GREAT APP!!!!!
I’m fairly new to the app but I’m thrilled with it! It’s so easy to use and organize. Customer service is top notch. I had a small issue using my watch with the app and they resolved it super fast. Very friendly communication with Pam and she took care of everything. I highly recommend Cook’n!!!
Worst update ever
I have been a long time Cook’n user. Before this update it was so seamless to copy a recipe from online and paste it directly into the app. Because of this update, the format to every recipe I have is messed up, and requires me to manually input every single ingredient instead of just copy and paste. This has turned a usual 1 minute process into 5 minutes of manual input per recipe. I won’t be using Cook’n anymore.
Old version better
Since the update, it takes longer to scroll down to my personal cookbook. The photos are not needed. Please add a list option. And it would be nice to be able to order the cookbooks manually so I can put my favorites at the top. Kinda clunky right now. Program is awesome, but I liked the app better before.
Greedy!
Been using this app for years. Was a great app when it was free to use. Recently got a new phone and when I opened the app, it told me I had to buy a subscription if I didn’t want to lose my recipes I had saved. I got a basic membership and opened the app…all my recipes were gone! I reached out to tech support and they told me I had to pay for them to help me. Terrible! Need to find a better alternative than this one…
Help
My iOS app is not working at all. My windows app is fine but this is ongoing. I’m starting to consider changing apps
Fabulous Software
I have been using this software for probably 9 years or more. I absolutely love it! When grocery shopping I can whip open the app and make sure I have in my cart all of the ingredients necessary to make each recipe. And the ability to scale the recipe to accommodate the number of servings I want each time, is a huge plus.
Holding recipes hostage
Been a free subscriber to this app for over six years. All of a sudden I can’t access my recipes unless I pay $4.99 to download them. Ridiculous!
Easy to use, free version is a nice experience
Very easy to capture recipes with just pasting a link and add them to different categories, ads can be a little annoying but since the app is free I get it
Advertisements!
Great update if you don’t like convenience, but love watching ads! Ruined this app!
Error preventing opening
The app wont open. Says no internet connection. I have done all the updates. I love the app and am loosing lots of recipes if not fixed. Please help
Best Recipe App
I've been using Cook'n for years. Couldn't live without it!
Lost all my recipes
I have lost all my recipes after the launch/reboot issue the app just had. I have been storing these for years and now some of our family favorite recipes are gone. This is the worst app ever!
Can’t get into the app on Easter!
The app would not open up when I was trying to get a few of my recipes for Easter dinner. It says “no internet” but that is not the case! MY internet is working and has been all day. So disheartening as I have guests coming over!
Glitchy
Disappointed by the frequency of crashing. I have paid for full software but can barely use it as it crashes almost immediately on iPhone, iPad and PC.
Annoying ads
Great for keeping recipes but the long ad for themselves that you have to watch every time you want to access a recipe has got to stop!!! Even after the upgrade they still push the upgrade!! That added to the fact they forced me to upgrade to keep my recipes when I got a new phone means it’s Time for me to shop around for a new recipe app!
Amazing app
I love this app. Cook’n is awesome. The software is constantly being upgraded with cutting edge AI features that actually make a difference. Customer service is second to none-truly impressive. I was so happy with it that I just upgraded to the family plan so I can share it with my daughter. Highly recommend!
stopped working
After 2 days and maybe 5 recipes added it just stopped working - would not open and said “no internet” which was not accurate. This app is garbage. Don’t waste your time.
Good
A good way to keep track of all your recipes and than some. I use this app to clear out all my recipe books that I only like a few recipes from. Love it! With the free app I can scan up to 5 recipes a day, which is all I need.
So much potential
I would love to give this app a great recommendation as it has everything I would like in a recipe app. But it crashes so much just on opening let alone when trying to enter a recipe or sync. Lots of problems with the app which means I really don't want to fork out $80 for the computer software. Sorry - needs some work.
Great app but too many ads
Too many ads
Absolutely- the BEST recipe app
I love Cook’n app.i have been using for several years and find it to be very user friendly, powerful, flexible and robust. It is constantly evolving , getting better and better all the time. My most favorite feature is ‘scan’ as I have collected recipes from magazines, newspaper, classes, friends and family for decades. I can now easily search or review recipes rather than spending too much time looking. Secondly, sharing a recipe is a snap via text or email. The subscription is well worth the nominal price - I would be devastated if I lost my collection. Thank you DVO.
Overpriced and over hyped
The scanning function is pretty inaccurate, I have had much better luck with Recipe Bro (free). There are ads in the suggested recipes feed, if I want that I will go to Pinterest. And they seem to think we want to pay for a social media experience, no thanks. The basic plan does not offer support, why would I pay for an app with no support? Update regarding the developer’s response: I stand by my review re scanning accuracy and support. I have currently scanned over 100 recipes with Recipe Bro and have never had to edit even one, and this even includes handwritten recipes from old recipe cards. For recipes with handwritten notes, it scans the note along with the recipe. Their AI scanning technology is phenomenal. The developer of Cook’n needs to check his competition before being so defensive about the quality of his product. I have no connection to the developers of Recipe Bro. Also, I found two minor bugs when using Recipe Bro and they were very responsive, issuing a fix in less than one day. For a fraction of the price of Cook’n, the support was amazing.
Great site
I’ve been using the Cook’n program for many years now and apart from one or two hiccups along the way (which have been solved swiftly by their support team) it has worked extremely well for me. I travel quite a lot throughout the world and it means I have my entire recipe database on me wherever I go. On my iPhone, iPad and also my MacBook. The hiccups have nearly always been when the computer manufacturers update their systems, expecting DVO to follow suite immediately. Well pleased with the program. Tom, UK and Europe.
Pinterest not syncing
It doesn’t allow me to sign in to my Pinterest account. I hope I can sync my account to this app.
Cook’n
I was a little worried when this company took over Mastercook but it turns out this is way more advanced. There’s a little bit of a learning curve to get the settings how you want them, but man is it cool once you get it set.
Very MAGA Friendly
The app is great but I would not recommend any subscription services. Very right leaning views in their newsletter.
Sweet app
Great app.
Pinterest won’t work
I am getting a little frustrated because it won’t work to link up my Pinterest to the app...every time I try it does not give me enough time to sign into my Pinterest it just keeps redirecting me to the app....it is getting soo annoying
Helpful
I purchased Cook’n recipe keeper to help me stay organized in my bakery. So easy to look up recipes and import them. I had a few struggles at first, but the tech support was patient and so helpful. Love it!
Best App
I now have an organized place for my favourite dishes I’ve been using for a few years now. Absolutely love it. With the new update the other day I can’t access the app any more. 😢. My iPad is around 8 years old. But everything else is still working just fine
Upload screenshots
Can you please make an update where we can upload screeenshots of recipes??? Please??? I often take photos of recipes from magazines or newspapers or have someone send me a screen shot of a tried and true family recipe. I have so many in my phone’s photo album I’d love to be able to use Cook’n as my only go-to when trying to find recipes. Thanks a lot. Other than that the app is great!
Great customer support
I am a MasterCook transfer. I really haven’t used the program that much but I’m giving it 5 stars because of the support I received from Pam. The big issue was bringing over my recipes. The cost to do did seem a bit pricey after paying for an annual subscription. But still 5 stars because of Pam’s support.
Seriously disparaging...
I loved using this app, but I now need a cloud account. I hate cloud accounts. I don't want a cloud account. I paid for 10 copies of this app for my family and now I can't use this mobile app because I need a stupid "I own your soul" cloud account. Leave me alone! I'll decide if I want a cloud account. If I can't use this app without a cloud account, I want my money back! You get one undeserved star because I can't leave this review with anything less.
Why the hate?
I can’t understand the negative reviews. I have had the desktop app for almost 20 years, so was happy to get this app for my iPad. I can sync all my recipes between the two which makes it easy to take the recipe to the kitchen or create a grocery list to take to the store. I love the ability to capture recipes from a website and save them. The technical support has been great for the odd occasion I’ve had to use them. Yes, you have to pay a monthly fee to get the full benefit but there are some payment options. My only complaint is that they are constantly adding new features and making it better that I have a hard time keeping up with the changes.
Great tool
Love using Cook’n to capture and store new and old recipes. Recently had a issue that was resolved quickly and efficiently - love this product.
Really bad idea
Loaded the app, could not get any of my recipes over to the Ipad, although I have a cook'n cloud account, unless you buy a membership you can use the app or the software... Stay away from this software there are other that are more user and less money hunger....
Love the flexibility
My Dad got this for me initially, and I've used it for a year now. I love that I can search recipes in the app, download stuff from the internet into a cookbook (rather than copy/paste into a Word doc for printing), and use my tablet as my cookbook. The app isn't without a few quirks, and I have had to contact support, however their support team is excellent, and got me through the issues in no time!
Greatest program there is
Cook’n is the greatest program there is. I have been using it for over 15-20 years and it’s the only one that I will use. I had issues with my computer and had to erase and uninstall the Cook’n program and then could not get it. reinstalled on my PC and contacted Pam. She signed into my computer and spent over six hours trying to get it reloaded and could not do it the first day so she came back the next morning and went back to work. She then loaded the latest version onto my laptop and then went to my PC and loaded the latest version on it. They are both working excellent now. Pam went way beyond what she needed to and I am so grateful for that. I cannot say enough about how much this employee is an asset to your company. I highly recommend Cook’n to anybody who wants to have a recipe program on their computer computers.
Crooks
Need to send money if your data gets lost unless using pic version. Just not honest
Best cooking app ever
Love the features. Just would be great if you could automatically generate shopping lists from recipes. Perhaps something for the future. Di
