Unfortunately with the new paid version I can’t see any articles per day. Sad, because this was my favorite news app. You all should really have ads for those who don’t want premium.
Good broad spectrum news app, shame it’s US-centric
A global news option or a way to filter news to include home countries would probably see the app get a more international adoption, but is a way to access some world events
Glitches and fees
I really liked SAN initially but now every time I click on an article I am told to join and given options but if I want to back out there is no way. I have to completely shut down the app. A bit frustrating. Not worth it to me.
It was good while it lasted…
I used SAN for a while as my primary source of news, even over sources like AP and CNN. However, now that the app is moving over to subscription based content, I can no longer use it easily. Paying for the same news I could get from the Associated Press or Reuters is not an option for me. That said, I do hope that SAN continues to provide quality news with actual facts and information rather than some slop that certain legacy media outlets do.

So you had to go and ruin a very nice news app by going to a subscription model. And you think $13.00 a month is fair to read a news article? See ya! Deleted.

Forget it, now they want a C note a year for their news. News generated by an AI. They protested and said it's not AI. I call bull. Even other AI has determined that it is AI generated.

San is cool but most of the news is just about the USA
Now updated and useless!
The recent switch to a subscription model makes this app too much of a pain to use further - deletion is the way forward for it now.
Media controls
The app is fine. My problem is there are no media controls when listening to audio portions of the app. I like to listen to the Unbiased Updates. I can’t pause or rewind from my Apple Watch or the phone lock screen. I have to unlock the phone, go back to the app and control from there.
A news app I actually read
Heard about this app from a friend and they’ve hooked me. I like that there aren’t a million stories to get through, just enough and no more. Every time I think a story might be biased to one side, they go deep on what the other side is thinking. Helps me keep up without losing my mind trying to figure out who to believe about what. Shared it with my Dad and he’s now hooked on their 10-minute news update (and he’s impossible to please). Keep up the good work!
Can’t open any articles anymore
They added a premium tier which is fine but now all three articles I clicked on can’t be opened unless I pay. Really hoping this is a bug with the launch and not the new normal.
Add more news stories
SAN Arrow News offers a solid mix of international stories, but its coverage still leans heavily towards U.S. based news. To better serve a global audience, it would be beneficial for the app to include more stories from other parts of the world, especially to cater to the neighbour’s of The USA. As a Canadian user I want to see a broader perspective. Additionally, it would be great to see dedicated sections for humanitarian efforts and positive news that highlight the better side of society. Featuring uplifting stories about global progress, community work, and human resilience would provide a more balanced and encouraging view of the world. A more inclusive, diverse, and positive outlook would make SAN Arrow News a truly global and impactful news platform!!!
Where’s landscape…?
My iPad is fixed in landscape and so if you allow this app to switch orientation let me know. I’ll have a look through again and hopefully leave a more positive review. 2/5 bc I can’t say it’s just 1 but if it only works in portrait it has to be below average.

Finally, great writing, all in one place
Straight Arrow has become one of my favorite places to read the news. The writing is sharp, thoughtful, and actually enjoyable to read. I especially value that the coverage isn’t beholden to advertisers and feels independent and focused on informing the reader. It also brings enough quality reporting and commentary together in one place that I don’t need to subscribe to a million different Substacks just to stay informed. 👀😮💨

Would have given 5 stars but now they want 13$ a month. Nope. Not to mention their articles are starting to show clear biases in a platform that is supposed to be non biased.
Needs a dark mode
App is great. Love the aggregation style. Also really like the stats that show which side is reporting on certain stories. That concept really resonates with me. I’d actually like more of that. My only issue so far is the lack of a dark mode. That’s my preferred screen style for reading. I imagine many people would also enjoy this as it’s offered on most news sites and aggregators. Apart from that minuscule thing, I’ll keep using this app. Cheers!

No Longer Interested in Straight Arrow News
Straight Arrow News is planning to charge a fee to read their articles. There are too many other news sources that don’t charge me money (they get their revenue from ads). I no longer am interested in Straight Arrow News.
Great news app idea
Awesome idea to do a news article like this Especially the media miss part Just some small flaws: the articles aren’t very fleshed out and the app need some simpler design but it’s awesome nonetheless
Dark mode
I really really really wish this app had dark mode. Reading it at night or early in the morning simply fries your eyes. Otherwise, it's a good app. I would definitely use it more if dark mode was available.
Please Don’t Ruin w Subscription Services
I downloaded this app just yesterday and have found so much to appreciate about it already! However, many apps I’ve used in the past often changed over time to become basically unusable due to unreasonable subscription prices or limiting free content. Please please keep the base app usable if adding subscriptions in the future, and affordable prices would be nice too!
Decent app but is ruined by..
The annoying unbypassable pop ups that want to force you into making an account so they can get and sell your information. Developers need to understand that trying to force people to surrender personal information will just cause your products to lose users. I will be deleting this obnoxious app now.
Seems kinda cool
Just started using the app. And it seems kinda good. But the outrageous mistake is leaving the default button style. Remove the pressed effect so when I scroll is doesn’t keep fading. And also when switching in the TabView bar at the bottom it flickers and breaks the visuals really badly on iOS 18. Fixing the button visual problem should be 5min so please just do that

I came here hoping to escape the clickbait that pollutes Apple News but was disappointed to find it’s just US news. Don't bother if you want to know what's happening in the rest of the world.

Sad to see the change in ~Jan 2026 away from data to backup all claims to now taking leaning views and telling people how to think and claiming lack of bias. Where is the data and facts from unbiased sources? Not here anymore.
Very US News Centric
I have seen the app advertised on numerous YouTube Channels, which are viewed by a global audience, so was a little surprised when I downloaded the app, it is really only news from US news sources and primarily domestic news from the USA. Was hoping there might be a section for news sources from where the app user is based.
