Wow, you finally cleaned up the app after month of complaining about how bad the “New Version” of the app is. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. I’m trying to be positive, but with a lot of bottles to manage I need a system that worked. I will give this new version a run for its money… and I wil see. Staying positive!

Very helpful
Looking forward to improvements in the receipt upload and bottle recognition algorithms. Also, being able to delete bunk receipt uploads in their entirety would be very handy – having to delete one entry at a time is pretty cumbersome. But all in all, a very useful cellar management application.
Barcode consumption bug still infuriating
I have been using this app for many years. Yes it’s great to be able to store and monitor your Wine cellar. Every quarter I would do a stock take and for some reason I would be way out … bottles that I had consumed were still listed. I now find out this is a bug and has been known about for years and it’s still not fixed!! How hard can it be? I spend hours every quarter reconciling something that I have an app that’s supposed to do that.

It’s just very clunky. Hard to see how much a bottle of wine costs before consuming it. The update made it MORE difficult to Consume. Why???

Sold as a great free app. Get the app and majority of functions are locked out unless you pay. False advertising.
Unable to add wines
I downloaded the app and started to add wines. Intermittently, when I fill in all the info and press “Add to Cellar” I get a pop-up that says “Unable to save. Please try again”. Cellar tracker got back to me. As usual it was a problem between the seat and the keyboard. My only further comment would be better error messages to explain what was wrong. I am updating my rating based on excellent customer service.
UX Update Fail
Add back the vintage blocks when you first search a wine. New interface is much slower bc you have to click in to select vintage
Good for Grocery Store Wines
Seven of the first ten wines we tried were not in their database. These were from reputable vineyards in Napa. More of a limited or family reserve type wines. The ones it did have in their database were more common and commercially available everywhere. I need an app that can help me with the wines where the information about them—such as drinking window and value—is more scarce. Turns out, this is not that app.
Best wine tracking database I have ever used
This is by far, the best database I have ever used to track my wine collection over several wine lockers in many locations. It is very easy to customize for what I need and the integration with other wine sites and professional wine connoisseurs is nothing less than excellent.
App is trash

Functionally it’s excellent but the UI has some some quirks and it’s quite expensive if you have a larger collection.
Dec 2025 / Jan 2026 Update
One of the worst updates for a phone from the users POV. Thank god they added the search bar back to the top of the app. When you search a wine, the small vintage blocks are gone. Bring those back. Also, when you click into a wine, you’re now given “Popular Vintages”. Who asked for this?! This appeals to a much smaller audience than, say, “Recent Vintages”. The UI for vintages was so much better before, please revert back…please.

Useful I guess but extremely hard to operate. Legacy version was better.

Just put in a wine cellar. So nice to see what we have!!! I really like that I am able to comment on my wine and recreate the ambiance or not. Cheers to the App Creators🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Infuriating to use
I could go on and on about why this app is insanely poorly designed and maintained, but I'll try to keep it short and structured. Firstly, the app is insanely slow. It's not responsive, with lag time up to a few seconds at time, probably due to how inefficient the database queries are. Secondly, it is littered with weird bugs, like how some of my user-created stores keep getting deleted, and once it does get deleted, every wine that I labelled with said store gets turned into default, which is "Taste". I thought this was rather unacceptable. Same with how sometimes when writing a review, the whole review writing block gets pushed all the way up and gets stuck there, which does not let you see what you're writing. The list is quite literally endless. Thirdly, there's not enough useful features, not like those AI bs which I despise, but stuff like sorting every list in my wishlist (not sorting the wines within each list themselves). Or how there's no user ratings at all, unless you make a public rating/review ish about it. There should absolutely be a private rating, for sure. And what about deleting or editing a store? God this app is in the 2000s era for how much it refuses to evolve over the years, in terms of actual usefulness. And yes, the list goes on. Finally, editing a wine entry requires FARRR too many clicks. The UI needs some serious reevalution imo. Rather than making things look fancier, maybe focus on real utility. But beyond that, focus on fixing the lag, bugs, and unresponsiveness. I'm honestly surprised this gets all the rave and so far I can't find much criticism anywhere, not on reddit, forums, not on here, not anywhere. This app, as far as good apps go, is such a seriously bad one. I'm already too committed to this at this point, and my wine lists are growing with too many details attached. But I wish I had picked a different one from the get go. This pops my vein the majority of the time. And considering I'm a paid member, please fix the app, thanks.
Awesome customer service!
My husband and I have been using this app to manage our wine for years. We each loaded the app to our phones and signed on under his user id and password. All of a sudden that wouldn’t work. He could get in but I couldn’t. Even tried deleting app and reloading and changing the password. My husband reached out via the app to them and got a response in less than 24 hrs. After a few emails back and forth they figured out the problem was the new VPN I had just loaded to my phone. Super impressed!!
Old Version Was Much Better
Buggy, counterintuitive, user-unfriendly, if you start writing a review and switch apps whatever you typed disappears and the app regresses to some other screen. Subscribed / paid Wine Market Journal plug-in data doesn’t work any more. The new app is backwards and confusing. This used to be much better.
Camera disoriented on iPad
The app works better on iPad than it used to, but the camera does not orient correctly in landscape mode, so I have to turn the bottle sideways, and try to move it to get it in view, which is tricky. Also I wish after adding a bottle there was a quick way to get back to either adding another bottle or the Home Screen, instead of back back back. This is why I still usually use the old version…
So slow to use
I have used CT since 2011. I keep ~5k bottles. I have always supported the app, but they ask for $$$ that varies greatly with # of bottles. Storage is cheap. Processing is expensive. I don’t use the AI function because I have never gotten anything valuable from a prompt. The prices go up too fast for the number of bottles. The new app is still harder to use than the old one. For example, if I have an active filter going (like Bordeaux with a certain price and vintage) and then my wife wants a Skipstone, so I want to search for her. Then I have to clear the filter which takes a few clicks. And then I’ve lost that filter. 1. Let us save the filters so we can get to active filters we use often 2. Just give me a quick search of my cellar without having to clear my filters for viewing my cellar. I keep trying the new app and then go back to the old one.
So Great
This software is so clearly made by people who care about the software itself and wine. It’s flexible where it needs to be while still having reasonable opinions. Just a joy to use, reasonably priced as well.
Rude Customer Service
I was trying out a couple of apps and decided to go with another one over this one. I requested to have my account deleted but my phone froze/glitched and I wasn’t sure it submitted so I completed the form again. I then receive the most rude customer service response I think I’ve received from any company (see quoted email below since it won’t let me upload a screenshot). Needless to say, I’m glad I didn’t want to keep this app in the first place because why would anyone want to support a company who employs people like this. “You are purged. Why are you sending an account removal request again after 1 minute? We literally say "Thank for your patience. We will get back to you soon to remove your CellarTracker account." It is Saturday night. It is done. Amazing.”
Awesome functionality, needs vivino level polish
Awesome app that takes wine collecting to a deeper level than Vivino does, the best for anyone building a cellar in my opinion and I have tried a few. The only thing I wish this app had was the polished Vivino style interface that presents the bottle image and other features better.
Used to be great
The old version was way more information rich and convenient. The new one is a tangle of links. Not possible to scan numbers like it was so convenient to do previously. App developer blew this assignment.
Easy way to keep track of my wine!
Honestly haven’t found a better way to track wine I buy (and need to let age). It lets me sort by drinking window, not just varietals or name!
Bad UX design—shame, shame, shame.
The CellarTracker app was obviously due for an update, but this is all form and no substance. Think about users using their phones with one hand. Having a search button at the bottom of the page, then a search bar all the way at the top, I find myself scrolling up and down a lot needlessly—a problem I didn’t have with the old app. Also, where are the pro reviews? I can’t see whether Jancis or Decanter have reviews for relevant wines anymore, even though I subscribe and always want to know what they have to say, so now I have to do three separate searches. Such an incredible fail—as a longtime user, I’m just furious that you messed this up so badly, and hope you’ll fire the person in charge. Clearly didn’t take time to understand the nuances of how CellarTracker provided a good and worthwhile experience for users.
The best tool for tracking
CT remains the greatest tool for managing your cellar, though the new app lacks a few of the neat tricks of the old one. It would be nice to regain the quick-view of pro scores, when browsing through vintages, without having to open a detailed view of every vintage.

Recent update is a huge step backwards
I’ve been a happy customer of CellarTracker for years and had been happy with the older app. But the new updated app iworks completely differently than the website and is nearly unusable. I amusing the website in a browser rather than he app on my iPad because it’s so bad.

Disappointing
I had good expectations, but: the interface is clunky and slow, you end up recording more bottles as you are not sure they were in the first time, then deleting it becomes a chore, as you need to do it one by one. The value calculations are wrong…. That is weird as it is a simple multiplication. My third bottle I tried to upload, it just sent an erro message saying “unable to upload” I had to delete them and redo it twice. Sorry, not a good experience for me. I was ready to pay the extra $ for the pro version but will certainly not do so now.

Looks better and more modern but where are the prices I bought the bottles for?

The new app is a lit more sluggish to use when entering a lot of bottles. The bar-code scanner does not work on my phone. The older looks dated but runs smoother
My Cellar Manager
It’s not like I have an extensive cellar, but I have enough bottles that I couldn’t keep track of what I have without writing down dates and drinking windows and other information in a notebook. Even then I couldn’t sort or seek. This tells me everything I need to know in a compact, portable, and digital form. I love the convenience but also being able to access the community for their thoughts on a wine.
Backwards
They took and antiquated app and made it harder to use. The old app may have been old but it did work. Now, it’s functionality worse. Multiple screens and actions to consume a bottle. Multiple screens to rate and find a wine in your cellar. Used to be one screen. And now ownership is having Apple delete multiple unfavorable reviews, instead of working with their loyal customers. Horrible. That’s unethical and nefarious. I am done with this company and filing a complaint with the BBB and Apple.
Can’t switch the currency
We sould be able to see the cellar value into different curency … For example : I mostly buy wine in CAD… but the value of my cellar is in USD …
