Fantastic Photographic Community!
If you care about photography Glass is an incredible place to share your photos. It’s ad and algorithm free. Just photos displayed beautifully and supportive, positive dialog with other photographers. No “look at me and how great my life is” posts/reels/etc.
Disappointed
I found both the Ipad and web versions clunky and hard to navigate. Some features just don’t work (eg on web version when editing a photo and trying to add it to a series or a new series, cannot scroll down to ‘create new’). Why so many reviewers have given it five stars I cannot image.
One critique
I’m learning and enjoying so much from others’ photo perspectives. And I do really appreciate that Glass is not intended as a mass storage space as it refines the choices of what is posted. I just wonder though if others too would like it if it was possible to upload even just two photos at a time without having to make it a series .. rather than the current limit of one.
Decent but overpriced
The layout and image quality are great. The editors curate images to highlight from their merry clique of tech bros. The community, once vibrant, has the watered-down buzz of Denny’s coffee.
SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED
This could be a great app and a great way to meet other photographers and see their work, but it appears that you need a subscription to even be able to upload photos :/ While some may be willing to pay, it becomes unusable for those who are beginners and want to start in the community.
Outstanding!
Three months on Flickr had me searching for something better, and I found that here in Glass. It’s designed to be intentional, with great photo sharing and community. None of the social media rat race. I personally value quality over quantity and found that with Glass. I’m happy to pay to be in a better “neighborhood”. I’m just finishing up my 7-day free trial and happy to say that I received some tips emails during that time, asked some questions to which Stefan quickly replied and received a reminder that my trial was about to expire in case I wanted to cancel before getting charged. That’s a class act and I’m staying. Thanks!
The point?
First the interface is over-sized and clunky. Also I’m not sure what they’re trying to do here. They don’t allow galleries or publishers in there. They charge people just to log in and view posts. Who am I showing my content to? Other photographers?
Healthy on-line photo site
Sick of smart alecks making snide comments? Glass is a friendly foto sharing community. All decent humans welcome.
I wanted to believe the hype
I think an ad-free photography community experience is worth paying for but Glass doesn’t really stack up. Incredibly slow development team, still missing a lot of basic features but happy to take your premium subscription money and drag things out over years at this point.
GIANT paywall
Honestly, the app itself is beautiful. I love the concept, I love that everyone is sharing photos they believe is worthy to share. But the only problem I really have is the app is genuinely just a huge paywall. You can’t comment on other peoples photos unless you PAY for it. $40? For what? I’m willing to just deal with it because I actually like some of the photos. I also thought the app was to share photos freely? Why is everything under a membership? I can’t upload photos and I can’t comment. I can hardly do anything unless I fork out $40. Please reconsider what and what not we have to pay for.

dont even bother
HUGE paywall. you cant even upload or comment without a membership. you’re better off downloading another app like Foto if you wanna share photos and comment for free. you’re even better off printing your pictures and stapling them to a telephone pole. corporate greed has ruined art.
Useful; needs a UI tweak
The Glass app is helpful to look at images, but needs Forward and Back arrows to scroll through a series collection, without having to go back from an individual image to the series page.
Slow and lazy customer service
App is cool but customer service is slow and lazy with my refund after I cancelled my subscription and it still came out of my bank account.
Two tier memberships
The concept of Glass, its ethos and overall approach are fantastic. The app itself, and web equivalent, is silky smooth. I thought I’d found my photographic home but alas. In addition to the standard membership we now have, at £99 per year, a patron tier. This automatically creates a two tier membership and something I’m not prepared to tolerate.
Amazing app, worth the price
Can’t explain how perfect an app this is for posting photos and exploring photography. The design, the community of photographers, and stunning quality. Feels like a small company passion project in the best way. Hope it keeps growing and improving!
Dowloader beware. Not as advertised
Based on the “share photos and discover” description, I thought that this would be what instagram used to be, where cool photography was shared. Instead it is a subscription photo catalog.
Cool
Cool but I would love to c a purchase option for liked ones where proceeds go to both artist with 20% to app dev. And being in the free app section just being able to view and not comment takes away the learning exp for me which is the reason I was using it and since no contents as in questions can b asked it doesn’t do anything for me especially without the opt to buy some as well. It’s good if u pay which makes sense so it should b under the paid apps section tbh not free cuz it’s just a read only app which isn’t useful maybe as a webpage would be appripprua
Not sure why
If you’re a professional photographer who wants a bit of extra coverage? Maybe. Or an amateur who wants a bit of heartwarming praise like the old Flickr days? Otherwise I can’t see the point of paying to post your photos online. At least apps like VSCO offer image editing as well as a social platform for your money. The app itself is ok. There’s not really much to it. And I completely understand why it’s important to have something other than the living nightmare that is Instagram. I just don’t see why I would want to pay money for just sharing a photo.
Great idea in theory but still bugs to fix
I created an account. Then it booted me out and wouldn’t let me sign in. I received an email prompt to reset my password, which I did. App still won’t let me sign in. Tried signing in on my PC, that didn’t work either. Feeling uneasy that I have a profile sitting there that I am unable to access. Please help!
A true photography community
I love many things about Glass: it’s thoughtful and elegant design, the way it pushes back against mindless tapping and scrolling, and the ways it fosters authentic sharing and community. In 2026, it’s a blessing to be able to share an image from any platform and get out of the mobile editing/cropping workflow. I also love the way it pulls in image metadata, and the concept of series.

Makes you sign in and give all this info and then times out when you try to go forward. Garbage! Delete my info!
More than an Instagram alternative
I make a point of experimenting with pretty much all photography platforms, but Glass has emerged as my favorite over time. Not only is it a beautiful mobile interface, but the desktop UX is fantastic too. More importantly, the community is conversational and supportive. Glass is not just an IG alternative, but a vibrant example of just how good a distraction-free photo community can be.
Needs a lot of work yet before I pay
Nice interface but the inability to like or search really inhibits the user experience. I think this has been released too early and until it develops a lot more I won’t be paying
Unfortunately currently suffering from the most basic usability problem…
So, I love the app and WAS having a good time using it, but then, expecting the app to either sign me in automatically OR prompting me to enter my account data (username and password), but NO, repeatedly on all three of my devices I was prompted to set up a new account. And even though I have a running subscription, I have now been allowed to set up a NEW account on the same email address and am now no longer able to access my account from any device, though I DO keep getting notifications on people following my account or liking my pictures… this seems to me THE most basic requirement for any app but especially one with a subscription model. To everybody interested, great app, but you may end up “overwriting” your own account, so be careful??
There is Good in the universe!
No ads. No algorithms. No spam. No memes. No influencers. No reviews. No marketing. No data mining. No noise. No clutter. No distractions. No ‘like’ FOMO. And thankfully, not “free”. I greatly prefer paying real money for the privilege and experience that the internet promised before big tech and advertisers ruined it. To the devs, I rate you 100/10. Thank you for making this for people that care about photography.

The Photographer’s Meow
Thank you glass, for pulling this community together, for some good old fashioned “photo club” fused so smartly into what the Internet offers. I’m hooked on this app, and spending less time reading the news, and more time “enjoying life”. 🤙🏻
Launched too soon
I really wanted to like this app, but having used my free trial when it’s clearly still being developed (notably discovery, a key feature) and now having no access at all to even see how it’s progressing is a huge disappointment. I won’t be buying a subscription because there’s now no way to try it. I’m sure it will eventually be a great option.
Nice face shame about the…
Looks the part but it soon becomes obvious that a lot of work is required to make it the IG alternative we all so desperately want. The inability to search for users, locations, camera info etc etc is really frustrating. I gave it a good go but gave up after a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed the developers look at all the feedback.
Simple, beautiful, and featured
In a world with infinite ways to take and share photos, there’s only two perfect ways - by printing and by Glass. I learn something every time I open the app. In addition to this, a real community exists here. I’m glad to pay the small fee for what I get from it. This isn’t Instagram.
Pay to Post
When creating an account, it says we need to sign up for a free trial or else we fan only view (no posting) photos. No, thank you. I thought this would be a good Instagram alternative. Alas.. it's a pay-to-use photo gallery.
Fantastic but it needs an Apple TV app.

A lot of potential but needs work
I read about this app on TechCrunch and was very excited to jump in. The idea is spot on the company has the funding to build something to validate the product and there is a community of photographers out there to be captured by this USP. Where this falls down is a lack of functionality to discover people you actually want to follow. They will need some sort of search by interest or type of camera capturing the image etc. as the initial experience is disappointing recommending what seems like random profiles that have lacklustre content. Hopefully this functionality can be improved from what seems like an MVP at this stage though I fear if they don’t move quickly enough they may not hit the customer retention they need to make this the go to place for photographers.

Simply no better app and community for photographers
Glass is truly unique and best as a photographer’s community. By excluding “feed algorithms” and videos, promoting metadata (I can see the lens, the camera, the f-stop, more), and paying attention to what photographers need, Glass is doing what over-commercialized “users are the product” sites simply won’t.
Deceptive trial
went to try the free trial, assumed the charge wouldn’t go through if i canceled the trial before the seven days were up. i was charged immediately anyway. extremely deceiving. i dont even want to use the app anymore
Categories missing, otherwise nice, clean app
Can you please add an INTERIORS category (ie. for homes, buildings, cabins, restaurants, shops, etc) This is a hugely popular genre that appears to have been overlooked. The Architecture category is a little too general to cover all of this... :-)
Nothing really to see
Maybe over time, but with no free level of subscription after the first two weeks I can’t see how it will grow. I’m out.
Too bad I can’t create an account
I like the concept, yearly price would be ok if it lives up to expectations. However, I’m glad that there is a 14 days trial because the app just crashes when I click on create account. I tried to restart the phone, delete and reload the app… nothing helps. Maybe Glass staff has some ideas and could help me here. My specs are iOS 15.1 on Iphone 7, still have 2 Go of available space on my phone.
Excellent community
Such a good place to post, review and get feedback from other photographers. Really pleasure, and truly built for photographers rather than scrolling addicts ;)

Great but buggy. It’s early days but questionable whether it should have shipped in this state. Consider it an investment for the future and hope that the team delivers on the promise.
Glass App
Glass is a wonderful and supportive photography social media group. And the app is intuitive and really allows the photography to shine and human connections to be made.
Paying to post photos?!
It seemed exciting but 40$ a year to post photos on an app?! That’s not really user friendly seeing any other social media is FREE
Needs some polish and users
Photos-only feed without comments, likes, ads or stories feels like a breath of fresh air. Though hiding the person that posted a photo behind a swipe gesture feels maybe a bit _too_ minimalistic to me. Whatever the app is doing with text fields is weird and needs to be fixed. I use the native keyboard with swiping and half the time the words aren’t entered, feels really buggy. I also wish the app supported landscape, at least when viewing a single photo. Zooming in portrait on a landscape photo doesn’t feel great. Other than that, I just hope the app grows and has more photographers to follow. Without algorithms or quantifiable metrics such as likes, discovering people seems tricky. But I hope the app develops its own little community vibe.
