Good app about as friendly to use as the Capital One app slightly better than the old Discovery app before it merged with Capital One…
$35 overdrafts fees
$35 overdrafts fees. And they take weeks to update your balance so it tricks you into overdrafts. Lost like $500 for using them.

I would like to access the app with a 4 digit pin.
Buggy mess
This app used to be good. Then they removed the pin entry and forced passwords. Then they implemented some constantly repeating bot check that does not stop. So now I can’t even open the app to log in. Are they using AI to code this app? Why stop something from working?
Hours
I needed to talk to customer service or a location is lacrosse Wi. I needed to transfer money and couldn’t because of your new upgrade. Really frustrating
Good stuff.
Altra has that neighborhood bank vibe with all the tech bells and whistles. Every person I have ever dealt with went above and beyond. Good people.
The old app was easy to use
This app has way too much going on. I can’t access my accounts like I used to. I am not a fan.
From TRASH to TREASURE
Original Review: Check the other reviews and you’ll see how trash this app is. Whoever is in charge of the app doesn’t acknowledge it enough. Updated Review 8/17/25. Incredible overhaul on the whole app. Vastly different and improved in more ways than I can put in this review.
Was great. The update/revision is terrible.
The ‘new’ app is WAY too easy to accidentally lock yourself out of, and the new security features mean that if you do accidentally lock yourself out, the only way to get back in is to actually call the bank and talk to a human being. Normally this would be OK. But the fact is that if you happen to lock yourself out on a Friday afternoon, you’re screwed until Monday morning. They used to have hours on Saturday. No longer. There has to be a happy medium that’s still secure. Only these folks just haven’t realized it. And for those of us who are a little bit older, the fact that this thing rolled out 100% changed from what it was AND as difficult to learn to use as it is and there’s no tutorial. If you want help with it, you have to actually go to the bank and sit in the middle of the lobby, displaying your ignorance to everyone while the person behind the desk tries to figure out how to help you. I’m NOT IMPRESSED.

Terrible Since New Update
New update is all glamor, no functionality. Tried to pay a credit card bill three times. Each time “server encountered an error”. I checked back, two of the payments had gone through. Paid double what I needed to. Never had this problem with the old app. Also, made me create a new password????? Why??? It’s the same system. Now I have a weaker password protecting my money. Frustrated with Altra digital banking team.
App is broken
Says “try again” while having internet connection and will not allow you to even get to pin/passcode entry screen.
Security
I find it very interesting that with all hacking and other issues. That Altra does use two factor authentication. Security is a major issue in the country.
Great Customer Service
Been with Altra for many years without a complaint and always quick service with a quick smile or a respectful voice. With their record I will continue to work with them for a long while longer. So far their rates are very good but I haven’t checked for a while, I will have to look into that.
No quick login option after update
They took away the quick login option and now the app is just annoying
Best Banking App Ever
You can do just about anything baking related on the app. I absolutely love not having to go into a branch for anything.
Terrible new app
The new app requires more permissions. Now when I go to login, it asks for my social security number?! To enhance security? I don’t trust this at all

This new update is buggy, sluggish, and more difficult to navigate. Feels like a bootleg Android app whereas before it was clean and simple. Huge disappointment, no real reason for me to stay with this institution. Considering looking at other options.

Update can’t install on my phone
So they decided to update the app and now it can’t run on my phone. Completely useless. incredibly frustrated that I can no longer access my account on my phone.

For the past 3 weeks my app just says “Try Again” I can’t log in or do anything at all. I have to go to the browser. No sense in even having the app. Obviously developers don’t do anything. This is absolutely ridiculous.
