Stop asking for star and review
Just start using this app, haven’t really been using it much and the app keep popping window asking me to rate it? Well, you will get it, but in a bad way, one star you will get from me!
In general ok
The app on mobile devices is working very well. What I miss is the possibility to change the font size while reading an article as the zoom function is disabled, but not leaving the article and go to settings then go back to the article. I also read the News on my PC and there the website is very slow to open and when changing to a different article. It would be good when using a link for a Nikkei article in the email when this would open the mobile app instead the web site
2025 update
Recent update was bad for Apple only subscribers. All my saved articles were eliminated and now asking me to log in to sort news sections Update: still missing old saved articles Usability of app is good tho

Great Asia Insight
Nikkei Asia is my go-to source to be informed on breaking, unfolding, and current news and topics affecting the APAC region, which in turn reverberates around the inter-connected globe. A great publication, with objective, factual reporting. Highly recommend.
Difficulty navigating to sections
The app does not work anything like the regular website. Accessing the business section returns stories out of chronological order. There is no way to order the returns to display most recent stories first. I am using iOS 16.6.
Dark mode option
Finally the dark mode option is enable! 👍
Misleading, biased and under informed
One would expect a major media to provide better in depth reports and well-researched information to back up its commentaries. Sadly it seems to me most of the articles add up to propaganda and brainwashing for certain powerful entities. One obvious trait is the consistent use of “official” figures and statements by autocratic regimes as the basis for their narrative. Why do I have to pay a subscription to read similar superficial messages as popularly spread everywhere?

However, I’ve found it difficult to select text for translation or looking up, especially when selecting from two words or more. The cursor doesn’t work correctly.
Good content for expats in Asia
It covers a lot of areas, including business and political trends in Asia and globally from Asian perspectives. Highly recommended and the subscription is cheaper than Japan Times.

I am a professional engineer and I look for technology based reports and I find NA reports attract me as the projections are near facts and upto date. I refer to lots of statistics it provides and accurate. My subscription which I signed without any pressure from NA and feel worth signing. Articles get “stuck”
App has developed a tendency of getting “stuck” on articles and I can’t scroll. Many times I try to scroll up or down, and it snaps back to the same position I was reading. Major nuisance that means I can’t read many articles now.

Excellent coverage of Asia
In many ways complements it’s ownership of the FT with an Asia worldview.
Poor user experience. Please learn from NYT app
The app is just poor for modern day standard. Loading stories is painfully slow, search results terrible, and stories in email and outside links don’t auto-redirect to pop up into the app. Please hire proper developers to improve the app as it’s not what we should expect when subscription is not cheap. We don’t get what we pay for.

Excellent news coverage and insightful analysis from Japanese perspectives, which are highly important in Asia and globally. Very important for anybody trying to stay current on events and on the leading edge of strategic thinking about geopolitics, economics, technology, and societal topics.

It’s an anti China biased news outlet. Provides an interesting angle to Asian news though one must be aware and alert of the twist to facts.
Unable to read offline
I have been unable to read articles offline even though I have loaded them in my device while connected to the internet.
Fewer articles outside the paywall than competitors
I know the internet is not free but the number of articles outside the paywall is a disappointment compared to more widely read/popular business papers.

A little light on Chinese economics but great for all other economies.
Where is the offline reading function?
The old app used to allow users to save articles nad periodicals for offline reading especially when internet access is lacking. Now that function is totally unavailable !
Amazing and insightful content, need dark mode.
The content is insightful and clearly worded and is a good source for Asian news. However I wish there was an option for dark mode as the white background can be tiring to the eyes after a while.

Up there with the best. Only issue is that I wish their iPad app was a little more like the iPhone app.
No way to adjust font size
Seems the app does not allow readers to adjust font size themselves. Readers might find it difficult to read if the font size does not fit them.

An amazing breadth of coverage!
The topics of interest are vastly varied. Not limited to the Pacific Basin and Eastern Asia. The latest in quantum computing in the USA and worldwide (China, Singapore, Australia, etc) is just one example of the in-depth coverage you find here. Free of political slant, although political implications are explained, from the various points of view of each participant. The tensions in the South China Sea is another huge topic. Worldwide Covid coverage. Mind-Expanding!
