Review after 6 months usage
App frequently fails to record trips while using an iPhone XR. Device settings are all enabled. Have plenty of data available. Added a Samsung A56 and have the same issues.
More informative notifications please
I really appreciate the app and how it keeps me updated with my results. However, I would love it if the notifications included the actual verdict (eg “Perfect” or “N points deducted”) instead of just saying “New Results Available”. This change will make checking results more convenient and user-friendly. Hope to see this in a future update :) 🚀
Issues on iOS26
One of our devices on iOS26 has had occasional connection issues to the receiver since updating no issues before on iOS 18 with an iPhone 15 Another device the new iPhone Air (ios 26 preinstalled) does not pick up the device at all no matter what we try. The receiver is on 66% battery thus that wont be the issue, all apps are up to date on latest versions as of 17the December 2025. Please fix your software
Resource hungry
The app works ok but is very resource hungry. Eats in to your mobile battery like crazy. The sensor should’ve had it’s own logging with weekly uploads through your phone. Come on guys, the system is outdated and archaic. You cannot have your phone connected all the time for reporting and not all of us believe in phone damaging car chargers.

Great app and great concept!
Frustrating and often defeats purpose
Although I meet the diamond status most months, regular uncovered trips that loose the whole days points despite having data (when you write in to question why, the answer is always the fault of the user being accused for not having data or connection). However worst part of app is the braking for example approach lights at 50 kph and they go amber so you brake and loose points, encouraged therefore to speed up at amber lights. Then cornering at given corners with bumps even when going well within limit you will loose points (Rhodes drive there is a specific corner where you must slow down to 35 kph to avoid losing points.
Drives not recording
Sometimes a drive is not recorded in spite of the phone present and all functions turned on and still the reason no phone present

Is it really necessary to have the app open at all times ? Why can’t I give it access to my location always and be able to close the app ? Is there a workaround or am I doing something wrong ?

Subjective
As a generally careful driver, I find it frustrating to be penalised for braking when, in most cases, I am doing so to avoid a collision with another vehicle or object, and ultimately to prevent an insurance claim. I feel the same way about the acceleration score, as it does not always reflect the context in which the vehicle is being driven. In addition, the app keeps switching between my vehicle and my husband's, even though I have never added or set up his vehicle in my app. We are, however, on the same insurance policy. This is not the first time Discovery has mixed up my details.
Incorrect points allocation
The app does not use current speed limits, so you will lose a lot of points even when you are not speeding. I am all ready considering to change to another insurance after 1 month with discovery, as I am not sure if this false data might be used against me in an event of an accident.😏
Drains the battery fast
The app uses too much of my phone’s battery in the background. Unlike other apps like Whatsapp that are also in the background and manages it well, this app is constantly on. Battery drains much faster than before I used the app. Other than that, a solid user experience…
Excellent way to improve driving!
Love this product. Very accurate and provides feedback and incentives to drive safely. Low battery drained. Impact alerts are a good idea and works well

How can I uninstall the App
Battery
This app was working great but the last week or so it’s killing my battery. The is no reason the app should active in the background for 22 hours when I am not driving. Battery usage should be at a minimum when vehicle is parked. I have never seen so many low battery notifications. Please restore.
App crashing multiple times a day.
This latest build is crashing multiple times a day when switching from the Trips screen to the Home Screen.
Telematics to the next level
It's amazingly accurate and I've used many of these kinds of apps. I'm competing with coworkers and we are all driving much more safely and aware of what we are doing
Does this app even work?
I have had Discovery Insure for about 4 years now. My wife uses my car and so I have her down as a secondary driver…well, actually I don’t…because your app never works!!! Every time I try to add her, it bombs out. And if I send her details to support, they keep adding the wrong date of birth. How, I don’t know. Now, every time my wife uses my car, I get deducted 30 points for an uncovered trip. The real kicker, is that her phone was linked with no issues until one day it wasn’t…horrible app.
Was I purposefully lied to?
After wasting several hours getting quotes from Discovery Insure, sending through additional information, emailing without a response, not being able to get through on the telephone line, I had to cancel my policy even before it started. At first I wasn’t offered the correct cover (apparently I qualified for purple cover), then the quotes provided omitted all the “all risk” items I needed (so it could be competitive with my current insurance pricing) and then I was blatantly lied to by the sales consultant that promised me I would have all risk insurance when in fact I did not. Then no response to questions regarding the quote I received. I have escalated this and hope to receive an adequate response.
1. Unable to add secondary driver. 2. Unable to submit query
The Insure app is not allowing me to add a secondary driver. I was on a call with Mokobo who directed me on how to do it. But the page to add a secondary driver would not load, even after multiple attempts. I tried to Submit a query. That also did not work… “Internal server error”. Time of this occurrence: 2024-05-31 3:29PM. Phone: iPhone XR iOS 17.4.1
Great idea
I love the idea of challenging people to better themselves it's a great way to go about change. There are one or two issues with the app the chief one is battery drain in my view is excessive the second is the accuracy my phone can be on the side board and it thinks it's been on an 8km trip sort those out and I think you have a winner

There’s just too many apps from one company! I now have to have multiple discovery apps! Makes no sense! Try to update something, it reditects or ask you to download a different discovery app. Madness!
Update your app
Please have look at the outsurence or similar competition. The app is not user-friendly. The users information, must be easy to navigate to. Add a call us button on the landing page, show what I am Paying per item. Add the feature to change or update the insured items on the spot. Please improve the Ui and UX🙏
Good idea
Good idea, but it needs some work. Location is constantly on, draining battery life drastically. Look and feel isn't the best either. Inviting friends just doesn't work. UI needs enhancements

Unverified trips
I’m been having an issue over the last 6-7 weeks with the app sporadically recording unverified trips for which 20-30 points are being deducted each time meaning I never reach my driving goal for the week. I’ve updated my app settings according to the website but still no joy. I’ve also called Discovery at least 5-6 times but their customer service has been pathetic to say the least. I’m now on the verge of cancelling my insurance and moving to another service provider as I feel Discovery is selling false promises and not making any effort to resolve this issue.
Not great
Battery usage for this app will occasionally be very high. In the past 24 hours, the background activity reported in my battery settings is 10h 25m. I only commuted for about two hours during that time. This needs to be addressed and fixed in the next update if the cause is found. The app and the sensor that it pairs with will also occasionally report spurious events, such as “mild cornering” on a straight road, or when going slowly around a traffic circle, where the whole point is to corner. I am only giving it a two star rating because it is (mostly) stable.

Good app but with the gps being constantly on, my battery life has been greatly reduced. The gps should only come on when you can detect I'm in a car. Perhaps when my speed is faster than a certain amount?

Doesn’t work
App doesn’t always work
App hasn’t worked since Xmas day and doesn’t send info to Vitality.. I get a notification of the results after my drive, but all point still stay at zero - even my no drive days. A call Centre person said I had to switch phone to airplane mode, then switch phone off, then switch phone on, then switch airplane mode off, then open the app again - and then it should work.. I’m not holding my breath... it seems there are problems with this app and iPhone users..

Uncovered trips
So often the app says trip is not covered check your phone settings. Then the next tip is covered. Without ANY changes to the phone ! I am getting VERY annoyed with discovery!
Eats battery
By far the biggest consumer of my phone’s battery. I don’t even use my phone and I’m losing major percentages of battery. Even when I’m not driving
Data thief
Cool concept and cool app, but it doesn't respect the option to only upload driving data when on a WiFi network. It's been eating through my mobile data bundle instead.

The app is useless! I constantly try to sign into my account and i was told to enter an OTP but i don’t receive anything in my email , pls fix!
Are you supposed to drive like a robot?
Completely unrealistic parameters to abide by. Tried this out and drove extremely well, only to be scored badly for a bunch of things that didn’t even happen? If you want people to trust and use this app, there’s ALOT more work to be done. DELETE
Outstanding !
I really think that you have an outstanding idea. and i really love the innovation you provide as a company. Dowlaoded and installed the app yeasterday. Works great but, after starting journey, it doen not immediately pick up the movement for about 3-5 minutes. After ending journey it does not stop for about 3-5 minutes. Also it constantly uses your location even if the app is closed in the background. my phone was fully charged when i installed the app within 2 hour 35% of my battery was gone. Deleted the app and the GPS indicator that was showing next to battery percentage went away and battery made it through the night. Great idea to get people aware of how they drive, you guys just need to finetune the app a bit.
