What people like
- Helps you discover local breweries and food
- Great way to meet friendly hosts
- Saves time and money on trips
- Better than sleeping in Walmart lots
What they complain about
- Hard to cancel membership or find support
- App crashes and bugs out often
- Hosts charge high prices for simple parking
- Search bar frequently stops working properly
Very handy alternative
We haven’t used Harvest Host much, but have had good experiences when we do stay. It’s a great way to fill in holes in our itinerary. Every place and host has been welcoming and accommodating. No more Walmart parking lots for us!
AI only support is a joke
There is no actual way to get a real person on the help chat when things go wrong. There is not a phone number for support. It will charge you for a membership that you have NO way to cancel. This app is a scam!!!
Good value for golf tourism
My husband and I like to take golf trips, where we stay for a night or two and golf. Harvest Hosts has been great for this for areas where there are no nearby state parks, which are always our preference. Would love to see more golf courses sign up to host, but we can generally find a host within a 20 min drive. Have only had one site that was not really appropriate for a camper. Most hosts and sites are great.
Booking with Hosts
Not an easy task and not many take 40, rig with tow behind. Was not able to use when traveling from South Carolina to North Carolina
Manque de harvest host
Il n’y a pas assez de harvest host au nord du Canada
Great stay
Only stay here if you like fun hosts, great distilled spirits/beer, good food and live music.
Slam renewal
No warning for 179$ app I have never found a use for.
First request
So far so good.
High Prices, No amenities
This was a great idea at first, but now has turned into costly option. I understand the first night is free and that extended nights are a bonus. But, at this point a lot of the Hosts are now charging the same rates as RV parks. Some of these Hosts are charging upwards of $50 a night, for a simple parking spot. No electrical, no water and no dumping options. The whole idea was to help a local business, by them letting you stay a day or two and you help the business by purchasing goods. Harvest Hosts is just enabling the Hosts to now charge high prices for a glorified parking spot. It’s unfortunate that this has gotten out of control.
New Member - App has a lot to be desired
I cannot get the search bar to work. I can use the map to find locations, but when I search areas that I know have HH locations because I saw them on the map…nothing comes up. It keeps saying that I need to change the features I had tagged. So I unchecked everything and it still won’t work. Frustrating to say the least. Maybe it works better on the computer? But hey guess what? I won’t be using that on the road.
My go to
When all else fails Harvest Host has come through for me. We love staying at all the different locations and touring through them. Would highly recommend Harvest Host to all my camping friends!
Unsubscription extremely complicated
After two years as a member of this Harvest Host, we wanted to take a break of traveling for a year. The administrators made the unsubscription process so complicated that I had to ask the AI how to do it. And to be honest, I much prefer other apps that do the job better.
State
It’s nice place and very well appointed pitches.
Great program but app needs work
App can get quite buggy. Sender and recipient names get mixed up in messaging. Autocorrect doesn't work, and completely resets each time it's minimized. Hope these can get fixed.
No translate
C est dommage qu'il n y a pas l'option traduction , tous les sites l'ont comme iOverlander, Park 4 nights etc ..
Harvest Hosts is a Blessing
Every stay has been a joy and frequently saved us time and money on our journeys.
Not useable
We have a Ford F150 with a small toy hauler. We are having trouble finding a place that will take a total length of over 25 ft. This needs to be said up front before we purchase a membership. This is also not useable for traveling cross country and making reservations as you go. We are having trouble finding places that accept same day reservations, and there is no way to contact a host: no email, phone number, or chatting capability is offered in this app. This membership was a waste of our money.
Great idea and great hosts. Application still need bug fixes
We use them a lot and have many fine memories of hosts and places. The app itself is a bit flakey, messages and reviews just disappear often, but it well worth the subscription fee for any avid RVer.
Nice concept but…
It’s a great idea but execution doesn’t work. Most hosts we are trying to book with over the summer are not accepting bookings. So for this reason for us, Harvest Host doesn’t bring value.
The result is good the app is not great
The intention of the app is very good. However I find it slow, glitchy and you can’t always do things in the app like cancel a stay midway thru. The dump site component is sort of ok. Would be nice if there was info as to what service is provide and what the cost is. Also find it frustrating it doesn’t capitalize letters automatically, consistently. Plus it can kick you out in the middle of a message or review and you have to start again
Great help traveling
I’ve used HH for about 4 years now. Very helpful finding nice places to stay for a night or two while roadtripping. I’ve met some great hosts and visited restaurants and breweries that I would have otherwise missed.
Poor customer service
Today has been incredibly frustrating dealing with this company. My credit card would not process on their website, so I contacted customer service. Their chat support does not even respond, and after finally getting an email response, I was told to reset my payment information and switch to Apple Pay. I followed the instructions exactly and was then told the issue had been fixed, but my account still has not been updated and I still cannot renew my subscription. For a company handling subscriptions and payments, I expected far better customer service and communication. Based on my experience today, I would not expect solid customer service from this company.
Error
All in all it’s great except we have a hard time posting reviews: an error occurred!!!!
Always full
Reservations always full!! I paid for full everywhere!!
Worth it
We have been using HH for a little over a year and have enjoyed all the people we have met. I would highly recommend this app if you are a full timer.
Not working
Since the latest iOS update, the app on my phone no longer works.
Issues
The app will not let me book on my iPhone, can search on my phone but can only book on the computer
Can’t see locations without paying
I like the idea, however I would need to see what kind of places you offer before I pay a minimum of $135. Please allow people to view locations for free so we can judge whether we feel it’s worth joining.
Love love love
Some of my fondest memories are due to Harvest Host.
App keeps crashing
This review is solely based on current update. Love Harvest Hosts but app keeps crashing when I access the map, making it impossible to book a trip. Please fix and I will update my review! I’m on iOS and same thing with both iPhone and iPad versions of the app.
App crashes
App keeps crashing when trying to search. It goes into an error then forces a restart. Other than that, I love Harvest Hosts. Please fix it!
Confusing rig length!
Why not make it clear? 18-26ft, 27-35ft etc. A small 20 ft rig is ‘up to 45ft’.
Always good for quick stop
Love stays were is beverages and food
Can not cancel profile
I installed the applicatio without buying a membership. The app does not allow you to cancel your profile. Your mail is use for marketing even if notification are off.
App is difficult
My iPhone11 has difficulty formatting this app. Can be confusing . Did not have this difficulty with Boondocker app. Wondering if this can be fixed.
First Use of Membership
Using Harvest host is new to us snd seems like a user friendly app so far
Canadian’ Beware!!
This company uses “negative billing” practice for auto renewals!! This is illegal in Canada. They also store your credit card info to be used for their auto renewals! This app does NOT allow you to cancel, nor does it allow you to remove/change private credit card info. What person in the RV community travels with a computer to access a full version of the Harvest Host website? I don’t! I use an iPhone when I’m traveling. HH needs to do better for the RV community and they need to add the cancel membership and modify payment options functionality to their app. Hiding behind “terms and conditions” argument is weak. Do better HH
Great App for Travelers
Thank you hosts for helping travelers!
Complete scam! Con artists.
Harvest Hosts will continue to charge you fees through affiliate companies like Campers Card - even though your membership with Harvest Hosts is cancelled. In my case they were able to put a charge through an expired credit card. This is their business model and it’s very scammy. Be very careful. If you sign up, you will need to cancel every membership at their affiliate companies that they automatically sign you up for - even though you may not even know who these affiliates are. Your credit card company may not help since these other companies are affiliated with a company you e had previous business with. Never again for me.
