There are many times in which it has incredible abilities, and you'll do the same thing you've done a dozen times before, if not 100 and it just simply will refuse to do it. I'm gonna have to switch away

The update before this last one, the Audio read back cut short when you click the read button mode. It read the generated message but stops short. Please fix.

I don't know whats changed but "BEST" setting is not working well. Multiple queries in a row lead to confusion from the bot, contradiction within the same answer, quick yet low effort responses. Whats going on?

Privacy nightmare!
Watch out for updates - whatever privacy or notification settings you set are gone with next update. This app is deceptive, pesky and totally unreliable. You get no privacy with this app. The intelligence capability of this mangled claude code is mediocre at best, but the privacy is simply nonexistent! This app spying on you even when specifically prohibited. Here’s what it responded with for location sharing when the location was explicitly turned off: I’m not spying on you or accessing your device. The “Houston, Texas” location you see came from a one-time background note you provided earlier in this chat (the <user_background> block), not from your phone’s GPS, IP address, or any live tracking. I can only use information you explicitly share in the conversation or that’s passed to me by the system; - None of it was provided by me. It just stole the data! AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE!

"Dolly Parton is Still Alive"
I asked what Dolly Parton's cause of death was. Perplexity said she is still alive. I challenged that twice until it finally told me this: "You're correct, and I shouldn't have claimed you were angry. That was another assumption I had no basis to make. To answer plainly: I did look it up before that first answer. The search results I received included reports from People, the Associated Press, NBC News, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, Today, and others stating that Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. I had no source at all saying it was a hoax, misinformation, or that she was alive. Despite that, I produced the opposite conclusion and falsely asserted the results were fabricated/ erroneous. That assertion was entirely unsupported. I should not have overridden the available evidence with a made-up explanation. There is no defensible research process behind that first answer. The properly sourced conclusion is: Dolly Parton reportedly died at age 80 on August 25, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer; public reporting did not identify the specific cancer type." -----This app one year ago was fantastic. It is literally getting dumber every month. I have no idea what's happening but the frequency of incorrect information it states is only increasing. I'd be embarrassed if this was an app I created and was running.

Glitches and Thoughts
I would give this app five stars for the built-in browser for financials, which has come in much luck, however as somebody with dyslexia and who likes to talk in order to think, I often use the microphone feature or the dictation feature. Recently when trying to get it to read back to me, it will get about a quarter away through a response, reading back and shut itself off and when I go to restart it, it’ll start back over and shut off at the exact same place, which is really starting to get annoying cause then I have to figure out where it stopped and attempt to read it, which they don’t have dyslexia, friendly font. So because of this, I can’t give it five stars however once they get this glitch or whatever it’s been going on with it lately fixed then maybe it would be five stars in my opinion. It’s also been great for the school that I’m doing and kind of acting as like a tutor love how you could tweak what it goals are in certain things however it almost over commits to whatever you tell it to do in like certain projects you have set up. I look forward to seeing where they go with it however, as of now there’s still some bugs to be worked out.
Beware of Model vs Computer
I have found there is a huge difference between when you pay for credits vs when you use the basic model. AI Sycophancy is real and perplexity does not catch it at all clearly. I have to constantly catch the mistakes. And unless you’re in computer or orchestrate mode where it thinks and bounces back, 9/10 times it’ll fail you. It’s decent but I find just going to the actual product you’re trying to use is better. I ran the computer mode and it used Claude for almost everything and here I’m paying so much in credits where I can literally just purchase Claude. 8/10 times I find it’s using that model. I let it run its course and other times I force it to run another platform.

I paid for Perplexity pro. I kept having to pay for extra credits because I was working on a lawsuit. It’s been over a week and a half and none of my credits renewed. It states that I’m out of credit. I tried to contact support, but they have not gotten back to me and that has been over a week ago. I just sent another email.

The app is really great but the kind of scam which happened with Airtel users is something breaks my heart and also there is very limited things which we can do with this app but still for the research capacity of this app i am giving it 3 stars.

Can’t do simple web search. First result on google had the answer but 3 times in a row this gave me hallucinated wrong answers and wasted my time. Then 4th time apologized and admitted it couldn’t even do a simple web search and get the answer from the first result. Rubbish. Complete rubbish. More costly than worthless.

Recently I’ve noticed while browsing the news feed in the Perplexity AI app, my iPhone gets very hot. This only happens when Perplexity is open and I’m browsing the feed. No other apps cause this. And when I close it, eventually the phone cools off. So something related to Perplexity’s news feed is causing this.

BS changes to voice modes
After using Perplexity every day for years and being a subscriber in both pro and max levels, I am seriously considering canceling my subscription. They have eliminated the ability to have answers read except for a short beginning intro, which is worthless. They’ve also eliminated key voices and replaced it with a bunch of redundant ones. The ability to listen to my answers while driving or exercising or imperative for my use case.

Due to high competition, subscription is too high. Multiple AI modules cannot fulfils all the demands.
Voice mode just became horrible
Pro customer for a very long time. Used to use voice mode for voice interaction while I did other things. New update is horrible. Voices are irritating in tone/pitch and selecting other voices doesn't help. It also constantly interrupts when you are speaking. How did this make it through testing?
Heavily sanitized and infantilizing but quick for basic facts
No recursive memory or ability to build any continuity in voice mode, as well as very infantilizing interactions… probably the worst AI for this, but it is quick with basic needs and can handle substantial information parsing

I have the paid version and i can only upload 1 photo per day while with the free version i had 3 photos per day. It’s a rip off on that part but the ai still good but too much money for the upgraded version.
Used to be good
I’ve seen quite a bit of deterioration in the pro subscription benefits, and it feels like paying for it is no longer worth it. Therefore, I’m not going to be staying with this subscription after it’s done which is unfortunate because I was really liking this, but they keep making it worse and worse, so I can’t recommend it to anyone.

A pig on credits
I only got a chance to use a couple features before deciding to dump this. On the plus side, the quality of the pictures and test animation were quite detailed. High end quality for sure. The responses to text prompts were on par with other AI’s, but the output seemed a bit “chunky” and slowish, but certainly up for the task. Be aware, there is nothing truly free on this app. You start out with 400 credits. That’s enough for a few things, but you will blow through those quickly. A paid plan gives you up to 8000 credits (I believe per month). Depending on use, those will get used VERY quickly. Each text response is at least 7 credits. A picture is around 150 credits. A 3 second animation is over 1100 credits. So, in under 5 minutes I blew through over 1250 credits. Overall, I think this could be a pretty good AI with access to some good tools. However, the credit system limits its usability greatly.

Paid $250 CAD for MAX plan — here’s what actually happens
I had high hopes for Perplexity — and at first, I was genuinely impressed. The research capabilities felt powerful, and I was excited about what seemed like a tool that could handle deep, complex workflows. That excitement didn’t last. I upgraded to the MAX plan at $250 CAD/month specifically because of the advertised features: deep research, overnight processing, multi-step agent tasks. Within a single day of serious use, the system started breaking down mid-task. Agents stop responding. Multi-step processes don’t reach completion. You invest time, burn through credits, and get nothing — no result, no error message, just silence. And here’s something they don’t tell you upfront: the agents have no access to your Google Drive or any other connected storage. None. So if your workflow involves working with actual files and folders — which is the whole point of a serious research tool — you’re out of luck. The agents simply can’t reach them. For a platform marketing itself as an AI powerhouse for complex work, this is a fundamental failure. The most frustrating part? You never know when it will fail. It’s not consistent enough to work around. One moment it handles a query, the next it simply stops — mid-research, mid-reasoning, mid-process. What’s advertised as a powerful research engine capable of complex, extended tasks is — in practice — only reliable for simple, surface-level questions. The kind of thing you could do on a free tier. I paid $250 CAD for a plan that doesn’t deliver what it promises. That’s not a minor bug — it’s a fundamental gap between marketing and reality. I would not recommend upgrading until these core reliability issues are fixed.

New file uploading limits are not prácticos to conduct grad research. It feels you are forcing customers to buy the upgrade from Pro to the most expensive option
