7/10 times I open the app it is frozen and I have to close it out and try again and again. Possibly they will get this fixed. But I love the competition aspect and seeing everyone’s work. I especially like the duels. That’s unique! But pls fix this bug:(
Guru shots
I don’t know it just seems like another way of blowing your hard earned money on something to just post pictures of and that’s it. I read a lot of reviews when I gather information and reviews on this app of people downloading pictures off the Internet and claiming their originals and then other people saying that if you want to play, you got to pay and why would I want to pay for an app with people on their basically cheating yeah no thank you
Would love it more
I love the app, I love the voting system, and I love most things about this game. However, I can rarely open it. Every single time I open it, it will freeze. I close out the app 6-7-8 times before it will open and I just get frustrated and I’m not interacting with the app at all.

Love this app been on here for a few years where you can share photos with other people around the world and this is just for photographers only not like the other apps where you just see random feeds and plus you got a choice to enter competitions if you want too thank you for this app
Buggy
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I still have the same issue of when I open the app, the screen is a bit darker and completely unresponsive. I hand to close and open a few times for this to work correctly but once I close the app and come back to it the problem happens again
Good but
As a beginner photographer is nice to see how my photos rank but does it or should it really cost coins to enter ? This can really inspire avid photographers I just don’t feel there is a need to have coins to enter.
They want you to spend your money.
I was playing this new game for a few years , and then noticed that even the best photos don’t even win a #1 spot for advance ment. Also some of those Gurus III and above use their same old 277 all star rated photo with 58 guru picks in every game.Through research discovered that the photos that have a better chance of winning buy all the coins to gain boosts, swaps, and fills and then also have a bunch of guru friends that make sure to vote on the photo. Beware you get penalized if let your exposure run out or if you vote on consecutive photos to fill your exposure to the max. If you like consecutive photos you get a warning, why can’t that be done? Just what if every photo consecutively is great? Those turbos some kind of joke…in many cases a very horrible photo has more votes than a great photo IMO. It’s surprising how flower photos and regular old beat up winding street to no ware photos wins the duels. Some photos have a bunch of likes but also at the same time not even an all star rating. So many AI photos. An AFK feature would be great for players that sleep.I’ve deleted mine.
Beautiful pictures
I love this app. It has little competitions over themed content pictures. My biggest issue is that the app continuously freezes when I open it. I have to close the app and reopen several times before it actually works properly. Once it starts working there isn’t a problem, however opening and closing an app several times before it works gets old. I usually just move on to another app.
Great app, questionable community
Love the app, and the competition! I wish something could be done about whoever is reporting everything under the sun as “adult content”. Someone genuinely flagged a photo of a hotdog on a plate next to a bottle of root beer. Please give us the option to report inappropriately flagged content and perhaps suspend or ban repeat offenders.
Was great… now a Scam!
This app used to be fun and was part of my daily activity until then he started using the coin scam and turbos. The turbos are rigged to produce income for pay to play and the rules are bogus! Same photos up against each other 2 times with different results each time. It is not about quality of photos anymore but a way to gain profit! Total scam now wrapped in a photo game!
I see the app is getting better
I like this app and I think it has a lot more potential so I’m sticking with it in hopes that it does better. It definitely is not what it was first marketed to be when it first came out
Bots bots bots
Maybe there was a time when this app was about skill and community. At this time, terrible photos make their way up the ranks because of the gamified microtransactions of the app. It’s pay to win, essentially and duels are infested by bots.
Bit of a grind
I’m late to the party and only recently started using Gurushots. I like the concept behind it and I enjoy posting photos into the various competitions, but the mechanism of voting on others people’s photo to keep your exposure meter full, very quickly becomes a chore rather than an enjoyable process. The amount of photos you need to vote on is excessive. And rather than vote on genuine good photography it often feels like you are left with no option but to upvote some pretty mediocre shots. Which makes the whole thing feel like you are being pushed towards buying fills/boosts etc which I definitely will not be doing.

This was once an excellent app, and a great supportive community. Now it’s a micro transaction, ai slop, marketplace.

It’s kinda glitchy and make sure you allow access to all photos, but this is a cool place to upload photography photos
Somewhat of a joke
It’s impossible to get to guru without spending money. The turbos are a joke as most of the time the photos that are more popular or out of focus very poor quality photos that look like they were taken by a child. Could be a fun app, but instead, it’s just another money grab.
Fun but rigged
While it’s a fun app and I’ll continue to play, I’m pretty positive this is rigged. Everyone’s style is different, but for out of focus, grainy shots to consistently beat photos that are crisp and professionally taken is wild. Never the less, it’s a great chance to see the world through someone else’s eye and find inspiration in their styles

Endless prompts to pay
They recently updated the app to prompt users to pay for items every time they open the app. Even when I close out of the popup, it still tries to open my Apple Pay to force a payment. Really sus. Like anyone would pay $5 for one key to unlock a Boost for when challenge so you can earn 30 coins. I like the photo sharing aspect but terrible app experience.
Get rid of Turbo
It’s subjective and based on voters who are voting with intention to up their own exposure. Really broken concept.
Good idea; terrible execution
The idea of the app is great: a place where photographers can share and compete with their photographs. The execution of the app is horrendous: it is the largest pay to play platform I have seen. Great photography hidden behind brick Nokia cell phone quality photos because they paid to boost their photo. The ranking system is inconsistent and lacks proper safeguards from individuals blindly voting for their photo to get a boost. I’d suggest a swiping like voting system. Left for no vote, right for vote, and uses get points for swiping either way. Swiped too many in one direction? Provide an captcha type test to prevent abuse of the system. This way all photos are being seen, and a proper voting system is instilled. Will it work? Who knows but it’s better than what is going on currently.
Slight scam
I got to champion league after a year. It is good for seeing other people’s photos and seeing others’ perspectives. But the “winning money” and ranking system is a scam. It’s always the adult photos that get the gurus pick and the professionals who get the gurus pick. You spend more coins than you get rewarded. Also the duals matchmaker system is absolutely garbage. I got paired with a guru 4 once. Then I got paired with a newbie. Dont fall for the scam. This app needs work

The quality of photography on this site is incredible, not only do I enjoy taking part but I’ve learned so much about the art. People are friendly and helpful. I never get tired of this experience.
Cheating on Coins
WOW They are cheating on coins. I have screenshots to show it. I had a 3 W streak with 450 coins, I won one more duel, 4 W streak with 390 coins. When coins are sold and they remove coins, what are they doing?

Cannot upload to half of the challenges or battles it gets to 1/4 uploads or 0/1 if i only do one photo at a time i have a 15promaxx why is this happening!?? Fix needed asap
just full of bots
im pretty sure it’s all just bots because no way my photos are winning EVERY TIME. plus everyone’s pfp is the same shot of their head, everyone has a simple “paul” “mark” “simon” username. it just feels so weird.
You don’t get paid, false advertising
A nice app and can be addictive on getting your votes for a photo, however I believe it’s slightly rigged as I have seen different people using the same photo from a previous game. Each game you play costs coins. If you don’t keep winning you will have to pay for additional coins. I thought the user was paid to upload photos, I don’t like the way that it’s falsely advertised that you get paid for photos. You pay the app to get more coins etc… to keep playing. If I am uploading good photos why should I pay. They should be paying me. I am unsure of the app creator’s motive. Perhaps it’s just to steal your data

Can not sign in
Most of the time I use my laptop , but being out and still on challenges I wanted to be able to use my phone . Somehow I can not sign in on my iPhone , the only option is signing up as the new account…
Branding and quality challenges
Start a new team league season. Boring to always see the same on top. Try something like European football leagues. Promote winning teams and level down for loosing teams. Determined season like 6 months or so. Turbo most popular photo is awful, some of the photos we can’t see and honestly many i would not vote for. Recognize team team leaders with some type of recognition. Make prices and achievements worth while GS accessories and gifts, tshirts, etc . Increase the visibility of the brand name. Turn GS into a top of the line brand and recognized world wide. Promote GS and the photographs. Hope i helped. Thank you
Very Disappointing!!
This “game” isn’t intended for photographers who actually want a genuine ranking app for sharing and competing with other photographers. It is completely filled with people who don’t use the app properly and just use it as another social media platform. It has become a money grab app. It would be cool if there was an app almost just like this with a better judging system and only allowed photographers rookies or gurus, and a disciplinary system for people who aren’t actually going along with what the app or specific challenges were for. It’s pretty addicting but I am sick of people beating me with “off topic” photos and if I’m being honest, horribly shot and edited photos.

You need to buy coins to join challenges. I don’t understand the concept other than paying the owner of the app to share your photos for a chance to win double coins of the entrance fee.

I love the concept of this app, but in order to enter a competition you have to use coins. You’re only given 50 or 100 coins to start. Each competition is 50 coins. If you don’t win the competition, you don’t win anymore coins. If you don’t win, you have to buy them. I wish you could earn coins in some other way. I’d be on the app all the time if I could.
Instagram for… pros?
It’s a good app, and can get addicting but sometimes frustrating when you enter the comps. You’ll lose to photos that legitimately don’t even fit the prompt (when dueling or flash challenges), or in some cases for me at least, an amateur looking photo that is often grainy, poorly edited, out of focus etc. Not sure how the ‘voting’ process works but it doesn’t make a lot of sense and kind of defeats the point against genuine photography. These issues take the fun out of the competing aspect of the app, which then just makes it another instagram with less photos of people’s dinner and even less selfies with duck faces.

I downloaded this about 2 days ago and have not left it alone since! I found all my old photos and collected my favourite ones and posted them here and I’m really loving it so far and can’t seem to put it down
No selfies
For art sake, people, stop putting selfies on here. This is supposed to be about art, and not your self centered nonsense that belongs on Instagram. Stop bringing your ego into art. At least, if you’re going to do a selfie on an art site, make sure it tells a story and don’t just turn your camera on yourself and say look at me. and More, a person should not be allowed to keep their rank as a guru forever. Earning it one time means you never get someone else a chance to win. It’s ridiculous. A person who has one a guru challenge should then be reverted back to the beginning after like maybe a week or a month. Letting people stay at the guru level is not fair to everyone else who deserves an equal chance to win. It’s like going to a martial arts tournament except somebody who has one first place in a year before, is allowed to keep winning first places without earning it. photography is like the martial arts. You’ll have to keep earning your place in the tournament. This app is more than just ridiculous. It’s a scam. It’s why I left and I will never come back. Because I noticed that, everyone that has gotten a guru title gets to keep that title till the end of time. While the rest of us struggle even to get to second or third place from the starting point. It’s not fun when you do it like that. It’s like someone becomes Jesus and gets to keep that title forever. That’s not a contest.
Great Fun
Just started using this app. and have quite enjoyed it so far! Literally have so many photos that I take and have taken but sometimes end up doing nothing with them. This app. Provides you with a platform that allows you to enter them into some sort of competition for free, sometimes to win in app. purchases or sometimes to win magazine exposure. Obviously the really great photos win, people that have really developed their skills and profile, but that what’s also great about using this app. The exposure you get to other photographers, all at different levels, is very useful for self critique and development. For me this app. actually reminds me of Instagram when it first started before it lost itself. A place where people for an enthusiasm for photography can exhibit their work and appreciate others work. Great fun!
Too expensive
Used to love GuruShots but now it wants you to pay coins which often times cost money to play challenges. You used to be able to join as many challenges as you wanted no coins or money needed.
Awesome concept with lots of adult content
Let me preface this whole thing and say, I really like this app. It’s so much fun, especially for an avid photographer like myself. The thing I was completely not expected to find was adult sexual content. When you stumble across it, it is covered with a warning stating “Adult Content.” With a box you can click to show it. That’s all fine and good I suppose. The problem lies in the regulation of it. As I kept voting, I saw many full nudity photos. I don’t just mean full frontal, I mean EVERYTHING. And the profiles of the artists looked like a p*rn magazine. It was astounding how much genuine p*rnography could be allowed on such a harmless app. I say all of this as an adult male concerned for the future generation. I don’t believe exposure to that kind of thing is healthy for young minds. And if there are any young photographers out there looking to expose themselves to great photography and feedback on their own, they could very easily stumble onto adult sexual content because of this app. I understand a lot of people view it as art but I believe, at the very least, the rating of this app should be changed to 17+. Or, in a better scenario, create a different app that’s designed only for that, so that people that want to see beautiful pictures of mountains, don’t have to stumble upon a picture of twin peaks and roast beef. Pay to win, not for amateurs
This is not a game as advertised, you put your photos up against “gurus” and there are challenges and duels to play, but you better be a pro if you want to win because it’s always a high level guru that somehow wins everything with over processed, mid photos. Let down of an app. There’s 3 tools to boost your photo exposure but you have to pay for them or beat a guru. There should be a section of guru vs guru and another for lower tiers. My photos are acclaimed by the big camera companies and still don’t win? lol okay
