I have to say one of the easiest and the best app.
Not easy to use
To many errors and won’t move forward for some reason. Took well over an hour and was NOT easy to use.

I’m paying and it accepts payment and says that the application has to retry????

Chip scanning
It took multiple times to get the chip scanned properly. Many times the green came on and scanned green to ten but not accepted.

It’s unfortunately not a very user friendly app. The instructions are not clear on where you need to go to apply for a simple tourist visa application I had difficulty scanning my passport.

Photo process is nuts
My only complaint is that the process for taking your own photo is ridiculous. It took at last 6 attempts to get a “satisfactory” picture and the final result was a poor photo. Hard to believe it needed to be that difficult.

I had to try to take photo and scan passport multiple times before it would work. I was following all directions.

Application process is not clear
Application does not clearly ask if the applicants passport number has changed since the previous ETA had been issued. This resulted in me applying for an ETA and having it issued under an expired passport number. Too many assumptions are made and not enough questions are asked when completing the application, causing great confusion.

The steps to follow are okay but the photo/ portrait taking was laborious as it keeps getting rejected. Thanks.

Trying to get the passport data was a nightmare.
Decent app but too high tech
Nice to have an official app but it should have the option to manually enter passport details instead of exclusively reading the chip . This would streamline the process.
Very Easy
This application was extremely easy because they did a great job with videos to explain what I needed to do. The the main thing you need to do is have your passport document available.
Horrible App
Couldn’t read my passports even though it showed the chip was read, taking a picture took the app 15 or so tries before it was accepted.
ETA picture
Well explained step by step. I only had problems taking a picture but after 9 tries including opening my eyes more it got accepted. Looking forward to visit Australia.
Photo recognition not precise
The app keeps telling Asian applicant to open eyes more when they are already. Seems a bit racist?

ETA application payment
The application aborted 3 or 4 times when it reached the payment stage. Eventually it went through.
Connectivity issue
I just applied for 2 applicants and when I went back in, I am getting the following message: Unable to load. The app is experiencing a connectivity issue. Please check your internet connection or try again later. Cancel Retry The last time it happened was a few months ago. I couldn’t check if my mom’s application was successful and we went to the airport anyway, and there, the airline ground staff was able to check my mom in without problems... that’s how we knew that her ETA application was indeed successful. This is so frustrating as I have to make an urgent trip tomorrow and the app itself will have system maintenance tomorrow for 6 hours… ☹️

Unable check existing Visa
Technical error: For the past 12hrs of trying, unable to check for existing Visa with the following in-app message “Unable to load - The app is experiencing a connectivity issue. Please check your internet connection or try again later.”

Total process was very good but the photo section let this app down very badly took 20+ attempts to take the photograph

Difficult to navigate and totally time consuming and obnoxious, so much so that this will be my last visit ever to go there. Totally unuser friendly.
Quicker Option
Hello, if I had the option to put my entire family leaving from the same address and staying at the same address in Australia, then the application process would go much faster and would eliminate repetition. That’s my only suggestion. Besides that…. Easy and clear. Cheers

I don’t like how you are forced to use an app to apply for this. Took way too long to verify my photo. Don’t like how they force you to turn on location services so they can track where you are.

Not working at all!
Device not supported error- The Australian Immigration website states this is the only way to obtain a visa for travel to Australia and yet it is not operational. I’ve deleted the app and downloaded it again, I’ve turned my phone off and on to reboot it. Nothing has worked. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED- I need a visa for cruise booked in October! Had no issues at all with the NZ app…

Dysfunctional and probably racist
Would not scan my passport when it was flat for some reason, had to angle it. Afterwards it asked to read the NFC chip in said passport, which would have provided the information from the scan anyway so why ask for a scan? What’s easier to forge? A piece of paper with passport info or an nfc chip with passport info? If you can read the NFC chip you don’t need to rely on a poorly designed scan. You also don’t need to see my passport during application since you’ll see it at your customs border anyway. During the photo verification section it said I had to open my eyes more which lead to me looking not like my normal self so I’m not sure how this helps verification if I have to put on a face to get through it due to immutable genetic factors. Worst part is this could have just been a website form accessible from any device. I can’t begin to imagine how much Australian taxpayer money was spent to make this dysfunctional and potentially racist app.
