- It crashes on startup often.
- No way to skip the trial.
Great app
100%
Apple charges a subscription fee
This tiny text editor is most definitely NOT worth paying a monthly subscription fee to use. It is (or was) an open source project distributed for free, but Apple is trying to squeeze every dime possible out its users. The company has become evil.
Dropbox option.
I just purchased this app. But would it be possible to add Dropbox connection too?
No “X” button when I don’t want to pay
I’m not paying 4.99 per month when I can have it for free at least let me exit the thing letting me pay I don’t care if I don’t want the “extra perks” LEMME WRITE
Non-functional
Yessir, nothing like an app that is totally non-functional without paying first. No choice but to delete this junk.
What is this thing thinking?
Absolutely the most complicated text editor I’ve tried yet. All I want is a simple editor that can read rtf format, and save and find things on my cloud drives. This one only uses Apple iCloud Drive, and installs its own folder. So if you already have a file started, it won’t see it until you physically move it into that folder. Then it starts in with templates and other stuff I don’t want. Not to mention you HAVE to accept the three day trial of some ai tool just to get the app to open, and then you have to go cancel the trial or get bill $5 a month. This is a terrible app and a total scam to get money from you.
Its great but it has Bugs 🐛🪱
Hi, I just bought TextEditPlus but the typewriter sound is not working. Is there any way to fix it? Also it could be great to be able to install TrueType fonts here as well. Thank you.
Pro version requires monthly subscription
No way, Jose!
Please allow me to choose my directory on iCloud!
Was quite excited to find this. Excitement dwindled when I saw that this app yet created another directory in my icloud and in order to open or edit and save documents from my macOS TextEdit directory it opens it after navigating to it and then wants to save it to it's own 'file system' / directory... Why? To me, that's a fail. Just have it do what it does, and let me choose where!!!
Betrug
Zero Stars. The wretched UI would not let me not leave at least one.
Still has the upsell uncloseable popup. And while it says it does not collect data, the “privacy” policy on its web page says some of its third party components may… And it uses cookies! WTAF???
Gute Schreibapp
Clunky and slow.
When wading through the fonts to see which one I want it’s as if it brings my iPhone 14 Pro to a halt. It’s quite jerky and slow. Text colours don’t always correspond with what I select and menus are written over other text. It just feels not quite there. Sorry to say. It has the potential to be a great app. But after using it for an hour it’s not the best.
App is broken?!
I use this app ALL the time because I find it so useful. After some time I paid for the “full unlock” and its worked like a dream. However since the last iOS update non of my PDFs open properly, all subsequent pages after page 1 have mysteriously disappeared! Please help! I use this app extensively for some rather important research l’m involved with and without it, after several years of work, I would need to virtually start from scratch. Any help appreciated!
Clickbait
I like privacy policy but honestly, it isn’t free as advertised when a. Can’t test without signup. B. Can’t use without subscribing. Banking on people forgetting to cancel eh? 3 days??? and then costs $5 or whatever? Moving on nothing to see here.
App is Useless unless you buy TextEdit+
Every time I try the app, it asks me to purchase TextEdit+ so I can use AI and blah, blah, blah. No way for me to say nope. Useless.
Very good value for versatile editor
I bought this mainly to edit text files on cloud drives. It does this perfectly for me and I am now using it for a lot of other small tasks too. The description in the AppStore sets out clearly what this app can do. Highly recommended, particularly as it is a one-off purchase at a very reasonable price.
Forces you to buy!
Forces you to buy a monthly subscription just to use it. Honestly it’s not worth it. I uninstalled it after 2 minutes trying to figure out how to get off the purchase screen and gave up since there was no “no thanks” or an “X” on the page to leave and not buy! I’ll find something free like it should be since it’s just note app…. I’ll spend my money on lunch instead.
Good App
Very pleased with my document and always use it to type letters. Good App
Useless
Can’t get past the 3 day trial. The only option is to click the free trail. Ridiculous.
Great
Elegant text editor - lovely app !
paid only?
Is this a paid only app? I can’t seem to get it to open unless pay them, but the description doesn’t say anything about that. Seems like a scam, I wouldn’t trust them.
Bad experience（体验较差）
I installed this app and try to edit my .tex and .md files in IOS folder. But when I made changes to the .tex source file, I could not find an option to save my changes. Instead it only offers the option to upload file to the “folder” cloud location. The feature that I desired is to edit the cloud file and save the changes with a simple click. I also noticed that by default, the file opened from cloud folder will be auto saved every minute, can’t your give us an option to save the changes manually! Also the App keep crashes when I tried to edit my latex .tex source file. Hope the software engineer could solve this problem in future updates!
Great little text editor
Very impressed with this so far. Perfect no-frills text editor, and the ability to exchange text files with TextEdit on the Mac is really useful.
Locked out of content, forced payment
I’ve used this for a long time. Now the app won’t even let you look at your previous work unless you sign up for a monthly subscription. It used to be great; now you should skip it. Sad to see.
Just what I needed
I needed something simpler than Scrivener and more matter of fact than the Pages app, which I can never get to stay still on the screen. This fits the bill perfectly.
No AI - please!!!
I will not use an app that requires me to accept a free trial or purchase of the AI assistant. Period. This app is going back to where it came from. Why do you not allow me to just use the app without this Satya Nadella-like push to AI? Lots of people do not like AI - lots of us.
No import options
Cool text editor, but lack of import options is lame. No option for Dropbox connection either.
