Great app u saved me!
Free mode sucks
We should at least have one none computerized voice smh I was excited about this one but not anymore …..delete
Curate library content and generate content relationships
The function I’m expecting in the future is to let the AI work across user’s collection of content for building up special narratives and presentations. In this way this platform will become the only app i use daily in office for knowledge content.
WHY SUBSCRIPTION!!!!!
I have heard about this app from a few friends and was excited to try it. BUT when I got on I realized that you have to pay for EVERYTHING!!! I feel like it could be a great app if you included more free options! If you are interested in getting this PLEASE take this into consideration before getting kinda upset about this app.
Gets stuck all the time
I used it for wattpad initially but it stopped working. Started using it on Kindle. I initially it would get stuck when the phone sleeps and I found a way around it. Now, I have to close the app after every few pages, reopen the accessibility browser and then continue. I hope they fix this.
Kinfolk
A must read!!! Twist and turns!
Trash
The app doesn’t do as advertised. It’s supposed to read PDF documents. It would only read three words out of a five page document. $139 a year? Absolutely not.
Great program but has glitches
I like this program very much but some times when things are in quotes it skips over or doesn’t speak it at all…. and I like to follow along with the words as it reads but every time It will read for about 15 minutes then the words disappear and I have to close the program and reopen it to see exactly where it is in the book … THAT NEEDS TO TRULY BE FIXED… then some times it says the word right then the next sentence it says it wrong. an example is the word lBow… some times it says bow what you use to shoot an arrow with then it say bow like you’re bending down to take a bow in front of a crowd, then the next time it spells the word out. Just need to work on the quirks in the program to try to get it to be consistent with the words that is saying, but the biggest thing that needs to be fixed is the disappearing of the words in stories as reading it I always have to keep restarting the program just to be able to see the words.

Not as I hoped
Although it’s a wonderful way to listen to books in lieu of reading them, it’s not as I hoped. There aren’t but a few voices and those don’t get all of the words in order. It tends to skip around but not to any great detriment.
Amazing app!
I downloaded the app because I couldn’t find an audio book of the book I was reading in class ANYWHERE it was very simple to use and there were lots of cool features! I used the 3 day trial and it was amazing! I got to pick my voice, and the read back speed. I ended up finishing the part where I was falling behind and even beyond that. They have a good selection of voices both male and female and different tones of those voices. They also have a bunch of different speeds for the reading.
Don’t like it
Reads my notes out really bad.
Speechifying
I would like more actors and actresses voices and game of thrones characters and house of dragons because I am a great fan.
Who’s in Charge at Speechify?
A feature I subscribed for is continually being silently removed. I previously could download narrated audio from documents on the iOS app That option is now missing from the three-dot menu I subscribed specifically for this capability This is a loss of a core feature I’m paying for
Crazy long sign up
I had to fill it twice, and it forced me to do the trial. The website advertised a free plan I could start with.
I’m thankful I found this
I love to learn I sometimes find it difficult with vision and minor ADHD problems. I’m confident this will help. Thank you Speechify!
What happened?
This used to be a streamlined, helpful, easy to use text-to-speech service. Now my uploads are hidden away in favor of a chatbot on the front page? That’s not the service you advertise! I am here to upload documents and create audio files! All these additions with newer AI features have just made that more difficult and are nearly causing me to delete the app. Even the options for editing pdfs are vanishing. Really seems like they took a good thing and are twisting it to make more money until the original device doesn’t even exist. Pitiful, thought this was an actual good use of AI but I guess Cliff Weitzman decided a cool chatbot was more important than actually help dyslexic people. Infuriating. Find an alternative that seems to be run by someone with a heart as well as a head on their shoulders cuz this ain’t it.
Brilliant! But...
I love this app. It helped me get through chapters of my book that I didn't really like reading as it more of a space filler than anything else and because I have dyslexia and really did help with focusing on each word. But the reason why I didn't put 5 stars is because I wish their was more books on it. I haven't been able to find any of my own books in the search button yet. And I needed to take photos of each page which is kinda annoying. All I'm asking is maybe widen your library of books plz. Oh and maybe instead of only allowing one voice without the paying for the subscription, maybe add the option to switch between two different ones? Other than that I love this app. Thank you! All the best!
Good but it’s a money grab
It’s not free I’ll tell ya that
Money deducted wrongly
I had canceled my subscription before the trial period ended. Still ₹4999 has been deducted. Please refund my money because I didn’t find your app useful and more over it is nothing like it is shown in your advertisement. Thank you for the refund. I am highly obliged. You proved that you are not scammers.
Shout out to Snoop
I have a really intense reading workload as a History major, and if I’m not super interested in the source I find it difficult to slog through and then I won’t do the assignment. Speechify changed that for me! I use the premium subscription to access Snoop Dog’s voice and it truly makes it so much easier to tune in and listen to these centuries old documents. I sit with a physical copy of the book and read along while Snoop speaks. Life changing and will be the reason I graduate. Thanks, Snoop!
This app could be so much better
This is literally one of the worst apps I've ever used!!
Great but some improvements urgently needed
I can’t describe how much this app has helped my work as an academic who suffers from attention difficulties. But it is quite surprising that some essential improvements haven’t been made yet. I don’t get why it’s so easy to read smoothly a word that is divided between two lines, but not two pages! I can’t see why the app doesn’t recognise simple things like “[t]he” as just “the”. I also wish there was a tool to add specific words or proper names from particular disciplines that are regularly mis-pronounced; the name of my discipline, which appears in 70% of what I read, is always mispronounced. The summary and chat tools are fantastic, as is the podcast tool. But it baffles me that there’s no way to control the length of the podcast (when the equivalent option is available on the summary tool!). The recent update has removed the option to tap on “+” and “-“ to zoom in and out, and it’s more difficult to see the time it would take to read the full document. Why? I rarely write reviews but this app has been SO helpful as well as quite frustrating, I had to write one!
Seeking value!
I’ve use this tool, when had this last year. Unfortunately, I Have not yet seen the value for what I’ve already purchased.
Not suitable for learning English
I was disappointed with this app. I bought it mainly to read English books and improve my English, but I found it difficult to use for this purpose. There is no easy way to translate individual English words into Turkish while reading, and I could not copy and paste words into a translator or dictionary. Also, even at the slowest reading speed (0.4x), the voice was still too fast for me. I expected a much more flexible reading experience, especially for language learners. Unfortunately, I did not find the app useful for my needs.
Game Changer!!!
Y’all, I was skeptical at first. $139 a year is a lot of money. But, I’m in my second year of grad school, and I struggled the first year, so I thought hey it’s worth a shot. You guys: it has genuinely been such a game changer and I am consistently blown away by the number of genuinely helpful features I’m still discovering. I don’t have ADHD or dyslexia, but I have struggled to complete my grad school readings, maintain motivation and focus, and am often distracted. This app has been great for several reasons. One, once I upload my readings, I can see how long it will take to listen to at my preferred speed, which gives me a finish line and helps a TON with time management. Two, the upload methods are varied and effective; I can take photos of pages (even slightly blurry or with other text from another page) and it focuses in correctly. You can upload web links for articles too, or just upload a whole ebook. It uploaded mine genuinely in just a few seconds. I just discovered it has a sleep timer feature in case you want to listen to something as you go to sleep, and you can also select your mix in audio/music in the background. Speechify has legitimately changed my life: I’m doing better in classes, I can actually complete all my grad school readings now, my stress is down, I feel way more motivated, and my productivity and energy are both up. If they ever come out with a lifetime subscription, I’ll be the first customer.
Technology DOESN’T work
This app is so problematic. It barely works. I can’t reliably listen to a document if the app is going to skip words and sentences constantly. What’s the point of that? The service is so expensive yet the product is nonfunctioning.
Good
I love this app and it’s gonna help me read a lot more. The only thing I don’t like is it took me through all this personalising stages and then just as I signed in and said I don’t want to do the free trial of pay for that membership thing it put me back to this American accent, which I don’t like and it really sort of basic and I had my own one selected that would make me really want to listen Now I don’t
Way too overpriced for how many problems it’s given me over the last 3 or 4 years
From deleting my cloned voices out of nowhere, to completely overhauling the user interface from somewhat reasonable to completely unintuitive, canceling my services unexpectedly during more than one finals week of my high-pressure degree program despite my having receipts for payment, not being to upload a digital textbooks, and structuring text from scanned in the most illogical and chaotic ways… I’m sad to report this app has been more frustrating and problematic than the price has been worth. It’s great when it works, but I’m tired of the problems.
What is it good for?
Can’t read books from the library, can’t even read iBooks. What a load of bs!
Learning this app
I am fascinated with this app as it will help me to study more ! Thanks I recommend it !
ужас
НЕТУ НИ ОДНОГО РУССКОГО БЕСПЛАТНОГО ЯЗЫКА
Download
This is great app I love it, buuuttt they need to add a option to download, it would be great
Not as it seems!
From the advertising you think that simply placing a book over the ap scan it will find the epub version and read it to you. Not so. It’s just a glorified audio book app. And watch out, I skipped all the extras they tried to sell when signing up but they stung me and doubled by subscription fee anyway. I have been waiting more than 30 minutes for chat assistance and the email support is not working apparently.
Bon mais
Bon mais bug souvent et manque des mots, des fois il lit le dernier mot de la phrase avant la phrase
Personalisation is key
It’s quite extraordinary how impactful selection of tone and speed and gender and warmth and personality of the voice delivery can be . How often a great book with a non resonant style of reader has turned me off the book entirely. Or worse - when AI is used and it’s so clunky it becomes more of a task than easy listening . I always love when the author themselves reads their own works- but second best is choosing the voice you can hear best!
New Update is Garbage
This app has always been a bit… glitchy. But I can’t use the much better free app, Voice Aloud, on apple and some of the voices are nice. Since the most recent update, none of that really matters tho cause now it just crashes every time I try to listen. Seriously, for a paid service this is such trash. Not worth it.
The pricing is too high
In India, people who are preparing for government exams are mostly not students in any college, they self prepare. This price is not affordable for an unemployed. But I would really like to use it. As it’s way good to study. Not a single problem with app, it’s just price.
Destroys Browsing Experience
It works fine on my laptop, but it’s impossible to use on my phone. It always opens a tab in my browser every 30 seconds. And I don’t think the team have a solution.
Why does it cost money
Why does it cost money when I can read normally for free it is rage bait
Facile et convivial
L’inscription est facile et convivial, et je trouve les questions pertinentes. Le site semble excessivement bien fait.! Merci
Bait and switch
If you’ve seen their ads about “scan” an ISBN from a book and poof it reads it to you… like me, you’ve been had. The interface looks nothing like the ad, it’s not intuitive, it’s confusing, and a ton of features with no relevant use. Want to read that book, first pay the monthly subscription and then pay for the book in their library. So disappointed by this app. And try to cancel and get a refund is impossibly hard. Had they spent as much on development as they did their fake ads, there might be something here.
This is good too good
Yes, too good
Horrible
I rated 2 stars simply because it’s harder for them to remove that way (or so I’ve heard) the ad where you take a photo of any book cover to have it read to you? I took photos of several different books and it didn’t work for a single one. Then because I subscribed through Apple for the free trial, I cancelled it before I was charged. Today I see an email that I have been charged and they won’t even refund me. I’m wondering how many times they’ve charged me under the radar. I do not recommend this app, try Libby instead.
Great concept, has a long way to go.
It tends to miss lines quite easily, even when you’ve captured a clear picture of the image of the page. I wouldn’t pay the premium unless it were truly ready for prime time - which, as on 21.04.26, it isn’t.
I love to listen the books
This app is amazing)
Gay
It’s gay
Great app but needs a little improvement
Just misses the annotation facility. Would be great to study if annotation and making notes were combined.
Good but not great
Was Great at the start but when it reads my google docs it misplaces words, missing words or whole paragraphs and then back tracks after reading past it to make it out of order.
No horizontal playback on iPhone like iPad and Mac
Vertical view is locked and can’t switch to landscape/horizontal view to have better visual of the file natively without reader mode on an iPhone which is a real bummer as carrying a phone around is much easier than an iPad or computer, this is a deal breaker for some, but I believe speechify guys can really do something about it! Would be widely appreciated by many!
