So far so good
An enormous step backwards
To quote HL: “The re-design has been shaped by your feedback and built to support the way you manage your money - to make the app simpler, faster and more intuitive to use.” Entirely incorrect! Reviewing individual stocks in a portfolio is now more complicated, slower and less intuitive. You have to go through more clicks to get to the fact sheet - the one with live prices that used to be the first very useful thing you saw when you clicked on an investment in your portfolio. I don’t believe for a moment that the app was shaped by user feedback, otherwise this new version would have been strangled at birth. Someone in HL needs to tell their IT people to revert to the old version and to stop fiddling with a previously acceptable app.
Stop fiddling
I appreciate the range of products available - it’s amazingly broad. But: 1. Can we have an iPad app please and 2. Stop fiddling with the layout: the recent changes require far more clicks to drill in to individual holdings. A step backwards. Also 3. Be clearer on how long transactions will take: you have a reputation for being slower than other big platforms. There are times when I have no idea what’s happened to my trade and money has disappeared from my account but not reappeared as the adjusted position I’ve bought/sold.
Worse
Just updated my iPhone to this today and all I keep getting as technical issues and I can’t barely use it. It crashes in between pages when they eventually come up. It is very slow and it appears to be requiring an unacceptable amount of speed for the app to run, very annoying.
Simple, but flawed.
HL overall is great. And the app, on its face is good - simple and mostly easy to use. However, the app is ‘view only’ for all your accounts, so it’s effectively useless for managing them (investing, topping up, withdrawing etc). I can’t think of any similar service that operates this way. It’s like your banking app on your phone only allowing you to view your balances, but requiring you to log in on the browser to actually do anything meaningful. Hope to see this changed.
Struggling to Save the secret security number.
The website is frustrating. You can wriggle. The wreck is struggling. I need flexibility and Caroline Pratt is obstructive she gave me £150 to shut me up.
HL - Open your eyes
Read the feedback. Accept you have destroyed the functionality of the app. No one likes it. It used to be a clean UI now it’s a complete jumbled mess.
Very good
Very quick and easy to invest! Simple app, extremely happy with it, worth downloading!!
New dealing charges
Functions fine but move to a new provider for future investments since they added dealing charges
Awkward to switch share holdings
HL can make it awkward to sell. Sometimes I cannot even sell stuff I want out of through the app at any price. The app can make recommendations - these are often only good for a sponsoring fund manager. Research funds, shares and other instruments independently!
Awful changes to App
When you are reviewing your investments in a SIPP - almost the entire iPhone screen is now taken up with stuff that you do rarely (transfer pensions etc). The old interface was much better. They should have options to allow you to switch unwanted stuff off. It is now very irritating if your main activity is reviewing and managing your SIPP as a retired person having already consolidated pensions, as you have to keep scrolling past irrelevant stuff that you will never do EVERY time.
Ruined - now a noisy mess
Used to be a great clean looking, easy-to-use app with good functionality: ruined by bad idea of “progress”: now a noisy mess - I need to touch the screen too many times to find information I could previously view at a glance.
Can’t save in watchlist
Hiya, My first impression of the app is good, the app seems to work very well. The only thing to complain about is the inability to save funds, shares, etc., to a watchlist. An error message keeps showing up when trying to. Can you please fix the problem? Kind regards, Jordy
Refresh means app is much less easy to use and less informative
Title says it all. Why do people have to muck around with things? You can see much less information on single screens and cannot compare different holdings very easily. I can’t see what advantage has been achieved
New Investor
This app was recommended from a friend..I am new to investing so am looking forward to seeing how I get on..so far the app seems very user friendly Thank you
User Friendly
User friendly and trustworthy service
App frozen
Can’t log in, valuations not updated.
Premium prices, poor tech
Too many small bugs, too many intermittent issues. Private Equity is making the platform worse, and competition is safer, cheaper and more stable . Been with them for 15 years, slowly moving off
Do not like the new look app
I really think there are some elements of this app that have not been thought through fully. Used to be able to see the market price, now you have to dig in further. Another, irritating thing, often when I open the app up it will do Face ID and show my account. I do not want it to do this when it chooses to, only when I ask to log in. Sometimes I may want to use app features without logging in to my account. That’s just a couple of examples. Hopefully this will be updated further in the near future.
Excellent app!
I’ve been looking to invest for a while now, this app is really worthwhile and gives so much useful information to help me get started! :)
Old version better
Please revert back to the old app lay out. It was so much easier to see important info quickly all in one place instead of having to click individual stock links to view further detail. Not good if you're trying to trade quickly. It's too clunky and slow to view these details. The old version was straight forward and easy.
App “upgrade” is downgrade.
Clunky, over complicated and some features now do not work. e.g. Cannot view individual investment performance from portfolio.
New version is a big step backwards
The last iteration of the HL app was ideal. Live price able to be shown on the main page of an account, with date shown for funds so you could tell when they had been updated. New version seems to have removed these very useful features and now you have to click through individual holdings to find the details. Solid step backward for those who want to actually look at the details of their investments on a regular basis.
New features
The new features are really good, the trades execution is so quick
Mr C
The app was better before the new charges
Slow to update
The app is very poor as it never seems to update in real time
Paul roberts
Still ok but not as good as other platforms.
Updates
Not so clear now
Why oh why??
You have taken a perfectly working Simple but effective app and made it entirely dysfunctional. It is now a serious detractor to enjoying your service. The ux is now awful
Preferred the old look app
Preferred the old look app
Useful
Really handy and easy to use. It’s great
HL expect everybody to buy a new iphone
Ridiculous updated App. HL app no longer works on my iphone. Stupid to expect everybody to buy a new phone to use an app. Bye HL app
New versions is awful!
New version of the app is a massive downgrade, you can no longer deal directly from the portfolio listing, you cannot see live prices for both bid and ask, you have to click many more times to do the same task, it’s utterly rubbish! I don’t know what happened or if the team changed at HL but bring back the ‘classic’ style or at least the option to toggle it until these glaringly obvious problems are fixed! Did you do any beta at all??
App still locks on iPhone
Screen often locks out when viewing performance sheets and investment details When will this be fixed
Shocking
There is no way you have done comprehensive UX on this update. It’s absolutely dire. Been with you for 10 years + , seriously considering a change. No one in HL can honestly think this update is better, unless they have concussion.
Need portfolio value over time
They need to add a chart with portfolio value over time.
Trades
Too expensive !
App is rubbish.
HL seem to achieve the impossible every app update is worse than before. Gone from one of the best to the worst apart from MoneyFarm.
App is hit or miss
Been using the app for a few years and the performance is just getting worse and worse. I’ve now had to abandon the app at peak trading times as it just whirs round and round and you cant trade. Your best sticking to the website
