A friend recommended Roadtrippers for my two-month, 7,600-mile cross-country RV trip—and it delivered. Visually mapping my stops gave me a clear picture of my route, while saved trips made it effortless to hop back in and tailor my daily mileage. Finding campgrounds and reading reviews in-app was a total game-changer for booking nightly stays, and seamless integration with Google and Apple Maps made navigation smooth. Don't plan a long-haul adventure without it.
Mostly useless
Over priced and really does nothing you cant just do by googling
Correct place names
I chose this map app over others because the gulf is still the Gulf of Mexico. The downside is if I just want to look at the map it keeps trying to get me to plan a trip!
No free option
In app purchase in this case just means pay app as there is not a single thing you can do w/o paying.
Not as good as before
I don’t know if the app had an update or what but it won’t route us over the Bay Bridge tunnel this time and we have gone across it before. Kinda makes me not trust the app anymore. Time to look for a new planner
My go to travel planning app
I enjoy using Roadtrippers to plan my travel because it’s very good at pointing out all the roadside Americana and quirky places to stop!
Free trial doesn’t give you all premium perks
Free trial is only if you sign up for the premium annual membership and you still don’t get all the perks associated with that level. Classic bait and switch. Hope the app is better than the introductory offer.
Love this planner!
Love this app. So easy to plan and organize your trip. Really cool to be able to plan your trip around your cell phone provider coverage. A few things I wish it had was the ability to add notes to each day or name the days. Also it would be helpful if the route had separate colors for the different days/sections.
Great Concept Poor Execution
I find this app to be extremely hard to navigate. Once a trip is selected it is impossible to make changes. I paid for subscription, I will not be renewing.
Reviews are old
The maps are easy to navigate but, and I see this at Allstays as well, new reviews are not being captured. Most I see are in the 2000 teens.
Pretty impressed
After testing a few options from the App Store I ended up using Roadtrippers to plan my journey from CA to MA. Navigation was a breeze. I made several on the fly changes to my plan and found it easy to keep myself on track with my timeline. It helped make the trek manageable and it was great to be able to visualize the journey along the way. I especially enjoyed the maps integration and attractions suggestions. I recommend diving in by adding your destination, any must do stops along the way, and then feathering in some app suggestions as your timeline allows. I will use this app for my trip back, and I’ll definitely tell my friends about it.

I love this for planning and mapping out my trips!
I love this app for planning and mapping out an overall route. It’s very flexible and easy to change things around. I would have given it 5 stars except for a few glitches. I find that not everything is in the app so I do check other apps for sightseeing and camping. I also find that a lot of the links to other sites don’t work but I can usually google what I’m looking for and find it.
Outdated
I find this app very outdated. Most reviews on places to camp are 5 years old or even older. Also I can not add all my waypoints that I have marked on google maps, it says “not found”. I don’t believe Roadtrippers to be accurate. That’s a game changer for me. Not to mention the price!
Roadtrip
Love this app! But why force me into an upgrade to premium when pro level gives what I need! Won’t let me open my saved trips without an upgrade. How unfair!!
Helpful Trip planner
This app is very helpful in finding gas stations and rest areas along the way. This app also is very helpful to find roadside attractions that are close to your route. I also like the feature that helped you find hotels or bed-and-breakfast that are along the route as well
It much here
I’ve tried this now for two road trips, one from Virginia to Missouri via North Carolina and Tennessee and Other from Virginia to New Jersey. Not many options provided. A quick Google search gave me much much better options. Don’t waste your money.
Pretty good travel mapping
We enjoy planning with Roadtrippers it has quite a few options to add stops on a route. There are a few things I wish it could do. 1. Access Harvest Host locations 2. Allow for mixed route mapping i.e, some highway some off highway. Using US highways and interstate choices while adding stops. 3. The original version allowed adding multiple location types, like places to camp and restaurants all in the same search. That was great. I would like to see that again Other than that I use it constantly and deal with the items I can’t pick by finding those items in other apps and adding the stop as an address.
Good till it froze
The app froze so I had to delete and reinstall and all planning is lost. Screw it. Subscribed for one week free trial and it charged me for the first month anyways. Now have to get a refund. Well use paper map.
Good app
The app is good by I found it expensive for what it does. I paid for 1 year but will not renew.
First time campers
Road tripper made our 12 day multi- stop trip so much easier. Open my app & off to the next location! Easy peesey even for a 1st timer!
Long Vacation
I was a little disappointed in this app. There were some really amazing places that the app didn’t mention that we almost missed. It gave routes around scenic routes even when we selected that option. It did not give work when well on the road either. Not very happy nor recommend the app.
The best road trip planning app
I would give five stars but I am Canadian and I wish I could change the currency to Canadian dollars. So I know what the estimated cost would be without having to do the conversion myself! Whenever that comes, I’ll change it to a 5 star!! Everything else is amazing and it has helped me plan many cross country road trips!
Locked up all my old trips
Loved this app, used it for years then they decided to lock down the amount of “free way points” you could have on a trip. Ok fine, we adjusted. Now all our old trips we had kept for memories are locked down so we can’t even look at them anymore without paying. Trash

First timer
Hard to navigate when first starting out.
Ok app, limited functionality and needs a lot of updating
This app hasn’t changed much over the years, and it’s getting further and further behind. A lot of destinations can’t be found, you can’t add them yourself, the app is limited when you want to see distances between points in the app when previewing your route - but on a computer you can. Even though a web browser will let you see the distances between points on your route, if you’re on a mobile device you can’t use your web browser to view your trips because it insists you use the app only. All in all it’s relatively limited in functionality and restrictive, but as a basic mapping tool it’s just “ok”.
Excellent app
I was A little Leary about the app. While I’m still learning the basics, the app has exceeded my expectations. Anyone planning on doing some traveling should purchase this app. You will not be disappointed.
Scam
Forces you to buy a plan AFTER typing in the whole trip. Sure, it offers you a 7 day trail but this is just a bait.

Ok
Good, app for planning a trip through the USA but lacking for Canada.
Very limited in Australia.
Most outback towns and even larger cities in NSW and I assume other states can’t be selected. Not really usable in Australia for a road trip, unless you are tripping between the few main cities provided.
Great Trip Planner
I have used Roadtrippers to plan three major trips. It is easy to use and easy to modify. Two things I wish they would change: 1) being able to change dates without having to delete all dates and starting dates over 2) showing low clearance bridges on routes for those with RV’s. Overall, I really like this app. I have shared this app with several friends and family.
Watch out for the discount bait and switch
I received an email for 50% off on the app and went through all the steps to create and account and purchase at 50% off. The app showed that I would pay half of the regular cost but I was actually charged full price.

App keeps pointing to US destinations and attractions. Not a very good app for Canadians. Wish I hadn’t bought it
A trip planner that can’t search for cities
Got the Plus version... trying to do trip planning in Australia and this app does not show cities in the search results... search for Canberra, it’s only the capital of Australia... but it does not warrant being shown in the search... makes it pretty ordinary as a “Trip Planner”...
Nothing else like it
Still the best app to find really cool stuff along your route. I’ve seen a lot of updates recently, too, awesome that more keeps getting poured into it
Big let down
Got this because Apple and Google couldn’t handle all the stops I had planned. Then I find out after downloading it that you have to pay $5 per month to add more than one stop to your trip. What a joke.
Great app for planning
Loving this! Makes it easy to plan where to stop on a long trip (especially like the ability to say how far off route I want to go). The only thing missing is landscape mode on the iPad.
Not great for Canada trips
Tried to create a simple trip in western Canada but the app search failed to find locations, instead bringing up USA locations. Frustrated so deleted the app.
60 second eval
After selecting a starting point, and searching for the next point, the suggestions are not location dependent, instead of looking up something sensible like location names which are physically closer it is alphabetical. It would take way too long to use this app for a planner, a spreadsheet is better.
Roadtrippers Premium
After using another major app, we went back to Roadtrippers and upgraded to Premium. Absolutely loving the premium features. Highly recommend.
Terrible Application / SPAM Generator
It's a terrible application. He suggest things that are hundreds of miles away from the route that's put in. It makes matters worse than evidently sell your information to generate a bunch of spam. Including their own and the unsubscribe button does not work
Not bad but could be better
It’s cool to be able to map a trip. But is seems a needless duplication to date and also to manually sort entries. Entries should can be sorted by date and time. Trips are made up of geocoded entires linked to addresses as well as non geocoded notes and place holders and reminders. This stuff is easy to incorporate and important. Overall a good app but some low hanging fruit is still on the tree.
It used to be great
I’ve been using and recommending this app for years but after they created the subscription, It became pretty hard (annoying) to use. You can’t see more than one category in the map (like attractions and outdoors) so you gotta keep changing categories. Also, it’s doesn’t show rest atos anymore. I understand you gotta make money and I would pay the monthly price for the road trip usage but the app doesn’t show that option, it just shows annual? I’m not gonna pay $40/year when I have one road trip to use. $19 is fair but not $40!
Great if u have full mobile service otherwise.....
Even with downloading all wa maps for offline, it is absolutely useless without internet connection. Even when full internet service available it gets stuck on last location and can’t identify you have driven 200km
