AVG is better than McAfee VPN
I was using McAfee VPN but the app continues to drop the VPN connection at the worst times when I open other apps like my banking website, other apps. When that happens the apps will not load or reload because McAfee is not stable VPN! So, I came back to the avg which is a stable app
Worthless
The $19.99 yearly subscription is worthless. You scan for viruses only for the app to do nothing and instead try and sell you “upgraded” features. It won’t see if you have malware or viruses. If u plan to upgrade for the vpn feature, there are better apps with much better and advance features and for much less
Goof Griddle
I've been using "free" AVG for 10-15 yrs. 1.) Allow, 2.) Use "free" (as if a "puppy") 3.) Remove within 8 hrs. 4.) Tah-Dah, & Ow La La 🎶 🎼 thx, AVG
Is it worth it?
It not only blocks potential spam, it blocks all of the Google news feeds
Disappointing un-robust/un-reliable software
You can be using the VPN, and then suddenly it will stop/pause and your app has lost internet connectivity - especially annoying when it is a streamed TV programme. It is fixed by selecting a different server (as I’m UK based it is switching between London and Manchester servers). Really frustrating. The AVG help desk does not want to acknowledge that it is unreliable. When it works, it works - you just cannot predict when it will stop. Also impacts AVG on a MacBook, so either a common client software bug across iPad and MacOS or a common server issue. Here’s hoping AVG will read this and investigate the issue to deliver a more stable product.
Great protection
Does what the job as promised.
Slow
It slowed everything down and gave erroneous errors such as no internet available blocked email and internet traffic
Lag in performance
I find the app waits a certain amount of time to open, which is a lag in performance…
VPN
Like many other reviews my vpn constantly turns its self on and off. Why do you had updates that never solve the problem. It leaves us unprotected. Scam calls still getting through. I have had 3 scam calls in 2 days. Also scam emails. I thought using AVG was supposed to stop scam calls and emails getting through. Sadly it doesn’t.
Zero Stars Scam
I already pay all to 2028 now AVG wants more money they won’t even link your account to their servers bad bad bad don’t fail for or tbw lots of free software do the same I won’t give AVG any more money
I’d be lost w/out AVG
I’m a user, not a techie. I had some issues in the past, then I found AVG. I now depend on AVG to protect me in all of my online activities! Love it! Thanks!
Please fix
Can’t open to run virus clean up

VPN keeps disconnecting
I’ve had this app for many years now, and I’ve never had a problem with it until this week. It keeps disconnecting and when I go and try to connect it again, it keeps saying connection failed. I uninstalled it with the intention of reinstalling it to see if that solved the problem and now unfortunately, I can’t access my account. Despite the fact that I’ve had this account for years it keeps telling me no subscription found, even though my subscription is good until February 2027. I have now had to cancel the subscription and have lost out on many months VPN service that I have paid for. I will not be resubscribing and just go and find another more reliable service.
?
I’m just not sure if it’s doing what I want it to do
Been with AVG for years!
Recommended by my son who is more tech savvy than I! He also still uses it!
Not free as top review states.
First off, it isn't free. When I attempted to start a free trial it just freezes. Garbage.
🤩🤩🤩
STOP. This app is sooo good even without payment . The only thing I would say is I linked up my email to it but it couldn’t even find a single problem in my inbox.
Functional but slow
Major battery drain and slow performance issues
Customer support
I have a problem with my software and there’s absolutely nobody to contact. There is no one to help you and it has screwed up my phone. Forget this software because there’s no support. Lol. They read my review and sent me an email to restart my phone and reload the software. Believe me, I’ve tried everything. I’ve shut the VPN off because that’s causing all the problems. Just stay away from this product because there’s absolutely no way to talk to anybody or contact them. It’s just a black hole. Finally, it’s so annoying. Every time you open Avg in your computer or your phone, you can’t even do anything with it. All you do is get pop-ups trying to sell you more features. Pretty horrible. I followed the instructions (restart your phone, delete the AVG app, reinstall it) and I started the VPN. It worked for about 30 minutes. Then it totally screwed up my phone again. I could not use any app. Everything froze up. I tried 10 different apps. I couldn’t even open AVG. I finally got in and stopped the VPN and everything worked perfect. I have an iPhone 15 and the latest version of iOS 25.5. Everything else on my phone works perfectly. I received a whole new version of the software which I downloaded. Everything appears to be working great. VPN is working again. I appreciate this whole new version.
Avg
Good service
Rip off
Tried to upgrade to use VPN btw was only supposed to be $29 with the promise of a refund for the original version I bought. Got charged $49.99. And VPN would not turn on ! Their fix was to download their VPN app which is an additional charge.
Blocked numbers
Thank you AVG I had 4 missed calls from scam numbers that AVG blocked. I checked out the numbers and they were from scammers pretending to be from companies I have never dealt with.
Price
It was £19.99 which they are increasing to £28. I could live with the original price but £30 nah I am sure I can find something cheaper it’s not like it’s the best option the cheaper price was what attracted me however I definitely won’t be renewing not at that price
Service is good, app is awful
Everytime the app opens it freezes for 15-20 seconds.. Then again whenever you return to the main screen. Beyond that, it does whag its meant to. This app issue has been going on since I switched to iPhone in September 25 and I will be cancelling my annual subscription if this app issue is not resolved.
Good company
I’ve had them before and I loved them and I’m so happy they’re back. Didn’t know where they went to.
Not working at all
This stupid app would not even work. I pressed all the buttons, and nothing moves. It just closes by itself every time. What a complete waste of money. Is this a scam company like multiple other American scammer companies?
Don’t work
As I said .
Keeps crashing
Update your app!!!!!!! It worked fine previously and now it’s buggy and just keeps crashing. Doesn’t seem to be working at all. Shows my last scan was 4 months ago. I’m paying for an ultimate subscription, it’s ultimately washing money with the experience of the app atm! Fix this ASAP.
Lag issues using the app
It immediately freezes and eventually kicks me out of the app. It makes it very hard to use, however I do appreciate what it has to offer.
Great Job
I’ve been using this app for over three years and it has helped me immensely with the security features. Wouldn’t leave home without it. Thanx
Nao é de graça
Nota 1 , diz que é free mas nao faz nada so fica mandando comprar e assinar
Decent app
Very good free trial and app, used it to get rid of hackers on phone,
Not checking
My phone is not msecure
Confused on effectiveness
I cannot open the app beyond having initially created an account. It crashes immediately. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. It always crashes immediately. It does send a pop up that it is blocking sites for me though, so maybe it is working even if I can’t see what it’s blocking or run scans. It’s just frustrating to have zero customization access or see what’s going on with it.
New Version
Very good update version
FRAUD & Apple Support
I downloaded this app because of the 7 day free trial. It provided the plan pricing for one year but, when I clicked out of the app, a lower price popped up, so I accepted the lower price. I though once my free trial was up, I could decide at that time if I wanted to cancel or keep the product. WRONG!!!!! I was charged for the entire year without the free trial. And when I submitted a refund through apple support, my refund was denied because they stated my charge was valid. Now I’m LIVID!!!! Apple referred me to the sellers and Guess What! Guess who they do not provide refunds to, you guessed it, Anyone who purchases this software through 3rd party vendors including the App Store. So now I have to dispute this through my bank and file a complaint. I will never purchase another item on the app store until this is resolved. I should have listened to the reviews, I should’ve listened.
Virus detector?
Hi, your app is amazing but i just want to know if it detects viruses and gets rid of them because i test malware, ransomware, etc on devices and i think this is great. If you could just reply simply with yes or no, that would be great.

changing landscape
Cyber security isn't what it used to be a few years ago. Now with adversarial AI, end to end monitoring might work. Educate yourself.
Hacker not have good life
Happy you’re doing well
Crash
ADG will open but cannot run scans you hit scan button and it just blanks out and crashes.
Very high standard service
As a paid customer, I have used AVG for years but I have only gave a 4 star rating because over the last few months, my VPN keeps disconnecting then reconnects without warning. If I wasn’t experiencing this, it would have been 5 stars.

Cost of app
Need to look into a package for all the app together. I feel like I am suffering death by a thousand cuts when I end up paying for each plug in separately at various times during the year. I need one renewal date for all.
Great protection
I’m very happy with AVG for the protection it offers with its own web browser as well as VPN.
Be careful
I have spent a lot of time over the last year and a half trying to cancel all my AVG subscriptions. I believe I could write a small book from the experience and have ended up with a strong dislike of the product and the company’s policies. I have followed the proscribed procedure several times and am still being billed for software that I do not like or want. One experience involved being connected through their “software support” system to a couple of people who described software they needed to use to remove their programs but I am quite sure they were up to no good. I ended up cutting them off and not long after had my SSD drive fill and crash. Several times. Be careful with these people. There are other options.
Good for a free antivirus…
Listen I have the free version so I have a smart scan that is very weird and a web Sheild with data breach monitoring up to 1 email and a photo vault and yea but it can’t even delete viruses But can prevent them from coming in the first place! So good but not amazing for a phone
2 star
You have to pay for it to scan your iPhone for any threats and I have no money. I’m too broke.
AVG
I bought two, one at $29.99 & a week later another at $39.99. Called to cancel the $29.99 and lady deleted both but it says expires in May 2026. So, since May 2025 I’ve had no service. AVG kept both payments and I’ve had no service. Nobody replies so hoping now someone might reach out. Still hopeful👍🏻
