Best app for saving recipes!
I have tried several apps for managing my recipes and this is by far the best. I have a combinations my personal recipes that I have entered along with recipes found online. It is easy to import recipes I have found online. And once recipes are in RecipeBox it’s easy to categorize and search. It’s also easy to send recipes to friend via text when they ask for it. I really hope more people use this app and it stays around forever!
Another one bites the dust
Another one great app falls to “innovation” and greed. Just look at the other reviews. Like everyone else I’ve loved this app for years cause it was easy to use. It was free and it was a place I could put all of the recipes that I found online and I had from my family. Why do all the app companies think that we want an AI built into their app?
Love this app for what it can do (bug fix needed)
I love this app for what it can do with linked recipes! It pulls the info and lists it in an organized manner do you don’t have to look up the webpages and get buried in ads! I use the app on iOS, and there is unfortunately a bug right now where I am unable to manually add a personal recipe… the only bypass is by going to the actual recipebox website, manually typing in my personal recipe— and then going back into the app to add my food photo. If this feature worked in the app it would be perfect.
Erased all recipes
Recent upgrade to app June/July 2026 erased all recipes. Now asking to reregister and pay a chunk of $$. Not at all happy. Do not trust this app. Prior to this, it was awesome.
Disappointed with updates
I have always relied on this app to keep my recipes safe and handy. I opened it yesterday to find a recipe I liked and I couldn’t get in. Today I opened it and found out MY RECIPES are no longer there. I’m very upset about this. I don’t have them anywhere else and will either have to look for them elsewhere or tell my husband that we can no longer have some of our favorite dishes. Thanks loads. I’m in my eighties and my memory isn’t all that great. Now I have to find a new app that won’t remove my recipes. I am not paying for this. It’s always been free and didn’t lose my recipes. Forget about getting any money from me. HLC

Dishonest Developer
The app appears free, but after adding a limited number of recipes it blocks further use behind a trial. This limitation wasn’t clear to me before downloading.
Nearly brilliant
5 stars plus loads more with recommendations if you include calories and portion size on nutritional info. Only a little thing but it’s annoying to have to keep checking the original recipe. Only a plus note, I’ve found my love of cooking again, I love the shopping list and the 2m plus recipes.
Why do I need a login?
Been using this apps for over 5 years. The recent update required me to establish a username for the first time. This erased alls my saved recipes. It was a great app, but I'll stop using it before the dump my data again or institute a paywall.
Not great / Ads
The app is convenient. I’ll admit but I paid for a subscription just to get an ad for Walmart every single time I opened the app. I don’t understand that…. ?? I understand if I wasn’t paying for it, but since I am, I don’t want any ads at all. It’s annoying.
No more lost recipes!
Saving recipes used to be CHAOS 😅 now I just share them to RecipeBox and they’re all in one place.
Monetization ruined this app
This used to be one of my favorite apps. I really just used the URL import feature to keep track of some of my favorite recipes versus bookmarking them in Safari. Recently the developers introduced an update to make you pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee to use it. I would have paid $20 one time to keep my recipes organized in this app, but $60/year is insane. Bye!

Duplicates, triplets, and more
When I first downloaded this app, I loved how I could save recipes with a click. Now, it’s very annoying to see the exact same recipe over and over again along with the identical picture. I realize the submissions may be from different contributors, but why publish the same recipe into infinity? I am considering deleting this app because of the precious space it uses.
Walmart spam
I really like the app, but the new relentless Walmart shopping spam is over the top and I’ll be looking for an alternative.

i love this app. only one on the market that does everything you’ll need. saves recipes from every app or website, auto creates an ingredient list and even has an option you can add those ingredients to a separate grocery list. wouldn’t survive meal prep days without this!!
All my recipes have been deleted!
Suddenly I don’t have access to recipes I’ve been making for years! Everything I’ve ever saved to my account has disappeared. Oddly enough, this seems to have happened at the same exact time that the app tried to force me to purchase the paid version. I will not be extorted, so I guess I’ll just never be making any of the recipes I saved in this app again. Going to look into legal opinions, though, because years of my data should not have been deleted without my consent. The people who run this app are pure scum and will get what’s coming to them if my recipes are not restored immediately!
Great app but small print
I love the ease and convenience of this app. The only thing I would like is to be able to adjust the size of the font. I find it a bit too small.
Tired of Walmart Ad
Why show the Walmart ad just about every time I try to go to another screen. I get it already, Walmart delivers stuff. Do you have to show this to me ALL THE TIME??? It’s driving me nuts.

Paywalled my recipes without warning.
Do not use this app. It was free for years and suddenly paywalled itself. All of my recipes that I have entered, created, etc. are now gone. I am livid.
Broken verification and no help - EDIT: Resolved!
EDIT: Someone reached out a day or two after this story and manually verified the account. Working wonderfully now. :) I downloaded the app 10 days ago and was thrilled to find and start using it. Immediately after downloading I went to verify my email (otherwise you can’t use the app, understandably). The link was broken and said “whoops, something went wrong and we couldn’t verify your email.” There isn’t a help/support function so I sent an email to the feedback email and explained the problem, asking for a new link to verify. Someone did respond within the day and asked me to try the link again. I did and same error message, so I responded back with a screenshot saying it didn’t work. I heard nothing so I waited and on the 5th day I followed up, asking for a new link. Another 5 days have passed and I’ve heard nothing from the team. Very disappointed, was so happy to find the app and excited to start using it but the lack of support for seemingly a simple problem leaves me disenchanted.
Wtf
Too many of the same recipes when typing in a certain item. Why do we have to pay now? The original app is much better than all these updates and before ads would get in the way. This is going down hill as others apps do when the product “ourselves” get roped in to far. May have to get rid of this app as I did the others.. 🤦🏻♀️
Considering Switching
I used to really love this app. However, over the past several months, I can’t open it up without clicking through several screens trying to get me to upgrade to the paid version. It is incredibly annoying. If they want to put an ad at the bottom, fine, that’s fair, but it’s 5:30, everyone’s hangry, I’m just trying to make dinner here, man. Step aside, ad—this menopausal mama doesn’t have time for your rage-inducing marketing shenanigans! It also doesn’t always import recipes the way it is supposed to. That last part might be fixed by upgrading, but frankly, the current issues are not inspiring confidence, and by the time I’m paying, I suspect there are much better options for the price.
The Must-Have App for Cooking Enthusiasts
I’m delighted to share my experience with the RecipeBox app! The interface is truly user-friendly and well-designed, making navigation enjoyable and intuitive. I particularly appreciate the feature that allows importing recipes from the web. With just a few clicks, I can save my favorite recipes found online directly into the app, which greatly simplifies meal planning. A small downside, however, is that importing from certain websites doesn’t always work perfectly. But honestly, this seems to be a common issue with all similar apps, so it’s not a major drawback in my opinion. Additionally, I love that I can add all my personal recipes for free. This allows me to keep track of my culinary creations and easily find them later. RecipeBox is undoubtedly an essential app for all cooking enthusiasts! - Je suis ravi de partager mon expérience avec l'application RecipeBox ! L'interface est vraiment conviviale et bien pensée, rendant la navigation agréable et intuitive. J'apprécie particulièrement la fonctionnalité d'importation des recettes à partir du web. Great App, Except One Thing
I love this app so much, but I have one annoying issue. I don’t like that there are sooo many categories, and recipes will be in multiples. Having the option to edit these or simply create your own and organize them manually would be incredibly helpful. Kind of like some shopping apps that allow you to create different idea boards or wishlists, then you choose which one to save the item to in a pop-up.
This App is AWFUL
Four bucks I’ll never get back, but I deleted this app anyway. I hate the 1980s magenta pink everywhere and the interface is so clunky. I might be able to get used to it, but that PINK keeps hitting me in the face. Great idea, bad design IMO.
Annoying
I loved this app enough to purchase it but now it wants me to purchase again to get new features. It’s so freaking annoying to see that same stupid pop up wanting me to pay again. Thanks but no thanks!
So smart and convenient
Been looking for something like this for so long. Just made my life sooo much easier. Was tired of constantly searching the web for my favourite recipes. This is an app I will be using frequently. I recommend it.
TRASH APP NOW
This app lost ALL of my recipes that I had saved. Now I can’t see any of them because you have to create a subscription & pay just to log in. Are you kidding me?! That’s how you went from the best app to the worst app ever.
Solid and sleek
With the modern interface and good functions this is the app to choose. However there are some feature requests that would make this the ultimate, i hope they will listen. :-) Combine accounts, so that me and another person can contribute from each account, just like in the Todo app from MS Ability to remove import URL Storing instruction videos Having images part of steps Portion scaling of recipes
Importing requires plan
With the free plan, you don’t even get a couple imports from an external app. You get none which completely defeats the purpose. $79.99 annual to organize is so expensive. You might as well just continue using Pinterest
It’s ok but very glitchy
I want this to be awesome, and in theory it is, but the actual use and execution is meh. Recipes don’t always load, if you have to add your own ingredients because it doesn’t pull them over it glitches and exists app without adding to list when asked. I want this to be awesome but there are a lot of tweaks, like it often saves as “instagram recipe” and you have to change the name. Probably 30-40% of my recipes have said “recipe uploading” for two weeks. In short I wish I don’t spend the money but hope they have some updates and fix some glitching soon!

Constant ads, constant, pop-ups, full page hostage screens that prevent you from getting to your recipe. I already paid for this app and now it’s full of ads.
Useful recipe database
This app is useful to hold and store all my recipes. Had some initial issues with it that have been sorted by the support team. Easy to use and follow.
Enter your own recipes BUT beware the ads in search
I like being able to see recipes without a MILLION ads popping up. Unfortunately you will find Pinterest and other social media recipes here, along with ALL their annoying sponsorship ads. I love to have a place to put my recipes, but I really REALLY dislike the disruptive ads that have ruined other platforms.
Works for some videos from social media
I purchased this to save me time. I find tons of recipes on Facebook. Being able to save them & have the ingredients & instructions parsed out for me is awesome. However, this doesn’t work on a. Reels. Some it just saves the video, which is still helpful, but I have to go back in and pull out the ingredient list and instructions, even when they’re listed out on the screen

One of the best apps I’ve ever used. It is intuitive and really works well.
Absolute Trash
The app is pretty good when it doesn’t wipe your ENTIRE recipe list clean after more than six years of use!!! Seriously?! Then it’s a $55 annual subscription fee to even use it anymore. Use Paprika, way better and WAY cheaper.

It didn’t categorize any of my recipes. They are all “uncatergorized recipes”. When I tried to manually categorize them, it randomly resets back the un categorized. So much time lost and so frustrating.
LOVE THIS APP!!!
I love it so much I’m going to get Premium! I use it daily. I wish I could just scan a recipe (on an index card) so it can be on this app but it’s fine. I use this daily. I can’t imagine how much more helpful it would be for creating recipes and grocery lists!!!

The latest changes wiped out my recipes and now it wants you to create an account and pay!!!
Terrible search function
I like saving all my recipes in one place but the search function on the app is dysfunctional. Type in chicken & you get beef recipes 🤷♀️🙈
Copy and paste
I have a suggestion! I love this app I use it almost daily but what I don’t like, is the copy and paste action! After I paste, it should take me to the recipe I just pasted! Instead, I have to search and search for the recipe I JUST pasted. Making me frustrated until I end up going back to the website I copied it from and scrap using this app altogether, or I’ll forget I was using this app… anyways, please make these changes ! It’s a great app !!! I’d give it 5 stars if this was changed!
