User friendly
I have used Wave for several different business adventures and it is by far the most user friendly.
Misleading
I am a printing business that needs to send invoices on occasion and needed an app for invoices. After filling out an extensive form my banking information I was denied access to receiving payment due to not providing social media accounts. I gave all my banking information and personal information and was denied because I didn’t have a social media presence and I’m just starting out in sales. I needed an add to receive payments and was denied because no social media and no history of receiving payment. I JUST STARTING HOW WOULD I HAVE PAYMENT HISTORY?? It is not what is advertised! Do not use this app. It is misleading!
New user thoughts
Recently found wave as a solution to my small business bookkeeping. Makes things easy to track, reports are great, categories and expenses make things easy. Only two complaints: support is nonexistent. Additionally, I have been having issues getting my credit card accounts to automatically sync for historical transactions. To bridge the gap, I used the import feature with a csv file which worked, but randomly last week the system decided to import these same transactions resulting in duplications with no easy way to remove these without starting over on that account. I do not use payroll so I cannot speak to that.
Worked well until 2026
Everything has been working perfectly fine since I started using this in 2022 but all of a sudden I get those error msgs every time I try to do invoices.
Not for Payroll ☹️
Affordable, easy to set up. Great for accounting, I’m happy with the expense tracking and receipt capture and bookkeeping system. However!! ‼️Payroll feature is a nightmare doused in gas rolling down a grassy hill in August‼️Trash. ZERO customer support. I emailed and chat requested 5 times in two weeks trying to run payroll for end of June after I hit a glitch.. it’s now the end of July and I obviously went with a different payroll service, (very happy with it) and still haven’t heard a whisper back from Waves “customer service”, which I had heard was at least decent. So, good and bad.
So close to perfect, 1000 x better than the main competitor
Everything works amazingly well, so much easier to use than slowbooks. My dream updates: 1. not having to click attach invoice as pdf EVERY time. 2. A report for all invoices, right now I print the invoices page from the web so I have something physical to cross off as customers pay individual invoices. 3. Super dreaming, but reports from in app would be amazing. Right now I use the app to input all invoices. Then I have to go to the mobile website to print reports
The newest update is busted
Since they updated the app you can’t save invoice or estimates
Very Nice! But…
Can you change this? As I identify each of my transactions according to category, when I save for that transaction, it takes me back to the top of the list of all my transactions. So I need to scroll down and find where I was working through my transactions, every time! This is very time-consuming and annoying. Otherwise, your app is clear, very helpful and has a lot of freedom to put your own notes and categories. Thank you!
Can’t save anything on the app now
Started last week I am unable to save anything item or item estimate can’t even convert an invoice or record payments very frustrating
Receipts
I downloaded this so that I could more easily upload receipts for transactions. But it doesn’t work as I would expect. When you take a picture of a receipt it creates a new transaction. I was hoping it would ask me to match the receipt to an already existing transaction so that I don’t have doubles. I wait to upload transactions until after wave pulls the bank transactions. Another option would be to search for the transaction and then add it, however there is no search function in the transaction view, only a filter. It would be so easy to have a search function so I could search for the exact amount of the transaction and then upload. That’s how I do it through the web browser interface on my phone but the web interface isn’t optimized for small phones. But I guess I’ll continue to do it that way for now.
Boss app
This app never fails only get better and better it make billing so easy no stress
User beware
Warning!! Stay away from paid version of this app!! They’ll take your money for the subscription then leave you waiting for weeks for confirmation to receive payments. And when you try to reach out to “customer support”…what a joke. Sent multiple requests and had multiple chats with absolutely NO resolution and one pathetic email response that my ticket was received. And still nothing had been resolved. Not only am I out the $190 subscription fee, I also wasted weeks of time waiting a response and resolution. Heck, still waiting for a response!! Quicken online costs more, but was effortless to set up, and worked correctly day one. Save yourself the headache, buy once, cry once.
Mileage would make ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great platform for a small business setup. Simple, not overly complex, and straightforward. Only improvement I would like to see is to include mileage tracking. Even manual would be great!! Just hat having to need a separate app for that…
Slow customer service
Customer service is slow. Emails take days to get a response for. Having an issue with payment processing for AMEX and after 7 days, and only after sending follow up emails do I get a response and unfortunately the response has no resolution.
Clunky
Not a well designed mobile app (poor contrast). Not useful with starter plan.
Modern & Low cost
Modern and low cost I started with receipts eight dollars a month
The worst payment processor in the world
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. WE PROCESSED A PAYMENT FOR OUR CUSTOMER ON THEIR WEBSITE, one week later we still didn’t have money in our account. They emailed us and said we need to provide proof of all communications with the customer, contracts, details about the services rendered and more before they will release our money. How about none of your business wave! I switched to quick books and never dealt with this bs with quickbooks or square or any other card payment processor ever.
Takes forever to get your $$
The app is pretty easy to use. Invoices look nice. Let customers know to check their spam filters. Biggest issue is the insane amount of time it takes to process payments.
Narrow
The choices of dashboard are too narrow. Only the desktop version gives you account balances
Used to be great, now it’s all for $$
I used Wave in the past for other businesses and it was absolutely exceptional for the options that it offered for free. Started a new business and now at least 50%, if not more of all of the futures we used to use are behind a pay wall, including use of the app.
Business Owner
Very easy to navigate, user friendly, does all the things needed for my small business and very affordable. Been using for over 3 years now.
AWFUL CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Even in paid tiers, wave customer support is horrendous. I started an account and still 2 weeks later I can’t accept payments because they haven’t verified it. 2 weeks???? Come on!!! Their customer service hotline is an ai chatty bot. Then, when you finally get a person, it’s a tier one rep who is about as useful as the ai bot. DO NOT USE WAVE. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE OR STAY ON QUICKBOOKS
Great for invoices
I use this for invoices and love it! The custom options for layout and colors are a nice touch and enhances further with the logo option. These are all free features so that's really nice. I left out one star because in personal contacts there's no way to add email address; only website and contact numbers. Please add that box and I'll update my rating to 5 star. Thank youuu.
.
Super difficult to cancel the subscription. The option is no where in site. And when it was time to pull my tracking sheet for the year, I couldn’t find the features.
25% subscription increase
Really good app but they have priced themselves out of my business
Good app
Works great for creating estimates/invoices and accepting payments
Denied my payout and didn’t refund my client
We are a dry hire mobile bar and we were using wave for invoices and keeping track of receipts. Our first event came around and my client paid on July 18th in full. The event happened on july 30th and I noticed it was still pending on our end. Now fast forward it is now August 12 and the payout is on hold because they decided our type of business is too risky for them. We have gotten back in contact with the client and they have not received a refund. Customer service is nonexistent with emails that are ignored and a chat box that they made very hard to find. I would not recommend! I luckily had a client who is willing to go out of their way to dispute the charge and has offered to pay me another way once they get their refund. That could of gone completely different if it was another type of person.
Crippled
Latest update broke the bottom menu across multiple businesses, no error, just doesn’t work
Great App
Love the app but wish you could breakdown expenses by employee/owner
Professional Software
I’ve used this app for a few months and it’s getting me so many compliments on my professionalism. I’ve made a ton of estimates and invoices on here. They make it easy.
Help
Computer does NOT understand my problem. Have not been able to get a response by phone.
Slow payouts
I’ve used this app since 2016 and the payments are inconsistent as of late. I am thinking of using a different point of sale company and just using them for invoicing only.
Not feature parity with web
I was hoping I could use this app to handle receipts manually because I can’t justify paying for the advanced service yet. But it doesn’t let you manually manage ANY transactions unless you purchase their expensive receipts add on, even though it’s perfectly free on the website. Very shady.
Excellent Invoicing App
This is an excellent app does invoicing, accounting, sales, reports, etc. Has a nice reminder feature to gently remind your customers to pay on time. Lots of other features too including reports features. Highly recommend.
Lacking support
The online payment process is stuck and I cannot receive any help from support. 44 min wait on chat 20+ people in front of me. Trying to send an invoice out. Very frustrating. New customer. Not happy.
Removing free features and making them exclusive to premium service
Used to be able to send free overdue invoice reminders directly from wave from app. Apparently that has been changed. It’s the main reason I used the app (notifications for overdue invoices)
Love this app but....wave cannot load my content due to an error
The app cannot load my content due to an internal error
Great app
I've been using this product for free over the past six months to operate my new startup business. All of the features are very easy to navigate and operate, and it has all of the functionalities and capabilities of other major payroll/invoicing services. I've been so satisfied with their product. I now pay for the premium version. Highly recommend!
Customer support
It’s a great app, but I’ve been needing customer support and all that Wave offers is an AI chat bot. It’s making things extremely difficult. Is there anyway I could get help?
They switched all the functionalities to paid
Since they’ve switched to having most the functionalities only under the Pro account, I will be changing my invoicing app. Was great, sucks now.
Cleaning Business Owner Review
I’ve run a cleaning business and have been using wave for two years. Overall, I don’t mind the platform but I’ve found the app to be very buggy recently. In the last few months I’ve had to delete and redownload the platform multiple times which is always frustrating and never in an ideal moment. Hoping the app gets better or I would consider switching to a different platform to run my finances for my business.
Must have
We have used this app for a few years now and absolutely love it for our customers. It keeps track of what they owe. I can send estimates. I can add PDFs to the invoices.
App won’t even sign in
Stuck in the create account process. Deleted and wiped cookies and cache and still stuck. The website version works and I created my account. I just can’t log in on the mobile version and it keeps telling me to finish creating my account and then says we’re sorry there’s been an error. Deleted the app and gave up.
Great App Until Everything Convenient now Requires Paid Subscription.
The app and platform were fantastic to use and extremely convenient to send and receive estimates, invoices and receipts as well as for track purchases and accepting payments. However, with the newest updates and even online, you must now upgrade and pay for a subscription to send any of the above through the app or online. There are steps/hoops to jump through now that have simply made the “free” version inconvenient enough to me that I will be moving my business to a competitor who still offers those things for free.
Please optimize for iPad and better iPhone function
Honestly I love using Wave online but the mobile aspect needs some work! As a mompreneur and side hustler, I can’t always be on my computer but I want to work on the go. The iPhone app is limited and iPad is just a version of the iPhone?! Please optimize for iPad and make it more user-friendly =)
