When you download it says in-app purchase but In reality they make you answer a bunch of questions and create an account and pay a subscription before you can even see how the app works and what it can offer
Great app but missing crucial feature
I love this app and use it weekly for tasty healthy recipes but it’s really missing a family plan or duo subscription model. My partner and I split the cooking and shopping, which naturally makes it difficult if only one of us has access to the app (it’s stated to be an individual subscription). Giving that option would mean if we’re at the supermarket using the shopping list feature or cooking before the other gets home we don’t get stuck. Simple fix but would make commercial sense too and we’d paid an extra couple quid if we both got access! Just a thought. Otherwise great app though!
Disappointing
No meal planning as advertised, it’s basically a recipe app with a shopping list section, where you can create a shopping list for each week or whatever - that’s not a meal planner! Some of the recipes do look good but nothing really better than other, free things that I already use

Brilliant recipes
Genuinely has transformed the way I think about cooking. I’m all about saving time and energy where I can and using the batch cooking methods has been fantastic. Recipes are really good and even though I will always put my own twist on something (or adjust it to suit my family’s taste the base recipes and ideas of how to change the meal so you’re not just eating the same meal twice has been brilliant, thank you
Why did they bother?
I use the phone app and so was excited to see the Mac one, larger page, easier to use, better than the website? Hell no, it’s a mobile reproduction, tiny screen and somehow even worse than if I was looking at it on an iPhone 5! Utterly pointless, if you going to do it, do it properly
Missing Meal Plannner
The recipes, shopping list feature, and general minimalist layout are all fantastic. The ability to swap out ingredients with the suggested alternatives is a great idea and so convenient. However, the lack of actual meal planning assistance is a real letdown. A calendar where you can organise your weekly meals and allocate certain days to cook and plan your week ahead is missing. I believe the website (not the app) has a “planner” where you can drag what daily meal you want over the period of one week, but it’s not very helpful. This app is great for simple, healthy recipes, however for the price I’d expect more in terms of managing and planing your diet. Is overpriced for what you get.
great recipes not so great app
Love the recipes and shopping list feature but the app itself is so glitchy and slow it is almost impossible to use!
Not suitable for dietary limitations
I entered no gluten and no peanuts into the filter and recipes still came up containing both. There’s also not as much variety as expected.

Great idea; zero for implementation
App looks promising. However on use the meal planning functionality did not seem to be available as advertised. Secondly while cooking (even when using the cooking mode) had to make sure to keep interacting with phone as if phone goes to sleep not only do you need to wake phone you then need to search for the recipe you are cooking. Thirdly, appears to be a companion website, but anything you do on the website (even when logged in) directs you to the app - but no link or anything; just open app and start from scratch. Really disappointed. This showed so much promise but implementation is such that I can’t justify paying subscription, nor justify recommending. Hopefully developers will get their act together and actually provide the app and functionality they are selling. However currently it is snake oil for your starter….
Opportunity for improvement
I like the concept and bought in for clarity on the macros. I would really like more guidance on the app. The ability to convert between imperial and metric ingredients measures. Clearer guidance on nutrition and macros - is it per serving or the whole recipe?
Unable to meet basic dietary restrictions
It does state that it does not have the ability to remove certain products and provide replacements based on dietary requirements, but just to reiterate it doesn’t, I used this app maybe twice and paid 50£ ironically to save money. There are better apps out there
Food for the eyes
Some good recipes but a lot miss the mark for me. The recipes look tasty but fail to impress on a lot of occasions. Upon tasting I found some ingredients did not complement each other, a couple of times the sauce/marinade were overpowering. It’s not a bad app but requires some optimisation to smooth out the frustrating glitches. There are some really great recipes which I return to but they are in the minority. I’m not sure if I will renew my subscription.

Sort out your subscription service
Useless. The subscription only ever works on one device, and even that one is unreliable. The app and site consistently prompt us to start a free trial or start a paid subscription, despite having a fully paid subscription already. It feels like a scam, being unable to use something we regularly pay for.
Could do with some tweaks
I really like a lot of the recipes, but the nutrition filtering needs improving. I was looking for high-protein, high-fibre meals around 500 kcal, and combining those filters returned zero recipes. Yet when I manually browsed I found recipes with 50 g+ protein. It seems the filters don’t reflect the nutrition database very well. One of the main reasons I wanted to try this app is to reduce decision fatigue and make meal planning easier. It would be fantastic if users could set target ranges for calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat and fibre (for example, 40–60 g protein and 450–550 kcal) and have recipes ranked by how closely they match. That would make the app much more useful for anyone tracking nutrition, wanting to manage and log macros or trying to reduce meal-planning overwhelm
Wants money up front before showing you anything
I couldn't get started with this app. It wants you to pay for a subscription before even showing you what it can do. I've no problem paying for a good service but I need more than promises to go on.

Don’t sign up with this app unless you’re happy to have your bank account dipped into without your consent. Signed up for a 7 day trial and they instantly billed me. Nothing at checkout to say I was being billed, no email or communication to advise they had taken money from me or even to confirm my account was set up. Just dipped into my account. I went on the website to cancel today as it doesn’t suit me and realised what they have done. I’m waiting to hear from customer service before I dispute it with my credit card. So disgusted that they con people like this. Edit: I have spoken with customer service who have advised I will be getting a refund.
Great recipes and app
Great recipes shopping and cooking mode for the app. There is some weird bug where cooking mode won’t pick the adjusted portion for recipes. Or it does after several retries
No good for allergies
Good concept, but only useful if you have no food intolerances or allergies whatsoever. Only asks you if you’re vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian. Nothing about dairy free, or gluten free, or ability to select individual ingredients as issues. Instead you’d have to check each individual recipe which defeats the purpose of saving time. Disappointing.

Only complaint is that the serving adjuster does not work correctly.

Great recipes. Decent discovery mechanism. Interface is for toddlers. Drives me round the bend. I’m going to cancel subscription and buy their books.
Amazing
This is such an amazing app. Easy to search, save and use. Push of a button and the screen stay awake whilst cooking (saves the screen getting sticky marks)! One of my most used apps!!!

I want to love it..
The UX is great. Look, feel, etc great! The recipes also, great! But the generated Ingredients lists never seemed to match the Method. I made the “honey garlic chicken” for two people, followed the directions to a T. Ended up with spicy lime chicken instead. Then I noticed several recipes with inconsistent lists. So I’m cancelling - for now… I’d love to come back when it’s more consistent.
Low-mid at best
Seems like a relatively decent app, but considering that it’s 100% AI having a compulsory monthly or yearly charge is ridiculous

I like the aesthetic and concept, and really good filter functions, but the app does crash a lot even after the recent update

Non functional on devices other than phones
I pay money for the mob recipes subscription. I now am forced to use the app which doesn’t function on my Mac and forces me to use my phone which I do not want to do. Who builds an app that doesn’t function on a desktop in this day and age.
Family function?
Great, easy to use app, recipes look great. I plan meals for a family of four. As I share purchases on my Apple Account, can my family members access the same account so they can choose recipes and I can coordinate/ buy/ cook?
Loved it until…
Absolutely loved this app until they charged me twice for an annual subscription. The second 3 months after the first payment. The second payment didn’t go through, I questioned it and they cancelled my subscription. Sent them proof that I had already paid and they stopped responding. Gutted as was really helpful planning meals in this postpartum period! Shame their customer service isn’t as good as the app 🙁
Good recipes but shopping list doesn’t work
I share a subscription with my partner and for the most part the app works fine but the ingredient shopping list between our two phones is always out of sync both with what ingredients are displayed and what is ticked off. Extremely frustrating has resulted in a missing ingredients multiple times.
Changed my life (Honestly)
This app has changed our lives, the recipes are insane and the app is so so easy to use. I just enter the ingredients into the Ocado app and my weekly shop is done and planned. Some of the recipes are phenomenal, things I could never dream of creating myself. Thanks MOB!
Doesn't work
'The app has experienced a problem. Please restart.' Have restarted, reinstalled, still same error message. Latest iOS, latest app version. Logging in with Apple account.
Good recipes but not for US audience
I really like the recipes and content but all of the measurements use UK / metric. When you select imperial / US units in the settings, the conversion is shown in ounces (oz) instead of the expected tablespoons, teaspoons, and cups. It’s a lot of extra work to convert again before shopping and cooking.
Limited choice
Pictures look great but you can’t state food items not to include and there no ‘view all’
Great idea - but lots of glitches
I’ve had so many issues with both the app and website. I’ve had to update the app, delete and re-download and I still have issues both logging into my account with all of my saved recipe data and even just accessing the app. The last couple of weeks I just get continuous blank screens or get locked out of recipes even though I am subscribed. I try and go on the website to bypass the phone glitches and that won’t log me into my paid account. Really disappointed, but when it works it was great to never have to think about what I was going to cook

Needs OS improvements
The recipes are excellent and images are great, but the recipes/shopping list page has been a bit buggy with deleting recipes, esp with syncing. The search function could be improved and an iPadOS version would be great because a lot of people use iPads when cooking.
Needs videos for recipes
I, like most people I’m sure, found mob through social media. It’s packed full of loads of great recipes. Unfortunately, there doesn’t currently seem to any feature to have videos of the recipes being cooked available. As a visual learner, my favourite way to cook is by watching others. Given so many of the recipes have videos on social media, please consider this feature.
Not many batch recipes
The recipes are good. A lot of them require quite a bit of time and many, many ingredients. So, not for those looking for convenience. It also advertises as a batch cooking option and they don't have as many recipes as you'd expect and a good portion are vegetarian. Videos would be great or at least add the name of recipes to Instagram posts (some don't have it).

I always find something that I want to cook and and can trust the at it works. Lots of variety and still really easy
Impossible to cancel free trial
I tried to cancel via the website (doesn't allow this in the app), but the links weren't working. I emailed them ahead of the deadline but was still charged for the year. I have emailed subsequently to complain but all Emails are ignored.
Good app but needs more toddler recipes.
I was attracted to the batch meal system. Cooking a base and then having variations on the base. I was under the impression via the onboarding process that there was recipes variants for toddlers. But when you select the toddler filter there are none. Perhaps in time there will be. It’s a good app though. Easy to use. Functional.
Love the website but…
The new meal plan view it’s not working. You can’t see from the main list the overview of the recipe, the ingredients for each recipe or the time that it takes. It was best as it was before or the way the website used to work was just perfect. If it ain’t broken, don’t change it!
Great but the app needs work
Huge fan of all the mob recipes, we use them regularly, however the app is so glitchy that I no longer use it and just use the browser to access via the mob website instead.
