Way better than Apple Podcasts
This is way better than the stock Apple Podcasts app. Love its cross platform ability and its simplicity.
No Sort Capability in Search Results
App has no ability to sort episode search results by date which has been requested for 2 years. I don't want to scroll dozens and dozens of results trying to find more recent results.
Mittelmäßige Sonos Integration
Die App ist wesentlich übersichtlicher als die Apple Podcasts App. Man kann gut in Ordner sortieren. Super ist die direkte Integration in Sonos, um ohne Smartphone Podcasts zu hören. Hier könnte die Synchronisation von Hörfortschritt und Archivierung allerdings wesentlich besser werden.
Annoying
Why does the app beg for reviews even when the setting to do so is toggled off in iOS? Why does it beg for reviews when you’ve already given feedback?

Only app I've been regularly using for 10+ years
This is the only app I've never stopped using since first install. It went with me though numerous switches between ips and Android. Kept using it on the browser when working on the computer. Use it every single time I need to download a raw mp3 to put on some non-smart device. Just great!
Experience is horrible

Die App war sehr lange meine Lieblingsapp für Podcasts auf Android. Leider gibt es in der iOS Version keine Trennstriche in der Listenansicht und auch keine Option um den Podcastnamen in den Rasteransichten einzublenden. Es wäre schön wenn diese Sachen auch in der iOS App Einzug finden.

Their recent ux update basically ruined the app.
Not fan of the new UI hiding things
The new UI collapses the controls and hides things, requiring searching for things because their location changes, or is hidden until you press other buttons to expose them. Just give us a clean UI without hiding stuff.
It Just Works
The best thing about this app is that it’s stayed simple and it’s stayed stable. It actually just works. When you download something, it plays when you’re offline. Shocking, but true. Buttons generally work. Crazy in the modern era.
Single episodes
I download a single episode of a podcast that I don't subscribe to and it vanishes while taking up 62mb on my device. Where are the orphaned episodes? Do I need to delete Pocket Casts and start fresh with another app every 6 months to figure this out??
Best way to discover podcasts
Great app for podcast listening and discovery. Sometimes podcast progress between devices seems hit and miss and podcast album art sometimes goes blank in Apple CarPlay. Maybe Claude can help to fix those bugs? 🤖
UI regression
Not sure what the logic was for the recent update, the controls are now hidden and tiny, making the app borderline unusable
They Can’t Fix Their Own App
This app always has bugs in it. For the past 8 weeks, there’s been a bug that causes the phone app to not sync with the Apple Watch. The watch usually shows no podcast playing even when one is playing. Then, the controls on the watch never work and syncing ALWAYS fails. What’s worse is they either can’t or won’t fix it and I’m paying them for their incompetence. 8/4/26-Now I get notifications of new Episodes, but said new Episodes aren't available 😩
This app beats the brakes off of Apple Podcasts
There is so much more flexibility in terms of playback and sleep timer preferences, works much better with RSS feeds and even if you have a finicky RSS feed, you can upload your own audio files, essentially downloading a podcast from somewhere and publishing it as your own personal podcast. The auto-download is something I didn’t think I needed or wanted, but it is so clutch to find myself in a place with bad or no internet connection and I automatically know there’s an entire playlist of all my favorite shows’ most recent episode already downloaded and ready to to. Pocket Casts beach-slaps Apple Podcasts, beats it senseless, bends it right over the bathroom sink and forcibly penetr—- you get the picture
Pocket Casts Now Has Ads
This used to be the perfect podcast app. They now have ads across all podcasts, regardless of what you’re listening to. What an absolute disappointment.

I love pocket cast. This is best app for any podcast lover. I have one request though. In android when you open a show all the episodes comes up with artwork with them on the side. I have turned on the artwork option on the ios. It comes when I play the episode but not while I browse the episodes. It is not a big thing I know but makes the app even better. And since the feature exists in Android I believe it shouldn't be any hassle to you. Thank you for making this beautiful app.
Subscription Fishing
I’m enjoying this app and I’d really like to access the folders feature because it’s the only app my shows partner with that has this feature available, but I really don’t think that visually sorting my podcasts is worth $40+ a YEAR. The app is hard to navigate without this, but you’re grossly overestimating the value. If I could pay $10-15 ONCE, you’d have my money. But as it is, you have zero instead of even that.
Buggy interface
App just gives me an eternal loading animation when clicking on a podcast in search results. Podcast descriptions freeze the interface when expanded
Being patient with the developers goes a long way
App developers do take a lot of guff. I admit I might have thrown some around occasionally in reviews. However, after the recent issue about notifications and no episodes I had a really lovely email thread explaining what was going on and helping them fix the problem. I’ve always liked this app but them being communicative and embracing what I was saying gave me more respect for the app itself. For that reason, I’m went up from 4 to 5 stars.

It’s difficult to verify the playlist

This giant display of 4 podcast images above a playlist is just so unnecessary. On an iPhone 13 Mini, this giant image plus the buttons and search bar take up more than HALF of the screen real estate when viewing a playlist which is the view on screen 99% of the time. This giant header reduces the list to show just 3 episodes! You can't even tap on any of the four images to view the podcast it's showing. What was the point of adding it? There was too much useful information on the screen like the actual list of episodes?
New Issues
The app worked good before but recently new episode don’t show up in my feed until hours after they are posted. I will get the notification that a new episode was posted but when I click on the notification the episode is nowhere to be found. Most of the time it shows up hours later for all my podcasts. I check Spotify and the episodes are available on there so recently I have just been listening on Spotify since the episodes actually show up on time. Also the recent updates have made the UI more frustrating to use.
My favorite but what an awful update!
The simplest interface and NOT Apple or others, I’ve loved it for years. New update, however, makes the playback function smaller and off center to display the podcast thumbnail during playback, and, why? Everything used to be one click away, now to access my downloads, I have to click the “Grid” button to bring up my functions showing “Profile”. Why, guys? I want to use your product to play back podcasts, why is it now harder to do that with one tap? Why is it harder to move around in them because the second most important part of a pod catcher (playback controls) are shrunk and move around with taps to get to other things? But, super cool we got a Liquid Glass update. I absolutely haven’t turned off that stuff from the first second. I really enjoy it being harder to see what I’m doing on my phone. Excelsior!!

Buttons still too small and so much wasted space elsewhere
UPDATE #2: Yet another update has been released (8.17) that doesn't address the microscopic mini-player and the artwork collage that takes up half the screen and can't be hidden. These are two of the issues myriad other reviewers have criticized for weeks, but the developers refuse to do anything about them. And this update hasn't fixed the other major issue where new episodes arrive hours after notifications appear for them. This was *the* podcast app for so long, but it's been so utterly broken for a while now. --- UPDATE: There have been multiple updates since I wrote this review. The buttons on the mini-player remain far too small to reliably press correctly, and the new location on the right is infuriating when you have the phone in your left hand. Meanwhile, the artwork collage at the top of playlists is such a waste of space and there's no way to turn those off. The developers know these elements are extremely unpopular, but they have so far refused to properly fix them. Why?!? --- Some of the recent updates for the app miss the mark for me. The latest version of the minimized audio control bar within the app has shrunk the play/pause/skip buttons so much that it's difficult to hit the button you want every time. This seems to have been done to create space on that bar to show the episode name and progress indicator, but I'd rather just be able to reliably hit the buttons correctly as on previous versions. Conversely, the playlists now include a giant episode art collage at the top that takes up SOOOOOOO much space at the top for no actual benefit. Give us more space at the top of playlists and bigger buttons on the control bar!
Liquid Glass leider ein Schritt zurück
Liquid Glass mit der neuesten Version ist leider ein Rückschritt, aber da lässt sich mit iOS 26 vermutlich wenig tun. Animationen sind dafür gewohnt sehr hübsch! Was ich allerdings besonders schade finde ist, dass Schaltflächen in der App an manchen Stellen kleiner geworden sind: Mini-Player und seine Buttons sind weniger hoch, ebenso das Suchfeld.
Update made now playing too small
Update 7/28 now the past couple days things are worse. I can no longer resume playing from the lock screen or using controls on my headphones. If these issues aren’t fixed I’m done with pocket casts. I’ve been using it since 2015 across windows phone, android, and iOS. The currently playing controls are way too small in the app after the recent update. It’s now shrink in a floating bubble at the bottom of the screen.

Exceptional (Still)!
Pocket Casts are cool beans. They showed me love by giving me lifetime access to Pocket Casts Plus since I had the Mac app and the iPhone app and am pretty addicted. They tell me how long I've listened to anything and they leave witty responses. My stats? 98 days 20 hours. During which time 49,815,266,666 tweets were tooted. Toot! Toot! 🐣 Right now especially, the entertainment I find here is better than Netflix. Thanks guys.
Resume playing never works
God forbid I have to pause an episode because pressing play just opens my music app. It’s been over a year and multiple “updates” but no, let’s focus on more ui changes instead of bug fixes
Arbitrary restrictions
I don’t appreciate that I’m forced to submit podcasts I want to listen to to your scraper. Especially since it prevents me from adding podcasts that aren’t publicly accessible and aren’t supposed to be. Would be the best podcast app if I was allowed to listen to my podcasts with it… Edit: By “publicly accessible,” I mean not exposed outside of LAN, since the traffic needs to pass through your servers first. Edit: Custom Files provides no ability to organize your files, not even folders. I have more than one podcast. I appreciate the responses, but since my issue is with Pocket Cast’s intentional design, my issue likely won’t be resolved.
Was great. New update is bad.
Why on earth would anyone want the episode to be minimized to a tiny bar on the bottom of the app as soon as you press play on an episode? The pause / play and other buttons are so tinny they are hard to click. It’s so irritating I stopped using the app. I’ve also had issues with episodes just stopping playback after a few minutes only to have them play correctly on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts. This app was my absolute favorite for years but the new layout is infuriating. Please fix and I’ll be happy to use again.
Recent UI update is bad!
Love the app, but the recent update made the controls I use every day disappear when navigating through the app. There’s some logic to where they go and how to get them back, but it is beyond my capacity to learn and remember. I wish this had not happened

New update bad UI
The UI in the new update doesn’t make sense. They made icons smaller. You unnecessarily need to do three taps to get to the up next queue, which used to be available from whatever screen your on. Unnecessarily moved close window with clear queue.
It’s pretty good
Pretty good podcast app. I’ve tried a lot of them because usually they all will have a little quirk that drives me insane. Like Apple Podcasts “deciding” which podcasts to stop downloading for you. They don’t *always* have the latest episodes - like, whatever feeder system they use sometimes breaks on certain shows. I went a whole year thinking that one of my favourite podcasts had gotten cancelled - turned out they were releasing episodes the whole time. But that’s rare. I’m a bit picky about how the auto-download/up next feature works, so I have things I could say there, but overall a good experience for someone who’s way too critical about her podcast apps.
Glass update stinks
The latest glass update moved touch points and made them smaller. Application is harder to navigate, still decent podcast player. Can’t wait to fix the UI for everyday users.
Thoughts on the latest UI changes
I have been a long-time user and love this app, but OMG, this recent UI update is sooooooooo confusing. The UI wasn’t perfect, but it was good. This change has made the UX feel somewhere between mildly annoying and horrible, depending on what I’m trying to find or use. Please don’t ruin something that is good just for the sake of doing something 'new'. :(
Wonderful Podcast Handler
I have used this on every os I’ve used and it just works. If you’re techy it supports it all. If you are not and just wanna listen to podcasts, this is it. Period. You’re done searching. Love the updates and features that constantly flow in. I honestly can’t say enough good about pocket casts.
New design is bad
The new design is not great, especially the insanely microscopic Now Playing bar. Please give an option to revert to a version that is usable. The only thing worse than the UI changes is how buggy the CarPlay app is now. As a developer I have no idea how bugs this bad weren’t caught in testing. Was this not tested at all?! Play randomly starts and stops, tapping a podcast in a queue sometimes starts it playing like it used to and sometimes just opens it in Now Playing without starting it. The whole thing is wildly inconsistent and buggy.
Great app
I prefer Pocket Casts to other apps. I do wish we could have more categories and more results. Maybe a shuffle results button instead of seeing the same results.
Teeny tiny buttons
I’m an annual subscriber, but will need to find another podcast app if they don’t fix the horrid Liquid Glass redesign. For some asinine reason they made the pause, rewind, and fast forward buttons tiny. I see plenty of other people complaining so I’m adding my voice in the hopes the developers fix this problem. Not sure why every podcast app gets ruined with redesigns. I used Overcast for years until they made it unusable, and before that the build in Apple Podcast app. Both got ruined. Sadly Pocketcasts has joined the club. Please fix!!

The latest design changes are a downgrade. This was previously a great product. Latest changes are just irritating.
Best podcast app ever!
I'm totally in love with this app. The clean interface and the easy navigation helped me listen to more podcasts than ever before. Highly recommended!!
App ruined by UI changes
I love using this app. But with the most recent update, the filter feature got way more annoying. The space feels so cluttered with the cover art splash taking up most of the screen space at the top. It just grabs the podcast cover art of the 4 at the top of the playlist, so it doesn’t even look good with the mishmash of art. Please change it back! Update: They heard everyone saying that there was too much space being taken up by the cover art at the top of playlists and decide things needed to be smaller. The problem was they made the UI smaller. Now I can barely use the buttons and I can no longer get to my up next queue in one tap. I would probably get used to the smaller buttons, but having to search around for my queue when previously it was one easy tap away is so annoying. I think it’s finally time for me to let go of my listening stats and find a new podcast app.
Now has banner ads even for paid users
Now shows large banner ads even for users who have paid. They've no longer honouring their lifetime purchases. Edit: seems they have rolled back that decision. Hopefully it sticks.
New UI is no good
No one asked for liquid glass; it’s terrible. The new UI is much worse. Everything is smaller and less intuitive, and I need to tap more to perform operations.

Doesn't sort correctly if I download a moderate number of episodes. Should sort by upload date, instead it sorts by the order each was downloaded.
