A brilliant App for the family
Have used 23 snaps for a long time , it's been absolutely fantastic to post and receive photos of our family and friends , holidays , birthdays and school events and also able to leave your comments on the photos for them . Wonderfull staff and technical who can help you with any problems ..
Was great until it wasn’t
I have used this app to share photos of our son with family and close friends for 9 years. It worked great at the beginning and was free. It then became a paid monthly subscription but I kept going with it because it was a convenient way to share photos to a small select group and I had everyone set up on it. It has had kinks along the way with uploading in the past but they typically get resolved. I have been trying to upload photos for over 2 weeks with the app quitting on me every time and never fully processing. I reached out to customer service, they have followed up and requested additional info which I provided but there has not been a fix, offer of a credit or any other follow up. I would suggest looking at alternative photo sharing options.
Great but question video quality & order
Great app however pls ensure the photos are uploaded in the order I select them. Also the video quality for premium member has never looked like high quality - always blurrier than what it appears in my phone album.
Shuts down too much
Nothing like choosing the best 20 pics in a camera roll to then have the app blink off. Aunties complain it happens to them when trying to comment. Isn’t that the whole purpose of this app? Customer service is back and forth and ultimately useless. I have a paid subscription, also.
Frustrating
We’ve had this app for years, and it took some time to get all family etc on board, but been a great option to have a closed network. However a consistent problem has been they dont allow stories or posts to save as drafts, and I’d say 1/ 4 times you spend time on a post and then it just disappears! Very frustrating.
Best for privacy and family
We’ve used 23snaps for approximately 10 years. Email digests to friends and family stand out. No need or risk of sharing anything publicly on a social media service just to get photo updates to your closest family and friends. No need to do tech support for older family members to learn how to use an app. We use the app regularly ourselves to find older photos from trips using the Collections feature.
All useful features are now paid
This app had already basically been abandoned. Attempting to monetize it by locking every basic feature behind a paid subscription while rolling out zero new features is nothing short of betrayal. Shame on you. Avoid this classless company at all costs.
Love this app but recent update is buggy
This app is awesome. It’s basically my journal of my kiddo & it’s private. I pay a subscription to use it. Lately tho, I select photos to upload & it freezes the app. I have to reselect them & go again. Usually works the second time. If you have a lot of photos tho, it’s frustrating.
Disappointed with update
I’ve used this app for 4 years ever since our first child was born and have LOVED it for sharing memories with our family. But the recent update only allows you to share one photo at a time unless you’re paying for premium which is a huge disappointment for us. Not sure if we’re going to keep using. If they can change it back we will otherwise we’ll be looking for a new way to share photos.
They don’t prevent login sharing so anyone can share their login info
The concept is great, and this is one of the better ones I’ve seen. However, they don’t stop people from sharing login credentials, so people can just share that with anyone else and then the whole thing is just kind of not worth it. The good being that they don’t sell your info (at least that’s what they say), and they make sharing images between family easy. Only other gripe I have is I do wish there was a way to have a title for each shared collective of images instead of only allowing a caption for each individual image.
Family
Love seeing pics and videos of my kids and grandson that live far away
Freezes
All my other apps are working just perfectly fine. When I open 23 Snaps, it shows the start page and then I touch on the first picture and it displays that picture then freezes. Can’t do anything else. Must swipe up to shutdown. (iPhone 14 Pro with 18.3.1)
Great but
Great app. Been using it for years….then it updates and I need to pay to upload multiple images. Little bit annoyed to say the least. As you have forced me to pay due to my wider family using it now (just to view my pictures) Feel like I’ve been fish hooked.
Rude to charge for this
This used to be perfect and free. Then one day it became not free. Considering it’s an app used to connect families and for a lot of baby pictures, this seems pretty rude. Especially for loyal users. Why not charge new users but reward former ones?
Good, not Great
I’ve used this app for over a year now. It has two glaring flaws. 1. The news feed is not in chronological order by the dates user indicates. It’s chronological by the day the user input them into the feed. The user can put in entries after an event happened, set the date it happened, but the app will not reorder the timeline of events to match the date the user set. 2. The printed books the app can generate from the general newsfeed are missing any text the user puts into the app to tell the story behind the pictures. If the user is trying to utilize the app as a journal, it’s pointless to print a hard copy book of the general newsfeed as it will not contain any written information. The pros: Yes, it does allow the user to limit access to whoever they want to see their content. Its is fairly simple to use. Viewers of the user’s content can make comments about the entries.
As grandparents, we love this!
As many pics as you want to send of our grandchildren, we will enjoy them all. A secure way for parents to do this. We love it!
Used to be great
I am so disappointed that I can now only upload one photo at a time unless I pay for premium. I used to love easily sharing a few photos or a video to just my family, but now I’m going to have to find a new way to share.
Still the best
My family has been using 23Snaps for 9 years and we love it! Even with the recent changes to the free vs premium features, this is our go to app and I will gladly pay the $4 per month to share safely and securely with family and friends. However, forcing people to upgrade by downgrading the free plan features is a bit of a low blow. I would prefer to see more value in the paid plan to make the upgrade more enticing. Here are some improvements I would love to see (available only on the premium plan): - Gif support - Dark mode - Longer videos - Text formatting - More reaction options - Ability to mix video and images on a single upload - Better formatting on Stories
Killed by premium plan
I absolutely loved 23snaps and have been a beta tester since I downloaded 3 years ago. It had a great free plan and my immediate and extended family used it daily to share and comment on family videos and photos (the 2 stars are for what 23snaps once offered and a few things they still offer). But then 23snaps severely hacked access to key basic features available in the free plan and are forcing a very poorly thought out premium plan to regain access. With their new free plan, they chopped the already limited video length from 60 secs to 10 secs (what is this, Vine??). They also now limit you to uploading only 1 photo at a time, so goodbye uploads from family trips. There's also reduced resolution in your uploads. Two things that are really frustrating about a move like this: 1) Rather than increase value in their premium plan to actually draw customers to it voluntarily, they are instead inflicting pain on their existing customers to coerce them into paying for premium. Not a great way to retain users or increase paying customers. 2) This is a family photo/video app but they don't have family premium plans. This means that every single user in your family has to buy their own premium plan to be able to get the basic features that they used to have - if I buy a premium plan, I'll be able to upload 2 or more photos at a time but my wife cannot. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do for family photo and video sharing and management. I've discovered a number of great alternatives out there that are free or really understand how to offer real additional value that makes premium plans worth it, but all of my memories of the past three years (since my first child was born) are now trapped in 23snaps. I'd much rather stick with 23snaps rather than migrate my whole extended family to another app, and I would've even become a paying customer if the value was worth it and the plans were family-oriented, but this move to squeeze their free users is probably going to push me to find a better, long-term solution.
Lost features - used to love, now disappointed
This was a FANTASTIC app for us to communicate with my adopted sons birth family. However, they recently began requiring a “premium” upgrade to upload multiple photos at once. This is super disappointing. Going from being able to upload multiples to not isn’t sitting well. Exploring new options. Sad because I used to rave about 23 Snaps to other adoptive families.
Great
Just the best for child photos. No need for over sharing on social media - all the family can enjoy this way
Don’t think this is a free app
I’ve been using this app for several years and they are CONSTANTLY reducing functionality unless you pay for premium. So be aware the features you have when you start using it and advertised as free now may not be there after a few months. Notably the length of the videos you can upload keeps decreasing to now 10 seconds. I predict any video sharing will soon be part of the paid membership. Feels like bait and switch to advertise as a free app with certain features then over the course of developing a photo history on it those features are reduced. I still use the app but do not trust it and only recommend if the buyers are aware that the free side features will be reduced. If you buy premium, the cost in my opinion based on how the free side is managed will likely increase frequently.
Decent app but one big miss I wish they’d fix
I used to use lifecake to share my daughter’s pictures with family and thought it was brilliant! However when Canon sadly closed it and the developers replaced it with a very expensive alternative, I turned to 23 snaps. Lots of really nice features like logging weight etc and I like that there aren’t stupidly short character limitations on photo description like some other apps, however there is one pretty big issue for me. Whilst the app is great to use from a ‘parent’ perspective, anyone on the receiving end of the photos gets really poor access to the photos as they can only view them through the news feed and don’t have a gallery style view. Developers- please make a family gallery view available to friends so they can see all photos chronologically as they have been taken. This would make the app 5 star for me!
Over commercialising
This app has been very good but recently they have been commercialising and putting more functionality behind a paywall. Might need to find an alternative as I don’t need another subscription. I prefer the photo book service they provide but it’s all a bit much to expect a subscription and for us to order photo books.
Use to be great once
Sooo…I started using this app in 2015 and it was a fabulous way to share life updates with family members near and far (as opposed to inundating the masses on Facebook🙄) THEN over the years they’ve added new features and higher resolution upload qualities for a fee, as opposed to being free. Ok, that’s fair. I personally don’t need another app subscription, and as a graphic designer I manage my own photos/videos anyhow. Then it became “Oh, you can no longer upload a video that’s longer than 1 minute, unless you subscribe to Pro.” Ugh. Ok, whatever. Guess I’ll trim certain vids to a minute. Again, not worth updating to Pro for me. NOW, the free plan only allows a 10 second video upload. TEN SECONDS!! I mean, c’mon 🤦♀️ I understand making money and all, but that’s ridiculous. Back to sharing iCloud albums for this mama! Juice ain’t worth the squeeze.
Brilliant App
Have been using this app for 4 years now and it is brilliant. Great for sharing photos and videos with a select audience of close family and friends.
Used to be a fan
Loved this app as my little one grew. Haven’t used it as much recently. Went to post some photos in it only to find out you can’t post multiple photos at the same time anymore with the premium membership? Greedy Greedy Money grab.
Backup
A nice app - would be good to have option to save directly to the cloud instead of the phone... is this possible?
Latest update is greedy
I love 23snaps and have been happily using it for 4+ years. However, the latest update limits uploads to one photo at a time instead of 20, and videos to 10 seconds instead of a minute. It’s laughable. There’s no way I’m going to move all of my friends/family to a new app, but I’m also not going to recommend this to anyone anymore.
It’s pretty good but needs more attention
I have been a premium member for a couple years now. My primary social journaling app is telegram but I copy my posts to 23snaps for redundancy. Updates are slow to happen and they don’t seem to have a wow factor. It’s a decent app, but there are some annoying things about it. For example, you can’t include videos in your stories (only photos). You can add them separately as their own thing, but it’s not attached to a story entry so it loses its context. Why? You also can’t write a single entry that is what would call a normal journal entry’s worth of writing. They have this odd model where you have to create multiple text entries. It’s just strange ux. One feature I would like to see is the ability to export everything as a PDF. That way I could make physical copies of my life story.
Favorite family photo app
23snaps have been our go-to family app for last 10 years. It’s one safe, dedicated place for all our family photos and videos. Friends and family members can see the latest updates of our kids away from the clutter of social media. It’s familiar and easy to use even for less tech savvy grandparents.
Whoa! P.O’d doesn’t begin to describe…
I am a premium user forced into it after using free since 2014 or 15. Had been wonderful in the past, but since I wanted to add more than one pic at a time I paid up. Things were fine until recently when I updated to latest OS for iPhone. NOW: I can’t open photos, there’s a weird first screen that’s all jumbled with no pics showing and I can’t see the columns of pics fully-each side is cut off. BUT to add insult to injury: NOW I can’t even open any pics up! So I thought that there might be a work around by using web version. NO DICE! Can’t open pics! PLEASE FIX APP and web access! Also: no such thing anymore of downloading pics from app or website to cameral roll. What gives?
A private way to collect memories
It's a great concept and the execution is pretty good. The problem is that it is primarily designed to make money. Nothing unreasonable about that as such and the app makers are pretty restrained in their approach so it is quite unobtrusive. I mention that because it limits some aspects of the app which would make it far better such as an export function, or a print to pdf etc... On the plus side I do love the app, it maintains privacy and allows access to those who you want to give access to!
Sad about recent changes
After lots of app research while pregnant to find the best app, I’ve been using this app since my daughter was born a couple years ago. It has allowed my to privately share pictures of my daughter with family and friends. When at an event and ready to share some photos, I was told I needed to pay to post more than one at a time. This was a sad discovery and one that doesn’t offer many plans to suit our budget. I don’t feel like I need premium…but we aren’t given other choices. For that price, I’d want better album making software/book options and more posting options (text, stickers, gifs).
Older version was more stable
The latest version keeps crashing when I try and scroll through my family pictures from a previous month. It’s also a lot slower at uploading photos in the way I do. I go into my photos and then share to 23snaps using an iPhone. Can these issues be fixed please? I love using this app but these two things are very frustrating.
10 years with this app
this is hands down the best digital photo app you can have. i got this app before my daughter turned 10 in 2013 and the past 10 years i have uploaded monthly her photos and love that i can look back at the photos and see how old she was based on the age settings that it shows in the details of each photo! i 10/10 recommend this app and it is so easy to download a zip file and download to any other device! greatest family digital photo album EVER!
Privacy
The app only works if you give them access to your entire photo library rather than you being able to choose select photos. For a company that pushes privacy, this is disappointing and I won’t be using this app anymore.
So far, so good
I've only just started using this app. So far, it seems safe, fun and easy to use. I really like the easy sharing of videos & photos with family overseas, and my kids love looking at it as a big digital photo book. I'm looking forward to seeing what else we can do with it...
Love the app but come on
I’ve used this app to share my child with family spread all over the country for years. Found out today you have to have a premium account to post more than one pic or a video longer than 10 seconds. Every company is price gouging people these days.
Struggled to get support in the past
Most of the time this app works wonderfully, but the few times I have needed assistance - support never replies. Today having issues where photos are disappearing and am unsure if anyone will get back to me
Almost perfect
We’re really loving using this app. It’s super easy to upload things and it makes sharing baby photos with friends and family a breeze. Overall it’s a great app with a really nice upload experience! Update: The only other minor issue we’ve found is that when you upload multiple photos, the order in which the photos are uploaded is not fixed (but the developers are working on this).
From free to $3.99/month
We’ve used 23snaps for 6 years, since my son’s birth. All the grandparents and great-grands love checking in, and I love the freedom to post pics of my son without worry about privacy… but now it’s going to cost us $48/year plus tax? If a medium tier of membership, or a [generously] discounted yearly rate was made available I’d consider that. I hate to have to make a switch on our less-tech-inclined family members, but we’ll figure something else out.
A great alternative to Facebook
This is the app for those who are sick of Facebook. Actually a great app to stay connected to those people that really matter to you. It gives you also a great photo album. Room for improvement include fixing problems on rearranging the order of photos in Story, properly combining added photos with the first ones in Story, and a way of changing the date when adding photo from another app.
Family love seeing photos
Great way to share family photos and have used for years but disappointed with how features disappear/get moved to premium membership with each update and disappointed with the proposal to limit posting multiple photos and further limits to video clips
It's ok, but missing a few things
Not really intuitive. Can multiple people access the same family member? I can't work it out...
Nice and individual
Love this app for keeping up with today’s pics
Used to be great
We have used the app for 4 years, but recent changes have left us looking for alternatives.
Love it
I don't have nor will I ever have facebook so this is the perfect alternative so our family and friends can watch our beautiful baby grow. I love how you can like comments and photos etc and I can add my family under my name so my partner can post pics and everyone sees it. It crashes here and there but Diddo
Crashes since downloaded latest ios
I love this app but since I downloaded the latest ios it crashes everytime I try and open it. I downloaded the update which was meant to deal with bugs but obviously not this one.
Great app - where are my notifications?
A wonderful app to stay connected with families and little ones. My family and I have all not been receiving our notifications recently. I've tried deleting and reinstalling as well as changing notifications via setting. Please fix ASAP!!
