What people like
- Great for tracking water intake and health
- Easy to see when cats go outside
- Support team is helpful and responsive
- Products work well once properly set up
What they complain about
- App often fails to load or crashes
- Hub loses connection to the cat flap
- You cannot set different curfews for each pet
- Notifications arrive very late or are inaccurate
Great app
All app features work well. Only issue we have has is non app related, Sometimes signal can be weak because of device placement.
Curfews & ease of use
The hub is often offline and hard to update a curfew. Also- frustrating that you cannot give each individual pet a different curfew.
Almost perfect
I love the sure cat flap connect. The app is very good allowing you you to know what’s going on back at home when you are away. It generally works very well but I wish there was a quick action to override a curfew to allow a cat out when required.
Curfew is Irritating
The curfew facility is really annoying. The start time and end time is reset to the default of 00:00 to 00:02 each time the curfew is changed and applied. Why not remember the time of the last curfew and use that for next time?
Unstable link to wired WiFi
Just don’t understand why the ethereal wire connection is unstable at times which makes it frustrating to keep resetting etc. on most days it works fine hence 3 star.
Amazing product from an amazing company
I can’t fault the products or the company. The cat flap is so convenient and helps us to know exactly what’s happening at home when we’re not there, it helps us to monitor the cats movements through day and night and we’d be lost without it. Every single time we’ve asked for anything Sure Petcare have gone above and beyond to help. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Slow bad faults
Indoor only part is not working properly needs rectifying asap as can’t load up. Or add or remove cats from indoor sort it out!!
Pet door battery
Pet door connect battery indicator shows full battery but app shows one bar. I was hoping the last update would fix the bug.
Problems since update
It appears that since the latest update I have lost the ability to update my cats location to inside/outside. Also all ways of locking and changing curfews etc. terrible service.
Cat flap connect app
The function of the cat flap is perfect but to the app developers PLEASE include a dark mode with better contrast. Pale grey writing on a bright white background is nearly impossible for ageing eyes to see.
Brilliant
I love this! It sets a curfew and tell me when they go out. Although it doesn’t tell me when they come in; which is rather inconvenient. I am not sure if it’s something I need to set up?
App is not robust
I bought and fitted the cat Connect flap in November. Setting it up for my cat, and also myself and my wife as Admin, seemed to go well, as did getting and giving invites to our neighbour, so we could share household details about our cats which need keeping apart as they fight. However, we now find that while my and my wife’s phone receive Meow’s when our cat comes and goes, I can access my neighbours household , but my wife can’t! Also I cannot see the status of our neighbours flap - no padlock icon shown beside the flap picture. It is almost as though the linking with other household was an afterthought, to which little effort was put into to make sure it functions properly.
Update
It didn’t load after the update, I’ve tried a few times and it was unusable. I’ve had to delete the app and re-install. Works ok after that.
App says flap is offline?
The app is saying the flap is offline and has been for several days, it’s still letting my pets in and out however I can’t update their location on the app/change the curfew etc
Obsolete Wi-Fi system?
The catflap itself works well, but the communication between the catflap and the ridiculous cat eared hub is poor in our house, even though they are in adjacent rooms and only 10 m apart. And why does the hub have to be connected to the router by a cable in this day and age? Not everyone has their router near the catflap!
Super usedul
I need to monitor my cats water intake due to a medical condition and Felaqua is super helpful. I used to have a water fountain that was good in terms of moving the water which encourages cats to drink but did not like the fact that it is just circulating the same water that gets slimy (full of saliva). Fealqua is supplying fresh water from the bottle thatbis upside down and cats love it. And it measures the amount drunk by mililitre. It also sends you reminders to change the water. It is a brilliant product and the app works seamlessly.
Not worth the money
Funny how I did a 1*review a few months ago and it has weirdly disappeared. Do you delete the poor reviews to maintain the laughable 4* on the App Store?…… The app is meant to record when your cat leaves the house and comes in. It is very hit and miss. I think my cat is still out but no he has come in and vice versa. Not accurate at all. And no I am not going to raise this individually with you as is your get out clause with all the other poor reviews. Your product is not fit for purpose.
App usually great, but hasn’t worked for a month or so
Love the app, great for controlling the cat flap, but for the past month or so I haven’t been able to load it - I just get the loading screen. I believe I’m running the latest versions of everything, but I can’t currently manage the cat flap remotely.
Disappointing
This is my second Sure Pet door flap, originally I had a cat flap which was great as it allowed for different curfew times, sadly the pet flap only allows for one curfew time & I can only keep all pets in or out not individual pets which I find very awkward as one of my cats needs to stay in more than the other.
Can’t create an account, clock change messed with curfew
It was hard to get past the set-password screen to create an account, it doesn’t scroll properly so the keyboard obscures the password. App can't handle clock changes. We just had a daylight savings transition to BST. The catflap curfew times were changed and moved an hour forward. So where it was 7am it moved to 8am. Might be a new bug, haven't spotted this before.
Great app and products
We’ve got 4 cats with different dietary needs, the sure connect system is ideal. App works well, cats easily adapted to the feeders. All around excellent products.
Updating lock and curfew settings often doesn’t work
The primary purpose of the app is to enable easy management of the cat flap lock, however it often just doesn’t work - you change a setting on the app and you just see a grey spinning wheel, often for hours. Tried calling support who were very unhelpful. And before anyone says otherwise, the hub is c1.5m from the cat flap with direct line of sight. Not good enough, especially given the cost.
Registering
It would be awesome if we could type our cat’s microchip into the app and have it register in the door. You already have connectivity between the door and hub, please make it work both ways. Much appreciated.
Great when it works
I have 4 feeders. As far as the app goes, two of them are always seen. Settings changes take forever to actually apply. Of the other two, they constantly are not seen in the app. Every now and then one reappears as a new product, seemingly forgetting the name and other settings that were setup. They still work and open for the cats despite being inconsistently connected in the app. Lately I’m seeing one of my cats be able to access the feeder of another one. The settings show only one cat for the feeder despite two being able to access it. Which is disappointing because two of my cats get meds in their food. This product and app have great potential but the implementation seems to holding back what this could be.
Get a Better Ux developer
I have many their products but the catflaps is good but has many flaws and room for improvement The app looks nice but not very intuitive and the UX is terrible can’t find functions easily.
My cat loves it!
Absolutely amazing my Cat really loves it the schedule curfew is a game changer definitely worth while getting this
Not working
Since the latest update I can’t access the cat flap under products to change locking features. Pressing the buttons does nothing. I also can’t access the individual pets to change their status. Pressing the pets buttons does nothing. My wife who is on the older version of the app can still do all of this
B+
Cat Flap and Wi-Fi monitor are Excellent products. 5 years in operation now. Replaced a motherboard last year likely due to moisture. Being able to monitor your pets and control their access remotely is good peace of mind.
Fed up - login issues, Felaqua inaccuracies
UPDATE - I did raise a ticket with Sure Petcare customer support, however this was no use at all despite my following all advice they gave me; I then gave up, as it is obvious they are not genuinely interested in helping me because my Felaqua is out of guarantee - they just want me to buy another one (which I will not do). I am now seriously looking at potential alternatives. I constantly have to log in - this is happening almost daily and is infuriating. There are very frequent inaccuracies with Felaqua notifications - app often does not detect when I have replenished the water supply (resulting in my receiving a ‘water freshness reminder’), or sends out 2 alerts at the same time saying (for example) ‘900ml of water removed’ and ‘Felaqua has been refilled’. Also sometimes receive alert saying an amount of water has been removed from the Felaqua - when my cat has not been near the Felaqua, and the Felaqua has not been moved. If an alternative from another company was available in the U.K., I would use that instead of Sure Petcare products - fairly recently, there was an alternative to the Surefeed Microchip Feeder Connect, which I was contemplating, however that appears to be no longer available in the U.K. (but is still apparently available in the USA), and I would be stuck with Sure Petcare anyway because there does not appear to be any alternative to the Felaqua. I see Sure Petcare are promising there will be a fix for the login issue on about 22 April - but I won’t believe that until it happens. I would also like there to be a dark mode option - but a properly functioning app that actually does what it promises is rather more important.
25 hour days
Recent updates appear to have introduced a 25 hour day, with my pet entering at 24:54. The inability to make unwanted animals “outdoor only” so pets can leave but not re-enter (eg tailgating neighbours cats when the flaps don’t close properly) is something that customer service can add, but not possible via the app. The reverse is possible though!
This is very good!
Great to know when she is out and when she returns! Love the little meow announcements. I like being able to see how long she is out. The ability to easily set a curfew allows me to confidently let my young cat enjoy some guard railed freedom making both of us happy!
Not so smart smartflap
Despite hours fiddling around this thing just won’t open via the app. Cats are registered ok, hub is reporting it can see the flap, state of charge, etc but motors stay stubbornly locked unless the mode is set to learn new cat mode. Most irritatingly the app falsely reports successful opening and closing even tho the flap stays silent. It has new batteries, it has been deleted and reinstalled, etc. Instrumentation instrumentation instrumentation. Please.
Love the technology but needs more stability connecting to WiFi
I absolutely love to see how often my cats come and go. It’s a huge help to relax when I’m away for longer stretches when I travel for work. But, the connecting terminal, the little WiFi repeater it comes with, frequently looses connectivity to the cat door even though it’s within line of site and no more than 30 feet. Maybe it would work better if it were right next to it, but since it must be hardwired, that’s not an option. Recommend the company create a device that connects via WiFi so it can be closer, and if that’s not the issue, then figure it out and make it better. Also the door doesn’t let me select which cats I want to let out, it lets anything out which is a problem for me now that I have a new kitten who went into heat early, and lastly the door goes nuts when I put in certain new batteries.
Getting worse every update
Let me be clear I live the idea of having an app that shows me if my cats are in or out, but with each update this app gets worse. I will get a notification 20 mins after one of my cats has passed through the cat flap. And it’s 50/50 as to wether the app will load up For example I’ve been trying for the last 30 mins to mark one of my cats as indoors (he followed me in confident pass through the cat flap) and the app just will not load. I’ve checked online and the sure servers are all fine apparently. My WiFi is running as per normal, app is up to date so no problems. I’ve even tried my phone on cellular but nothing! Such a shame.
App stopped working
The app stopped working, cannot use the quick actions menu or make any Catflap adjustments. I have deleted and re downloaded, updated my phone, logged out and in again and still the same.
Fantastic Feline water monitor
An amazing find! This was recommended by my vet to help monitor my elderly cat’s health. We were quite surprised by how sophisticated, but easy to use, it is. Even my engineer husband is impressed. No more wondering if the cat drank or spilled the water or which cat. No more thinking of evaporation. Here you can see how much and how often your cat drinks. You have trends and averages. Each cat is monitored separately via its RFID CHIP. Names and Photos aid simple humans. The bonus is that you can continue monitoring remotely. So if you are away, you still know your cat’s consumption. Highly recommend having the device and the hub, if you don’t have one is helpful for longer term monitoring. A reminder to change the water keeps us on track.
New app update made everything worse
Since the newest update with the new UI, we are struggling to make changes to our individual cats. We set the indoor option for one cat and it takes forever to make the change
Please Fix Lights Setting
Ever since the latest update, my pets hub has been flashing its lights even though “Lights” setting is on “None”. Please fix this. Other than that, I am pretty happy with the app overall.
Many issues Cat door
Cat door does not close properly always stays open around quarter inch. It’s not heavy enough. Also, the app keeps showing week signal even though the router is within 7 feet. I have communicated with sure and nothing has changed Also adding a pet is not simple once a pet is in my database. I should be able to assign or unassigned from any Sure equipment that I have.
Fibre WiFi problems
The hub seems to have problems since I have Fiber. Keeps dropping out. Hub software need rethinking so it will work better with fiber in my opinion.
So pleased with it
This is great. Easy to setup and so useful to see the car in and out and get an idea on average time he spends outside. Expensive but highly recommend.
Interface is not great
The idea is fabulous, but the app is horrible to navigate.
Love the update
This new update is what it should have been in the first place. So much better.
Batteries alert!
Really wish would improve the battery power alert level in app. Find it very frustrating that it a:) isn’t compatible with rechargeable batteries and b) the alert level in app is “way off”, says batteries have run out, but the actual flap reading states they are full. Even an independent battery tester says full. Batteries are expensive- this should be sorted………
App doesn't work
In principle it's a great piece of equipment. But when I try to lock or open the cat flap via the app it says it has done it but in reality nothing happens. The cat flap does not lock or unlock. Despite everything being linked up as it should.
Cat flap
Great product which works very well. Is it possible to make separate curfews for different chipped cats?
Can’t even use this app as it’s unresponsive
Once again this app completely stopped working. It seems like the only option is to download it again. It’s really disappointing given the price of this equipment. New interface (when I could still login) is rubbish, it took me forever to find the functionality I was looking for, totally not intuitive, and I was trying to adjust curfew times. Really disappointed with it.
Had to delete old app but works now
The new app is, I think, an improvement overall. It’s faster and easier to manually update a pet’s location, which is one of the main things I use the app for. However, I haven’t used it long enough to see if they worked out some of the old app’s bugs. One big thing: new app wouldn’t launch after update. I deleted it, and the app data, and reinstalled. After logging back in, the app seems to work fine.
Never Stays Logged In
Every time I go to access the app, I have to log in each time. This didn’t happen before this recent design change. Is that purposeful?
Does most of what you expect
One real annoyance is that even if you disable notifications for pet entry/exit, you still get them for “unknown pet” and “an animal has looked trough the door” and they tend to be the most spurious alerts. The UI is also a bit counterintuitive, but you can figure it out with a bit of exploration. Would be nice to have better graphs that show entry/exits rather than just time spent outside, one of our cats is constantly in and out.
