Unreliable
I booked a car 7 days in advance, for a daytrip. I requested a Jeep for 5 people, gas. Instead, they brought a Fiat 500 for 4 people, electric. They told me they didn’t have my car available. I had to rearrange the whole trip, find another car for the other person, find electric chargers along the route… On top of that, the car I booked included unlimited mileage. The one they brought didn’t. So now i have to pay extra due to their lack of planification. They gave me a 20€ credit, which is useless because obviously i will NEVER use this service again. UPDATE: they asked me to email them after my review, which I did. Nothing changed, so my review stands.

Das Carsharing funktioniert insgesamt sehr gut und die Nutzung ist unkompliziert. Ein Punkt, der die Erfahrung noch verbessern würde: Während einer laufenden Tagesmiete wäre eine Anzeige der bereits verbrauchten Freikilometer sehr hilfreich. Eine Anzeige wie „80 von 125 km genutzt“ oder „45 km verbleibend“ würde viel Unsicherheit vermeiden und den Nutzern eine bessere Übersicht geben.
Ziemlich schlecht mittlerweile
Die App hat gefühlt 10 Namesänderungen durchlaufen. Man kann sich kaum mehr merken wie sie gerade heißen. Frag mich jedesmal wieder unter welchem Namen ich auf meinem Handy suchen muss. Die Preis für die Fahrzeuge nehmen immer weiter zu, die Fahrzeuge sind immer heruntergekommener und dreckiger innen, oft Problem mit dem entsperren des Motor und man darf dann 10 Minuten lang mit der Hotline quatschen und alles mögliche machen, bis das Fahrzeug wieder anspringt. Die App reagiert wahnsinnig langsam jedesmal wenn ma sie aufmacht. Echt unterdurchschnittlich mittlerweile.
Buchungspraktiken sind unschön - sonst gute App
Die App ist ordentlich und gut. Die Preise sind sehr gestiegen, aber zumindest halten die den Service hoch. Was ein Unding ist, dass jedes Mal 15Euro beim Minutenpaket für 2 Wochen blockiert wird, obwohl das eigentliche Geld sofort gebucht wird

This is a very good option when you need transportation, just wish it was a little bit cheaper. But it’s still a very good choice for getting around.
Horrible experience
I went to retrieve my first rental with them and the car was severely damaged in a dozen places, not to mention disgustingly dirty inside and out. Upon calling customer service and asking for some help, the agent offered virtually no aid and then hung up on me when I told her I wasn’t satisfied with her response.

Ich will keine 0,10 € bezahlen, weil die Reservierung nach den kostenlosen 25 Minuten einfach weiterläuft! Was soll das? Wenn (!) ich meine Reservierung kostenpflichtig verlängern möchte, dann will ich das selbst entscheiden können!
Good Car Sharing, Unstable App
I’ve been using Free2move quite often, and overall I really like the service and the whole car-sharing system. The cars are usually easy to find, and the app offers a convenient way to get around. However, the biggest issue is how often the app glitches. Today I was in a hurry and couldn’t end my trip because the app froze. The slider to end the rental simply wouldn’t move, which was extremely frustrating. A reliable app is essential for a car-sharing service, so I really hope the developers improve its stability. If the app worked smoothly, I would definitely give it 5 stars.
Fast and practical
Ho avuto un’ottima esperienza con Free2move! Ho affittato l’auto per accompagnare mia sorella a fare la spesa ed è stata davvero comodissima. Il bagagliaio era spazioso e perfetto per sistemare tutti i sacchi della spesa senza problemi. Il fatto che l’auto abbia quattro porte ha reso tutto ancora più pratico e confortevole, soprattutto per salire e scendere facilmente. Durante il tragitto abbiamo anche potuto ascoltare la radio, il che ha reso l’esperienza ancora più piacevole. Il livello di benzina era buono e l’auto in generale era pulita. C’era solo un po’ di cenere di sigaretta, ma era qualcosa di sopportabile anche se noi non fumiamo. Abbiamo notato un piccolo dettaglio: un copri-specchietto era rotto e si trovava nel cofano. Nulla di grave, ma forse da sistemare per i prossimi utenti. Nel complesso, un’esperienza davvero positiva — darei un bel 10+! 🚗✨
Scammers
They charge you 5 euros to verify your payment method and then never return the fee. I’ve never used an app that needs to make a real charge to verify payment and then doesn’t return it. Look elsewhere for car sharing, these guys are scammers and super shady. Contacted support and they said it’s a fee for verifying your drivers license which no other car sharing app charges. They tried to remediating it by providing an expired coupon code…

Made an account and tried to reserve a car wouldn’t allow me to reserve it then found an car and tried to pay for while at the car didn’t allow me to pay/start it called customer service 4 times and nobody never answered. Wouldn’t recommend renting from Free2Move

Cars can be in rough shape. But they’re certainly made available and easy to access. Customer service is on point and super helpful. Flexibility and convenience makes this platform a must have!!!

Decent service, but HORRIBLE unhelpful customer service, many issues will come up while using this service which will result in extra fees and you calling customer service every 10 rides or so.

Scammers!
This app takes advantage of users and then fails to offer any type of customer support. If the car won’t start, good luck because you have to send an email and wait at least 2 days for a response. At the end of a trip I had to add gas and followed the instructions for reimbursement, conveniently the refund button was greyed out and the only option was a credit. I sent an email a month ago and no one responded. I had to dispute the charge with my bank. Also the car was $100 a day! Way too expensive!
US version
It’s great this service is in the DC area. But it would be better if the FAQ section includes info for the US, like info for tolls.
Hasn’t Accepted License in Months (updated)
App would not accept license as a valid license due to bug in app for months. Support told me they were working on a fix, but it took them nearly 10 or so weeks to push a fix out. I know this issue has occurred before, so I am a little concerned about it again reoccurring or another similar bug causing issues preventing use of the app.
Connectivity issues and glitches
The app struggles to connect to the internet and since the update to how pictures are taken, the app has serious glitches. For the cost, I expect a better more functional app.

I recently used the app to get a rental car and they sent me to the union station location in Dc to get the car but when I got there the lady told me I was unable to rent the car because I need a credit card and I had a chime credit and they didn’t accept that so I wanted to use my debit card and she said I needed proof of who I was and I gave her my gas and electric bill and she said she couldn’t use them because it has a pass due balance. Don’t understand what my pass due balance has to do with renting a car but I was a little upset because I had to Uber there and wasted money because I was unable to get the car. No where on the app said that any of this information if it did I wouldn’t have wasted my time.
2024 update changed pricing structure
Major Con: The 2024 “new app” was touted as “same pricing, same advantages, and even better experience!” by Free2Move. However, the pricing has DEFINITELY changed. In the old app, it would default to the final price being whichever was cheaper between the pay per minute rate or the hour block rate. In the new app, you have to choose upfront either the pay per minute rate or choose 2 hrs, 4 hrs, etc. Previously it wasn’t an issue if you picked a couple of hours and then used more or less time - you would get the lowest cost structure applied. Now, if you choose 5 hours and go 5 hours and 30min, there’s a significantly higher charge added on for going over your booking time ($36 on top of $85). Adding $36 for 30 minutes is a ridiculous upcharge and does not remotely meet their “same pricing” claim. Also ending the ride is still slow in the app, even with 5 bars of cell service. Pros: Locking and unlocking cars from the app functions MUCH better now.
Charged for additional time
Just rented a car for the first time the last couple of days. Enjoyed the car and was able to get a lot done. My one problem is the trip not ending automatically when my rental time was over. I can understand why it doesn’t but if that’s the case renters should be made aware of this so they can promptly end the trip and avoid additional charges. Thankfully I had the money to afford the extra charge but had I not checked the app again who knows how long I would’ve continuously racked up more charges with no notification to let me know or anything.
Nice app
Reliable for fast use, downtown areas they’re every where. Love it keep it , maybe find other model cars and remove the logo. Takes the joy away of being low key and maybe have some tint options. Overall it’s a 7/10 but the experience is good
use enterprise
illegitimate application/company i have been driving for 5 years uploaded my real id dl that is valid for another 10+ years never notified of/given reason as to why my dl was rejected (i found out in-app) are drivers with corrective lenses not allowed to use this service? there are 0 other reasons why i would not be approved just to clarify, if you wear glasses, use hertz or enterprise (they will rent to you, no qualms)
App functionality while in Europe
I usually use the app while in the U.S., I’m in Frankfurt and the app does not display any cars available. I can only see gas stations. Free2move is international. How can this be fixed, so I can use it while I’m in Germany.

Customer service great! Lost internet access after locking car, could not unlock. Called F2M customer service, who opened car remotely, I was able to drive away. Bravi, F2M. Bravi.
Unauthorized charges
The positive reviews have to be paid. Look at the recent reviews only. They will bill your credit card 2 weeks after your ride for whatever charges they want like fake parking charges.
Not too pricey. Decent app but
The service is pretty decent. No serious complaints, however the app. Every time I end a trip it reverts to what I assume is the European version of the app and it takes a while for it to work as US. crazily there was just an update and still it happens. It shows things like the rewards plan and even lets you start but that feature is not available here so it just spins.
Not verifying my driver License
Has been a week that I sent my documents and nobody responded. They say that my name is incorrect but I can’t modify. Please verify my License.

Sold Information - Beware
Since the day after I signed up for this app/account, I have been receiving 5-7 spam calls a day. There is no way to delete your account other than email and the section on privacy rights in their terms is supposed to be on page 43/44. The document/file only has 40 pages.
Needs more transparency
Completed my first rental with the new app and I appreciate most of the new features. Unfortunately, the new fee structure isn’t clear enough when you’re selecting the time and best options, and the photos required at the start of the trip are important but also time consuming.
Greedy rate increases
Car2go or Sharenow w/e pulling straight highway robbery with their rate increases since the “merger” between the 2 companies. Don’t even bother booking a car for more than 6 hours. They tacked on a sneaky $0.19 per KM that’ll cost you a fortune if you’re leaving the lower mainland. Seattle? Kamloops? Victoria for the weekend? Download Evo. Car2go is good if you never have to leave the Vancouver home area.
Car2Go will abandon your city for optimal profit.
Overall car2go is a helpful and important option for those of us without vehicles. Carsharing is a great solution! Unfortunately, to maximize profit they will (or will threaten to) leave your city and leave hundreds of people in the lurch. My cycling friend is now considering purchasing a vehicle, as carsharing filled those gaps that transit was unable to. Hopefully if they do leave us, we’ll get even better carsharing to take their place. Autonomous vehicles that can pick you up?

I have used for years and I really like new app
Terrible facial recognition
First time trying to access a car and the app won’t recognize my face. I spent 45 Minutes out in 19 degree Fahrenheit weather trying to have my face recognized. Customer service was no help, their only suggestion was to delete the app and replace keep trying. Walking home right now to renew my zipcar membership, I regret ever letting it go.

Customer support may vary
Car2Go is a good app and despite not being very good at showing directions to parking locations, it has been a good alternative to owning a vehicle in the city. They recently raised the rates a little but I feel as though the customer service hasn’t been as good as it used to be when I first joined. I’ve had a number of issues lately, first discovering that my phone number was not updated after having spoken with multiple agents about it over the phone several months ago. This took a few more phone calls with different agents to resolve. It was clear that some agents just wouldn’t act and lied about having to escalate the number change to someone else. Then I was locked out of my account since I tried to reset my password one too many times, and was told I need to wait 3-4 business days for their security team to investigate and unlock it. The phone support and customer service is really inconsistent and it’s not very reassuring to know that if you are in a jam, or need to rely on Car2Go support, you have to deal with this end of the service. I think I’d rather go with an alternative.
