Customer service - awful
I received this e mail today from Freetrade. Just this - no explanation, no reason - just this. I assume because I just used their GIA to hold shares, and so they weren’t making money. Disgusted by this customer service. I am in Financial Services myself, and would have no business if I dealt with my customer base with this sort of contempt. My personal recommendation - avoid at all costs and switch your accounts now before they randomly decide you are not worthy!! “A decision has been made that we are unable to continue to offer our services to you, therefore your GIA will be closed in 60 days on 23/11/2026. If you wish to transfer your account out to another platform, please provide us with a request to transfer out within 7 days of this message. If no transfer request is received by 29/09/2026, your positions will be sold down and funds will be sent to your nominated bank account within the 60 day time period mentioned.”

Buggy app
Since iOS 27 update, the app doesn’t seem to register a lot of scrolling gestures. I try to scroll, nothing happens. Maybe on the 3rd or 4th try the app will actually scroll.
Something went wrong
Despite updating the app, I keep having the something went wrong screen come up every time

My 2025/2026 tax certificate is still not available and I can’t use live chat to speak to support because I’m not on a paid plan. Terrible service and I expected much more - if you’re going to invest, use a different app. Tax certificates should be issued asap, it’s unacceptable.
Good app but
Good app and use it frequently however I would really like it to match others with their partial investments to ETFs rather than having to wait and buy 1 whole one with odd money sitting around in the account
Support is non existent
I actually pay for this yet you speak to chat bots and maybe a human via a chat box every few days. I’ve had to put in the automated chat bot to log a complaint. It feels like Freetrade is run in a bedroom by a kid?
Laggy and quite expensive
App is great but has become extremely slow as well when buying or selling. however didn’t realise their fX buy and sell fees were so high until my earnings started dropping real fast when I sold in and out , my fault to be fair. 1% when you buy in, 1% when you sell. It’s pretty expensive! Now I’d like to transfer out to another app there’s a £17 charge per US stock holding. Insane.

Verification broken, support uncontactable
Can’t get into the app because verification is just a spinner forever before taking the photo. Support is behind verification so locked out of 100k of my money

Behind the curtain
Just joined from HL and made 6 trades so far. I can’t believe the price is invisible when you pull the trigger. That really is a disgrace. When you press buy you should have visibility of the offer price and the option to abort if too high or outside the spread. I think this is where freetrade make their cash by not being transparent on prices. Very uncomfortable using this app and regret moving
Review for system
Good system would recommend for beginners. System can have extreme inaccuracy in live prices when completing instant orders! Lost 14p per share which unheard of for a $2 share, didn’t have any issues prior been buying and seeking for 2/3 years. But is better than other brokerages services. Assistance was fine, just sent be a copy and paste message, no further guidance or advise from the free trade team to assist with in change into there platform. Seemed quite happy for myself to move service when playing for the membership fee. Would expect better conflict resolution from such and organisation in a competitive market!
Excellent trading app
I love this app and think some of the negative comments on here are out of date. The user interface is super easy to use, and yes it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of others but it’s simple and charges are very reasonable. I’d highly recommend checking it out.

Trying to withdrawal my money nobody respond. Ai respond app does not give and option to withdraw
Dark mode support
Please add an option to change to dark mode in the app. I don’t want to set iOS to dark mode in system settings.
Great platform but the APP has become unbearable and is SLOW
For some reason using the app for the past year has felt like I’m back in the 1900’s. The app is extremely laggy I reached out and an engineer made it faster for a few days but it is back so being laggy and very buggy. I have the an iPhone X plus max and have done updates to the app etc but to no avail. Now Robinhood is available for stocks and shares ISAs in the UK I will start slowly transitioning over. All they need to do is introduce a few more features and I’ll me transferring everything over
Very good experience
I really like the simplicity of the app. And I really like how this is a no nonsense long-term investing focused app. But the UI comes across as tacky and old fashioned , definitely needs to be updated to be more modern. Will there be a change of The UI to make it better, it seems like loads of customer complaints haven’t yet led to any changes
Great for investing
Easy to use and free for most. Trading is simple and transfers to and from the account to your bank are made quickly.
Doesn’t work
Dob wheel over continue button and so will not allow you to enter your DoB as you cannot action the continue button- this means I cannot set up an account - this needs sorting asap!
Very Good Trading Platform
I really enjoy using Freetrade as it allows be to invest small amounts of money and encourages me to take an interest in the market and participate.

Can’t even sign up. When inputting date of birth - the continue button is over the selection wheels, so just changed birthday and can’t continue.

IG
IG acquired this company but have done nothing to improve it. The app needs a serious makeover if IG genuinely wants to attract customers. The font and layout are just dreadful. No live prices and you don’t know the price you are getting for shares you buy or sell. No dark mode and no accurate valuations. Just rubbish. It has the potential but there’s no investment going into the business hence the reading this is going backwards at a fast rate of knots. The developers are either lazy or IG bought this to fail and migrate customers across

I do not recommend, customer service is poor and it’s difficult to understand what has caused an issue or to get it resolved.

If you forget your login credentials you’re finished and you can’t set up a new account. Garbage.
Brilliant platform! Stocks ISA
So glad I found Freetrade. Very happy with the choice of ETFs and stocks available. Also found an ETF I’ve been looking for with Invesco that couldn’t find on another platform. Thanks so much!
Incorrect information led me to transfer two Junior ISAs
I specifically asked Freetrade in writing whether VUSA, EQQQ and VWRL could be bought fractionally inside a Junior ISA before transferring funds. Their team confirmed: “Yes, our Junior ISAs fully support fractional investing for ETFs, and VUSA, EQQQ, and VWRL are all available on our platform. You can absolutely set up a monthly recurring investment and automatically split it by your exact percentage allocation.” Relying on that information, I sold investments I had set aside for my children in my Trading 212 pies, withdrew the proceeds, and opened/funded two Junior ISAs with Freetrade. After doing so, I discovered that UK/EU-listed ETFs such as VUSA, EQQQ and VWRL cannot actually be bought fractionally on Freetrade. I have raised a formal complaint and will update this review once Freetrade provides its final response.
