Not a regret!
Quite frankly I wonder why I hadn’t bought this earlier. Not a problem since I bought this in October last year!
Not a great experience so far
Batteries keep dying every few weeks and will not stay connected to WiFi for programming in the lock from another location.
Lock setup process glitchy
I have 4 Schlage smart locks on a 2.4Hz network. Setup was straightforward, but app froze/spun as each lock and network connection was made, never confirming the connection. The locks did show up and functioned fine after restarting the app - and the app itself works great
Painful setup
This has been one of the hardest lock products I’ve ever had to install. It’s taking me multiple reset and while I finally have the lock working over Bluetooth, it will not connect to Wi-Fi. I have confirmed and tried multiple Wi-Fi points. All validated that work on other devices and yet it time out after about two minutes and just says retry over. Not a great first experience with this lock.
Face ID required
I think the lock and the app are actually really good, but it was never mentioned that you have to use Face ID or a passcode on your phone to actually use the app otherwise it will not open. Who actually designed this? That you’re going to require the end user to modify how they use their phone itself? There should simply be an in-app password like every other app before opening the app itself rather than requiring us to change how we’ve used our phone for the last 20 years.
Update: Improved battery life
This Schlage lock replaced a different electronic lock that was unreliable. Also, it’s obvious that the Schlage deadbolt is still built strongly with security being foremost. UPDATE 1: (one year later). The lock continues to operate flawlessly, battery life is very good, but will vary with usage and wifi proximity. We change batteries twice a year and have never lost access. The app has been update several times and is very user friendly. UPDATE 2: (two yrs later). Switched to 4000 mWh lithium rechargeable batteries with extremely good success. It’s been 4 months and the batteries are still at 96%. The operation of the locks remains absolutely perfect.
Push notifications
After the recent updates our push notifications are extremely delayed. Over 2-3 min before we get an alert. Tested the connection (excellent), checked lock history directly after unlocking and locking and that event was listed however no alert. Very frustrating.

App needs refined
The app is well designed but if you happens to update the password or happen to forget the password well it will make go through many hoops to recover or reset the password. Also good when sharing it with your family members. It was working fine for while, after resetting my password and now it’s not letting my family members access it. App needs to be updated to be more efficient and reliable
Great Digital Lock
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to how frequently I have to change the batteries in them. They are on an Airbnb so they get used regularly. The convenience of changing codes from my phone is a game changer from the manual ones I was using. I would purchase these again.

Wish it didn’t log you out of the app
The system works great for two different homes. Easy to program and manage except that every few weeks it logs me out of the app and I need to fully log in. Grand scheme of things it’s not a big deal, but an inconvenience.
Love my lock!
We have this lock on our Airbnb home and it saves so much time being able to remotely set codes and also being able to lock the door when careless guests leave the door unlocked. It also makes guests check in very easy!
Impossible to reset password
My password stopped working. Odd, since I did not change it and use a password manager. I reset it 5 times now with no luck. The screen shows I need at least 8 characters, doesn’t list the maximum characters though. I tried a simple 9 digit password; P0$Policy. Just to see if it would work. It has a zero for a number, a $ for the special symbol, upper and lower case characters. Not a long secure random password like my password app provides, but it meets the requirements. The page said it saved it. But even this lame password does not work. I deleted the app, powered my phone off/on, then downloaded the app fresh. Password still fails. Change it again, still fails. No support number or email in the app. Do I need to return the lock and find another brand?
Notifications
Sends notifications of lock activity but when clicking on it, it doesn’t take you to an area to check notifications. If have multiple locks, you can’t tell way you were sent a notification in the first place!

It is a very good, sturdy product. Lost its Internet connection a couple times, but not a big deal. The only thing preventing this from four or five stars is the battery life. Every few weeks four batteries. It becomes quite expensive.
Upgraded to Encode—a definite upgrade!
We are loving our new Encode! Fast, seamless communication with our WiFi (and no extra module), and simple installation. Very pleased.
Schlage Encode disruption after Upgrade to iPhone 17
Since I upgraded to iPhone 17 (on the same wireless phone number) during login attempts, Schlage Home App gives the Error Message “Invalid username or password” to my verified credentials. I am locked out if the App and cannot control my Schlage Encode Deadbolt Door Lock via the App.
Need a way to add user to all locks
The app requires each lock to be programmed separately. You should be able to add users to ALL locks more easily. It would also be good for the temporary settings to be the lock time zone rather than app use time zone or at least note which time zone is being used. “Delet all” CTA is a primary CTA when it’s the non-primary use - too easy to accidentally delete all users. And there are other UX issues but these are the worst offenders

App doesn’t allow sharing well between other occupants of the home and it chows on batteries.

Sped up from old versions. Much more responsive now. Provides all desired functionality.
Isn’t showing *who* unlocked with a code
The point of this app it to control your locks and see WHO came and went and when. At some point from the history they removed WHO was associated with the codes. The result is I can’t tell if my dog walker came when they said they did. Please fix it to the way it was!
No low battery app notification?
The app has pretty basic features, but it doesn’t have one of the most basic notification functions. Battery level! Would be very helpful to have a pop up notification on the actual app for when the battery drops below 30% like Ring doorbells have, then again when below 10%. It might tell you on the physical lock, but it needs to tell you on the app too.
Reliable and Secure Lock
I have been using Schlage’s Smart Lock for three years. I receive an alert in the Schlage App when the battery is low and the App easily pairs with Alexa. I have had no problems locking an unlocking our door remotely. Great lock!!!
Not yet ready for prime time
A wonderful product when it works, which is about 2/3 of the time. The rest of the time and usually the most critical times jams for no apparent reason.

I love how simple and user friendly the app interface is. Set up was a breeze and so is navigating the app.
Major problems
I’ve had this lock for 1.5 years and it’s been problematic from about two months into owning it. At first I thought it was just eating up batteries but now it’s totally not working. It’s too bad because I really like the app.
Exceptional build
My home faces east with the Texas heat in the morning which although most people think would be cooler it is not the previous locks all failed. This one is exceptional I highly recommend it

Tried over and over. Deleted and re-added lock twice. This device does not work with Apple HomeKit using the brand new appleTV 4K as a hub
