What people like
- Much more stable than the old version
- Very accessible for visually impaired readers
- Great for staying updated on local news
What they complain about
- App crashes when scrolling past a few pages
- Text looks blurry or doesn't fit the screen
- Missing features like offline reading and crosswords
- Support never actually helps with refund requests
Excellent app
This app is Amazing as it provides excellent high quality, up to date news articles. Also I am a blind person and the app is very accessible. I would encourage visually impaired ppl to download this app to keep up to date with the latest news
Crashes
App keeps crashing out. Old app never did that. When you scroll past about page15 or so the app just closes. Please fix this!
New Irish News App
I really don’t like it. It keeps jumping pages and I cannot zoom up the writing like I could on the old App, for some reason the death notices are clearer. The old app was much better. I really think this is taking advantage of us ,the loyal reader, you seem to be using an inferior version of whatever app you are using! I was also 3 days with out newspaper no email, no apology. I will be considering my options going forwards! This includes posting this review on social media. Regards a loyal reader
Expensive
Great paper but much too expensive, especially for someone who doesn’t always have the time to read it all
Where’s the online crossword
You appear to have sorted out the blurry text, but where is the online crossword. Please restore and put the link to it in an obvious location in the menu!!!!
Irish News
Irish News online provides me with news of home and abroad while living in Wales
Can’t read
Subscription through
New app
It’s not good. Have a page of white when I opened on my phone and when I enlarge the page it is blurred. Follow the old adage, If it’s not broke don’t fix it. John Moore PS: I may cancel my subscription
Bring back the old!
Sometimes, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it, is good advice. Your new look app is seriously crap, glitchy , difficult to use. Honestly considering ending my subscription.
Please sort out the blurry text on the update
Inconsistent. Some pages blur, others pin sharp
Dreadful
This new app causing great difficult across my devices. Always asking to sign in in one of them Not renewing subscription. I have requested a refund twice Deirdre mckeown
Poor value for money
Too many stories are blocked + require a subscription representing poor value for money.
First class
100 times better than the previous version!! This does not crash, freeze, refuse to load, show blank pages etc all of which plagued the previous versions. Thankfully (2 years too late) they have fixed the issues.....so far!
Irish news
Locked out of subscription since app update
Repeated Issues with Downloading
No idea why, but I’ve had repeated issues with issues not appearing first thing in the morning. This never happened under the old app but now happens weekly. Today for example only edition available is the 19th, can’t access 20th Jan edition.
No access on new app
I can no longer access the on line paper
New App is rubbish
This version is a significant step backwards. The ability to navigate the pages is greatly diminished. Also, access to recent editions seems to have been removed. I’m due to renew my subscription in January - I’m seriously considering not doing so! Poorly thought out ‘upgrade’ in my opinion.
IN
I very much like the new format.
New platform
The old format to read online was much better
Atrocious new App
Why don’t you inform clients ??? No support on phone or online. Please send a refund for my years subscription
New app
Do not like!!!
Rita
I Love the Irish News — my family have read it for a lifetime. Thank you for keeping us up to date with both the local & world news.
‘Upgrade’ naw!
Great newspaper, this me app? Not good.
Review
Can’t access paper
Bring back the old app!
New app a backward step! Reading a photo/picture of paper edition!! Page does not ‘fit’ iPhone screen Text sizing function does not work
Would Subscribe if online was better
Would happily pay a subscription to get local news, however the online app is probably one of the worst news apps out there. Allowing you to see print papers on a digital screen is a slightly dated approach. (especially when the app doesn’t take advantage of the screen sizes of the modern phones). I want articles & notifications! Might be better to take a similar approach to the website. Overall the app needs a redesign- is anyone out there actually using this app?
Irish News
My app stopped working and required reloading. Seem to have lost feature off line issues. This is terrible
