Used for the first time.
Paid for a spot it didn’t say any where that I read that you don’t get the address once you pay. No response from host so now we don’t have a place to stay. They won’t refund even though I had just paid. What a rip off.
Good app
Not bad, this is a good app to search for private campgrounds. The only issue I've had was in modifying my reservation I was charged as if I was booking the site again. My host said there should not have been a modification charge. I called customer service and opened a support ticket but I have not yet had time to follow up on it.
Good idea
Their darn messaging never works. I’ve redownloaded, updated, logged in and out on multiple occasions but you need to be able to communicate with hosts. Very frustrating

Ball Bay View RV Park
I had a wonderful stay. I was greeted upon arrival and given a whole area to select from to park my rig. I even met some of the neighbors Down at the beach and they were very nice as well. I will definitely go back on my next trip through.

Great App - Big Fee
So glad to find this app, will definitely use it from now on, but boy are the service fees steep. Ex: $217 booking has a $27 fee to book and it’s not refundable. I will note that the app is smooth and easy to navigate and looks pretty clean. Would like to see some improvements to the UI, maybe add some personalization settings to justify the steep fee but overall I am happy with it.
OK - but *can’t* save map options
You can find hipcamps ok. But adding map layers for dark sky, dump sites, etc, there’s *no way* to save what you want displayed and return to the map screen / home. FIX THIS!!
Great layout, some glitches
Takes several attempts to upload photos. On most of the features when you’re editing, to exit I need to shut down the app. The save button should close a window, but you have to cancel instead. Just some kinks that need to be ironed out.

One never knows what to expect of a place one has never stayed at. Especially, when traveling with novice campers. However, this place is magical. From the plethora of orchards, to the rolling hills, to the quiet & serenity this place provides. It could not have provided a better sanctuary for my crew. The sky, with its sky divers in the daytime to the night sky at night, also gifted us with the best show. Mesmerizing! And let’s not forget the host! Warm with a beautiful heart. Thank you for opening up your place to us! 5⭐️+
Full camp
Beware if you are trusting this app with confirmation or you will end like myself and a 6 year old going to a camp site and just to find out they are full and the app send a lot of request even if they are booked. No hard filling for the staff at the camp but the app shoot guarantee confirmation before accepting a full payment
Awesome but the app isn’t the best.
Really love Hipcamp so far but the app lags so bad, doesn’t work half the time, and could really use an update! Again, love the service just not a fan of the app

Chaotic and not clear
The app is very chaotic and is not 100% clear on what each place has to offer as far as toilets and showers it’s not important for me but for my wife and kids it’s very important also the camps have different names on this app as to what Google maps and internet has for some not all
Double D Orchards
We had a short stay here and Dirk was a very generous host. Easy to communicate with, the property had great amenities- clean toilet, sink and shower. Large communal fire pit and social area. We were not there long enough to enjoy it but will definitely reserve it again. The location is walking distance to some wineries and biking distance to all the rest. A bag of peaches upon our arrival was a beautiful gesture.
Shady
“Free cancellation” should mean entirely free cancellation, and not “minus hipcamp fees” (which you will only see in fine print, and not be prompted with when you book and cancel). Have had too many overpriced campsites with hipcamp that are more like refugee camps -packed tightly to other sites, overgrown with poison ivy, or promising solitude and serenity with photos of off-property features that are presented as though they are on property.
Awesome spot, Husband and I enjoyed it very much.
This was one of our most pleasant visits. This sites were beautiful. Not much shade but the water makes up for that. It was very quiet. That was probably because it was about 99 degrees. We made our own shade. We also chose the spot that had a big tree. It was great. Easy access to the water. The road is a big bumpy, to be expected. Bring your bug spray you’re going to definitely need it. Many, many, many, many gnats. You can hear them buzzing. I would have given it 5 starts if it wasn’t for all the gnats, but hey you are camping.♥️
Was great. Now, not so much.
I am finding the search function to be getting as frustrating as Google’s where they put up what they want you to see and it can be the other side of the State. Also ‘Book a site’ doesn’t let you choose the particular site like it used to. It was a site that I was quite happy to explore and transact. Now it seems to be all about the transaction!
Auto-refresh is terrible
Any search that results in extensive scrolling through the option presented becomes painful as the app refreshes the feed. There appears to be no way to turn this off. Dear product owners: this isn’t a social media app where you’re pushing random garbage to doomscrollers. Sites aren’t updating their information that quickly - provide a clear option to turn off auto-refresh. Otherwise this is a solid app, at least the information part.
Great variety of campsites!
I’ve only just started camping in my car. So far, I’ve found this app to be the most helpful in finding fun and different campsites!
Over priced
Every campsite is over priced and over crowded. Better off just finding a nice backcountry camp site.
Great app, aside from one missing feature!
The ability to collaborate with other hipcampers on a saved list to plan a trip together would be absolutely fantastic and bump this up to a 5-star app!
Good depending…
It is very good for finding campsites and at varied prices. But the app frequently glitches and randomly turns off. Once the bugs and glitches are fixed it would be a much better app. A satellite view when looking on the map as well as adding a direction function or at least estimated distance/travel time option to see how far the drive is, would be a nice added feature.

Stay away
Not a great company ! Didn’t travel because of smoke and was told by Canadian officials NOT to travel and zero refund was given even though I cancelled three days before trip! Stay away!!!!
Update the app
Great but the app needs a sleek update to make it iPad compatible. Just like WikiCamps
Barely ok
There’s not enough camp sites in Australia. Most of them are in very hard to reach locations that are not hiker friendly. As well, the map on HipCamp is very difficult to look at which makes it hard to understand where a campsite actually is – map lacks detail.

Beautiful camp area !
Beautiful campsite with view of Puget Sound. Kate has a welcoming area with all the hookups and a nice cozy firepit and chairs for relaxing after hiking! Sitting under the pergola watching the boats go by was exactly what we needed after a busy day. I highly recommend The Porch!
Bad search
The app searches the wrong website for Idaho state parks so none of those work. You need to change the searched site for those. Idaho no longer uses reserveamerica.com.
Camping in the cool
This is the second trip to this magnificent spot. Murray is a great host who leaves you all the space you want and allows you to explore the property. We wanted to escape the great heat and when we arrived to the site, on came the jackets. Beautiful and green and full of trees and shade. There are walks you can do from camp,but of course there are plenty of drive and day hikes around the Granite belt. All up, thoroughly recommended!
Service fee ludicrous.
Buyer beware that HipCamp adds 25% to every campsite booking. I will definitely be avoiding using this service unless in dire need of a campsite.

The app is great to find places but shows many places that out of state from where I'm looking. I have little luck pulling up places I'm looking for.

I’ve been using this app for about 2 years now and it has helped a lot. I ove going out and around 12pm or 1pm I’m always looking for a spot before 7 or 9pm to have a spot for the day. I always find them about 3-4hours away from where Iam. It has worked out every time

Lovely property not so great bathrooms
Lovely large campsites among the orange orchards and amazing walk down to the properties waterfall. Lovely large campsites among the orange orchards and amazing walk down to the properties waterfall. Great sites for camp fires, dogs, kids to play cricket and collect oranges. Though unfortunately the bathroom facilities were a disappointment. We were told on arrival not to use one group of toilets close to our sites as they had been used hard over the long weekend and would not be cleaned/emptied for another 3 days so to “avoid”. There was however another 2 toilets and showers a short walk away. Though they were quite messy. When reported we were told that they only get cleaned once a week. I had to clean the toilet myself to make it hygienic for my children to use. We did avoid the shower during our stay as it was not clean enough to use.
