Pure frustration
If anyone can get it to work it is totally unstable and multiple attempts to resolve the problem were fruitless.
Bug in translation
while I have selected “show translation in English”, it mostly translate to spanish! Today, I also had some translation in Mandarin. I hope this bug gets resolved soon.
A frustrating app
I tried a 3 day trial for this and was impressed. I then purchased this as a 3 month subscription at £45 and I feel like I may have been overcharged. Sometimes it works and sometimes it lags horribly. That inconsistency is the problem for me. If you are worried that the app will lag and you have to then repeat yourself, this affects your performance. It then, to me, feels counter productive. I will try this app still but, currently, I find it easier talking to chatgbt at 30% of the cost. 3 months on... I tried to work with the app for the first month or so and just gave up as there were times it just didn’t respond to me. It’s the unpredictability that I didn’t like about it. I’m sure the app provider will put this error as somehow being my fault, based on their somewhat dismissive and tardy response to my original review. But if you use an app where you lose confidence with it, because of operating issues, then surely it is the right of the consumer to feel aggrieved by it. Perhaps users will like this app. Good luck to them. But will I re-subscribe after an initial 3 months? Sorry, but no.

It's but I won't be renewing. If you have to think about your answer you will be interrupted. I prefer talking to a person infinitely more and honestly claude or chat gtp adapts much better.

The best thing I’ll like about this app is the AI conversationalist character actually understand you even if you’re sloppy with your words. That’s a big help compared to one lack EWA. App don’t ever get that they’re crooks and criminals. Anyway do I review check before downloading and purchasing anything? But these guys are a good guys Alex is a good dude. He even alerted me that I had paid for attempted to pay twice once from the App Store and once from the website. I’ve spoken with him a couple of times and he is generally an honest guy I believe so. There’s something that’s rare in these apps. It seems like these days. but absolutely I definitely recommend this app and talk to the AI and just develop your ear like I’m trying to do and you should be speaking Spanish in no time.
Numerous annoying flaws
App doesn't properly start recording for several seconds after tapping start, causing the application to try to correct you on errors that weren't made. AI frequently forgets its own parameters during practice sessions, causing you to have to use your conversation credits to correct it. AI also frequently hallucinates that you are using an illogical homophone, and will "correct" perfectly sensible sentences. It seems like the AI is trained on people speaking a language poorly and fails more at unaccented comprehension than accented comprehension. If I put on a thick American accent, it understands me much better—how is that helpful for practice? EDIT: The appmaker said that this was a bug that they have corrected, which is an infuriating assertion given the fact it costs over $100 a year for a subscription and they aren't refunding users for the time it did not work. They also chose to contact me to boast about their large userbase as proof that their app works. Many people enjoying something doesn't make it inherently useful or good. Duolingo also has an enormous userbase, and has repeatedly been denounced for language acquisition. I would be skeptical of an app developer who thinks so little of your intelligence.
Good but needs work
It’s a really good app. My gripe with the AI is that it’s always asking me questions. Normal conversations aren’t interrogations. Sometimes your conversation partner will just say a statement and then you react. I would like more of that. As it is now, I feel like I’m always getting interviewed by the AI.
Degraded app quality
Is the app being vibe coded (derogatory)? This was an excellent tool for practicing. I paid for 3 months. I took some time off and on my return, the chat is now constantly erroring and is slow. It’s no longer a free flowing conversation. This is an app with a lot of potential, treat it with care or you will lose paying customers. I hope I can come back to give a better review in future but I am very disappointed right now.
Bugs
There seems to be issues with bugs that prevent it from having a full sentence you’ll be going through a conversation and then it will mess up the conversation or sometimes it doesn’t hear you correctly
Keeps getting better and better! So worth the subscription
I really love this app! It helps me squeeze in Spanish practice whenever I can throughout my day. I appreciate so much that the developers take feedback seriously and are continuously making improvements and enhancements for this app. I actually get excited to open it and look forward to the updates. I LOVE that I can make my own AI prompts! I’m really happy they included podcasts in the app too. I just hope that they can find a way to make it work with Apple Car Play so you can practice speaking while stuck in traffic.
Needs improvement
Awesome idea but more often than not, many of the features take an awful long time to load or will just stop working all together. Load times become painful after about 10 minutes of use.
Good, but tutors far too constrained.
I use it for Spanish, about 90 minutes a day. It is much better than other voice apps. Most recently I tried Practika and Duolingo, and it’s clearly more advanced. It’s good at hearing me and following my custom prompts. Like, sometimes I’ll just paste a whole song in Spanish, and it’s good at feeding me a line at a time to translate. The main issue is the AI is incredibly reluctant to discuss a bunch of random things. Examples: 1. Anything related to sex. I didn’t expect it to write erotica, but it has trouble even mentioning the word for a private part. Like I mentioned trying to have a baby, not in a sexual way; it asked what a goal in my life right now is. I said “trying to have a baby. My wife and I have been trying for a while.” And it started into “I want to keep this conversation respectful, so let’s change the topic.” I guess we got too close to the act of “trying to make a baby”. 2. Anything not real. This is the really weird one. Like I asked a silly question about “if you had to pick one of your fingers, and all your other fingers would become an exact copy of that finger, which would you pick?” And it just REFUSED to answer. It said something like “I want to keep this conversation respectful. There is no known method to change your fingers to be copies of the other.” I tried a few more times to get it to give a real response, and it just refused. 3. Any ethical problem. I tried getting it to answer the trolley problem, and it mostly refused to answer. It kept refusing outright, or saying it would “find a way to save everyone”. Eventually, I did get it to say it would change the track to save 5/kill 1, but it was like pulling teeth. In general, I find most conversations in real life can veer into made up-scenarios, or thought experiments, and the AI just cannot do those. Anything slightly unrealistic and it’ll refuse. It also can’t talk in anyway that isn’t overly professional. I really wanted to practice talking with actual Spanish speakers, the vast majority of whom are not super professional, super polite all the time, but it just can’t. I write a 2000 word prompt telling it to take in a ‘mean character’ and giving a ton of details of how it should talk to be more mean/sarcastic/etc., but it just refused and went yo it’s usual “overly nice” persona.
Poorly designed. Slow
For the introduction you should make this a streamline product. The very first lesson if you want them to repeat a sentence you have to listen to the English again before they’ll say the French. I only need to reheat the French, I don’t need you to speak again in English with the preliminary instructions. This is just badly designed and it’s way too slow to respond or process your language
Greatness ruined by terrible support
After trying 2 other apps i'm being thoroughly disappointed, I was very hesitant to try a 3rd - especially one that was making the same kind of both claims as the other 2 apps. So I was amazed when my initial forays with the app and its chat function were fantastic. I still put off subscribing until..... The new updates - adding podcasts and the ability to import your own context - went live. I signed up and started playing around but for every cool thing I found, I found frustration and disappointment. Let's deal with the bad first: In short, it's not as easy as it first appears and the website is different in places which just adds to the confusion. For example, there's a flash card section but it shows you both the native and foreign meaning of a word together - giving no time to recall from your memory nor are you presented with a multiple choice option. Also, there's no way to set up a series of flash cards, swiping to move on to the next etc. Instead, you have to open up a flashcard, then close it, then go to the next word you want to see as a flashcard, click on it to open and repeat. The guided lessons don't always log your completion which means you have to repeat it and hope that this time it marks the section as complete and allow you to move onto the next topic. Likewise, the app often lags - particularly when analysing your input and formulating a reply (I lost count of the amount of times I said 'hello?' to promot a response) and there's no option to 'go back' once in a chat. Instead you have to close down and reopen the app to go back to the menu options. And despite being at the absolute beginner stage, the app throws in words and phrases that are way beyond the level it's teaching. It literally suggests a role play to practice phrases you've just learnt but once you agree it tosses in a whole bunch of new vocab which completely throws you off. Now, honestly, these would not a big deal if I could get some assistance but the support function is atrocious. I hardly ever get a reply and if I do it's several days late. Multiple queries have been sent and 99% have fallen into a black hole. The 2 replies I received ignored most of what I was seeking help for and have gone radio silent despite asking for further info (which I sent and chased up). So what's the good? This is easily the best app I've used. The AI voice sounds authentic and I can have fully-fledged conversations and not a rigid script that the AI must adhere to. The podcasts, flash cards, import function, grammar lessons, guided lessons and - most of all, the AI chat itself - could make for a phenomenal self-contained learning tool. Unfortunately, it is completely let down by the total lack of support. I appreciate that the team may be small but its poor business and poor customer service to take so long to reply, to ignore much of what was asked, or to simply not reply at all - not even when chased up and when voicing dissatisfaction. Despite how good this app could be, I would not have bought a subscription had I known the support would be so poor. I wanted to rate this one star but I've settled on three because it's not the app that's weak, it's the humans behind it.

Truly like having a 24/7 tutor. I have downloaded at least 7 apps and this one does it all!
Accessibility
I am totally blind, and I am trying to learn French, and although parts of this app is accessible, I think it cost way too much money for it not to be totally accessible, so if you could, would you please make sure that this app works with voiceover in your next upgrade, Apple has tools to help you thank you
Phenomenal
I’ve just done a few days on my LanguaTalk trial - just scratching the surface of what the platform offers - and I’m so impressed that I will surely continue. I’ve studied Spanish off and on for more than 60 years. For the last two years I have been using Duolingo. I don’t have much bad to say about Duo - it brought me back to bilingual. A while ago I “graduated” from Duo. They have only been offering me refresh exercises rather than new content so it was time to move on. After several false starts I landed on LanguaTalk. It does the AI chat function far and away better than Duo. Not only is the real time conversation more realistic and flexible, the written feedback following the chats is so valuable and vastly superior to the similar feature on Duo. I can already feel my conversational skills improving.
Expectations not met
After comparing AI apps for Spanish conversation using reviews, I chose Langua. I have been using it daily for a few weeks. I am disappointed with the AI conversations I have had. For one thing, the AI model seems at times not to understand my responses or questions. Sometimes, when I ask it how would you say such and such in English in Spanish it return with the English I asked the Spanish equivalent! I have not given up after spending $159 for a year subscription. But I am disappointed. An AI language app is only as good as its underlying AI model. Langua seems not to have a descent AI engine running the app.
When it works it’s great
Half the time I use the app it either randomly disconnects my AirPods so I can’t continue a conversation, lags for ages so the conversation is broken, or rarely just doesn’t work. When it works it’s great and the scenarios / paths are fantastic for learning, but the app itself is buggy to the point where I’ll likely have to cancel my membership.
Provides Extension to Basic Knowledge
Using Langua has helped to extend my second language practice into longer sentences and comprehension of more detailed natural speaking with the AI practice partners. My favorite part is reviewing the history & highlighting the phrases that are unknown; then generating to similar words or phrases to practice later with the flash cards. Also during discussions using the “light bulb” feature to generate sample answer choices and then record is efficient in getting a complete conversation in correct form to study and review. In my opinion, it’s better to study (read) a correct conversation (in writing) with grammar to build proficiency in speaking the language over time.
Horrible
It’s translations are horrible and it does not seem to understand anything I say or a person who speaks the language says it always translates the wrong thing and tells me I’m wrong do not waste $200

Sehr viele interessante und nützliche Lernmodi. Leider wird die Spracheingabe aber sehr oft mitten im Satz abgebrochen, selbst wenn man noch weit von der eingestellten Sprechpause von 3 Sekunden entfernt ist. Auch liest die KI oft nur die Hälfte des Textes, der im Chat steht.
Great in Concept
I rarely use this app as the voice recognition and translation is very frustrating. I’m sure it will improve what time but right now it’s very difficult to use. Definitely excited for future updates.
many bugs
really hard to use , been subscribing for over a year now and they still have a ton of issues with scrollback, “large”context windows of just a few thousand words, and general reliability issues. i don’t understand why they don’t invest in product quality.
Finally got me talking!
This app has been great for removing my self-consciousness about speaking. The AI is very clever about pivoting to new subjects when chatting. I like that I have options on how I want to be corrected. It’s very easy to highlight a specific word or phrase, get the translation, and add it to saved for later flash card work. Highly recommend!
Review?
It only worked for 2 minutes and it wants me to write a review? How about teaching me some Spanish first instead of having me call the police department.
A useful app
I have only used the casual chat function, but I found it good practice in speaking Spanish. The chat is a bit formulaic- it asks a question, you reply, it thinks a bit and replies with general comments about what you said, and then asks another question. At the end you get feedback - you did well, these are the errors you made, and a bit of cultural info. Not as good as a person (each chat is de novo) but still useful.
Mic doesn’t pic up well
Mic doesn’t accurately pick up what I say. The AI also doesn’t learn anything about me to help the accuracy of the conversations being learned.
Could be good but has issues
I really want to love this app. Unfortunately it has real trouble detecting what I’m saying. I use a couple of other AI apps and none of the others have an issue and neither have several others I’ve trialed. They get it right 98% of the time. This app about 50 per cent. It’s also slower than a lot of the other apps. I’m on the the unlimited tier for reference. I’m on an annual subscription until October so I’ll see if it improves but I feel like what was one of the best apps is being left behind. I also had the issue today that Vincent pronounced the s in est in the French course.
Great for convo practice
I’ve been studying Spanish for about a year, I’ve found great ways to practice individual skills of listening, reading, writing, speaking… but conversations were still so difficult. The conversation exercises I’ve been doing with langua have really pulled it all together for me.

Very effective way to learn
I have been learning French using Langua most days for over 4 months now, and I love it. My French speaking has come on so much in that time. I am very much appreciating the new developments that keep coming on stream - it just keeps getting better. Highly recommended.
Such a shame
Such a shame I was hoping this AI app would actually work compared to the others I’ve tried, however it constantly doesn’t even get close to transcribing my spoken responses, it wasn’t just once or twice it’s almost every other reply. Often replacing my responses with completely different words or phrases that don’t even sound remotely close what was originally said. Until this has been improved there’s no way it can justify a subscription from me, so glad I got the trial beforehand, however it’s only taken until the second day to cancel it due to the above.
Intermedio frustrado
I really like the structure and the specific grammar topics and when it works, it works pretty well. I tried the premium version twice a few weeks apart in case it improved. I had sessions where I was having to correct 50% or more of my responses based on transcription errors, sometimes egregious and not at all sounding like what I would’ve said in my pretty decent accent. And then sometimes fixing the previous answer causes it to get stuck on the previous answer and the cycle of frustration was enough to drive me away. Maybe I’ll come back in six months.

Best AI language learning app
I tried a load of AI apps. But Langua offers IMO the most natural conversation with various AI partners. I study English and I want to study British English. In Langua I can select the desired accent, which is really nice. I would give a 5 star review at once and will update the review. Right now the service suffers of lagging in AI answers and the UI isn’t really optimised for larger screens (on the small screen its neat though). And its a pity that not all content from the website is available in the app like podcasts, videos….. Hope to see that also coming to the app.
Poor support
Feels like this app is run by AI. Had an issue with my subscription and couldn’t get any help. Really frustrating.
Very responsive support team
This is an update to my previous 3* review when I reported my frustration with the AI frequently hallucinating that I had said ‘Grazie a tutti’. I also reported this through the app and much to my amazement was contacted very quickly by the developers and then by a programmer who then kept me updated as they hunted down and corrected the issue that was causing this. It is working fine at present- very impressive!

Buggy app, intermittent microphone.
The learning program in the app is marginal at best. The app is super buggy and I can’t get the microphone to work inside the app. Would not recommend this app or the service.
First impressions
The ai voices are kinda weird? My tutor changes accent almost every message. Also on my 15th message I am expected to understand fully a whole sentence in Japanese and reply fully in Japanese. Whole apps looks promising tho, I'll keep y'all posted. But yea the accent thing is pretty annoying
Very Buggy
The app is surprisingly buggy considering the cost. Half the time, the chat is stuck loading and you can’t even start a conversation. Slow performance throughout the app. It’s the best AI language tutor I’ve come across, but it’s just a bummer that I can’t use it as much as I’d like to be use the service won’t even load.

I love it but annoying when have to keep resetting the translation feature as it stops working.
Solid Product
The heart of this app is the ai conversation interface. My priority is speaking fluency, natural conversation practice and targeted feedback. Langua was able to take me to the next level and exceeded my expectations. I found the voices and accents extremely realistic and the feedback ecosystem outstanding. The platform provides flexibility for every type of learning experience you may want to explore or review. This is a definite 5 star product and well worth the premium price. Additionally, they have indicated that they are committed to grow and improve this product for the future. The strengths of this app are conversation depth, quality of voices/accents, feedback quality, flexibility of learning. I feel the downsides are: While very flexible, it could add a layer of complexity in trying to identify the mode that provides the best results. Higher price, but worth it. The flash card section is not as robust as say a “Reverso”. (This would be my preference) It may be a little difficult for an absolute beginner but the recent rollout of “My path” may solve this. Background: I have been attempting to learn Italian for 3 years but freeze when I try to hold a conversation. Also, I have trouble understanding Italian spoken by others. I have used apps like Duolingo and others, YouTube lessons, facebook communities, podcasts stories, Italian songs and videos, workbooks and several years of expensive lessons from online tutors. I also spent considerable time evaluating the whole range of ai learning products available prior to selecting Langua. Bottom line: Langua is a very cost effective way to take you to fluency and should be an important tool, but not the only one, in your language learning journey. In just several weeks, it has helped me tremendously.

Has a bug after update
Very good but…
The app is very good and extremely useful for language study, but the Chinese needs some minor improvements. AI voice continues to pronounce 还 as huan, even when pronunciation should be hai. Also, even though I used the right expression to say at the beginning of (using 初） and the voice assistant would use the same expression, the correction kept correcting me substituting it with 前 convinced that I wanted to say Ago, which wasn’t the case…
Shame
The idea is great and sometimes it works, but so often the AI bot transcribes what you’re saying completely wrong. The flashcards are useful though
