Best for micro business
I trialed QBO, Xero and Wave as well as Freshbooks. Stuck with Freshbooks because it’s the most intuitive and easy to use app. Nice complementary workflows between the mobile app and desktop web version. Has everything I and my accountant need and is easy to use. Support seems excellent too based on a few calls I made asking for help.
Keeps Buggin
Everytime I login on the app, it brings me to a “sign up page” and then switches to the three jumping dots and never loads. Waited over an hour for it to load but never did. Webpage works fine but really got FreshBooks over Quickbooks since it said it had a more friendly app. Apparently not if I can’t even log on.
FreshBooks
Loving FreshBooks for my small business! Invoicing is simple and helps me track hours on client projects. Would love it if mileage tracker was more intuitive and linked customer database automatically instead of having to manually customers address. Also would be nice to be able to reverse the route on the mileage tracker and not have to reenter the same info from the trip to. Seems like a major feature missing.
Constant issues syncing
This app will stop syncing constantly. I’m on a pro 12 and it’s down about a week every month. I’m at the point I’m deleting the app every week just to reinstall because that’s their cure all. The mileage tracker is a joke, might as well use a spreadsheet
Great company, flaky app
I love the company and the support but the app is not great. This latest release seems to be worse. Searching by customer name should be easy. Showing the outstanding balance for that customer seems like common sense. The app should show the same info on a customer as it does online but that’s never the case. If a customer asks how much do I owe you in total I should be able to trust that the app is correct but I can’t
Useless
I’m trying to see my invoices on this app and nothing shows up. What is the purpose of this app it doesn’t pull and show any data, you can only create invoices and view clients. It does not show a list of existing invoices at all or have any invoice search function, perhaps you can find the invoices thru the client profile but that’s illogical and inefficient . Pointless app
Avoid company at all costs
They use stripe as their payment processor making life pretty difficult when you’re actually dealing with 2-3 companies rather than 1.

Website works okay, but app is terrible
I have never experienced an accounting app with more bugs. I’ve called customer support years ago and still dealing with the same bugs to this day, app freezes nonstop, never stays logged in, takes minutes to upload photos and then half the time just kicks you out, makes putting in receipt, and invoicing almost impossible.
Mileage Tracker
Would be great if we could favorite places so we don’t have to enter our start place each time. And would it’d be great to have an option for round trip checkbox
Mileage Tracking
Please remember the last 5-10 addresses used for from/to addresses. Consider an option to create a return trip as well. Users could then just edit return trip start time. Having to type in addresses daily is not user friendly.
More bugs than an outhouse
Web browser version on desktop is ok, mobile app is super glitchy.
6years of use
I’ve been using this site for my invoices for about six years and I don’t know what update they did but it’s beginning to really annoy me and I’m searching for a new invoice app. The drop down menu is glitching, I don’t want to add a new item every time I invoice I am having difficulties that didn’t exist before. Annoyed.
Frustrating App
Upon opening the app, I typically have to exit out and reopen multiple times for the app to show my invoices. Often times my initial open needs me to log in instead of using the Face ID which has been set up. The app doesn’t allow you to rearrange items on an invoice, forcing you to have to log into a web browser if you want to do that. A web browser is also necessary if you want to change a price or description of an itemized line to be saved in the queue - once you create an itemized line it’s set and can’t be edited in-app. This app often feels more a frustration than a help.
Good but crash a lot on the mobile apps
I love FreshBooks and its user-friendly interface. It’s perfect for the web browser version, but unfortunately, it crashes frequently when I use it on my phone. Even after the latest updates, the problem persists. I’ve been using it for a few months now, and that’s the only big downside. Additionally, I would appreciate more customization options for the app’s layout of information.
Awesome with one down fall!
This app is literally everything you need plus more! I highly recommend it, no questions asked! I do wish there was an option to do scheduling within the app!
Terribly optimized app
Always crashes, server syncing is spotty and fails at every login. Erases all work unless explicitly saved. I can’t imagine most of these reviews being legitimate with how poorly programmed this app and data infrastructure is

Trash
For an app that updates as often as this app does, I should not have to login to the app every single day after I click the remember me tab. I should not open the app and have to login every day and then have the app act like it’s my first time ever logging in and want to walk me through everything. Every single day it logs me out and I have to login. It has to send me an email with a code that I have to enter in and then the app freezes when I enter it in and I have to restart the app. Every single day.
Mileage
Very upset with the recent update to remove automatic mileage tracking being a small business owner I am constantly running all over the place. It was very convenient to know it was tracking and then twice a week I would just go in and choose which ones were business related. I’ve been a user for quite a few years now and this is making me. Very inconvenient.
Huge fan
Have been using this software to organize my business accounting for three years—and it never fails. It’s one of the few softwares I love.
Two bugs that cost me
FreshBooks acknowledged two bugs in their software. I’m sure there’s more but these two have directly impacted me and I still got charged full price and they refused to refund any of the money I’ve paid. Simply not good business practice.
great QB alternative
But the mileage app tracker only works 10% of the time despite a few email threads with customer support and reinstalling app multiple times and all the suggestions. it only captures 1 out of 10 trips even with iphone unlocked and app open
The most glitchy app that exists
I literally do not understand why this app doesn’t work nine times out of ten. It constantly needs an update to “fix bugs”, but nothing changes. Most times, my invoices and expenses won’t load. If I go to edit an invoice, it will often change the address in the invoice. It literally makes doing my job impossible. I do not understand what the issue is. Freshbooks needs to hire better app developers.

The app was great until every time I try to send an invoice to a client it won't even open.
Constantly fails
Ridiculous. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to sign in it asks for a code, even though EVERY SINGLE TIME I CLICK “REMEMBER THIS DEVICE “ and then half the time I finally get on it tells me I have no invoices and I can’t access my customers! Please, fix this issue!! I’ve put up with it for a long time now and I’m over it!!!
It’s pretty great
I love the time tracker and invoice function. The only problem I have is that when I upload receipts and add those to an invoice, there is no automated bank reconciliation. And you have to delete each manually uploaded receipt to make the books work. I’m running quickbooks next to it because of that. Also having to pay $30 extra a month after reaching 50 clients seems a little lame. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars. Looking forward to when they fix the receipt upload/ bank stuff.
Lots of Issues
In general I’ve liked using Freshbooks, but for the price this app is not great. My clients don’t receive updated invoices when I enter in a payment. When I go to send an invoice I can’t choose to add a pdf and it only shows me the option once it’s already sent and it shows it’s deselected. My business services seem less professional because of the issues FreshBooks presents.

App is designed well, but crashes often and has errors when submitting invoices. Clients can only pay the invoice half of the time, the other half of the time they can only view the invoice.

Very easy to use, still getting an understanding of category’s and the meaning behind them all but I think it’s a great idea for the future and the next step in this journey, thank you. ❤️🙏🏻

It is virtually impossible to cancel this from the app.

Except cant edit invoices duplicated off old ones.
Barely functional
App doesn’t have a Home button anywhere that’s easily viewable. If I goto an invoice within a client page, I have to close out the app and reopen it to get to the Home Screen.
Works Okay
It’s pretty convenient and has lots of great features , I’ve used it for a couple years for my business , but it regularly has bugs and has to be deleted and re downloaded on IOS, a few times there hasn’t been a fix and have to use the website instead of the app, customer support is helpful in all the tough situations though

Mileage Tracking
Where is the manual mileage tracking? I dont want mileage tracking in the background all of the time. I want control of the tools that I use. Who is this app for and who benefits? The customer or Freshbooks?
Buggy
Okay but recently gives me an error code 5006 preventing me from logging in and I have to reinstall the app over again to fix it. It gets annoying.
Update broke mileage tracking
After this update the app won’t track mileage and it gets stuck in the setup loop asking me to make changes in setting to ALWAYS allow tracking. I make the changes and it kicks me out of the setup process. Mileage tracking was spotty before this but now it’s unusable.
Unable to edit invoices
Please fox the error that doesn’t allow you to edit invoices. When you go to save your changes it tells you that it’s unable to save because that invoice number already exists. HELP!!
Billing Simplified
I’ve been operating my small business for 25 years. Finally registering and using FreshBooks really streamlined my business. I wish I had done it sooner. Thank you Freshbooks!
Dashboard??
I swear there used to be a dashboard accessible via the app. Now I can only find it on my desktop. Why?
Won’t open
Can’t open the app or log in keeps telling to refresh page in 30 seconds
Can’t stay logged in.
Been using FreshBooks for 5 years. Unfortunately the app will not stay logged in and constantly requires authenticating. May have to migrate to a competitor.
The mobile app needs work
I like the web application, however the app needs updates constantly and sometimes I can not save the invoices even though the app is up to date.

Extremely laggy, don’t recommend
I’ve been using FreshBooks invoicing for about 2+ years now, first year was great. After it has become a nightmare with the amount of lags. It takes 5 mins to save one invoice after making it. Can’t use search feature most the time.
Keep on logging me out
Why does it keep on logging me out? I have facr ID enabled, but at times when I open it, it's completely signed out, even though I've never signed out of the account myself. Using IPhone XS MAX PRO on IOS 14.1
Glitchy More Often Than Not
I expected more from this app, assuming it would be similar to the Quickbooks app. I'm disappointed in the limitations of the app, finding it useful for only time keeping and mileage tracking. Don't expect to edit expenses or do any actual accounting through the app. They promote this as an invoicing app, but I find even that to be clunky and far less productive than the desktop web version. Most frustrating of all, this app is just plain glitchy. More often than not, it freezes, closes, or simply just doesn't respond to commands (i.e., type an entry, hit enter, and nothing happens). As a self-employed individual, having a functional accounting app is critical for me. I'm going back to Quickbooks...it's more expensive, but it's reliable and the app is much more functional.
Great web interface useless app
Been using the website interface since FB was a startup and love it but the app doesn’t open and support is a useless AI bot during business hours. Fail on that.
