Today on 18 May, when i tried to log into Wattbike hub because for some reason they log you out every few weeks, I couldn’t log in because their certification for their website was expired for 2 days now I couldn’t log in even if i continued to the site and kept getting errors just because they cant keep up with their own website certification. Error code (WB008)
Hardware ok. Software really poor.
I don’t think I could recommend buying a Wattbike based on years of misery using the Wattbike app. I was convinced it would improve over time but the other brands have just run away. Rarely does everything connect easily, certainly not for multiple rides in a row. For example you came have multiple HR straps connected to your phone and visible but Wattbike can’t see anything…. Same for the shifters. Overall youll spend so much time trying to delete and reconnect things it’s just not worth it. Try a different trainer with better software.
Great workouts
Love the workouts which have hugely improved my cycling. 4 stars as Apple health sync could be better. Upload is missing sample data so heart rate and move contribution are missing in fitness app.
Has potential
This app could be great and the data - when it works - is detailed and fascinating. I’m a new user and, having read up on the connectivity issues, believed they were resolved. Perhaps I’m unlucky, but 2 out of my 8 rides so far have lost connection during the workout; this mornings was 12seconds remaining on a HIIT workout. So frustrating that it crashes completely and doesn’t even save your workout up to the point of crashing. It’s as if the workout didn’t even happen, so it won’t even pick up your progress. Come on Wattbike - sort this out!
Ok but unstable
Love the app but frustrated by crashes mid workout. On the free version and would like to go to paid. But not prepared to pay for unstable app.
Zwift conflict
Wattbike is functional but would be so much better if it could connect properly to Zwift. It connects Power and Cadence but transmits no data.
Useless with WB Proton
App drops out randomly between 11 and 15 mins. Waste of time as I never know exactly how long my work out will be. To top it all support page on app goes nowhere. WB need to invest in sorting connectivity or I’m off to get a Zwift bike - much more reliable!
3 weeks in review
Great piece of kit. Loving how easy it is to use. The HR setting is temperamental and does not easily pick up the myzone switch. This is only reason for 4 not 5 stars.
Used to be great
App keeps crashing and suddenly logs out mid workout. Really annoying and puts me off using.
No Apple Watch connection
Maybe the bike I’m using is essentially old tech, but there seems to be no way to connect my Apple Watch to it. I have the watt bike hub app and everything as far as data exchange between apps is ticked. Pretty annoying.
Nice equipment but app often crashes…

Cant login using apple ID
Security certificate seemingly expired, unable to login on ipad or phone - can’t now use bike. Absolutely rubbish.
Great but…
Love the hub- even the free workouts are varied and plentiful enough to enjoy. However, recently you have to sign back in every single time. Really annoying. I get if there has been a major update, but it seems I log in every time.
As useless as it ever was
Pointless waste of time. Not used for a while as most training on Zwift . Takes forever to connect. HR belt x 3 ANT and Bluetooth all won’t connect for more than about a minute. Power display flakey. Ironic that Zwift connects immediately and completely stable. Will check back in 6 months. Not holding my breath.
It hangs
After installing, I did my first ride and after I stopped, it wouldn’t just stop. Also, no Apple Watch support so I can’t record my heart rate alongside. A bit disappointing in today’s time. This is a new bike recently installed in my gym and it doesn’t have Apple Watch support. 10Dec2025: We need Apple Watch support in your app. It should record my heart rate else it’s useless.
Updated Review - Support fixed it
Update 06/12/25 Support sorted all my issues and it’s rock solid! New Proton using Wattbike Hub - Every ride suffers heart rate dropout and a few have had surges to power or cadence; rendering the workout useless if your tracking data. This is advertised as a family bike so are you telling me, to get a reliable app, I also need to pay for Zwift etc for 5 users?? Needless to say, the bike is on notice if it doesn’t improve.
HRM connection is worse than poor
Many reviews on here about this problem. Struggles to connect, disconnects mid ride, major frustration. It has soured my whole experience with WattBike.

Ok when it works
Software jaunt seems flakey. Regularly can’t connect my Polar HRM, the shifters on my Wattbike atom also regularly don’t connect so I can’t change gear. Really let’s it down - should be seamless

Log out every time
This app logs me out every time I close it. I need to log in again every time I run the app. Incredibly frustrating.
Wattbike Atom
I got the Atom a few months back. I wasn’t doing cycling training at the time, but I did intend on incorporating it. I like the smooth and dependable increase in resistance with the App and the bike. It is easy to adjust (considering you are provided with the necessary tools to do the adjustment). I am a bigger rider at almost 95kg and the seat is very important to me. My last stationary bike broke the clamp and that was unnerving (but nothing compare to going through the turn at speed on the velodrome and having your seat attitude go south!). Anyway, good job to the makers of Wattbike. Now can you make Me produce power like Sir Chris Hoy…

It requires an update while busy with an activity. Losing all my data. Horrible. Not the first time either
Heart rate
I downloaded app on iPhone and cannot see the function to link my Heart rate monitor. I deleted and reinstalled app and still nothin. How can I resolve it.

Great app and it’s free (I.e., no subscription fees)
Really enjoyed using this with my atom. The only struggle is finding/pairing my heart rate monitor, which also sometimes drops in the middle of a ride.
Good display - poor app
The start - The app seems to need me to accept the terms and conditions every time I startup the app and the process of logging is clunky. The middle - the app is fine. When I sign up to a plan there is an annoying progress bar that gets in the way of looking at options at the bottom of each section. During the ride it is great. Everything works how I would expect. The end - the app does not seem to log data to Apple Health. It has done it once. I have no idea why. I need to have my Apple Watch tracking an indoor ride and my IPhone on Wattbike. Not great.
Too noisy
In addition to the noise of the electrical resistance, there appears to be a second (mechanical) noise.
Lots of Training Options and Challenges
The Wattbike maintains summer fitness right through winter. The Ride training plans are a brilliant discipline to follow and it’s great to be able to throw in the odd special mountain section. The bike is easy to tailor and after just over 18 months and nearly 200 rides it hasn’t missed a beat. A great training aid.
Connectivity issues
Really struggles to connect and track accurately across the cycle. Has the initial connection but doesn’t track the workout.
Great app with some usability quirks
The app has been working great for me. My only complaints are the size of the in-app shifter buttons, which are these tiny triangles inside big boxes. Whenever I try to tap onto the triangles I seem to miss and the gears don’t change. Why can’t the full box simply react on touch input? Switching back and forth between apps has been working fine for me - at least on my iPhone/iPad. When I start a ride and click onto the “play” button I sometimes get my bike ID displayed. Then I have to go back and do the same thing again and it will start.
HR monitor
This app is a mess, zero support from wattbike. Cant pair hr monitor with the app, to work with the bike, and the app. It is either or.. Terrible app.
Very nice app shame about the premium features
It’s a really nice app and obviously pairs perfectly with the wattbike I bought before Xmas. It seems a shame that even wattbike customers have to pay a subscription to be able to create workouts in it - seems a bit much since I already dropped 2 grand or so on the hardware. So unfortunately I’ll be looking elsewhere for a different workout app.
Good, could improve
Improvement should be made on workouts in general, wether it’s plans of summer/winter specials. By just adding for instance intervals off the saddle, and even more importantly, make the prompt very loud and lasting longer on the screen.
Poor App
For a bike you spend several thousand pounds on, the app is poor to say the least. Can’t complete a workout without it dropping out let alone get a sensible out which reflects the monitor.
Great workout app
Geat feature to run defined workouts in the app. However, the number of ~1 hour workouts is limited. suggested feature: *It would be great if you could build your own workouts and possibly share it with other wattbike hub users. This would result on an endless supply of different workouts. Is this feature planned/considered?
Buggy
The bike is great, I have used it daily for the past few years without any problem. The app however is clunky and buggy.
Update has broken the app
My initial experience using the hub app has only been positive. A great selection of workouts and programs to help guide your fitness. I was loving it! Unfortunately the most recent update has caused my app to crash 3-4 times within the last week resulting in incomplete training sessions and lost data. So frustrating, especially when 40+ minutes in to a workout. Occasionally it also shows incorrect data in relation to cadence and power output.
New dimension
The watt bike is taking my cycling to a new level. Already feeling the benefits.
Custom Workouts - Unable to scroll through.
Since the latest upgrade, I am now unable to scroll through any of my custom workouts ? Scrolling through the standard workouts works as expected however ?
Sync WattBike - Strava ?
After the last update, the app doesnt sync to Strava anymore. Tried already multiple things. What’s the solution?
No distance-based interval workouts
Excellent user-interface. Easy to pair with a Wattbike. Good selection of workouts, tests and training plans. Some famous climbs are included. My main gripe is that interval workouts are only time-based (distance-based interval workouts are not supported). I prefe distance-based workouts because then the faster I go, the sooner I’m done. Also, the overall time can be used as a simple measure of performance improvement.
It’s ok.
Originally when I used this everything was fine! Now there have been constant issues with my Wattbike data synching through to Strava! Seems to be happening more and more these days. When the app is working it’s great!

Custom Workouts
In this app release the Custom Workouts for the Hub+ subscribers are not scrollable anymore. I’m only able to pick the ones at the top of the list.
Great App
Works as it says it does and the feedback is phenomenal. I would like to see future dev done to allow us to create our own custom sessions. Added value would be to be able to share these with other cyclists. Also the ability to stitch two sessions would be great (10 min warm up: 20 min ride: 10 min warm up/down- merge together = 1 Wattbike session = 1 Strava session.

No Auto Intregration
I’ve used WattBike some time ago at the gym at the time it was working great on iPhone. However now it doesn’t seem to automatically upload data to Apple Health or Strava. I know I can manually up load it to Strava. But let’s face it no body wants to sit and manually do this after each training sessions. Otherwise I must say that WattBike is probably the best indoor trainer if used in a long time, just a pity they are so expensive in South Africa. I’ll just keep using the ones at the gym
