Downloaded the app, opened it and tried to close an ad for some library but it directed me to safari and then wouldn’t let me leave and kept opening apple pay for me to subscribe to I have no idea what!Immediately deleted the app

All it does is ask what language I use and that’s it! Am I missing something?
Beware Google links
I don’t have the pro version so ads are displayed at the top of the app screen. Every ad has some form of “Activate your app” and leads directly to a payment page.

Verification??
I used for the first time in a long time today. Having found my destination I clicked on navigation in Apple Maps and was provided a verification link. This was for a free trial for one day after which I would be charged £34.99 a month on Apple Pay. This verification will not go away even after deleting and reinstalling the app. I’ll be deleting it permanently if this continues

Excellent navigation part but app ruined by adverts
A google ad for an app I have zero interest in takes up the top 1/4 of the screen with no way to remove it! Hmm no thanks, I’ll not be using w3w unless I absolutely have to. You sold out to google, shame!
Not very helpful
I had the app loaded but when I wanted to use it I had to do it again and would be charged. That’s not good in an app that you might need in a hurry. Now I’m being hassled to change my name.

Privacy Concerns
Mobile phone location is already automatically given to the emergency services via AML which is free and open source. Starting to question what use there is for a bloated 230MB App which has ties to India and China!!!

I have never used this before
They’ve spammed the app
Had for years but not logged in as only used for emergencies etc. logged in when I needed it to find I needed to create an account and login along with spam ads appearing. Can you imagine anything worse in an emergency from an app that had such a clear simple purpose. As a minimum keep the spam but ignore the need to login. Just creates barriers to information in an emergency. Sure you’ll earn less but you won’t be sell outs and will likely save more people who discover that same barrier in a worse situation
What Three Actual?
This is a vital app for first responders and others hiking through wilderness territory and now you have to pay for it? Shame on you! Get your income from advertising, not first aiders, Scouts and teachers!

Was impressed but now disgusted
I have in the past used what3words on many occasions to navigate by to tell friends where I was and to tell council about holes in the road. I find I’m now unable to use it unless I enter my bank card and download an app I didn’t want. I tried to enter my credit card number as I don’t want to use bank card but it was rejected I’m! I’ve now deleted it! Heaven help me if I need to call an emergency service when I’m out and about. This is a retrograde step as the times per year I use it doesn’t warrant paying for the service.
Subscription only added features
I am okay with subscriptions as long as they don't make originally free features into paid ones. As far as I can tell, they only added AI features and immediately put them behind a paywall. The core functionality of converting 3 words to coords and coords to 3 words is still there.
Great idea, killed by money
Loved the idea behind this, but after checking it out after a couple years I am heartbroken to see it was given the subscription model treatment. I can’t get my friends to even try it now because like me they refuse to use an app that doesn’t even offer a one time purchase to at the very least remove the ads. Gonna be reclaiming space on my phone now (because it’s getting deleted).
Ads are creeping in
Was a great app and I understand it needs to be funded somehow. But the ads are now starting to make easy use of the app more difficult. Would be annoying if using in an emergency you were forced to read an ad first…!

Useful in emergancy situation now too much spam
What3words have became greedy. What3words is fundmental for people to give precise locations for emergency responders. Mountain rescue, search and rescue teams, coast gusrds. Ambulance, poloce. Many in the UK ran by charities. When someone in crisis needs our help they really do not need ti be inundated with large spammy type apps. There really is better ways to monetise apps and the core search and rescue functions shkukd be left intact. Disappointing move from whst3words
Great app, can’t justify the pro price.
I absolutely adore this app. I don’t use it very often, but it’s great when I need it. I just can’t justify the Pro price at $5 a month for an app I probably only use once every week or two. If it were $0.99 or even $1.99 a month, I’d subscribe in a heartbeat, but at $50 a year, it’s just not something I use enough to justify the cost.
Uninstalled
Used to love this app, but it’s gotten greedy. The company’s lost nearly £150 million over the years with almost no revenue, so now they’re plastering the free version with ads and hiding basic features—like sending to navigation or saving locations—behind a Pro paywall. The clever idea is still there, but the desperate money grab has ruined a once-essential tool.
Went from Fave to Nay
Why must everyone put their apps behind a paywall to be anywhere adjacent to useful. In order for me to save favorites anymore, in an app I’ve used for years, I have to get a subscription to this map app… what?! It’s bad enough it shows me ads for clearly no reason if I can’t save a favorite place locally on my phone! So this app just lost all usefulness as I can use better free apps that aren’t Google or stuck behind a paywall. This seemed promising with the 3 word navigation, but seeing how no one I’ve ever worked with or met uses this app (probably because basic services like a local storage of locations is free everywhere else and no adverts crashing in for unrelated services) I guess I am over this. I need reliable apps for traveling that don’t put basic functions behind a subscription.
Helped in an Emergency
I broke down, had to call police as was unsafe, I couldn’t give directions and they couldn’t find me. I pulled up what 3 words and they were there within 3 minutes. Thankyou.

Why is this app even a thing?
Great app, unfortunate price
I have been pushing what3words for a long time. I will no longer pus people to it. I understand the need to get paid but it’s too bad the new Pro version is $60 a year. Too rich for my blood, no lower $ tier, just free. They will get $0 from me unfortunately.
They ruined this app
No more photo mode and cluttered with an ad. Such promise, flushed away.
Annoying messages
Occasionally a message pops up with gps accuracy poor. It is so annoying and useless. You have to tap on it then get out of it before getting a normal usable screen. Please remove that useless message feature. Put that message in your settings to bring up if one wants to read it.

This app is amazing. However, it does NOT play nice with voiceover. This is a huge disservice to the blind and visually impaired community.
Poor form.
Why would an app that is quite heavily promoted for people to download for safety by emergency services etc feel the need to go with a monthly subscription!

I noticed that it only mentions UK in the description and other places a lot. I think the app should be made more useable for people who live in other places ie Canada for one, USA for 2 etc etc etc…I live in Ontario, Canada & would like to see this app more geared towards being user friendly for here where I live. Just had to add a subscription model for 70 dollars a year
Why does this need to be a subscription model like every other service out there. Make it a one time purchase. After the first year its already exceeded its value in cost 🤦
Plurals are confusing
This app is a great concept, but it has a fatal flaw leading to miscommunication. For the words they’ve chosen, plurals matter, and humans (maybe particularly Americans) are bad at adding a plural ‘s’ to the end of words for no reason! So for example, the below are three different places: ///smokes.fits.leap (Australian outback) ///smoke.fits.leap (rural Illinois) ///smoke.fits.leaps (Glasgow, England) Aren’t there enough words so plurals don’t need to be used?? Could the squares maybe be 12 ft x 12 ft if you’re running out of words? I find it hard to believe there isn’t often miscommunication when speaking these words over the phone, or even just a typo when entering them online.
Spot on
An excellent app. for identifying where you live. Don’t suffer delivery company excuses that they couldn’t find your address and waste your time arranging another delivery date.
Used to be great
This used to be a great app when you could choose your navigation, but the most popular ones are now hidden behind a paywall, and Apple Maps is frequently off line in remote areas. Maybe allow a single choice for navigation, to be helpful to people
Not well explained
Just downloaded this and it seems like a good idea but how it works is not well explained. Maybe too many programmers and not enough input from common sense.
Horrible cluttered update
They've pretty much ruined this app. It's now full of clutter and little lock icons to show the features that don't work unless you pay a lot every month for them. Classic en****ification.

Terrible subscription based slop
Took away the freedom of using either google maps or Apple Maps. Greed took over and now needs subscriptions. Awful app
Great but could use widget dark mode
I love the technology and want to see it grow and develop into a universal standard. It might help if a little more attention was made to the UX. Allow dark mode for the widgets so that it can be integrated more aesthetically on the users app pages. Add features that make it more fun to play with the tech, maybe gamefy a part of it. Onwards and upwards for What3Words!
Download language does not work
Any language download will just stuck with 0 byte… well i guess im stuck with UK English for now
