The BEST app for recipes
I truly do use the ATK multiple times a week. I get compliments on everything I’ve made and always boast about the additional features, especially the product reviews and recommendations. This app will change your life.

Could be better
Honestly, the first cooking app I see is available to me requires money for me to even use it, then again stating it’s for 12+! I’m 14 trying to learn how to cook without stressing my parents about money, and so they aren’t constantly over my shoulders about how dangerous cooking is while I’m actively cooking. I wish some apps have free online programs for teens and kids who mature quicker than adults like to admit! Although this app showed helpful tips, the constant “Join free for 14 days!” Is an annoyance. Being my age is a struggle with my situation and preferences. Helpful, then again, not. So, Could be better.
Love the content, not the app
A subscriber to CI for a decade and love everything about it. The app leaves a lot to be desired, constantly having to re-log in, and every time I open it - even after closing a minute earlier - it goes back to the home page making me have to re-find the recipe 🤷♂️

You have to pay
These people are money grubbers. You can’t do anything with this without paying for a subscription. The App Store should disclose that. I would not have bothered to download
Great app and recipes but….
I only wish there were more vegetarian recipes and lower fat and/or salt recipes. There are many older adults who enjoy cooking and are on reduced fat and/or salt diets. So at the very least try to include some options for substitutions to decrease saturated fats and salt. The recipes are really easy to follow so I think many people don’t have the experience to be able to come up with their own substitutions. The great thing about this app is you don’t have to be an experienced chef to produce beautiful and tasty dishes!! I realize this isn’t possible for every dish but would be great when possible. This is coming from. 70 yo man with mild coronary artery disease, elevated lipids and hypertension who loves to cook and eat and is trying to be healthy as well!
App boots me out if I don’t close it
I love ATK but this app has frustrated me. If I don’t close the app right away after using it, the next time I go to use the app, I get the login page and it doesn’t accept login. I have to wait a day and then I click app and I’m back. This is so frustrating when I need a recipe but can’t access it. Help.
Great recipes but the app needs improvement
You know an app’s search function is bad when you have to use Google to find a specific ATK recipe instead. Also, it’s surprising that you still can’t zoom in on recipes or articles. That feels like a basic feature in this day and age.
My favorite and most used app
This app is amazing!! I haven’t had to search through cookbooks in years. It’s a huge time saver and it makes cooking every night for the family so much more enjoyable and much less daunting than it used to be. It is worth every penny and I don’t know where I would be without it. I’ve gotten several friends to join this app, in addition to gifting subscriptions as wedding gifts. Everyone who has it raves about it
Horrible service
I installed this app after being offered a special service from another app and after downloading and installing it, the did not get the reward offered. So I’m unsubscribing now
Bug, switching orientation/auto navigating to landing page
Love the app. However, recently there is a very annoying bug on iPad. In landscape mode when in a recipe, it will sometimes flip back to portrait and some times navigate back to the landing page. Please fix!
Great content access, poorly written
In this day and age with new and current phones with lots of memory there really is no excuse to have an app that is this slow and often buggy. I’m just reinstalling it on an iPhone 12pro as it’s stopped opening. This isn’t the first time of the first phone it’s done this on.

I cooked this tonight. I would make some changes, like not adding dates to a very hot oven. However, overall I would cook it again.
Excellent
I use this app all the time, for recipe ideas, choosing side dishes, figuring out which kind of capers or syrup to buy, seeing which ladle works best, what the Best Buy appliance is, etc. I’ve added many recipes to my box thanks to ATK and I’ve never ever made anything that wasn’t at least good. I now make a pork chop that EVERY SINGLE TIME someone new eats it I hear from them, “This is the best pork chop I’ve ever had!” and a chicken dish that everyone loves and says, “What is it called again?” But best of all, I have learned to make food the way that I like eating it. The best money I’ve ever spent was on the ATK app and books.

Good with lots of recipes
The app contains hundreds of websites and useful ideas and inspiration to cook for families and try new dishes from different cultures. I’d suggest having more recipes for cooking for two - but there are some recipes including a cookbook, I’d like to be able to translate recipes that serve eight or ten down to two or four. Also, I’d like to watch these episodes through my Apple TV, so I would suggest an Apple TV app. I’m based in the UK and can’t watch it through Amazon.
Search doen‘t work
It always says 0 results for a search like broccoli or chicken, when using a filter like „videos“
If only it accepted log in details…
Very tired of always having to go to a web browser to sign in, instead of using the app. It almost never accepts my valid email and password (1 time out of every 20 attempts, and never on the same day).

Subscription = super lame and the price is way out there. Makes more sense to purchase the books used/heavily discounted instead (zero ongoing fees) Love the Test Kitchen folks otherwise.
Copying Is Not Easy
I’ve been a fan for many years. I appreciate that the recipes generally have easily available ingredients, and the instructions are clear. What could be improved while on my smartphone, copying and pasting is problematic.
Too minimal
ATK recipes are incredible, but this app is not fully-baked (sorry for the pun). There is no browsing through ideas, or different cuisines, just a search. And not a particularly accurate search, either, which goes back to the very start every time.
Maybe it’s me, but app won’t open now and again

Great content, horrid app
I’ve used ATK+ for years and love their content and commitment to quality, however they bombed on the app. “Server not found”, so frequently lately. It was fine for a few months but something went horribly wrong. Too bad as this is where I go for a lot of my culinary info. Bye bye ATK

I opened the app to retrieve a recipe I’ve used in the past. Up popped a renew now which I tried to do but it wouldn’t accept my Canadian address. I tried unsuccessfully a few time. Finally gave up and renewed through the App Store

I made this recipe for my husband and me and we really liked it. It was fast and easy. The recipe calls for pushing the zucchini into the hot pan to assure contact. I wasn’t as diligent as I should have been so there were areas that weren’t browned. The spicy honey really adds flavor to the zucchini. I’m making it again for family dinner with our three children and their spouses.
This app is down more than it’s up
Don’t get me wrong I love ATK. I hate the app! It doesn’t work more than half the time. Takes you to log in but rejects the entry. Can’t open the webpage as it redirects you to the crashed app. Even clicked on app support in the App Store and it says server can’t be found. Ugh
Please allow font size to be adjusted
My father has poor eyesight and it’s difficult for him to read the articles and recipes without the ability to change the font size!

I wish for more gluten free recipes. A GF hot cross bun recipes would be nice
Dependable and Instructive
I love the recipes in America’s Test Kitchen because they almost never fail and I learn so much about cooking.
Unreliable
The recipes are great and if you could reliably access them, it would be great. But the server is constantly down. I have had many a dinner plan ruined because I couldn’t access the recipes. It would be frustrating on a free app, but completely unacceptable in a subscription service.

Good when it works
I’m not sure if it’s because I’m subscribing from Canada, but I’m constantly getting messages in the app to subscribe, having trouble logging in, and generally not being able to access my account. I’ve paid for an annual subscription and definitely won’t be renewing when it comes due in February. It happens way too frequently.

Unable to open app
The app is completely unreliable. Since the website for ATK redirects to the app I am unable to access my paid content. Ugh Pfff update to say I clicked the app support link in the App Store and even that link doesn’t work.
Minimal & Efficient
I have been a longtime digital subscriber to ATK. I appreciate the quality of their recipes and modern and scientific approach to cooking. It has worked very well for me, both in terms of introducing new recipes, techniques and equipment and appliances to me. I say this, because at this point the app seems to be lacking much of these features and is more recipe oriented. Reading the reviews, this seems to be an issue for some. On the other hand, this information is readily available from their web site and other sources. When it comes to cooking this minimal approach lends itself well to using this app as an aid and quick reference app on an iPhone. As for the subscription issues, I had none. Downloaded the app, log in with my username and password from my existing all digital subscription. The app opened up right away, recognizing me and giving me access to my recipe box. If you are thinking about downloading this app, setup your digital subscription first through their website. Once it is up and running, then go download the app, login and launch. All should work well.

Fabulous
I combined this recipe with ATK’s recipe for grilled chicken and peaches with balsamic glaze and goat cheese. Added the chicken under the fontina. After baking, added peaches, goat cheese, arugula then drizzled with the balsamic glaze. It was SO delicious!

Please include equipment reviews
I quite enjoy the recipes but I am accustomed to having the equipment reviews on the website. Please add the equipment reviews. I like apps that maintain a equal or better functionality in the app than their website.
Better with update, but still needs work
The recent update to the app is just okay. There are now equipment reviews and videos, but as a cooking app, it’s still lacking necessary features. For example, if you jump from a recipe to the equipment reviews section of the app, there’s no obvious way to get back to the recipe you were just looking at. Like, there’s no back button. And let’s say you make a recipe and want to rate it or write some notes for yourself, like “Next time, try cooking this a few minutes less.” Nope. Can’t do that. There’s no way to assign your own rating or to add your own notes when you save a recipe. So basically, it’s just a search engine specific to the content of the three ATK websites. 😕
