Generally very good app, but…
…every time I want to open the latest issue for the first time, the app crashes repeatedly the moment the app fires up. I then have to delete it, reupload and then download again the issues I want to read. 1st world problems, I know, but very irritating.
Digital issues
Great mag - been buying it from almost first issue in the 70’s. Got fed up with piles of paper cluttering the house so I went digital on my A4 iPad. Had several download problems and issues when there’s an upgrade of OS. Some pages load corrupted with wide pixilated bars across the images which is not acceptable. I’m also waiting for that old trick with app developers which is to not make their products backwards-compatible with older devices that have reached the limit of their software upgrades meaning that if you have to throw more technology into landfill to buy cripplingly expensive replacements or eventually lose your previous purchases. Since the digital mags are not downloadable as pdfs an interaction with the app is necessary to view them. I’m considering giving up on the whole thing sadly but fear that by not subscribing I will lose access to my current digital library. Modern life can be rubbish!
Won't open
I downloaded the latest magazine, but had to come back later to read it. Now the app won't open!

A shadow of its past
Used to be great. Now drenched in woke just like the sad show. The end is night.
App failing
Been using this app on ipad and iPhone for several years with no bother. Now today it won’t open on ipad. Deleted and reinstalled app but but the same result. App tries to open then immediately shuts down. iPhone still or king OK
Latest version very buggy!
Love the app and love the magazine - but - latest update crashes constantly on ios10. Also I don't mind the app asking me if I want to view the mag in article mode once - but on EVERY SINGLE page??? Please have an option to turn this off. Soon as the bugs are sorted out - straight back to five star review :-)
Crashy and often needs reinstall
I have to delete the app, reinstall and restore my purchases too many times. The three stars are for content alone, it'd be five stars if the app could impress.

Doctor WHERE
Everything was fine until the last update, I enjoyed reading the magazine. Now it won’t open, I have no access to my library. I have deleted the app and reinstalled, still no change. We need another update to correct the problem or I’m not paying for magazines I can’t read so I will cancel my subscription. Sort this problem out SOON.
Great Mag, app seems fixed.
What’s happened to this app? Magazine comes up half formed, jumps to higher pages, randomly crashes. Not even been an update recently to cause this. Come on get a grip you’re ruining the experience. Seems to be sorted now, laid out better and with the great new logo as its icon.
Ad banner - get rid of
Words can't describe the annoyance of the add banner at bottom of screen that pops up each time you touch the screen. The app is already a shop window - we get that. Just don't give us a reason to walk away without buying!
Wish magazines were easier to navigate.
I like the digital access to the magazine, but the app is hardly intuitive. I wish they'd take a hint from Comixology, making purchases more intuitive, and allowing navigation between pages with a tap on one side of the screen instead of a full swipe.
Article view great idea but needs fixing
Hi. Love this digital format. The article Jew allows me to read quicker as well. Fix the issue that others mention would be the only suggestion.
Not working
Paid for a subscription digitally and now it’s not loading. App crashes immediately. Tried deleting and re installing and a reset of the iPad but still not loading.

Unable to get my Mag
I have been subscribing via this app for over a year. Now all of a sudden I can't and all my Dr Who mags have gone. It says this app is not supported. My login doesn't work. What give???????????
Great mag, terrible app
Love DWM, but this app, like all magazine apps for iOS, is terrible. All I want is to be able to read the cover and table of contents to decide if I want to purchase the magazine. Unfortunately you can not scale the view and the text is too small. Apple needs to fix this ASAP. Forget a new iPad and FIX THIS APP!
Great App
Great app - has encouraged me to subscribe to DWM again for the first time in years. Works perfectly, saves me money and prevents piles of back issues building up in my loft! Some magazines simply don't work in digital form - Riis one does.
Don’t waste your money VoiceOver users
It says the VoiceOver compatibility but it isn’t
Especially great for Whovians in the US!
I used to wait more than a month to buy each issue of the magazine at local stores. Now, the App makes each issue available on same day as UK release! And at a much reduced price! Buying this App was about the smartest thing I've ever done as a fan of Doctor Who, the best show on television. But I can't give the app a full 5-star rating because it does so little with the digital magazine format. What we get are straight reproductions of the pages of the print magazine - with zoom, obviously the most necessary tool - and that's perhaps all any Whovian needs. And the special issues are amazing in content. But I wish the app took fuller advantage of the digital medium.
Why subscribe?
Magazine itself is always excellent. HOWEVER... like many other users, although I have subscribed to the magazine in-app, it seems like every other month it will not let me download the new issue without paying again! This needs sorting out!
Hooray!
At long last, I can enjoy DWM once more! I was finding it a struggle to read the hard copy, as like another reviewer, I have low vision. It got to the point where I thought I'd have to stop buying it because it was impossible to read at all. Fortunately, the very next issue was the first out on iPad, so I didn't miss anything. My only criticism is that the zoom feature keeps snapping out or the pages will turn when all I want to do is look at the next column. All well and good until you hit the last one and actually want to turn the page, in which case it doesn't work and you find yourself having to go back to full screen. All in all though, brilliant, but could use some small tweaks.
Nice idea, shame about the app!
Please resolve the crashing issues mentioned in these reviews. The quality of the magazine is wonderful but it crashes regularly and the switch between page and article view is very annoying. It would be great to just open the app and continue reading from where you left off rather than scroll back through all the pages again.
Not accessible for blind people
Having read a previous review from another blind user stating that the app was not accessible i decided to try it as a few years had passed. Having purchased thee latest issue i have found no change what so ever. I can only conclude that we are being ignored. So to any blind people who are hoping to read the mag don’t waste your time and money as you won’t get anything out of this what so ever.
Good, fast app
Good speeds, good resolution rendering for the most part. Shame that as physical subscribers get their issues early and WH Smith usually puts the new issues out on a Wednesday, it's usually an hour or two after midnight before digital subscribers get the new issue.
Subscription Link?
I already have a subscription with DWM. I down loaded the app because I thought it would make my subscription more mobile. Plus my current issue was sent to the wrong address, so I thought maybe I could use the app instead of buying a new copy. Instead I'm asked to buy of subscribe with no option to access my current account. Is there no way to link my subscription to the app?
Accessibility
This app is a really good way of getting a Doctor Who Magazine directly to your phone The only drawback with this is that currently there is no voice-over support for this app. This is extremely disappointing as being able to read a Doctor Who Magazine unaided would be a major triumph for me because being visually impaired said I cannot read this without sighted assistance I hope one day in the future this problem will be resolved and I look forward to the day when voice-over is fully supported on this app.
Broken in ios10
Just crashes every time it launches on iPad Pro with upgraded ios10
Freezes and does not load edition
Worked well up until a couple of weeks ago and since that time every time I select the latest edition I just get a please wait loading page but get no further. My subscription works if I login using the PocketMags website and I have no problems using other magazine subscriptions on my iPad Pro. I have updated to iOS 11.3.1 since but still no change. I have now cancelled my subscription until the issue is sorted. Disappointed!

I just wanted to offer a little feedback on your app. I'm enjoying the new tablet reading DWM experience, but it can be a nuisance trying to flick between the various issues I've purchased. I notice that other similar reading apps make a distinction between the following: 1. Issues purchased and on device; 2. Issues purchased and in the cloud; and 3. Store front (Issue available to buy). Without this feature I think it is going to become harder and harder to keep track of the issues I have purchased.
Good start... But...
So I ordered and downloaded this app and started a subscription. Got my first issue and enjoyed it. Went to get the next issue and it tells me the app needs updating, but each update try ends in 'cannot connect to server'. So I delete and download again. Restore my purchase and now the app is up-to-date, but I cannot download any of my mags... Very sad Dr. Who fan here.
Has problems still.
Since issue 477, the dialogue in the comic strip has been rendered as text, making it actually readable at last. tHowever, there is still no way to delete individual issues either within the app or from Settings.
DW Magazine
I buy the magazine every month, I've now got this app and it's fantastic and I'm saving trees too :-)
Sort it out!
It would be nice to read in article view without it reverting to page view and then having to scroll through to the spot you reached. It would be nice to read without the app constantly crashing. Update please . . .
Great with a glitch
It would be great if issues I've downloaded didn't keep disappearing from my iPad, causing me to have to waste time re-downloading them.
Great magazine. Decent app.
Worth it to have digital copy of DWM esp. since it's not available on the superior Zinio app. If dev would at least update so you can view purchased issues apart from all available issues that would go a long way to improving it. Also, If last year's Dalek bookazine was made available I'm sure I'm not the only one who would buy it on sight. ***UPDATE*** Not only is the Dalek Bookazine available now (that was fast! and I bought it like I said I would) but so is the second volume, The Companions. The third will probably be available in less than 4 weeks. Two needed improvements: 1. Sort purchased issues from all available as mentioned above. 2. Give a summary description of contents of each issue. The cover alone really is not enough to do that. *** One more thing, once a filter for purchased issues is added it would also help to sort by different options including most recently read, order off purchase, and order released.
Brilliant mag, terrible digital experience
As a loyal reader since issue 1 of Doctor Who Magazine, I have nothing but praise for it. It has become a legend in the publishing industry, a solid companion to many generations of Doctor Who fans worldwide. However, I can't say I've ever had such a disappointment as a reader since I swapped my print subscription for a more convenient and cheaper digital sub. Why? Surely the digital version is a replica of the actual print magazine, you say. It's the execution of the issues. Print is nice and sharp, as it should be but as soon as you zoom in even just a little, the resolution of the accompanying art and photo images mush up into blocky pixels. The smaller the image, the worse the effect. I don't see why DWM suffers from this lack of clarity as I'm struggling to find any other digital magazine executed so poorly! Surely it can't be anything to do with budget constraints ? Please consider this point seriously as it spoiling the pleasure of being a digital subscriber.
It was ok before but...
...then they introduced 'Article View'. I really really really hate 'Article View'. You will constantly activate it accidentally, and when you go back to normal view you will be several pages back at the start of the article. And then 2 minutes later you'll do that again. And you will have annoying borders around everything you accidentally tap. Like I said, it was fine before they messed around with it.
Great content, slightly wonky subscription service
Others have commented on this. Sometimes a new issue (standard, not the specials which are a separate thing) is only available as a purchase-only thing - which is not why one bothers to subscribe. I imagine it'll get fixed eventually. The articles and stuff are as good as they ever were - and I was a subscriber to the print magazine in the early '80s. :)
Formatting
Love having this digitally because it's hard to get in the US (or expensive, or late), but there's a problem. The comics (and small print in pictures, like the original script photos in the anniversary issue) are unreadable, at least on an iPhone. The comic has always been a big part of the magazine so this app still needs work. I hope improvements can be made; maybe a higher-scan PDF of the issue is needed.

Very Poor
In landscape the app should zoom into one page at a tap. It actually over zooms. See 2000ad if you wish to see how it's done. It also crashes repeatedly & the pages take up to a minute to focus or update.
Doctor who goodness
I have wanted to subscribe to dwm for years but the high shipping costs for international shipping was a huge detriment. Now I can get the magazine for a fraction of the cost and it's paperless! I would like the interface to be more user friendly but other than that I love it.
Needs work
When I saw that Doctor Who magazine was finally available to itunes I jumped for joy. Long overdue! However, after I downloaded my first issue I was disheartened to find it a terrible copy. Most of the smaller print and the comics is completely unreadable! They need to fix and create clearer text as the comic is half the fun.
