terrible UI design, occasional bugs and glitchiness with the menus. Not much better than google maps.
Useless for me
I thought this would be a cool app to have for my bike riding and routes but it proved to be absolutely useless and a waste of money. Instead of weekly billing that I saw it charged me the full year and I don’t even use it. It is not a good app. I could of really spent the 55 dollars on something better:

Too complicated
Love the idea of tracking the journey with elevations and wind speeds but the pausing system and ending was difficult to navigate. A simpler approach wouid be easier
Route too long to calculate.
If you select bicycling paths as priority it can’t calculate anything much over two hundred miles. Old versions calculated I was able to calculate a route across the country.

App gut aber Routing hat noch Luft nach oben
Habe eine 7 tägige Tour durch die Toskana geplant und sind sie jetzt auch gefahren. Die Planung mit der Option Ausgeglichen ging super, die Aufteilung in Etappen ist sehr gut. Die ersten Etappen ans Meer und am Meer waren super. Nur Radwege und verkehrsarme Nebenstraßen. Als es dann aber wieder ins Landesinnere und in die Chianti Berge ging, waren die Routen kaum zu brauchen. Von Pisa aus gibt es südlich am Meer einen Pass den man hoch muss. Das ist OK. Aber als Reiseradler nimmt man dann nicht noch mal 250 HM mit, die die Rennradler bestimmt gerne fahren. Und dann in den Bergen wurden Feldwege oder Pfade vorgeschlagen, die unbefahrbar waren oder mit Steinen und mehr als 10 % Steigung, wo selbst ein E MTB Probleme hat. Schaut euch mal das Touting in allen Optionen vom Campingplatz Voltera zum Campingplatz Siena im Vergleich zu Komoot an. Das sind zig km mehr über sehr viel Gravel. Das war nichts für uns als Reiseradler mit Zelt. Vielleicht fügt ihr eine Kategorie Reiseradler ein, die Gravel gerne in Teilen in der Ebene hat, der nicht jeden möglichen HM mitnimmt und einen auch durch die Stadtcentren führt, die man sich gerne ansieht. Wenn ich durch Pisa fahre, will ich auch den schiefen Turm sehen und nicht schnellstmöglich durch die Stadt. Das wäre Klasse! So ist sie für uns definitiv noch nicht optimal. Wenn ihr noch Input braucht, gerne melden!
Poor functionality (in USA)
I keep giving Bikemap chances because I have “lifetime premium” and I assume updates will eventually fix the issues, but presently, STILL years in, the functionality of the app leaves A LOT to be desired. It’s just bad at its job. I see the other reviews so it must be okay for something somewhere, but in USA (Massachusetts) the routing is useless and insane 100 percent of the time.
Cant find any support
Im trying to find support for this app but website has no contact at all. I cannot connect it to the health app and need support. Or a new app i guess. Bummer. Also wish it recoded DAILY cuz i always forget to hit record before my bike ride and only after realize it and have no idea how many miles i rode. Would be great if it just recorded daily and then erased it within 24 hrs cuz id def save it right after the ride.

My app is a continuous loop back to a request to confirm my email address which I have tried to do multiple times with no success.
Love the app but is not as intuitive as I would like
The app is great and it’s awesome being dedicated to bicyclists, but navigating it isn’t particularly intuitive. When I turn my friends onto it, I usually have to tell them the caveats.
No navigation on Apple Watch
Although this app looks slick and powerful as far as the iPhone app goes, it’s completely useless to me. I don’t ride with a phone mount, most of the time I don’t even have my phone at all I go out with my Apple Watch Ultra. I can already track rides with the built in workout app, so I got this on the promise of planning/discovering routes and using navigation on my watch. It does not do navigation on the watch, at all. Other workout apps have navigation on the watch, even if it’s simplified, so it’s not a hardware limitation. If you want to use this with your phone it seems great, but if you are looking at this for your Apple Watch, don’t bother.

Problem is, the opening page is a demand for a subscription - you can’t even look at the app without agreeing to it.
Impressive planning tool
The more I use this, the more I'm impressed with it. I have an electric trike and the ability for this app to plan road routes that avoid high-traffic roads is amazing. The fact that when you select that you are using an e-bike, it considers hills less of an obstacle and gives you quieter routes is really great. Also, the optional map view layers are great for enhancing visibility on your phone in sunlight. Most other maps don't provide as much contrast and readability. Well done. I'm a convinced subscriber.
Said I had account I never did
Couldn’t even log in. Every email put said I already had an account but never once sent me an email for password reset. Waste of time
Great app
While it does occasionally give strange routing, the issues are die to OSM and not this app. If the information were perfect, I’m confident this app would be too. Overall, it’s a great experience and if you bike a lot on unfamiliar routes, it’s worth the investment.
Bad
After i used this app for a year i’m deleting it. It doesn’t work offline properly, many times i had to use google to come bk home. Yet they want money for everything. Voice guide is terrible too.
Premium subscription inaccessible after getting new phone
Paid for premium then got a new phone and now even when I sign in I’m not in premium. If I try to go to manage subscription it still shows that I’m signed up until 2027 but in the app premium features are blocked. I tried everything that usually works on other apps like delete and reinstall, still nothing. Edit: After a lot of running around that shouldn’t have been necessary I was able to recover my account on my own without having received a response from the dev. Upgrading to 3 stars because the app is nice, just pray you never need support.

Great Routing, Missing Functionality
The app creates great cycling routes, there are a few issues though. 1. Turn-by-turn navigation does not announce when you have music on. I have looked at all of my settings to see if this is an issue on my end. 2. There is currently no navigation available for the Apple Watch.
Can’t even enter my home address correctly.
I’ve tried following the suggested prompt from my phone and also entering the address manually. The app then offers me two choices, my correct address and an incorrect one. I click on the correct one and it enters the incorrect one. So I can’t enter the correct billing address. It also likes to start routes from the incorrect address. Not exactly confidence inspiring for a mapping app!
Misdirection
I was on a 5 mile straight run and the instructions kept telling me to go on side streets WHY ?
Very good
I have not been using this AP very long but so far I am impressed. It finds the best way by bike depending on settings. You can use just bike paths or a balance of bike paths and roads. It’s has taken me to a dead end a couple of times but that happens with all GPS APs so you need to use some common sense as well as the AP. Sometimes it diverts you off a main road and then puts you right back on the main road for a few feet which is a bit silly but then use some common sense look at the map and go the best way. Overall I am very happy with this AP and it’s better than Google maps for cycling.
Disappointed
Three trips out and prior to each trip I am logged in to app. Get out ready to ride and the app wants to verify Premium Status. Ok, so go ahead. I paid $50 for the app. Nope! Tells me there is an error and to try again. I have emailed support, deleted app, and tried again. Also tried on line and my subscription is not recognized. Cancelled any further transactions as I have not been able to use it.

Can't test without buying
1. User can't test basic functionality without a subscription. If you set a route, app pops up with two options for tracking the route, both locked features. No amount of swiping or clicking lets you keep the route without subscribing. 2. Now my app watch is stuck on "Ride was too short to save". Clicking ok does nothing. Deleting.
Free version isn't much
Seems like a nice app but I was disappointed to learn that navigation is only available with premium

Mediocre
I am confused. I don’t understand how it got such a good rating! First, I found the interface confusing. Had to quit several times to get back to the home window to try to figure out how to navigate back to other areas. Then while at home, I downloaded some nearby routes try on my bike. I went out and found out that they were not downloaded. Additionally, at home before the ride, I indicated several favorites. Then when I went out, I could not find my favorites area. Finally, when I rode down to the beginning of the route and tried to navigate, the app could not receive my route. I thought it was GPS I was on top of a hill, which should’ve gotten excellent reception. I was able to see a blue dot indicating my location on a map, and could use it to negotiate the route. Otherwise, the program was pretty useless. I’m sorry I wasted my money.
Fantastic start, needs to show maps on the Watch
This app has great potential but is lacking a few features to justify the pro subscription. > Leverage the full potential of the Apple Watch, especially the Ultra, by allowing us to save our itenary on a map that shows on the watch. Many apps like Workoutdoors allow great navigation from the watch, and I want to be able to quickly view where I am without taking my phone out while on the bike. > Failing that, it would be great as paying option to be able to export to .gpx to use on another mapping app. Having said that, it's great to see developers offer cyclists some very promising apps!

Do not use this app. Just use All Trails or google maps. Also, even if you pay the premium you still get ads. This is a very bad app that you will regret buying. It is literally a GPS. If you have google maps, you basically have bike maps.

Not great
Tried it out specifically for the Euro 06 route in Hungary and let us to a well established ferry crossing the Danube, but that the locals say the ferry was canceled long ago. The alternative route forced us to ride miles and miles on a heavily trafficked main route. Seems line a big “miss” for an app that proposes to provide cyclists with maps.
Potential, but left wanting
This app is probably better in areas where many users participate or in countries where bike infrastructure isn’t just occasional car lane gutters.
Awesome Ride!
I was alerted that my subscription was about to renew, but I had some doubts about renewing. I was unsure about continuing with the subscription as I had experienced some confused routes and directions in the past. The map planning seemed off. But something has changed! I had been off the road for a good number of months until my bike was finally fixed last week. Not sure if it was the recent update but I used Bikemap last Friday and the route it planned for me for a 4+ hour round trip was awesome. It was a huge improvement. I enjoyed the route it chose for me so much I’m renewing my subscription, it’s worth it just for that experience alone!
Wish I could get my money back and this is a free trial period!
App took me to a gravel path on my road bike then onto a busy road with absolutely no shoulder and construction work at the end wherein I had to self navigate to quieter side roads. The BIKE APP IS FOR SAFE BIKING- road or not. Almost got crushed by trucks on double yellows single lane roads. Nightmare.

L’application est excellente mais répète trop longtemps si on ne suis pas exactement le chemin programmé. J’aimerais utiliser la version payante mais je la trouve trop dispendieuses.
Poor User Routes
Tried this on a cycling trip to Mallorca - user routes are full of trash routes some of which are literally just ferry crossings. Also just shambolic routes that lead you up dirt tracks when it says it’s a road bike route. Basically the original user getting lost and leaving that error in their published route. App doesn’t give you proper alerts when you make a wrong turn, annoying if you don’t have a bike mount. Doesn’t show max gradient - literally would have needed a ski lift to cross one mountain! Ended up using Apple Maps to get me home. Could have got me in a lot of trouble as was running out of sunlight. Feels like abandonware.
Bikemap with iPhone
The app is brilliant for finding safe routes on the bike - even ones that most local folks don’t know. The drawback is - that the audio instructions do not come through the headphones so you have to keep stopping to look at the phone every few minutes. Really wish they would sort that - would make it soooooo much better:

Will not allow me past the introductory questions because the “next” button is below/outside my screen and you cannot scroll down to use it. Not optimized for this iPhone, I guess.

GPS is off
I used to love this app. It is very convenient to save trails, to plan and to record. Bur last few rides my Maps are not well recorded for the distance. I guess it is GPS problem. It calculated 121 km for the 22 km bike ride. I’ve had few problems like this.
It lead me to a dead end
I had high hopes for this app, I live in Cornwall, UK. The first time I used this app it started off well… but then it lead me down a dangerously waterlogged path up to a dead end. It’s a good idea but too many problems at this time
