I Can’t Recommend Blackmagic Cam for the iPhone 13 Pro
I used Blackmagic Cam on an iPhone 13 Pro, and it was a huge disappointment. The biggest issue is the stabilization. It only works intermittently, and because of that it ruined multiple shots for me. Even when the stabilization does kick in, it’s still noticeably worse than the stabilization in Apple’s built-in Camera app. The footage ends up looking less smooth and less stable. Another major problem is audio recording. If I’m wearing AirPods, the app keeps ignoring my microphone selection. No matter how many times I set it to use the iPhone’s built-in microphone, after every other clip Blackmagic Cam switches back to the AirPods microphone on its own. This makes the app completely unreliable for recording video. The maximum video bitrate is also too low, even at the highest quality setting. The resulting video quality simply isn’t good enough, especially in more demanding scenes. Overall, this is a terrible app that ruined important footage for me. On the iPhone 13 Pro, ProMovie is far more reliable and predictable. Stabilization works consistently, the selected microphone stays selected, and the overall recording experience is much better. I can’t recommend Blackmagic Cam to iPhone 13 Pro users based on my experience.
One of the Greatest
Thank you so much for this app. It’s just so good for shooting something in iPhone. Unfortunately, I do have one problem with it: in my 17 pro max I’m faced with a great overexposure when I’m out on the sunny day. ISO is minimum, 24 FPS and 48 shutter speed, WB is okay. Whatever color space or codec I use it’s all the same. Not the camera issue ether since all other apps work just fine. It started ~25days ago, before this everything was great.

Trying to love this app, but...
I'm trying to move from MoviePro to this app, but there a couple of crucial features missing. 1. No easy way to record straight to camera roll (only). It should be a menu selection. 2. No way to record from the front and rear camera at the same time. MoviePro will produce two separate files. 3. No easy way to offer suggestions. You need to be a rocket scientist to use the BlackMagic website. Making things more complex is easy. Making complex things simple... that's the hard part (as Apple has so brilliantly showed us for years).

Focus lock
The focus lock is not working properly. When I lock the focus, it keeps getting released. The focus lock feature simply doesn’t work as expected.
Camera Remote needs to be fix
This apps is 5 stars as a stand alone app .. I been trying for days to use my iPad as a monitor and my iPhone as a camera .. does not work says video feed is not support .. what lease fix this or atleast make it simple to get it done

I love this app and everything behind it, but there’s one issue. It may just be me but my camera won’t flip. It’s just stuck in selfie mode. I reset the settings, logged out and back in, shut my phone off completely, but it won’t fix it. Please help! 🙏🏼

1. Your app icon blows. I could fix this for you in an afternoon and would do it for free. Right now it looks like a fisher price baby toy icon 2. We need to find a way to contact Apple and get them to release an API (easier said than done) for auto exposure while the shutter speed is locked. I move from bright to dark scenes often and need this feature! It’s the last piece of the puzzle

Needs to Support Atomos Time Code
Can’t use this app because it doesn’t support my Atomos time code unit. Not a fan of the options this app does support.

The remote control functions have stopped working.
Ok and about as good as it will get
Pretty good app and probably about as close to pro as one can get though still not quite there. Still surprisingly not good considering black magic whose products are very good. No control over picture profile. Included luts are just bad. Icons are weird. Use of sliders def isn’t pro should be able to just dial it in. Focus peaking doesn’t really show even under strong light.

Volume Levels Need gain control for Phone Mic
The iPhone app doesn’t have a gain control except for when you have an external mic plugged in. And what happens is your iPhone mic gain will be all the way up with no control. Would like to see a future update with a pro volume audio control for any mic whether built in or external.
Best camera app for filming videos
All the settings can be a bit daunting at first but nothing a few simple Google searches can't fix. It truly unlocks your phone! If you want to do anything that required full control of your camera settings this is the app for you. All that said, it would be nice if I could take still photos (I just set it to time laps and extract the frame in post, lol)
Good, but they gotta fix the measuring storage issue
Overall this app is really good! Gets past the trashy Apple over sharpening, does its use really well overall. But it measures your available storage just completely and totally wrong! It says I have approximately 0.22 of storage left, when in fact I have at least 3gb of space left, at the least! Anyways, good app with some major bugs.

I’m a Hack but this all makes me feel cool
My iPhone says no when I try to zoom so I use BlackMagic to make it work. Awesome software completely free. It’s what pros use. They basically had to build the software to power their hardware so they give it away. Nothing even shady about the free software. How often can you say that in 2026?
