A fabulous app for learning languages AND an awesome customer care culture!
Deceptive practices.
Be aware that they promoted features that weren’t available. They also charged my account after cancellation, which magically never happened.
It’s too fast
It would be 10 stars but the slowest speed .65 is too fast. Adjust it or provide another option of .4 other than that, it’s incredible. Interactive and you control your own journey.
Limited & bad content & app
There was a very limited amount of shows & movies and none of them were good. Most of the content were 3 minute “shows.” I actually want to watch full length shows and movies. The app is terrible. Tried canceling my subscription but they make it awfully difficult. I do however like the concept.
Its pretty good
Manor bug. 🐛 you can download content but everytime i try to open the app in the airplane it wont open. It needs internet to even open kind of making offline worthless.

Love how they have games, shows, and stories. Very helpful tools while remaining entertaining.
Poor content quality and customer service
I wanted to share my experience with Lingopie in case anyone is considering subscribing. I personally wouldn’t recommend it (TL): The content library is much smaller than I expected. After subscribing, I found there wasn’t enough content that interested me, so I decided not to continue. The customer support experience was disappointing. My annual subscription auto-renewed, but I don’t recall receiving any reminder before the renewal. I only discovered the charge after reviewing my bank statement about a week later and canceled the subscription immediately. I contacted support right away to request a refund, but they repeatedly refused and instead offered to downgrade me to a quarterly plan. What surprised me is that the quarterly plan costs about half of what I had just been charged for the annual renewal, which made the offer feel like an attempt to retain me as a paying customer rather than fairly resolve the issue. I also asked multiple times whether a renewal reminder had been sent before the charge, but they never directly answered that question and instead kept referring me back to their Terms of Service. I understand that it’s ultimately my responsibility to cancel a subscription before it renews. My frustration is with the poor customer service, the lack of a direct answer about the renewal reminder, and the inflexible handling of the situation. If you’re considering Lingopie, I’d recommend reviewing the content library carefully before subscribing and setting your own reminder well before the renewal date if you’re not sure you’ll keep the subscription.

Great Idea
It’s a good idea to have an app like this but the selection of shows and movies isn’t very large. It may be better to stream find another website online but this can be a good starter for beginners.
Multiple Options
I like the fact that in Spanish it labels the country of where the content is from its a very useful feature I just wished they added more from different countries (Chile, Bolivia) its just mainly Colombia, Argentina and Spain

Not good for learning phrases
The dictionary does not reflect how the words are being used in phrases. It’s a good illustration of how ai doesn’t always work.
app is good when it works
learning spanish. not a whole lot of variety, which is sad. also many shows, music, etc. simply will not play, they just load forever. it’s a big problem
There is no way to contact app support and get things fixed except writing a review.
I have three suggestions: 1. There’s no way to contact you. The only way to provide feedback is through an app review. There’s no email address or in-app feedback option. 2. The streak system is frustrating. If I practice multiple times a day, I should be able to maintain my streak. Instead, the streak section locks for 24 hours, forcing me to wait until the exact time it unlocks again. If I miss that window, I lose my streak even though I’m using the app regularly. I shouldn’t have to watch the clock just to keep a streak. Please let users access the streak section whenever they want. 3. Some translations are incorrect. I report them using the flag, but they never seem to be fixed. For example, I’ve tapped a French word and the English translation simply repeats the French word instead of giving the English meaning. Are the translation reports being reviewed?
Cool concept
Good app based on a great idea. Watching movies and TV (and reading) have always been great ways to be exposed to a language. This app takes this to another level, providing language exposure and consistent, systematic study based on that exposure.
Misleading Free Trial Billing
Hello, I signed up because your app clearly advertised: $83.99 annually after a 7-day free trial However, after I entered my payment information, a $41 payment was attempted. Although the payment was declined, that isn’t consistent with what your advertisement stated. If today’s charge was supposed to be $0, why was a $41 charge attempted? Please explain why this happened and clarify your billing practices, as the information shown before I signed up does not match my experience. Thank you.

LOVE that you can adjust speed (super slow to normal) of the audio in the videos- while you watch 🥰 I am retaining & understanding more Korean words - than with other study aids.The cooking and baby videos are helping me the most !! Lingopie is REALLY such a PHENOMENAL way to learn another language !! It doesn’t feel like study or practice 🤩👍

I was charged $13.99 for a monthly membership on July 2. Then a day or 2 later I tried to access the app and it’s telling me my credentials are wrong. My credentials are saved into my iPhone passwords app so I don’t know how they could be wrong. Messaged support about this matter on July 4 and it’s now July 12 and still no response from Lingopie about this issue.
The search is over
So glad this app exists. I love reading in French, and Lingopie allows me to learn and study new words while watching videos, which has boosted my vocabulary in a short time. The combination of video, translation, games, and flashcards using spaced repetition has made this possible. Often on other platforms, like Netflix, the dialogue doesn’t match the closed captions. That’s not the case with Lingopie, which I really appreciate. I am watching The Daltons, a French animated comedy series. The episodes are short and packed with a ton of new and very specific vocabulary that would have taken a lot of reading elsewhere to find. The reason I am giving four stars is that the translation of the script sometimes doesn’t make sense. You can report errors and provide a new translation, which is great. However, the content is also very limited. It would be wonderful if Lingopie could mimic Language Reactor and develop an extension that can be used while streaming on other platforms. Lingopie has a nice, easy-to-use interface, and it would be great to be able to use it elsewhere. Thank you for the great service you provide!
Netflix feature doesn’t support Apple ID
If you want to use lingopie to watch and learn from Netflix series then don’t sign up with your Apple ID as it’s not supported.
Promising but Disappointed
I’ve been using this app for nearly 2 weeks and have paid for the annual subscription (as most companies how will happen I didn’t cancel my free trial fast enough - c’est la vie) so I will bang my head against a brick wall and use it until I get my moneys worth but I’m really disappointed in the content on the app. The phone app isn’t nearly as good as using it on my laptop where more of the features are present and I can’t connect with my Apple TV yet either. The shows are very short and obscure. The history section, which I love, is sparse and reduced to someone talking into a microphone on a subject in their room. Not very professional. I’ll keep exploring, but Lingopie’s premise is great but the execution not so much.

I’m learning Spanish and this has been a fun way to connect the dots. I hope the shows that are available only on mobile will move to TV app soon! I really like that you can save words while watching TV then go onto the app and study them through games.
Deceptive Advertising
When they say you can cancel anytime they neglect to tell you that you do not get a refund for the unused portion of your subscription. Also, I found several mistakes and ambiguities in their Italian translations … pretty bad considering I am a B-1 level student
Great Authentic Content
This is a great way to find authentic comprehensible content. My only reservations are that the enhanced content can sometimes be distracting and the AI that picks the vocab sometimes doesn’t realize they’ve picked a word that is part of a particle verb or idiom.
Great idea, not a great app
Thankfully this has a free trial. Because there are several problems. First, you can’t watch the Netflix shows through the iPad app. This really isn’t clear until you signup and download the app. They can only be watched via a desktop Chrome based browser, not even Safari on the iPad. So in the app, you’re limited to the very small selection of included shows, most of which are using South American dialects for Spanish. Second, the audio sounds like robots are speaking, it’s very tinny, making it hard to understand. It also has a small but noticeable delay sometimes when characters start speaking, often missing the first syllable of the first word. Third, the search function and filters are really poor and need work. It really is a great idea, but until these problems are resolved I won’t be paying for it. In its current form, it’s almost unwatchable.
Why not adding English
Should add English for language learning. Please do so. Many want to learn English
Really engaging!
I am a beginner in learning Spanish and I really like how this puts learning Spanish into a real context. Instead of just learning words you’ll never use you can choose what type of video/book you want with potential words you want. It also is so much fun!

The app itself is in very poor shape and the translations are embarrassingly bad and obviously AI-generated.

Why, oh why does the iPad app configure this app in portrait mode? I use my iPad in landscape and charge continuously (the point is on the side), rendering this app as useless! So disappointed!

High potential, a bit of bugs for mobile
Would you please add a key function where I can subtitle on and off with one press on mobile? Two steps of turning on and off subtitles is inconvinient. There are times I just wanna watch without sub and repeat again with subtitles on right after but it's very inconvinient. Also, some bugs when phone goes from vertical to horizon.
Great idea, almost no content
The idea behind this is great, instead of reading or listening to stock sentences you watch TV shows and get to pull the language apart almost in real time. Then you get flash cards as soon as the show finishes. And it works with Netflix. That's the theory anyway. In practice the amount of content is so microscopic you'll run out within a few weeks, days even. The Netflix stuff doesn't help much either as it's only a tiny, tiny, tiny subset of the Netflix catalogue. And you can only watch the Netflix stuff via a PC browser, not the app. With a LOT not content this would be a winner, but right now it's really limited to novelty value. There are literally just a handful of things to watch, it's genuinely surprising how little there is. This is for learning Japanese, perhaps the other languages have more on offer.
Kinda expensive for what it is
Downloaded it thinking it would be more convenient than looking up up separately thinking it would be free and help alongside Duolingo (which is mostly free without subscription) but after seeing the subscription cost it's much more worth it to look up words separately on google I think this app will go downhill fast because of that fact
Best app on the market to learn new languages
I love the English and Spanish subtitles on the tv shows and movies. Content is designed to be learned and filters from Spanish speaking countries, if you’re trying to learn Spanish that is.

Great learning app just needs a few tweaks
I’m really enjoying Lingopie and feel like just the few weeks of using it has made my Spanish way better! I’ve been intermediate for a while but struggle to understand when people speak fast or use complex language. . . The only reason it’s not a 5* is I’ve found sometimes the app is a bit glitchy, I’ll be watching something and use the repeat feature to listen to the sentence again or feature to look up the meaning of a word and it will just get stuck on repeat and the only way to get it off is to exit the app
Slightly regret signing up for a year
I don’t find the French selection to be that good, and I’ve also discovered there are free Chrome extensions which show two sets of subtitles for Netflix, Youtube and Prime, so I slightly regret signing up for an annual sub. I wish that you could use LingoPie with Netflix on the iPad/iPhone but alas this feature only works on laptop or PC. Overall I would say I’m disappointed, however the flashcard system is pretty cool.

I guess this recent update is glitching out my app, great service but I’m having issues with mine.

I love both music, snd reading. This app uses both yo teach Spanish. The cool thing is that you are teaching yourself.

I paid $100 for a year subscription to this app. I meant to cancel my membership but they will take you off the Apple platform to pay so it’s harder to cancel. Well once I got billed half of the videos wouldn’t played then half the content got removed!

IPad app needs updating
Every time I launch this app on an iPad Pro the app reverts to portrait mode (over ruling the OS software). Makes it useless to use. Haven’t got past the registration stage as I can’t type in the details with my head turned to 90 degrees. Makes me come to the conclusion that the app is badly supported and that if I purchase a subscription I will be entering a world of pain?
Would be great but glitchy asf
A lot of the features are bogged down by glitches, so frustration overrides the learning that can take place. Especially when considering the speak function. I’m mainly interested in this feature however it doesn’t work. If the glitches don’t subside I’ll probably cancel my subscription as it doesn’t seem worth it.
