UNBELIEVABLY Bad
I am astounded by how bad this app is. EVERYTHING I have tried has gone wrong. First, setup: as far as I can tell, it completely fails if your WiFi supports any frequencies other than 2.4GHz, with NO indication of this anywhere. Second, adding Z-Wave devices: the process is TOTALLY BROKEN, requiring MULTIPLE pairing attempts for EVERY device. Third, Matter Bridge: I installed it, but it refuses to show up in settings. It won't let me install it again, but it's just NOT THERE.
It’s ok kinda
It’s fine wish I went with Home Assistant tbh.
Achteruitgang
Just getting it set up
No tech support
Equipment sent frozen and hangs like all cheap equipment with no technical support but plenty of e-mails to submit 1. Product cannot be returned they have a foreign telephone number(s).
A little quirky but I like it
Works better than I expected. Could do with a little refinement, not sure I like the mood setting only showing lights but there’s a work around (more work to do though). Apple HomePod as a voice assistant natively would be nice but again there’s a work around. Nice app, almost there and what does work, works well. Still room for improvement.
Deceptive anti consumer
Self hosted as an industry standard means that for the cost of providing your own hardware, you get a functional but largely unsupported version of the product unless you pay for support and value added features. Not for Homey. If you don’t pay for a subscription, you lose access to all features and all devices over the hilariously low 5 they allow. Oh, and they don’t bother to tell you about any of this until AFTER you’ve taken the time and made the effort to install their product, which is inferior to Home Assistant btw. Go use that if you want an actually good product.
Glorious
I absolutely love it it’s way better than home assistant
Frustrated user
I ordered this device because it could handle 433mhz with the homey bridge. Then I spoke to customer service and was told that 433mhz has been disabled in my region. So I cancelled both ordered. The. The chat person said you may be able to connect your 433mhz bridge as it will and can do the sending of the signal. I was under the impression that maybe there was a way to connect my hub to this device, Amazon didn’t cancel one of the orders and this device doesn’t do as I needed it to do.
Werkt redelijk
It’s ok nothing special
Had my homey for about two months. My biggest complaint is custom dashboards which do not show up on the main dashboard display. I’ve made four custom dashboards but when I try and display them, spent I do not have any. Eufy cameras don’t work, eufy doorbells do not work and show no video. UniFi protect cameras work occasionally. The homey device and app is trying to be home assistant, making it easier to configure smart devices on your home. But it has a long way to go before challenging home assistant in my opinion
Ingewikkeld
Smart and simple
Been trying to build a home automation with Apple, then Home Bridge then Home Assistant. Homey Pro is finding everything so far, and the flows are sweet.
Not ready for prime
Should have stayed with Smarthing
Good
Nice
Metric
Still no way to see temperatures in celsius in the US. Seems the app dictates the units used due to location instead of asking or using the phones preferred units. Submitted as an issue a while back. Cloud backups constantly fail recently with odd messages about certificates not being correct.
Leuk apparaat
Easy like apple home but better
Just switch to this. It’s the ease of use of HomeKit with the advanced features of home assistant
Weather widget
If the weather app is flawed nor a high priority of software development company it says a lot about that company
Super!
Not stable or reliable
Very limited connectivity in USA
Honest review
Parts of this device is great and some no so great, presence detection works when it wants to and not having an hive app is big issue with me yes I should of checked before hand, but it worked before but they seem to of stopped it. Bute it’s nice having a easy setup and automation flow unlike HA. Definitely research that it covers all your devices before hands
Best smart home
Awesome and easy to use
Terrible
at the beginning, Homey communicating with my kiwkset locks and then it stopped working. No troubleshooting information to be found anywhere
Do your research
I purchased the homey pro mini with the purpose of controlling my Tesla powerwall 2. The app for homey exists (official), but it turns out it does not work any longer, despite being available on their App Store. It has not been updated for two years. Very disappointed.
Pretty disappointed
Based on reviews I expected much more. Used SmartThings before. And have to say that it was unfortunately more stable than what I have experienced with honey so far. Even officially supported devices from aqara and Namron do not really work reliably. The namron thermostats actually stop working constantly after ca one day. The same is true for the aqara motion detectors. Incredible disappointing
Great product, poor service
Professional product. Graphical flows are easy to understand. Supports a wide variety of protocols. To be a top competitor in the market with a pricey hub I expect support to be responsive. Three or four weeks for a response is poor service. A great product has all the above and great service. If one invests the time and money for a smart home it is important to have responsive service when your controller fails. If Athom/LG can fix this they will have a top tier, competitive product.
I like this app
It’s nice and works 99% of the time. Great automation, and I love the advanced flow (even though it’s only on the web interface.) I did the Homey Self Hosted Server on my old laptop that has 8 gigabytes of RAM, because there is no way I’m paying $400 for 2 gigabytes of RAM. Still, I had to pay $150 for my server to work. This app is pricey, but you are getting a very premium and easy to use interface. I’m glad I don’t have to pay for any subscriptions for cloud access, like Home Assistant. Overall, very good app.
Account removal is impossible
Requires that I first remove my “homeys” which there is no functionality for on mobile or web.
Very comprehensive
Been using Home Assistant for many years but it’s very complicated and very cumbersome quite unreliable and difficult to manage with his homies is absolutely fabulous
Not great - old smartthings much better
Basic functionality but very poor connectivity to devices. Things that worked with a 5 year old smartthings hub don’t connect and even if there is an app it is poor. Also does not render full screen on iPad Pro.
My Homey. Pro Review
Setting up Homey Pro is a little frustrating.I have done this 3 different times and I will probably be doing another restart and setup a few more times. I think that the User Interface (UI) is lacking. Scrolling is poor at best. Deleting Zones need to be improved. The use of Shift Keys and other optional keys is poor.I am actually considering sending the device back and wait for inprovements.
Great app
Sadly the pro bridge is kind of too expensive for today’s standards. However I can see that you have new product that is now available worldwide. Hopefully you ship to Serbia and do not use DHL for shipping because they make it a nightmare to get whatever you have received for example I had to drive to their wearhouse in the middle of nowhere and pay more than what the product was valuable because you pay shipping upfront and the when you receive the product I always know that that I have to pay import taxes etc… however they slap their huge fee for doing that for me which ended up costing more than the product their shipping and the tax combined… Worst part they don’t even deliver it to your door
Great app but lack support for devices
I love the interface, creating automations through the flow app is amazing but limited, for smart automations don’t even bother, the layout is super easy to follow. BUT, I have over 15 devices that I used for so many years with another z-wave controller with no issues and now don’t work and need to replace them, not nice. Constantly lose connection to Kasa lights and have to keep re-authenticating. Some of of the older plugs keep turning off which I never had issues with. Distance coverage for zwave devices is horrible, I never had issues with that before with my old controller. I bought a thread device but not able to use it because thread without matter is not supported. Basically a great concept and vision but very poor execution. They should not claim the most advanced and the most supported devices because totally not true. If a device has no app created by the developer for homey then it is useless and cannot be used. Homey should be creating these apps not the developer.
Giving up on it - or am I?
System too unreliable, I’m constantly having to add devices back in, seems Homey likes Static or reserved IPs, not DHCP on managed devices. Devices show as being available yet can’t be controlled from Homey. Work just fine from native apps. I spent a lot of time creating flows, which worked for a while and now do nothing. Unfortunately for me at least Homey is simply not reliable, I depend on security alerts and flows and them not working consistently just isn’t on. I have even reset Homey and added all devices and apps back in but with same results. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but I do not thinks so. Back to the native apps with limited automation capabilities but at least they work reliably. Such a shame as the concept is excellent. Update 13/7 - well I didn’t give up on the Homey. Sticking a £400 device in a draw irked me. So I reset it and added devices and apps back in. I also purchased the USB C Ethernet adaptor and now power the device from a UPS protected socket. So far so good. I’ve not had to add devices in repeatedly and so far automations are working reliably. Let see how it goes, as I say an excellent concept……
Not the best product
Migrated from smartthings and several switches are not handled by homey
Extremely capable device and platform
The homey app itself isn’t bad - it’s update regularly with good new features too. The homey pro platform and device is one of the most capable in the market. Since they recently expanded to the US, integrations might be missing but the community and open system make it easy to fill those gaps.
Wooow
This app is amazing. Compatible with so many things. Not too hard to use. Would recommend to new smart homers instead of home assistant.
Tony
App needs major improvements. Not intuitive. Integrations break and doesn’t automatically restore.
Solid App but missing core features
This app runs smoothly, responds quickly, but is missing two main features. 1. Why can’t I rearrange the order of my devices and floors (zones)? 2. Why can’t I make advanced flows on my iPad? I understand that this would be difficult to do on a small screen size like an iPhone, but I do not understand why an iPad is incapable of this. At the very least, make the website compatible with editing and creating advanced flows from the iPad.
Great idea, poor support
Homey Pro is a great concept. But it needs a lot of polishing. For one thing, navigation through the app is not all that intuitive (to my mind). For another, some very basic stuff seems to be missing from the app: namely, the ability to grip lights or devices (like blinds) together so you can turn on/off (or open/close) all of them in the group with one click. Also, the quality of apps is average at best. And many stop responding in the app, which is a pain. Finally, support is kind of awful. I have tried several times to get help with issues with my app, and it feels like the emails go straight to the trash. Such a shame. Homey had a lot of potential, but it is hampered by a lot of issues, great and small.
iPad!
Where’s iPad version???
Easy to use advanced smart home platform
Love the ease of use of honey to automate. Flows are a lot easier for me to set up then building them in script like other smart home platforms. Homey works well with most devices I own
Useless for me
I installed the app and signed up to try it out. It’s only useful if you buy the hardware. Now I can’t delete my account. All the information about deleting my account doesn’t work and inaccurate. I definitely would not recommend it.
Love hate relationship
Poorly supported apps. The company relies on private coders to produce and provide upkeep for most of the apps, at least the ones I use. The favorite developer doesn’t maintain the app, lose all functional ity for those devices. Then, why do you need to replace devices with something that is supported at that time, but it seems to be that you can’t count on that being a constant. Without the APIs in the apps I have several pieces of equipment that are useless. I do love the functionality when it works, but I certainly would think that there should to be something better out there.
Product should be classified as a BETA device
The Homey Pro presents itself as a promising smarthome product, but its current state in the US market suggests it's not quite ready for prime time. Homey Pro I would have classified more as a BETA offering, it falls short as a replacement for established platforms like Home Assistant, Apple HomeKit, or SmartThings. The application exhibits some polish, yet device support, especially for older Z-Wave devices, remains limited. The community-driven nature of applications might not align with users seeking a more curated experience. Flows resemble those of Node-RED which seem can be powerful for only the devices with good integrations. The prime benefit would only be support for specific radios (z wave, zigbee, etc) as long as you don’t have older devices. Unfortunately, the rattling issue, indicative of quality construction, raises concerns about the device's build quality. I wish I would have waited and asked questions regarding the application integrations before spending my hard earned money at this point.
No iPad version of the app
Would be good to get an iPad version of the app so could be used as main controller/dashboard
