Just What I Needed!
I was doing a different course, going nowhere fast. I took a chance and bought this instead and I am loving it already. Very much appreciated going over all the pronunciation rules and practice first before diving in. Clear explanations and plenty of activities for reinforcement of skills. I am looking forward to continuing my Italian study!

Audio Recording Glitches
Glad I haven’t spent any money yet, because for how much you charge, I should be having so many issues with your app processing my voice when it’s having me repeat words. There is nothing wrong with how I’m saying the words. The app selectively picks a few words every time I’m in a new section, and it refuses to process what I’m saying. And it records and types out nothing close to what I actually said. It’s super annoying. Because the only way to get passed the question is to repeat yourself a bunch of times, or click to reveal the word as if you don’t know it, and then go back and “re-learn” it, even though I’m not getting it wrong. Something so pricey shouldn’t have these issues. This sounds like a small issue, but it’s super annoying to deal with and it interrupts the flow.
Excellent but a few concerns
I just want to say I love the app and paid for the full course. That being said, it’s very frustrating when a quarter of the record audio buttons in a lesson don’t work. That’s my only issue but it keeps popping up so I can’t give a 5⭐️ review until that’s fixed
Best language app for learning Japanese grammar
I have used several Japanese language apps, and like Rocket Japanese the best. It has a good balance between speaking, practice, vocabulary drills, learning kana and kanji, and awesome explanations of Japanese grammar. Japanese grammar is just so conceptually different from English, it just doesn’t make sense trying to learn it by just listening. I am a visual learner, and being able to read what I’m trying to say, really helps me to understand it.
Not optimised for iPhone 12 mini
Downloaded the app onto my iPhone 12 mini but can’t sign is as the keyboard covers the password section and I’m unable to scroll down, so the app is useless. Not everyone has a massive phone! Please fix…

Difficult to stay motivated
The lessons are okay but not very interesting. The course seems a bit old fashioned now and I don’t think it was worth the money.
Good, but lacking many languages
This app is much better than Duolingo or LingoDeer, but it’s lacking a lot of languages I need, such as Vietnamese and Tagalog.
Spanish
I can’t put it down—so much fun.
One-syllable words are not recognised.
In pretty frustrating that the app doesn’t recognise one syllable words. How can you expect engagement with that?
Great
This is the best learning French app I have tried so far and feel if I stuck with it I will actually learn the language . What I like about this learning app more than the other popular apps I have tried is the way the lessons are structured. The lessons are much in-depth and more interactive and focus on many different facets of learning French from listening, pronunciation, grammar, learning cultural context, using flash cards and audio conversation.
Doesn’t connect to wireless headphones
Japanese language section refuses to play through air pods when all other apps do it fine. Strange bug that renders audio lessons unusable in a public workspace.
Missing in translation
The app seems useful. I spend 20-30 minutes nightly. I notice a lot of issues when I’m speaking and the app gives me 100% but it’s not entirely what I said, so essentially I can be inaccurate and still get credit. Very frustrating since I want to be accurate. It’s a lot to take in, learning a new language, all the ins and outs, etc. in my 60’s, and I’m not sure this is the best format, at least for me. I feel more human support and interaction would be beneficial but then that becomes a whole other issue. Nonetheless, tons of information seems well presented that I hope will sink in at some point.
Exceptional Experience
Rocket Language is easily my first choice when learning a new language. It is incredibly comprehensive and detailed.

I’VE BEEN REACHING OUT TO THEM FOR A WEEK TO GET A REFUND AND AT FIRST THEY RESPONDED BUT THEN THEY STOPPED RESPONDING, TELLING ME I’M NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND EVEN IF THEIR WEBSITE GUARANTEES A 60 DAY REFUND POLICY! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APP. THIS IS A WARNING. I IGNORED IT WHEN I READ IT FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS, PLEASE DON’T FALL VICTIM OF THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY! THE ABSOLUTE WORSTTTTT!!!!! FRAUDULENT BUNCH.
Much Beter
After the most recent update this app is much better. It’s now my go to learning app. Much easier to use and has a smoother flow and more appealing look. Also saves your progress wherever you leave off.
Voice Recognition Not Working
This application has a lot of potential. I am using it for Japanese. But the voice recognition simply doesn’t work properly. Half of the time is doesn’t hear me at all, and even when it does it misidentifies what I’m saying. Very unfortunate.
Decent for the price
I like the audio and all the tasks for listening, writing, speaking and flash cards. However, it does not provide explanations on how or what is being said. I am having to utilize other reserves to learn with the app as it does not provide enough feedback for word or sentence structure explanation.
Comprehensive. Engaging. Challenging.
I’m taking the Italian course. It’s well suited for serious beginners. The combination of hearing, speaking, reading and writing is a thorough introduction to the language, and far superior to the more well known “tourist phrases” apps.

The letters/symbols are too small to see properly
I’ve loved using this app to learn Japanese from scratch. The bite size lessons and option to record yourself pronouncing words and even participating in conversations is great. My only gripe is I feel it discriminates, albeit unwittingly, against those of us whose eye sight is not particularly good. There is no option to increase the size of letters or symbols. A real let down to an otherwise really thoughtful app.
Several Bugs
Rocket Languages is working well for me (learning Italian), but the app itself needs work. e.g you can listen to the initial conversation in each lesson on your head phones / ear buds but as soon as you move into each lesson it cuts out your earphones (using iphone x). Also the language recognition component frequently goes AWOL (stops working) and thereby freezes up the app.
Good course but also super problematic
I took the Spanish course and as a gay man found it stuck in another era. When discussing spouses in Spanish it said simplistic things like say you have an esposa if you are a man or esposo if you are a woman. No acknowledgment of the fact that many men have husbands and women have wives. I felt so erased. All they had to say was say esposa for wife or esposo for husband. There was also a lesson on asking permission to take a photo and while I understand it’s a simple conversation to teach concepts it felt like they were encouraging people not to respect boundaries. The women in the example says no you can’t take my photo and the man in the example keeps repeating please until she breaks down. A little creepy in my opinion. Again I get it’s a simple exercise but I did not expect to get creeper vibes from a fictional scenario in a language course.
Fabulous!
I needed a French class that was interactive and that I could complete asynchronously. Rocket Language fits the bill.
Audio simply doesn’t work
I’ve contacted support, and they say they’re looking into it. But it’s literally been months. The app is unusable, as the app just doesn’t ask for my microphone access. I have a brand new phone, and paid for the lifetime subscription. I haven’t even been able to finish lesson 1. Extremely disappointed with how they can’t seem to get a fix once they got my money.
One syllable pronunciation failing
On one syllable words, pronunciation is failing all the time.
Poor software, manipulated reviews
Glad they've given users the ability to cancel voice recording. However, it's still terrible in the app. I would say after the initial lessons with one or two word phrases, it fails to catch what I say or thinks I said something completely different over 75% of the time. My internet connection is completely fine and I know my pronunciation is not that bad. If the voice recognition is a selling point for you, think again. It has been a constant frustration the whole time I've been using this app - it's a little better on my computer, but I would prefer using the app. Unfortunately, I cannot change my initial favourable review on the Rocket Languages website, which I wrote after completing my free trial and getting a $10 discount to submit. So beware the favourable reviews you see online for this program. Other points: the app misses activity points and you have to restart the app to complete a section. Also, the presentation of some of the audio lessons is really weird. Sometimes the instructor is antagonistic to the listener and lesson 3.2 is blantanly sexist. Be careful with the trial lessons, because they've clearly put their effort into perfecting those ones.
Buggy
The course content is good but there are quite a few bugs in the app which they don’t seem to bother fixing. Often the text boxes aren’t scrollable and you can’t see what you’ve written, and questions don’t specify fem/masc/sing/plur and you have to guess, but then when they show you the answer, there’s a tip telling you if it’s fem/masc etc. A bit backwards and unhelpful!
I love it
I am loving the lessons

The ASL lessons are maddeningly frustrating: the signers move far too quickly to follow without slowing down the videos, the written explanations contradict what is actually being signed, and the translations are just wrong. Terrible!
It’s good
I’m enjoying the course (French level 2) but one little complaint from me: the number of exclamation marks used is absolutely insane!!!! Almost every sentence has one. It’s actually rather grating after a time.

Pretty good course, but some problems!
I find the app works fairly well and has lots of ways to reinforce your lessons, but as others have said - quite often parts of the ‘testing’ don’t work consistently. Also very disappointed that as soon as you get to learning the ‘cultural’ sections - this includes learning numbers etc, it has next to no interactive sections. These sections have a lot of reading which does not help me if I am driving or doing things around the house etc - I would have expected ‘Amy’ to read these to me! Please fix this - it has really turned me off using the course ☹️

Strong content
Excellent content but knocking a star off for what looks like a dated app. Voice recognition is a bit hit or miss but that’s true of the competition as well. Would be nice to have access to all the tools available in the web version.
Great App & Software... BUT
Love this software for learning French, however; the iOS app only works 40% (at best) of the time. Tutor narration simply does not play and for that reason the software is rendered useless.

A Terrible App
I am having so much trouble with this app that I am at the point where I have decided not to purchase the service. It works fine with my laptop, but the app is terrible. It keeps cutting out my Bluetooth headset (which continues to work perfectly with other apps). Without the headset, the voice recognition is so glitchy that the app is unusable. Completely frustrating, and really bad for Rocket Languages, since it seems like a really good language learning system.

Disappointing
I had looked forward to this app, and it started off fairly well. Unfortunately it fell behind with the release of iOS 6, and even more with iOS 7. Nothing about it functions as it should.
Unreliable
Very inconsistent behaviour. Sometimes the audio just doesn’t play after being fine the day before. A fine app when everything’s working fine well but unreliable.
