- Great tool for long distance trip planning
What they complain about
- Very difficult to navigate this app
- Sent us down unsafe or sketchy roads
- Trip planning requires using a website instead
- Missing live traffic data and alerts
Overall excellent
This tool is so helpful!
EXTREMELY DIFFICULT APP
This app is extremely difficult to use. There are far too many menus, buttons, and options, and very little is explained clearly enough to help you plan something as simple as a weekend getaway. Instead of making trip planning easier, it becomes frustrating and confusing. To make matters worse, the app costs $65 per year, which is significantly more expensive than many competing apps that offer a better user experience and far more features. Overall, this app is not worth the money or the time. I would not recommend it.
Camp in Custer
Nomad Van Camp and RV Campground
Trip Wizard
I used to love this app. Now you have made so many changes, Tip Wizard is impossible to find. Without that feature Iwill most likely not renew. This app is average at best without Trip Wizard.
The Voice
The voice guidance needs to be changed drastically. Also planning trip should be easier as I find it hard to select where you’re going from and where you’re going to.
Feeling safe
I know I can drive without worrying getting myself in a pickle!
Must buy upfront
Wont allow trial before forcing you to subscribe. I’m not committing that amount and the likelihood I’d forget halfway thru my vacation if it didn’t do what I hoped it would after a short 7 day trial.
Very useful tool
I like this tool a lot. I plan fairly long distance trips in the US and Canada and it is very helpful. I was not at all happy with the newest update. I have to go back to the website rather than use the app now to view my trips the way I used to. You guys need to change it back. Also, there could be a larger campground selection. I find I have to use other means to find a campground I want in a particular area.
Lower your expectations w/this app.
Your app is clunky and out of date info. I have driven to selected locations just find route with extremely difficult obstacles to navigate and not up to date info. Parks are not as advertised on this app. They are also not updated.
Hmmm
Relied on this app to navigate for us on a month long trip to Nova Scotia a couple years ago. This year, back in Nova Scotia and needing to go on a detour in the dark, the app sent us down a dirt road that was not really a road, but something called a “goat path,” that turned into a single lane and ended up…nowhere. We had to call the RCMP, and then the officer who showed up had to call the fire department, just to get us off this road. It took a whole team! Finally, loopy at after 2am after being stuck for three hours, we drove out in a ridiculous parade of trucks and people up way past their bedtimes. Moral of the story is: the app is not infallible. If a road looks sketchy, don’t go down it just because the app says to.
Travel Information
We enjoy using RV Life/Trip Wizard. I shows us RV Friendly routes. You can send information to them about the route. It factors in the height and length of your rig. You can also choose other options to use or avoid. The Reviews have greatly helped to choose campgrounds or areas. It’s easy to use, on the most part. They are always improving.
Not User Friendly
I’m not liking this app
Mostly good
I love this app for the most part. Great features, pretty accurate. But in Trips when you tap on park info and it tells you the park no longer exists, y’all need to do something about that it’s annoying. Because the Park definitely exists.
So difficult to use
Confusing, not at all intuitive, so difficult to use that it is basically useless
Trusted Reviews?
Not really useful. Map is cumbersome and I end up switching back to Google or Apple Maps after checking that my route is safe for my size camper. Reviews are not trustworthy! How my fellow campers are rating some of the awful camps we stayed at based on reviews in RV Life has been seriously disappointing.
Super useful app.
Really useful information to ensure you have a great RV trip.
Does nothing that Google Maps doesn’t do
I’m not impressed
Could be Better
The App is great for navigation but I would like to be able to zoom in and out when using CarPlay. I would also like to be able see gas stations/rest areas/grocery stores as examples, prior to driving past them. I like the planning part of the program. It is a little pricey for what you get. I feel the price point should be around $25 a year or a one time payment of $100.
Not happy
Could be a lot better! I am canceling the subscription- I can’t add campgrounds to the gps or it’s too confusing to do so - so many improvements could be made to this site for RV’ers
somewhat useful
Good: obstacle clearances, rough road avoidance, travel times at your average speed, populating an area with selected styles of camps (somewhat accurate) Not Good: not simple at all. Bad: quick switch to find next stop, showing map route after selecting "next" overnight, Intuitive procedure is non existent, assistance with sight-seeing, unable to re-route when road is temporarily blocked,
Highly recommended
Campground reviews are very helpful. Trip Wizard is excellent resource for trip planning.
Very difficult!
Not easy to use.
Like the app except for no Sani Dump locations
So far I have found the app very easy to use as the list of campsites in Canada very comprehensive (travelling from Ottawa to the Yukon) . Had to purchase another app to find the RV dumping facilities however and the mapping charge to upgrade the membership is excessive for the value.
Not impressed
Certain things do not work in the mobile app contents you to use the web version. The ability to create a trip with multiple stops then finds good even parks or overnights is cumbersome. I’ll be looking for an alternative app.
Changes
RV Life has taken a beautiful easy to use tool and complicated it with changes so that now I am sitting at a truck stop in rural SD trying to figure out how to use their “new and improved “ app. What once took 5 minutes has now had me tied in knots for 2 days.. Been using this app since 2021 for thousands of miles .
Terrible
Hard to use it’s worthless
Not user friendly.
Too difficult to use. Not user friendly.
Sprout lake
Provincial park. Easy hiking, swimming, boating, showers. Great attendants very helpful they know the area. Stayed in June. Rained often. Liked every minute. Visited again in Early September dry & warm
Tough to use the app
RV LIFE - trip planning is very difficult to adjust your routes. Takes WAY to long to chart your trips.
Works good till it doesn’t.
Go over your route before you leave. Twice now it’s done goofy stuff. Took me through downtown Amarillo and last week took us on 20 miles of dirt road.
Depends
Have had this app for going on 3 yrs. now. Quite satisfied with the reviews and descriptions are spot on
Cheated me out of 4 free trial days
I ordered on 8/17/26 a 7 day free trial but they charged my account on 8/20! It wasn’t supposed to be charged until 8/24! They cheat and rip you off out of 4 days on the free offer. Don’t buy unless you decided to pay for it already.
Frustrated
I have used RV Life for about 15,000 miles. Frustrated that some addresses are not available. Shows me driving across fields. And today sent me 3 miles past my turn to have me on 5 miles of a one lane unpaved road over bridges that didn’t even have side rails. Had I followed Google it would have been 7 miles shorter all paved!
No KMs
Disappointing app. Even though I set the units to KMs, the app still displayed everything in miles. Several campgrounds were out of date because they are closed permanently or the name changed. Not worth paying for.
Recommends to newbies
After traveling for 10+ years, I always recommend RV life and RV Wizard for newbies for a quick functional experience.
App
Can’t get help
Steered wrong twice now
We are in a trip on the west coast. Twice now it has gotten us into a pickle. Once it took us to a dead end road and we had to unhook our jeep to get out of it. Yesterday was almost as bad. We had to drive through a lumber yard to get out of it. Not happy.
Good app - needs some improvement
Fir the most part, the app has been reliable. It did navigate me down an unsafe road once or twice. It would be nice to have live traffic with traffic alerts. I find I need to still have Google maps or Apple Maps up when using RV Life to see traffic, upcoming congestion, hazards and safety information. Please update to add traffic.
New b
Like the rv safe route. The fact that you can input details of your rig and the system gives you campgrounds that can handle your rig. We took for granted with our old trailer we could put 30’ anywhere. Now we are 56-58’ total and it’s a game changer. Can’t just go anywhere anymore. This app has almost cured the nerves of all the research having to do before, you still need to do the research. Finally I wised up and downloaded and joined RV Life Pro. First time user will be headed from East coast to West coast with our new camper we have only camped in Georgia and Alabama so far but here we go…. Thank you Jesus 🙏🏻
App not ready for prime PAID use
This app would be ok back in 2000s, but 25 years later one would expect more, especially for paid service. Here is a list of features all other FREE GPS apps have. Live traffic data updates with option to seek alternative routes. Option to seek POI while road guidance is active. While in active GPS route, no option to zoom in or out (other than pinch) or set zoom, no potion to rotate map north or drive north. Route feedback is limited to only few obstacles. Once route is active, no option to switch to other menus. Creating trips requires separate web based site and is counter intuitive it makes you wanna cry. Once you create trips, editing starting point or adding POI isn’t available. Mobile internet site will not access GPS to select starting point for the trip. The list of missing basic GPS navigation tools is so long that they should pay me to use it instead. So safe your money and find something else. To the developers, I have low expectations of you reading it and implementing the missing features as it would require you to rewrite this app from the beginning. Instead you pray on suckers like me to subscribe (for a one month).
Map doesn’t work for planning
Can only use with pc
Prices
I find it very time consuming to not have prices listed for the parks. Prices have risen considerably in the last year and therefore it has become more of an issue when looking for sites. And your rating system of dollar signs…. Does 4 dollar signs mean it is a good price(like 4 stars)? Or does the more dollar signs mean more money?? I would suggest you post the daily, weekly, and monthly rate for the park, or at least have a dedicated review Box where reviewers can record the price they paid. Would save lots of time.
From Louisiana to the Grand Canyon and back…RV Life worked like a charm.
RV Life helped me find the best campgrounds and mapped my route out perfectly. Wouldn’t travel without it.
Joydan
Very difficult to navigate this app.
changes
changes are not always good. i was pretty proficient last season now i can’t find anything on the way to route or setup and plan my trips
