use feature with one button or easy-to-find screen option. In short, the app is great for planning a hike, but not so great at keeping you safe if things change. Second, on the Apple series watches it is difficult to toggle between the map-screen and the cue-sheet as the icons are small with a confusing layout. (No direct toggle). Apparently, itâs easier on the Apple Watch Ultra as that watch has a function button that can be programmed to do this.
App feels unloved
The app feels like itâs been put out to pasture. For example, even 1-2 years later, no dark icon (and icon is designed in such a way that Apple canât even fake one). Surely not that hard to do. Itâs really jarring on my iPad with dark mode enabled. Used to be on the home screen but had to remove it.
Good but could be better
I wish you didnât have to pay for navigation. Like that should be any essential for a route planner. Devs pls just make this an option.
The BEST
Use this app every day for years to plan out my runs, bike rides, and walks. Amazing to track and add up accurate mileage! Couldnât recommend it more !!

Incredibly useful app with a few minor UX flaws
This app has been incredibly useful as I train for longer distances and need to plan those runs for specific lengths. Especially valuable when youâre trying to get a certain distance while traveling somewhere youâre not used to. Itâs so well-designed for that purpose that Iâm surprised when little user experience quirks pop up: for example, while itâs very clear how to start creating a route, saving it can only be done if you intuit that the icon usually meaning âshareâ or âexportâ (a box in the upper right-hand corner of the route-editing screen) is actually what you tap to do that. I have other small kvetches but they shouldnât obscure the fact that this is a great tool that I highly recommend.

Leider kam ich mit dieser App einfach nicht zurecht. Habe schon viele Navis ausprobiert, aber bei keiner hatte ich solche Probleme wie mit Footpath! Mal zeigte die App an Kreuzung nicht an wohin es geht oder bei Abweichung wurde keine Alternativ Route gezeigt. Manchmal war mir nicht klar ob die Route gestartet ist oder nicht. Die Bedienung ist meiner Ansicht nach völlig unausgereift. Muss aber nicht bedeuten dass alles so ist und ich einfach unfÀhig bin mit dieser App umzugehen.
Not working at all since new update
Used to work on os18 but now not working at all tried reloading a few times. Will have to look for another app.

Easy to use
Iâm a bit of a technophobe but finding this easy to use. Set up a route on the app on my iPad but can do the phone as well. Just be careful because sometimes the route will go the long way round after you tap a point along the path. Id like a bit more detail like os map level detail but itâs fine. Best thing was out in the real world using it. Sent turn by turn directions to both my watch and phone. More details on the phone screen but I could have managed using just my watch. Confident I wonât get lost now.
Hard to use
Its very difficult to plan a run with this app. When u draw on the map exactly where the roads is supposed to be, the app many time put the trail on a another road

I create my route and it doesnât save it on iPhone. I start a route in Apple Watch and it doesnât save on iPhone. I have had this problem for years . This app simply doesnât work at all

Helps plans routes tells you distance and time itâll take which can help be more organised or get around areas you donât know or want to discover
Waste of time.
I just wasted way too much time trying to map a route. The legend is confusing. The path routes thru absurd paths rather than continuing on the current path. I the trial of the paid version solely so I could get more insight into the bike trails but that map doesnât exist in my area. The idea is good if it was the least bit user friendly. Delete!
Average app
It stops your music whenever it gives instructions which is super annoying and distracting, Ive tried using it on my watch but it does the same, I find that it gives the cues a little too late sometimes so I end up going the wrong way and I hate that it canât automatically create routes for you.
Perfect running app for me
Iâve never left a review on the App Store but Iâve been using this app for about a month and itâs exactly what I was looking for. I can plan a route and see how many miles itâll be and I can track my route to see my pace and how far Iâve gone. Thatâs all I need and this app is so simple and perfect for that! Devs, pls donât change a thing

Honestly, a really good map. But I had issues over many months and reached out to customer service a few times. They didnât respond once. I guess they built and app and called it done. Very poor representation on their part.

Bike path
I bought it 6 years ago and have been always useful , the maps work so smoothly and everything is clean and easy to use,but for me it became useless when they started to need to pay a monthly subscription just to see the bike maps!! I already paid the app I find unacceptable that i cant even buy this vital function separately in app purchases, the maps they use are free online I really don t understand.

Love how you can draw and the map clicks lines to the grid. But, all distances displayed are incorrect. It states more than what actually is.
Great for Roads and Trails
A great app for finding trails and custom driving routes. I started using this app as a metro bus driver to help me save and learn routes. Some streets didnât snap, but it has the option to manually draw routes. As a hiker and trail runner, I have gotten to love this app to plan my runs. It shows both paved trails and dirt trails. It allows me to categorize the trails or routes in groups. And the subscription price is reasonable.
Wonât work for hiking in UK
This app should be great but it wonât work for hiking in the UK. The map doesnât show footpaths which are available for public use, or bridleways or byways. Here the UK you can only hike on these unless youâre jn Scotland. Itâs good for road cycling and nothing else.
Benefits over Apple Watch tracking?
Like the interface and ability to create routes, but what are the benefits of using this over the tracking in fitness app on watch which records my route and saves directly to Apple fitness?
Can be very frustrating
Frustrating when it continuously assumes my path! Lots of effort required to measure out a run. Often more than its worth. It is a good concept though.
Super helpful but flawed
Incredibly practical for planning runs, but inability to edit within routes (or at least figure out how to do so easily) makes it incredibly frustrating if you need to modify something along the route.
