Hydra Is My Go-To Camera
I just returned from vacation at Disney World and Universal Studios. I can definitely say that this camera app got a lot of use! I have owned a lot of camera apps over the years, but this one I consistently come back to. I basically took all my pictures with Hydra, and XP4N (a little bit unknown camera app that takes panoramas in one shot, and supports a few nice live filters—look it up). I’m a semi-pro photographer (self-proclaimed lol), but didn’t bring my DSLR. When I take a picture, it's a meaningful expression. I don't just snap a million photos and try to sort through them later. This app has a wonderful HDR mode with a nice UX for quick editing a photo immediately after taking it. You can also save an unprocessed photo, several different photo formats (JPEG, Adobe DNG, Apple ProRAW, etc), as well as HDR image formats like 32-bit TIFF, and then save them all at the exact same time you initially take the picture! You can also get some good super-resolution pictures in Hi-Res mode, and the best macro mode and low-light mode photos capable on a mobile device, IMHO (limited by hardware and lenses). There is a lifetime purchase option, and they do keep it updated although every major version release requires a new purchase (which is why the subscription option may actually fit you better if you only plan on using it once in while). The company has been around for a long time, and I'm confident they would have addressed any issues that I had, if I had ever needed support in the first place. I would no-doubt recommend this app to anyone interested in taking good pictures on mobile! The one thing I really miss is the HDR Video… any plans to reintegrate this feature in the future?

On Hi-Res 110 mp, the app is crashing without taking picture. Did i wasted money ? Any dev ppl here who can help resolving the iasue !!!
Hit or Miss
The HDR mode is good... Rest all are Hit or miss... Not reliable... That's why I haven't purchased the app yet. I hope the app improves.
My favorite camera app!
I love love this app. The colors you can get in the HDR mode are exquisite. I would recommend playing with the different settings. Just wonderful.
New Version slow and freezes
This version is just slow and auto focus does not seem to work.
One exception
I love the app. I have one question, how to take off the watermark on the older photos I captured with your app before I purchased the subscription. I thought after I purchased the subscription, the watermark will come off my older photos. Is there a way to take the watermark off?

Great. But
So I keep trying to take a photo of the star and have it set for maximum light capturing. But the app keeps say “excessive camera movement”. But I have my phone mounted and I’m not even touching it. Please Devs make some way to bypass this even if it means the photos might be blurry.
Freezes in manual mode
Spent 3 mins in the app looking at the range of settings. The app consistently freeze when I try to go to long exposure. Defeats the purpose of a manual setting. With this bug it’s not usable.
3 stars for keep trying
Just want to be fair, I updated the app and tried low-light again. Failed as usual, the UI is still waste of screen space, I hope a professional photographer could be included in the design team to rescue this app. You need a clear aim for this app’s potential users and offer the simple but customizable UI that convincing paid subscribers. Sorry to so harsh, in my last comment I’ve made suggestions on how to improve the design, I wish someone will truly listen to your users instead saying “this is the free version … the Pro version… “ No! this app need a major overhaul.

I've owned this camera app forever but, because I'm an avid iPhone photographer, I didn't get around to properly testing this version. If you like to capture interesting images, this is for you! It's hdr mode is simply the best. Zoom is also great. HI-RES, with either a tripod or very steady hand, makes iPhone sensor limitations almost disappear. Clever app!
I already paid for this app why should I have to pay again?!
I never would’ve bought this app if I knew they were going to add on a subscription to the app and reset one time purchases to not work anymore so you have to buy the app again. I tried to restore my purchase and it wouldn’t restore I’m guessing because I bought it before this version of the app. I should get a redeem code along with everyone else who previously bought the app for the one time purchase to restore full functionality. I would appreciate that and then I can update my review. Otherwise, I’ll have to delete the app and never use it again.

Ridiculous repeating charges
Bought this app full price some years ago and it was pretty fun, iPhones caught up a little bit but it still had some nice features. Didn’t use it for a while then boom new update calls it “2” and wants me to pay for it all over again to remove the watermark from an app I PAYED for already. This is not ok at all. The old app removes doesnt work anymore. This tells me they will do it again and again. This is terrible business orqtice but unfortunately pretty common now. Nope, no way I’m paying for it again. Byeeee.

Theres nothing in this app that warrants a subscription. There’s more and more of a trend, because of rising costs of living that people are getting fed up with apps doing subscriptions, to steer away from them. Furthermore, there are two types of apps in my opinion. Someone that make a really good app because they want to build something they’re proud of. Those people will offer a quality app for a base price. Then there’s those that only make apps because they are greedy and are money first types of people. Those are the ones that want subscriptions. The apps are never as good as the former. This app falls in the latter category. Not offering a lot to separate it from the crowd, and certainly not offering anything to warrant a subscription. Subscriptions should give you something that you can get anywhere else. It’s the only reason Photoshop subscriptions work. And it became a trend on the App Store. But it’s falling out of favor people.
Hands down
This is got to be the absolute most best camera app I have ever used for iPhone. I cannot stand the iPhone because of the camera, and for what I use it, for. It just never works for me and I cannot stand the ability to not be able to customize or change the settings. I have used almost every camera app and never been satisfied and thought it was just a camera on iPhone, but this app is hands-down the best one I’ve used, and I come out with such clear pictures, and the ability to customize so many different options is incredible! Round of applause!
LOST MY MONEY
I purchased The Pro Pack . First was fine then I uninstalled the app for some reason then installed again. But my purchase has been gone no restoring purchase i kept clicking on that restore purchase button nothing happened. They are asking for payment. But in app store page ots showing I can’t by the pro pack anymore because its allready purchased and button is greyed out.

Why bother?
Without a free trial- it’s fairly useless to test to see if it is worth cost, So it’s been deleted without ever thinking about it again Phones have been pretty good without it. If you really need a higher quality image I doubt this would help and I have full blown Canons to do the job. Time to move away from this pointless app

Water Marks Why???
Ok you limit the functionality of this app and make it free to use. Watermarks really??? If I find it functional and it’s a useful app, I’d upgrade by purchasing the full app. And YES I’m using JPEG mode and still get watermarks. So earlier reviews that were told watermarks would not appear on JPEG’s is not correct.
Still an X even after $15.99
I like the creativity the app provides but the pictures are useless as they have both the “taken by Hyda” in the bottom left and a big X in the middle of the picture. If this can’t be resolved I am hoping to get my $ back.

Horrible business practice
I paid $12 for this last year and now it’s useless unless I buy a subscription. When I paid $12 that was an upfront purchase to have the app, not a $12 trial. Bait and switch tactic that locked photos I rightfully own. Horrible people behind this app do not support it. Who knows what they’ll do next?

How to remove watermark?
Loved my pics and didn’t realize I hadn’t upgraded to take pics without watermarks. From what I understood, subscribing would remove the watermarks but I can’t get them off of the photos I’ve taken. I’m assuming they’ll be off future ones? But I’m pretty devastated my pics aren’t salvageable as far as I can tell. Tips?
Worth the small fee
Hydra 2 is well worth the paltry fee. It is the best photo app I have seen for a phone in , well, forever. Get it, you won’t be disappointed. To the gentleman complaining about the the $ 11.99 fee, it’s not a high price to pay for what you get.
Low light doesn’t work at all for me
iPhone 14 and in low light mode the images comes out in wild colors like bright green. Useless mode unfortunately.
Hi-Res Bug?
When I have my phone on tripod and app set to Manual, Hi-Res with a timer on, when it goes to capture after the timer, I notice the exposure changes to what I preset, and then it doesn’t take the picture due to “excess movement”, which I’m guessing is from the app’s live exposure adjustment, because the phone was still the whole time.
Apple Free Cam Takes Sharper Pics
I did some low light photos with both Hydra 2 and the standard Apple camera. The Apple camera produced noticeably sharper photos. Next I did some indoor photos under artificial light with Hydra 2 set in 48 MP mode. Even then, the Apple Camera took a noticeably sharper photo. There is no reason to go to 48MP unless you are going to get a sharper image and this failed to do that. That said, I like the interface. I just wish it took better photos than Apple’s free app. It doesn’t.
Only Real-time Editing
I need to be able to edit later. Not when snapping pictures. Seem like a huge oversight.
Understand camera expectations first
Photographer of 20 years. App does well for what it claims. I use an iPhone XS and there is a clear difference between the native photo app quality and that of Hydra’s 27/48/110MP quality. Although there was a noticeable difference between the 27 and 48MP modes, there didn’t seem to be much of a difference between the 48 and 110MP modes. Make sure to underexpose slightly to not over-blow the bright spots (dim it down slightly— I found setting exposure compensation [+/-] to -1.5 worked well for my phone). Because the camera has to stay still during the photo process, I’d highly recommend using a tripod. I’d also recommend setting the timer to 3 seconds so the camera shake from you pushing the button doesn’t affect the photo. Photos are much sharper and less noisy (less static) with this app than native photos. However, this app isn’t for moving subjects. No kids (unless sleeping). No action. No vehicles. In any case, those scenarios are perfectly fine on a 12MP sensor and native photo app meant for IG or other social. Where this camera will shine: • Landscape with no wind (blowing shrubs and trees) • Food • Still life • Portraits with very still subjects Overall a sweet upgrade to my aging phone for photos of subjects when I want extra quality. Personally, a great addition to take on local hikes and not have to lug around my mirrorless and lenses. Just a tiny tripod and mu phone.

Can’t try lo-light
I try to take low light photos to try out the clarity of the image, but every time I try to take a low light photo it kicks me out of the app completely.
