Ecobee app updates Aug 2026
I have installed 14 Ecobee thermostat models for friends and family since launch in 2014. In my view Ecobee thermostats still have the best Pro features for home heating and AC operation, and have proved reliable. About 2 years ago a nicely featured "Reports" section appeared on iOS and iPadOS. Sadly it graphed the thermostat's internal temperature sensor, not the display temperature that the thermostat is working to. The display and control uses the user defined participation of internal and remote sensors. This was the brilliant unique feature that made Ecobee such a success. Luckily the iPad app still has the original correct graph plot which also shows every sensors temperature as well as its "occupancy" status. The good news is the recent app update Aug 2026 has corrected the two year temperature graph error in “Reports” which is much appreciated. The free "Beestat" app (enthusiast donation supported) shows high quality Ecobee graphs including every remote sensor and the very useful "occupancy" status of thermostats and remote sensors.

Great but should allow multiroom integration.
Would be a 5 star if they allow Multi room (music) integration. Strange not to be able to sync with other speakers in the house as a support.
Unresponsive and clunky
For a smart thermostat, this is quite a dumb application. It takes a few seconds to get the temperature and status of the thermostat, even though it's on the same network. Sometimes you change the target temperature and the update arrives slightly later, breaking your change. The thermostat itself is pretty but it doesn't account for weather as smartly as I expected. The sensors are proprietary and don't interact with hue or others, just because the company is greedy. I don't know if I'd pick this brand again next time!

Nice work, a few improvements required
This device and app is really good works exactly as it should. One bug I’ve noticed is in setting the schedule, adding a new entry can easily cause it to delete the schedules on every other day which is annoying. It takes some fiddling to get it right. It would also be very handy to have an ‘off’ setting in the schedule which basically switches the entire system off at a certain time.
Schedule not working!
The new update doesn’t allow you to change the schedule via this app - it comes up with an error and won’t save the changes. I would also like to think there would be individualised fan auto planning which can be determined by the particular comfort setting.

What is the point of the app if it doesn’t support Australia!!!
Buggy
The app on both the iPhone and Apple Watch can be buggy. It’s hard to rely on them. Even vacation mode didn’t work—the ecobee followed the usual schedule. And the Apple Watch app is limited—comfort settings and quick changes are not available to select.
This App Is Unstable Crap
The Ecobee App was excellent when I first installed my Thermostats approx 4/5 years ago. It is now the most unstable unresponsive heap of crap ever. When it seems like things have settled down a bit, it is updated by some idiot and becomes almost unusable again. Ecobee are constantly ‘fiddling’ making a bad thing even worse. Sort it out and leave it alone!!

Widget no longer displays temperatures - surely the most critical information for a thermostat! Just tells me subscription required.
Smart thermostats don’t connect
Their support replies come after days and are mostly unhelpful. You report issues and are told that’s how it works. They don’t take feedback and have their own way of thinking it seems. It may work for a certain number of countries but their presets and settings are unhelpful in a desert country. Their smart thermostats also don’t connect. I’ve tried over and over multiple times but the app refuses to find them even though the main thermostat says a thermostat is trying to connect and I should follow steps on the phone. Why not just add the ability directly to the thermostat instead!?

Whatever the update was, it doesn’t work... And honestly I have seen easier automation setup processes Once things are in place great but till then it’s a little painful

App takes forever to startup. And you can’t control the temperature with the widget.
My Mistake I bought this device
The app lacking a lot and the fun turned on auto even if you set as “on” Most of the time if you are out of home you will not able to control AC remotely Currently the app not able to connect with thermostat at all It was waste of many, time and peace of mind
