New client
I’ve just spent an hour trying to complete the opening of my HSBC EXPAT account and I got time out . Not a great start . And now that I have read the comments listed here it doesn’t encourage to start again. Disappointed.
Wealth Products
Be great to see more products like I have access to in SG or HK.
Not that useful
As a banking app, all it’s good for is moving money. Am always frustrated that details like maturity dates of term deposits can’t be viewed in the app.
Not the easiest to use
Unintuitive and no logical processes to carry out simple tasks Account data is “hidden” and requires you to remember the downward swipe to reveal the account data - why not just provide a link 🤔 In order to generate a security code to access online banking (website NOT App) you have to log out of the App to get to the login screen to access the generate security code link - not very helpful if you are in the middle of a chat session which is then closed when you log out Whoever designed this app had no idea of banking workflows or standard banking processes and had created one of the most awkward banking Apps that I have ever used - even the Chat Agents find it difficult to use and don’t know how to access certain data eg. I was told the only way to access an account IBAN is via online banking (website) - however the IBAN is found [hidden] within the App 😝😝😝 This App is NOT for the technically challenged client - you have been warned ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Not able to view credit card statement
I have a credit card but no access to the account on the app or download statements or easy payment to credit card from another HSBC account
Untrained staff
Non existent customer service Call centre, relationship manager and online chat all say completely different things Slow and unhelpful I have been with the bank for 20 years . There is no help from them and have untrained staff
Customer Service is nonexistent
App works well, tho some steps are either not available or difficult to navigate. Emails and returning phone calls is nonexistent. Extremely disconcerting!
HSBC have removed the mortgage interest rate from the quick details section
HSBC have cynically removed the mortgage interest rate from the quick details view for my expat mortgage account. This is especially annoying as the bank of England is now starting to cut interest rates and customers will want to see the immediate changes. Why remove something that is useful to customer? Presumably because it wasn’t useful to HSBC? And yes, I know I can look on my statements for this info. But as usual with HSBC, why keep something simple when it can be made more complicated.
Mobile Push feature is great. Excellent upgrade
Just updated the app — great to see the new bell icon and push notifications! I’ve enabled all notifications. This is a strong step forward for real-time engagement.
Unable to sent transfer
HSBC expat are unable to complete an international transfer, and unable to tell me why for more than a year. For an expat account this should be their core business. Customer services is awful to nonexistent even when classed as a high value customer with a relationship director. Truly awful.
Good app, so-so customer service
The app itself is fine and works as well as any other banking app I’ve used. But HSBC’s customer service is not that good. I stopped getting confirmations for my payments and after more than two months it’s still not fixed. It can take weeks (if ever) to get a reply to an email inquiry, and then they prefer to call you back which never works due to the 8 hour time zone difference - and if you call them it can be very expensive! I’ve had the same experience with past inquiries, it’s always super slow communication and sometimes no reply whatsoever.
New payees listing is not efficient
The old transfer system was a lot more easier to use than the present one. Especially the Payees listing which doesn’t show the account number like the previous system.
Excellent Banking App!
The HSBC Banking app is easy to navigate, effective and super efficient. Best Banking app in our experience of many years and numerous Banks. Very happy indeed, 5 star plus!!
Stone Age
I try to transfer money between HSBC global account on weekend, and finally need to wait for their office open on Monday to complete the task, we are in 21 century, not Stone Age
Good but with problem showing profit percentages in Investment Center
The app is good, but in the latest version and in the International Investment Center no matter how small the text size you make you still can’t see the percentage of increase or decrease of your investments on your Holdings list. In the previous version it was showing just fine
Bad update
The news HSBC Expat Mobile soo is absolutely crap compared to the previous HSBC Expat app which for some reason HSBC decided to discontinue. The pie charts and global consolidation is now gone. The FX rates are not as strong as in the previous app.
Fast response on chat
Super to get a reply back so quickly..
Absolute bunch of thieves!!! Don’t even think about banking with them!!!!
Restricted my account after I provided all the details they requested. Stay clear of this bank. They never respond to any calls or emails. The Relationship Managers are next useless. Bad customer service- try somewhere else before you even think about HSBC Expat!!!!
Travel issues
Telephone banking is limited when travelling. The difficulty lies in memorising the telephone banking number. There needs to be an alternative access method for non sensitive enquiries. Martin Walker
Global money transfer is buggy
I sent a global money transfer and it reported an error. In reality, it went through silently. I ended up sending the money twice. Expat was not able to recall the transfer and did not offer to rebate the amount.
Three days for an online transfer
I set up an online transfer from my HSBC Premier Expat account, based in Jersey to another bank based in Jersey. They charged me a fee took my money instantly and then told me that it takes 3 working days to pay the other account holder. How’s that for bad and inefficient customer service? Other banks are doing better than this.
Relationship manager service
25 years with off shore premier and service levels continue to slide to dismal levels. Apologies really mean very little without action. Shifting funds elsewhere.
It will be great if I can manage the fixed term deposit in app
It will be great if I can set up and manage the fixed term deposit in app.
Fabulous
Easy to use and simple but secure
Worst bank and worst customer care
I am premier customer and I needed to get an up to date statement for my account. For that I have to reach out to customer care and then even after waiting for 2 days for 2 times every time an “empty”statement is generated. This bank doesn’t care at all about its customers.
International transfer
Was happy to be able to make an international transfer on the app. The information requested for a transfer to Canada was not enough to make the transfer. The money went into abis and eventually came back after several months and investigations Regards Joe
Efficiency
The mobile banking is fast and efficient.
Terrible app / call centre is useless
Locked out of my account and nobody can help me. This company has so much money and the app and call centre service is appalling
I love this app referral for £250 - JQBUCE5N
Have been a expect customer since 2021 and the app keeps improving! Using global money debit card for the purchases after locking in the rates. My referral code for opening expat account - JQBUCE5N - happy to share my experience tg: jtproact
Speechless
Best banking app I ever used! Thank you HSBC for making our lives easier! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Global payments a shambles
A very long time HSBC Expat client but global payments sent on the App. are constantly going missing and take a long time to credit when they do mostly so cannot recommend that function on the app. at all. Pay the GBP4 fee on a PC instead and get it same day mostly to where it is going. Have also been very disappointed with HSBC’s service standards (getting back to me, in fact they don’t, you have to continuously call, long wait times on their call line and logged in chat service etc etc) and general evasive response to it all. Usual story I guess that everything is fine until you actually have a problem these days! Anyway maybe I have just been unlucky but I think time for a change of bank to be sure as trust level now zero. Also yet to work out what my relationship manager actually does or why I even have one!
Hope to have more features
Basically this is an easy use app (good👍🏻) but I hope it can have more features such as applying fixed term deposit
Mr Robinson
As with all HSBC platforms- User Friendly - Excellent App
Opened a complain for underfunding fees
Hello all, When I opened the HSBC expats account nobody informed Me about the mandatory and expensive Swift transfer. Keep in mind the Sepa transfers are not accepted by your account. I will modify this feedback when I got a reply and a solution from HSBC. Anyway, it is unacceptable that a bank like HSBC do not provide any interest for Euros , due to the current inflation crisis. Banks alike Recolut, chase, etc offer at least 1.15-2.70% on euros, GBP and USD.
