Unusable
I can’t export 99% of my photos RAW without it crashing. I’ve never have experienced this before. I just bought it. And i have enough memory on my phone. Its updated. I’ve tried every export format. This app is 🚮🗑️ str8 trash and i want a full refund. . .
Can only save so many exports per day?
I have a legacy subscription of some sort; having paid for the app in a prior version previously. Now after around 5 exports per day the app locks out the export functionality and attempts to force me to pay for a higher tier of subscription? Fantastic app - but this is very frustrating and feels slightly egregious.

App is genuinely useless, it allows for metadata adjustments *so does the native photos app* and other useless tools. No touch up, not a brush to be found.
Meh
There are so many missing little things that just end up being a showstopper for me. For instance there is no “smart” mask or even a color picker to get you to your selection quicker. For the money, it honestly isn’t much more than what is included in the phone natively.
Amazing image editing software - greatly simplified!
I was so inspired by this app that I wrote the company. They are so on top of their product, they responded to me. This is what I wrote: I LOVE your Darkroom app!!! It’s one of my 2 favorite apps, period. That includes all categories. (My other favorites Paprika3, essentially a highly functional cookbook app). These 2 apps just do so many things very well, they make themselves absolutely essential for your daily chores. Obviously Darkroom is a bit of a Lightroom clone. Even the name is a tongue in cheek confession - and a clever one! Darkroom does pretty much everything a normal human would want to do in photo processing, except compared to Lightroom, your app makes the huge variety of editing tools much easier to use. And that is my primary compliment to your app: it is extremely easy to use, even using very powerful editing tools. Lightroom, on the other hand, is one of the most complicated and not intuitive programs on earth. So thank you for developing such excellent software! I mean every word of it. It’s a greatly simplified image processing tool that even a fool like me can use easily. And it is a powerful image editor. If there is something you can’t do in this app to improve your image, you probably just haven’t figured it out yet! Give it a chance and you won’t remember how you lived without it! No joke.
Doesn’t work…
I thought I finally found an easy to use app to create masks to edit photos. It worked for about 2 seconds, then just completely quit adjusting anything. The sliders worked, the loading and unloading pics worked, but when I loaded a photo, created a mask, then moved the sliders, no adjustments were being made to the photo…. No matter what I tried.

Please include options to change video speed, and also allow to crop video in app I love this app use it daily it’s my trusty go to specifically for the histogram please do not ever get rid of that that’s by far the reason I come to this app and have used it for years love the price it’s worth it but please allow more options for editing the footage rather than just the image quality and such thanks!
Does not preserve preset
Having an issue lately where I selected one preset, then go back to the library, go back to the picture, select a new preset , back again to the library, back to the picture and it reverts me back to the 1st preset used. Long description but that’s the best way I can as a step by step. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled, have the lifetime tier, but can’t seem to correct the problem. Hopefully the developer can suggest a fix.

Sometimes my masking gets misplaced like it’s lagging which is confusing and frustrating but most importantly after a while you can lose your progress and the app just crashes and I can’t even use it which is sad bc I loved this app for its helpful tools

Not working
I have been using Darkroom for years and loving it. All of a sudden all my recently edited photos are grayed out with an x in the corner and cannot be batch saved. Tried deleting app and reinstalling and it made me sign up for a new subscription. Still not working.

Good in theory
The app has a lot of good tool but it’s so laggy when you use them and some features like the radial mask have corrupted the edit even when deleting the mask I was having issues exporting and took much more hassle than it should have. Okay for very minor edits but anything even slightly complex seems to have issues
Wonderful but…
Darkroom is a welcomed addition to my editing stack, and I love using the app. That said, the fact that edits don’t sync between iOS and macOS versions, is a big miss and it remains to be seen whether it’s a deal breaker.

This is my fav photo editing app in terms of the filters, tools, and interface, but it crashes SO MUCH. Half the time the export fails. I wish they would spend less time making new features/filters and more on just making sure the app doesn’t crash every 3 photo export..

This is the fourth time I've had all my custom presets just vanish. I think it's probably time to move on and find a new editing app.
Tone doen the aggerssive upsell
It does not do a whole lot, but I like the interface. I just wish it wasn’t a pain in the butt trying to get you to spend WAY too much on it for its insane lack of features.

I can no longer in good conscience recommend Darkroom to my iPhone/photographer friends. So many bugs , glitches and inconsistencies make this software unreliable.

Masks
I have just upgraded to have access to Masks and tried them out .Very fast, very easy to use. Brilliant--makes similar functions in other apps look like relics from the stone age of photo editing. However, I am left-handed and in the course of editing I often catch the ipad keyboard with my sleeve, which makes the photo close immediately. Then I have to reopen it in order to continue. This would not happen if there were an option to place the thumbnail images on the right and the tools on the left.
Desktop Version
I find the software is very glitchy, photographs disappear when clicked on and you have to restart the software to see them again. When applying changes, they don’t show immediately and you have to wait, impatiently, in my case, while the software decides to do anything. And this morning it won’t open at all. All in all, a big waste of money and not something I would recommend anyone to buy. I’ve given it two starts as when it does work, it’s great but for me, the untrustworthy workflow is a deal breaker.
iOS7 design language?
This app went from being num 1 to being num none. This application is the perfect example why subscriptions can and do screw over customers.

Very nice
Great for a while
I used this app for a couple months and at first it was great. It edited the raw photos from my Canon and turned them into beautiful JPGs all for free. But suddenly out the blue, the app just started crashing. It would crash when making edits and I wouldn’t even be able to export my photos. I contacted support around 4 month ago, they said they were working on it but nothing has changed. It could be because I currently have an older iPhone 13 but it seemed like a more global platform when looking online for answers. FIX YOUR APP PLEASE!!
My daily go to app for processing images
Excellent app, would give it five stars but it’s a bit buggy since IOS 18. I have had freezes and other issues especially when using the Luminosity Mask. Sometimes I get a faint double exposure if using this mask more than a couple of times on one image and the slider can be erratic using the slider selector. I use this mask almost exclusively on a daily use and wish the next update will include the invert, vignette and fade slider as at present are missing. Nevertheless a great app very recommended. Used with iPad Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

A very annoying bug where when exporting my saved work the app crash. It also crashes while I’m editing devs need to fix this
Wish it continued to work
Over the past few months the app freezes and some photos won’t be able to export or save. It happens randomly either still or Live Photos. I am not going to renew my subscription
❤️INCREDIBLE….DREAM COME TRUE
I’ve been doing photography for six years now, and for the longest time the workflow was always the same: take the photos off my camera or iPhone, move them to my computer, edit in Lightroom, Luminar, or another program, then export them again to an SSD or send them back to my iPhone so I could finally share them. That whole process was long, tedious, and honestly took a lot of the fun out of editing. After experiencing Darkroom, everything changed. Being able to edit directly from my camera roll, copy those edits, batch apply them to multiple photos, and have the originals replaced cleanly instead of dealing with extra copies or unnecessary complications feels incredible. It made the workflow simple, fast, and enjoyable again. What used to take multiple steps across different devices can now be done in one smooth process right on my phone. Another huge reason I appreciate this app is that I hate subscriptions. It’s refreshing to see that I can buy lifetime access instead of being locked into another monthly payment. Even better, the lifetime option costs less than the price of Adobe Lightroom, which makes it an easy value comparison for anyone serious about editing. For anyone who values efficiency, quality, and a clean editing experience, this app is a game changer. This is a dream come true. Ten out of ten. Honestly, very happy.
Used to be the Gold Standard 5-Star App; Now Unusable
Since December, the app's histogram has been utterly broken. Any modification - literally ANY - caused the histogram to display a clipping alert. LITERALLY. ANY. This caused me to wonder if there was an actual error in editing, or just the app bugging out. Either way, it made me lose confidence in even bothering editing photos using the app, which is heartbreaking. I haven't been able to edit photos with full confidence, and will probably cancel my subscription since the bug still exists. I've tried holding out for a fix, but it doesn't seem like it's a priority, even though I'm sure I can't be the only one experiencing this major bug. Not sure how others are tolerating it.
Unbelievably simple and so very good!
I cannot believe I hadnt heard of Darkroom before ... I have tried pretty much everythingbefore settling with ON1 (and sometimes Capture One) and Photos. Darkroom is so very good and so very easy to get the most amazing results. It is responsive and rock solid with results instantly copied to Photos RAW and JPG from my Fuji XT-5 or E-3. No need for any Apple user to look further than this wonderful software.

Great interface, powerful tools, crashes often…
I have been using this app for a few years to edit my raws, and like to use the masking. Which covers 90% of my needs. I find that when I add two (or sometimes one mask) the app would crash during edits. I am guessing this is a memory issue. I have an iPad Air from 2020 and would expect it to handle the most things I can throw at it. Sadly it would often crash all the time on the same file with certain edits. I would say I have 10% chance it would fail when editing one of my photos. When I am trying to do a dozen a day. Then you are guaranteed to bump into this issue. But for simpler edits on raw I find this a nice a simple tool to use.
Great free Option
It is very thorough for being free and feel it is one of the better apps to use for editing. It can be slightly confusing when first learning it, but it is a quick learn.
Does not work anymore with DJI videos
“Unable to complete export” error message shown on any video taken with DJI.
Overall great replacement to lightroom
Rated 4 start only because there are some issues with the ipad app, it crashes when doing bulk operation on imported images.
Useless for me due to 1 missing feature
The actual editing of photos seems pretty good, and I was considering buying the + version, but my use of the app abruptly ended when I realised you can’t edit photos from an external drive, you HAVE to store them locally on the iPad through photos. I’m sure it’s fine for more casual use, but I can’t practically manage the quantity of RAW photos I want to that way.
No white balance and crashes
I’ve been using darkroom for a while but decided to cancel my subscription. The devs have been promising white balance editor for some time but I’ve given up hope. It’s such a basic feature. Also, it constantly crashes for me.
