Disappearing news
After reading an article, the “back arrow” doesn’t return to the original list of news. So I unable to read another article I identified earlier.
App is disappointing
The app used on iPhone hanged and I can’t continue reading. Lately it is taking quite some time to load. Experience is well below other similar apps.
Search function
When u search, it does not really work cos when I want to find something it doesn’t. The rest is fine. Pretty ok.
Local news
More to cut and paste, it seem local journalists are less active nowadays. I sent an email as regards to ambiguity of what constitutes “railway premises” no sound no sights

This is the best news app ever but these are the things I would like to ask you: please make the interface a bit more clearer or something else like that.
Unstable app
The app is unstable and will shut down on its own, this is despite deleting the app, reinstalling, rebooting my tablet. For the premium English newspaper in singapore, this is embarrassing.
Good reading app for daily news but..
I wish there was a section that shows the articles that we have previously read, rather than just a save button alone.
Good global coverage but with heavy political bias
Good coverage of global affairs and some excellent journalism (Jonathan Eyal is one of my favourites). But on internal politics I feel it is overly biased and usually skip reading these sections.
Allow dark mode on E-paper
The glare of the white background is giving me eye fatigue. It would be great if the app allows for a black background with white prints. That will not only be more soothing to the eyes, it also conserve battery life of the device that I’m using to read the e-papers. Version 11.5.0 crashes when reading e-paper on IOS 26.4.

Unstable app, self exit for no reason when reading newspaper
App became unstable for no reason halfway through reading the pdf version of newspaper on 10th August. Keep exiting app after loading the pdf version view. Update of app doesn’t help. Restarting iPad doesn’t help.
Back swipe needs to be changed
ST and CNA need to change their back swipe to take you back to the main page, not the previous article. You are the only news app that does this. If I skipped articles, there’s a reason for it. Why force me back to them?
Removal of Lookup feature in iPhone
The newer version of app seems removed a number of default iPhone features. One I used it often is Lookup feature to call out the dictionary for definitions or translations of words. Not sure why such useful feature was moved. Please restore all the past features. Any removal, please get feedback from the readers.

Good and easy to navigate
Works very well to provide me with news on the go. Font sizes are just nice and I can easily zoom into the articles for E-Papers, or just open them up as if I was browsing a mobile website. Also doesn’t spam me with annoying ads that often

Bigger fonts
Could have been better with bigger fonts adjustment for older people with bad eyesight. Maximum size can be increased further.
Unable to listen to music concurrently while browsing news on the ST app.
Whenever I am using the ST app & listening to streaming music, the music will be suspended automatically while scrolling through the news (suspect it’s the embedded ads/video playing).
Really convenient
Love catching up with news but i dont like the hassle of buying newspapers! Plus it takes up alot of physical space so this app is definitely a good one!

Horizontal view for PDF pls!!
Great app... Would give a 5 star if you update horizontal view for PDF news!
Competent news app but
Appreciate the wide range and immediacy of news compared to what is available in the broadsheet. Have 2 pet peeves. 1) Downloading the E-Paper doesn’t mean that I can read it offline. Realise I still need to be online to read the E-paper. 2) When I access the app, music that’s playing on other apps eg Spotify turned off, even if I don’t access any multimedia content. This has been happening recently so not sure if it’s a bug or a new feature.
Needs improvement
Clicking into a news notification leads you into chain of news summary; and we have to scroll and search for that particular news again. It’s highly irritating and waste of time.

Make more videos pls like a lot as a lot of ppl watch the short videos and like it and also make it have like more Trend stuff in the video ,u guys are posting too less short videos so more short videos pls thank you
Ads even for paid subscribers
The ads in the app ruin the experience even if you’re a paid subscriber to Straits Times. These ads with their audio interrupts your reading experience especially if you’re streaming songs in the background as it would override the songs with those from the ad.
Bring back the option to highlight text
With the latest update, I realise I could no longer long tap on a word to search it up the dictionary to understand its meaning. It seems long tap has been disabled altogether. Please bring it back.

Low resolution for digital download
Since SPH revamped its app, image resolution for digital download of articles has been lowered. Words have become blurry and almost unreadable. Please look into improving because there’s a reason why readers choose digital over physical.
Latest update issues
Issues: 1. Constant banner to “Subscribe” at the top even though I already have a subscription and am signed in. Tried signed out/in doesn’t help. 2. Unable to select text in articles. Previously, I can select a word and do a “Lookup” to get an explanation or meaning eg. for words which I do not know the meaning. Please fix these issues immediately. I need the word lookup urgently.
Latest Updates v10
This is the best version of ST I have used so far. The AI summary offers helpful snippets. I like the e-Paper in this update; it resembles reading a real newspaper and allows me to click on articles for more detailed reading, which helps with font size preferences. One small suggestion: apply the same AI summary features to each article 😉
Worst Interface
While reading PDF version if fingers accidentally touch the screen, the news article is opened as a web page. Completely useless and annoying feature. Don't go by the statistics of number people using this feature. 99% are due to accidental touches.
New app is extremely slow
While your revamped app has a better UI, the app is extremely slow and paper take forever to work. The downloaded papers are also not accessible offline!!!! Pls fix it!

Stop the blue links in ePaper
What is the rationale for having the blue links in EVERY part of the ePaper? Now, everything is light blue in colour. Just what is the matter with the UI and UX? The team keeps focusing on the wrong things for the past years. Simply unbelievable.
No difference between paid/ free user?
Seriously. Do something about the ADS!!!!! I’m a paid subscriber and yet the ads is the same as free users. Yes. I do get to read the premium. But does that include no ads? No unfortunately. Weird policy.
Saved articles poor layout
Saved articles have poor layout - no margins and the date of the article is in a very small font. Issues persists even after feedback.

The latest build is so different (better) in form and style from all that has come before that it is hard to imagine it coming from the same team, or company. Whatever it is that you are doing, SPH, please keep at it. It's certainly in the right direction. The user interface is rich and intuitive. It is easy to navigate and a joy to use. It is no longer a poor cousin of the print edition and can stand on its own as a complete Straits Times. While it is no FT or NYT, is comes very close; without mimicking or copying. Kudos to the development team. Now that the electronic version has caught up with the print edition, perhaps ST can set its ambitions higher and aim for a global readership, much like the FT or the NYT. With more op-ed, analyses and features that appeal to a globalized audience trying to understand Asia or the world through Asian eyes. Best of luck!
App crashes randomly
App crashes randomly when opening the epaper for certain dates. Happened twice in a week.
Log in is extremely buggy
The system asks for a subscription to view the paper in pdf format when I have an ongoing subscription that covers that. This has happen countless times over the past few years when I had switched to online viewing rather than reading a physical paper. Please fix it. Once or twice is acceptable. Frequent periodic screw ups are not, especially for a national paper.
No support & app keeps interrupting music app
I sent a feedback to its support on 5 Oct & again on 8 Oct. There’s no acknowledgment or response at all. Can you fix this app not to interrupt when music is being played? Every time, I used this app, my music from sportify paused. It’s very annoying. I hope you allow a sound option to stop your app from interfering with the music.
