Best recipe App
This is a great App for the instant pot. I constantly look up recipes to try out and so far they have been great
Ruined by AI
Formerly a useful app, but they added an AI tool and appear to have seeded their data with generated recipes. Just using the regular search gave me a recipe “from the instant pot team” that when followed exactly gave me chicken that was still raw in the middle. I’m not new to cooking with an instant pot, but I like to pull up recipes to make sure I’ve got the times and settings correct. Something felt off about what the app spat out, but I figured I’d try it. Nope, garbage recipe. This was a huge disappointment and I will be deleting the app. It’s not worth my time to play russian roulette over whether or not it’ll give me a recipe that cooks things all the way through.
Great app and recipes!
Wish I could sort my recipes within the app. Would be a great update
Not what I was promised
I'm new to the instant pot world so I thought getting the pot that had an app with a bunch of connected recipes that were already programmed to work with my device would be a good start. 2000+ would mean plenty of variety and an excellent opportunity to explore and experiment. However, not only are there less than 100 recipes (a far cry from 2000+), but there are a decent number of duplicates and you have to pay attention to the times and other details because not only are many of them not by the instant pot team, but details like timing aren't even recorded correctly on everything. In one rice recipe for instance, the time listed at the onset is 16 minutes but one of the steps says to cook it for 30. Who knows what else is wrong. The ingredients are also limited. chances are that you type in an ingredient or a word in a common recipe into the recipe search as you are supposed to do and it will come up empty. I will be looking online and my local library for more recipes. The app is not worth the extra money
Creating Recipes Challenging
There needs to be a more user-friendly way to create recipes. For example, how to delete a created recipe? Ingredients section is shown but how to list them in that section?
Step-by-Step Instructions Are the Best
These recipes are well thought out and the step by step process makes all the difference. I also like that I can search a key ingredient and the app comes back with several recommendations. And the fact that I can save my favorite recipes in my own box is a very nice touch.
App Does Not Work
This app doesn’t work. It freezes after the sign in page. Terrible
Just brilliant but for 2 things
Review update. Keep warm function is now accessible using VoiceOver. I don't know about the delay start time as I haven't investigated that yet, and for some reason, I no longer receive notifications. This may have more to do with our Wi-Fi issues than the instant connect app itself, so I'll keep investigating this. Would be interested though to see if others have experienced this. One extra star added I've been a member of the instant pop family for some years now and one of the challenges I've had is that, being blind, I've had to memorise all the controls and their settings, or have something to write them down on so I know where I'm up to. I got an early Christmas present of the instant pot Wi-Fi pro for Christmas and my husband wanted me to make sure I could use it and that it was accessible. Wow! What a game changer this is. The app is accessible with VoiceOver with a few little workarounds, and most importantly I can see what's going on on the screen of my instant pot and I can set it by myself with very little help from anybody else, except for when something goes wrong and if I don't have the correct touchscreen markings marked up. Honestly, what a game changer this is. I've just discovered however the one tiny floor, there is no delay start function which means I have to remember to set a reminder so my pot starts doing its thing in time for when I finish work. If there is a venting timer, why not a delay start one as well? I would also really love it if they brought back scalings. This is something that I put in my previous review, but still haven't seen. Not everybody is feeding a family of four, or has a family of four that will eat lots of vegetables and good stuff. Other than that, keep up the good work. You've no idea what a life changer this is. Thank you again.
Found bug that makes custom recipes difficult
Overall good, but for Pro Plus making a custom recipe beginning with pressure cooking step allows you to change high, medium, max but not change cooking time. Obviously a big, needs to be fixed urgently, I’ll change my star rating when it’s done
Created Recipes Not Saved
I had to delete and reinstall the app to change network and lost all my created recipes. They should have been saved to the cloud.
So excited!
I am 70 years old, and frankly sometimes I am technology challenged! This Pro Plus was a gift from my brother and honestly, I was a bit overwhelmed when looking at all of it! The step by step directions are so helpful, but the machine does everything for me from my phone! I love this pot!
Overcomplicated
Roasted nectarines are cute and all, but why isnt there a recipe for a run of the mill pot roast where i can select the cut of meat and weight and hit start. I dont need another recipe planning app. 🙄
Love But Where’s Ace??
I love this app because it’s taught me to use my Instapot… but my daughter was gifted a blender and we’d love more guidance for that product!!
Limited functionality
Missing some functionalities that I consider “basics”. Like when cooking beans, there’s no option for soaked beans, only dry. Or when making yogurt, there’s no choice between the boiling or fermenting steps. There’s probably more, but these are all I’ve experienced in one week of use. Of course you can google cooking charts or use the physical buttons, but since the whole point of the app is to manage it hands-off and make things simpler, it seems very counterintuitive to have such limited functions. There also aren’t a ton of recipes in the app, but that doesn’t bother me much. Usually I find recipes online anyways.
My experience with the app
The app’s phone control currently relies too much on preset recipes and ingredient categories, and it lacks a true manual mode. In real use, when I want to control cooking directly from the phone—such as setting my own cooking method, time, or heat for simple tasks like steaming or stewing—I’m forced to choose mismatched presets, which often leads to inaccurate timing or results. I hope future updates can add a genuine Manual or Advanced Mode in the app that allows users to freely adjust parameters while keeping the existing recipe-guided experience. I finally found the manual control mode for this cooker, but the accessibility experience on the mobile app still needs significant improvement. In the manual control mode, the time selection is almost unusable with screen readers. The time picker cannot be accurately read or adjusted, making it very difficult for visually impaired users to set precise cooking times. Another major issue is the inconsistent interaction design. In ingredient and recipe modes, the cooking process can be started directly from the app. However, in manual control mode, users are required to press the physical start button on the cooker after setting everything in the app. This design is especially unfriendly for users who rely on mobile control, particularly those with visual impairments, and it creates unnecessary confusion. I understand the need for additional safety confirmation, but I hope future updates can provide a truly app-based manual control mode while maintaining safety, and significantly improve accessibility for critical functions like time selection. The product itself has a lot of potential, but the current software design clearly does not fully consider the real-world needs of accessibility users.
InstaPot
5 Star Awesome cooking appliance. I received this as a Christmas Gift and I’ve fallen in love with how accurate and easy it is to use. Yes, I was a bit skeptical of using a pressure cooker due to a bad experience with the old kind my Mom used to have. This InstaPot has instilled a new found appreciation for using a Pressure Cooker again. LOVE IT ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good cookware, bad app
This app used to be something you could use to store and categorize recipes. Now, it’s a data harvesting scheme where they force you to bypass several screens before you even see a recipe.
language
one year later nothing has changed i need this application in french pleaaase i dont speak english
Bad acting
Okay, a Canadian company product but you’re locked into the imperial system. And can change serving size Not acceptable, pass.
Buggy when using preprogrammed choices
Almost every time I select one of the preprogrammed cooking methods (eggs, meat, pasta ...) the instant pot malfunctions at the end of the cycle. Today I selected Rigatoni and it was supposed to cook for four minutes and then quick release. The pot notified my iPhone that "something smells good" and said "your Rigatoni is done." When I went to open the cover it had a 12 minute rice cooking cycle on the display panel and my Rigatoni had not vented so the cover was locked. I had to cancel then set to quick release to complete my cycle. This has been happening frequently and it always defaults to the 12 minute rice cycle at the end of what was supposed to be a quick release of whatever was cooking. I'm going to go back to just manually selecting my cooking modes because this is becoming a real nuisance. I hope someone reads these reviews and fixes this error soon.
Seems pretty good so far
Only think that I’m puzzled over is the fact that I done see the size pot that they are using in the recipes! And that’s crazy!
No Bluetooth Support for Instant Pot Smart
I bought my Instant Pot Smart way back in December of 2016. I moved several times since then, and was happy to find this gem in an old box. When I plugged it in, however, downloaded the official app, and tried to connect it to my iPhone, I was extremely disappointed to find that my model is no longer supported. Or, if it is supported, how to connect, monitor, and control my Instant Pot with my phone is not readily obvious. Please add support, again, for what was the OG model that made Instant Pots so wildly popular in the first place. Thank you.
More recipes!
The recipes are super tasty and very easy to follow, just wish there were more!
Don’t bother if u don’t hv Wi-Fi / air fryer instant pot
What a disappointment this was. Because I have just a regular all instant pot pro without all the bells and whistles and without Wi-Fi and without a built-in air fryer, there are only a handful of recipes for me. And they’re repeated over and over in different sections. I’m a chef and I wanted something quick and easy for home with my instant pot but this doesn’t fit the bill at all. Deleting
Not much of an update
Not working properly. I will use the app to set it for 5 minutes with 5 minutes of release and it never releases. This wasn’t a problem before the update.
The App is getting better
I use the app for recipes. It’s getting better and better.. I use the air fryer with rotisserie 👍🏼
Inconsistent recipes.
Most recipes are incomplete. Other recipes that are similar have conflicting instructions for the same ingredients.
Recipe not sortable by appliance type
I have two instant pot pressure cookers and one instant pot air fryer. When I search for recipes, I have to infer or read the recipe to see if it is for a pressure cooker or air fryer. Surely I’m not the only one to have two types of appliances. Please add a way to search based on appliance.
Fix your recipes please
Many of your recipes are incorrect with regards to cooking time and which release to use. With the price of food these days it’s important that you give the right information so people aren’t wasting food. I will have to figure out what to do with the awful rubbery chicken. Do better. Please.
It was working but…
I’m going to rate this 3 stars because it used to work, but if I had to rate it today I would give it 1 star. After the recent update my app no longer shows pictures! Some of them will show the pic if you click on the recipe, but some don’t have pics even then. Please fix!!
Pop’s Kitchen
Loving my Instant Pot. Trying to figure out this Sous Vide method. Looking for some recipes for the Instant Pot Sous Vide Department if anyone has any suggestions plz. Thanks in advance
New users, don’t get this
First time using instant pot. Followed a recipe to a tee on their app, it burned my meal due to lack of liquid (adding liquid worked later). I had to use search to figure this out. They don’t know how to write their own recipes. Waste of time, don’t bother unless you’re already a pro and can catch stuff like that. Look somewhere else.
Nice app, but
This is a nice app with lots of useful recipes. A couple of things of why I didn’t give it five stars. One is that a lot of the recipes are from other countries and I have no idea what the ingredients are. Not a big deal since there aren’t that many of them like that. Also, I bought a 3 quart pot and it looks like every recipe in here is for a 6 or 8 qt pot. I’m new to this so scaling down is something I have to learn how to do. It would be nice to have an app just for 3 quart recipes since I’m only cooking for me. Or, make the recipes scalable on the app. Or maybe just a few notes about how to do that.
No dark mode. No swipe backward and forwards.
No dark mode. No swipe backward and forwards. There should be categories on left hand side.
No metric
There is no way to switch a recipe to metric, which is baffling and frustrating. I have to look up what the conversions are for pounds and ounces for multiple ingredients constantly. Tedious and inexplicable for an international app that involves measurements. Some of the recipes, predominantly those by the “Instant Culinary Team” are sloppily written, presumably in an attempt to simplify them. For example, listing ingredients that are mentioned in the recipe but not in the instructions, which you guess eventually must be the garnish, even though garnish is not mentioned in the instructions. Not a huge deal, but annoying in context because this app for an extremely popular product from a major corporation should be so much better. It would be great if there was the option to browse general categories (i.e. soups) or types of cuisine (i.e. Thai).
Don’t use anything else…
I love this app! It’s my go to, I love how I can save the recipes. I can search for recipes, and/or ingredients! And i always need pictures, so that’s a plus too! I love that it works on my iPhone and iPad!
Instant Fail - You get a Zero
It would be so easy to keep the old App in the store which supports the OG product that started it all “Instant Pot Smart with Bluetooth”, but once again ensh’ttification rules in such corporate operendi thru ignorance or abandonment. I had to setup a new iPhone and the OG app is no longer in the App Store. Fortunately my old iPhone still has it and the app still works! And of course the Android phone works as well. What support???
Thank you for restoring landscape mode!!
Thanks for restoring landscape mode on iPads!! Please, I beg you software developers! If you’re going to make changes to the app, please ensure that they actually enhance the user experience. Otherwise, please leave it as it is. Thank you again! 🙏
This app not really all that helpful”
Just bought Instant Pot 4 QT. Rio Mini as gift to myself. I downloaded this app thinking it would help me out with using my new appliance. But no, not really. This app doesn’t really help you if you bought a base model like the Rio. If it was a great app, it would allow you to identify exactly what instant pot (s) you have, especially the size (3, 4, 6, 8 qt) and automatically adapt the recipes/cooking methods to reflect that, or allow you to select the size of IP you are cooking with on each recipe, and as I said, adapt the stated amounts for the size of IP so I wouldn’t have to do the calculations. If it was a great app, it would have a base recipe (for instance for steel cut oats) and then also have the other recipes that have the various additives. If it was a great app it would help you create an ingredient shopping list that you could either print out or save to your phone, or even a “My Shopping List” tab, etc. But it doesn’t really have any cool features that are usable for me. I’m probably going to delete the app, as right now I can do better by just googling for recipes, amounts and main ingredients on my phone and writing a shopping list by hand as I had been doing. AI on my phone is far more helpful than this app. Unfortunately.
Good recipes, not great app
This has fantastic recipes, however with the new version, you can’t adjust the serving size which is extremely frustrating. I use a 6 qt and 8 qt for family gatherings. Please fix.
Ease of use and great cooking results
I’m very happy that I selected this air fryer brand. Exceeding my expectations in many ways.
Does not support its own products
The Instant Pot Smart (non-WiFi, yes Bluetooth) is not supported by this app. This type of planned obsolescence is inexcusable.
Instant pot
Hi, I really love the instant pot and have used it many times. It did just stop working though… the receptical for the cord shorted out I think. Not sure if that is able to be fixed. When it works it is awesome though!
Search function doesn’t work
I type in what I’m searching for and it gives me random recipes. The recipes are not curated and some are best with the instant pot at all. A lot of terrible recipes too.
Screen won’t rotate on iPad
I just bought an Instant Pot today for first time. Downloaded this app on my ipad as discovered during signup and review. The app will not rotate on my ipad, that is not the convenient.
Aboard a catamaran
Convenience and speed is key whilst living aboard a catamaran, and the Instapot is a game changer! It took me about 8 hours of soaking beans and 2-3 hours of cooking them to get to soft-ish. Now, soaked ones done in 8 minutes or unsoaked done in 20 minutes! The recipe app is also perfect for great ideas!
Only newer model support
No longer supports their Bluetooth models
It's decent. But UX is confusing on first time use.
There is just some observations from a forest time user. ( I'm on an iPhone 12Pro Max.) I find the recipe steps visually difficult to keep track of in multi step recipes, because I tend to skip over some steps when I'm transferring to a gas stove rather than waiting for the built in sauté to come to heat. One thing I noticed was the "Start Cooking" button. I didn't want to "start" the instant pot yet, and assumed that would start it heating. I just wanted to find the steps instructions first before I "Start Cooking". Maybe rename the button to "Instructions" to follow a paradigm that every traditional recipe has. Also, some recipes aren't cohesively written. One soup recipe mentioned a slurry, which was not mentioned before. Had to figure out which of the three parts of the soup was the "slurry". Breville's Sous Vide Oven app does UX a bit better. Check their's out. They have photos and videos for the steps. This not only shows you what is meant when steps are poorly worded, but also provides a visual bookmark of where you are.
Won’t let me change venting on the fly
Not thrilled that it won’t let me change the venting from the app. I’ve got rice in right now, and I’d like to switch from natural to pulse venting - but I have to go to the pot to do that. Why? I’m also not thrilled that I had to create an account to be able to use the app. The pot is on my WiFi network, my phone is on my WiFi network, why can’t I just control it locally without an account?
New version is bad
The new version is portait mode only (not very useful when using a iPad with a keyboard). In the old version, I sorted all my recipes by categories, now they’re all in one big batch of unsorted recipes…
